Accessories Experience replacing screen protector - Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3

Wish I had taken some photos, but my screen protector had started to crack a bit at the seam point on my Flip 3. I started doing some research and it appeared it was possible to get a screen protector replacement through Samsung to maintain warranty for about twelve bucks (only discovered after looking at third party options for quite some time, not finding many with good reviews or solid experiences from those who tried). I think some of the language around the actual pricing and length of time since purchase was a little confusing, but I reached out anyway. Samsung gave me the names and numbers of two local shops that were supposed to be able to execute the repair, but both said they could not do this upon my inquiry. I reached back out to Samsung and they agreed to perform the repair for free at their facility, I just had to use their shipping label and send it in. Fortunately I had an old Pixel 4a laying around that I used in the interim, but barely got to use it because they returned my phone within 3 days. In addition, there was apparently an antennae repair made too (but never noticed any issues here, kinda curious what was up there).
Long story short, I was very impressed with the work they did and the rapid turn around time. If possible I recommend anyone else try to get it to the official sammy repair shop if ya end up in the same situation I was in.

It's extremely hard to do. A clean room environment is needed. Learning to do it means a lot of scraped laminates due to mistakes during that learning curve. That's why 3rd party repair parties don't want to touch it.
It's free, guaranteed and inconvenient... let Samsung do it.
Take pics before boxing with the phone on, double box it and insure it. Cover yourself.

What do you mean extremely hard to do and clean room enviroment? I took it off the other day and put a 3rd party protector on there. 10 minute job in a normal room and you keep the warranty, because on the 3 it is perfectly fine to replace it yourself.

How I resolved the joystick issue (C600)

Hi folks my other half who has a C600 has complained about joystick issues for a while now so I finally did something about it (sick of her complaining about her 'crap phone' - ungrateful #!&@! ), not sure if this is THE issue with the c600 joystick so would be interested in any feedback good or bad.
Basically the joystick became less and less responsive over time so harder presses were necessary to perform actions. Didn't fancy spraying WD40 in my phone (what does this actually do?) and after testing switch operation with my meter all seemed ok.
What I noticed was that the piece of metal holding the joystick is stamped to a lower level than the rest of the metal chassis holding the keyboard. This section is only supported at one end and therefore, every time the joystick is moved a bending action is exerted on this 'sub chassis'. Hopefully this picture might help people understand what I am on about...

Now I found that by simply bending this piece of metal back up a little bit I restored the joystick to it's former self! No cleaning, NO WD40!
Now just to note I didn't mess around but I suspect the problem might return in time so maybe these phones are missing a bit of support between the joystick chassis and main board? Maybe someone messing about might want to investigate sorting this.
Hope this is useful to someone although I realise it is coming a little late in the C600 lifetime!
I just thought on if I get enough requests I could do a decent photo guide for stripping the C600 and maybe the VOX too.
What I do is clean all the dust out of the rubber piece that's over the joystick in my T-mobile SDA, and then spray the joystick with quick dry electrical cleaner (usually available at your local car parts store).
Hi thecraze, yes being an electronics engineer I am aware of switch cleaner. I realise in my case however this was not the issue, as all switch contacts showed a good low resistance with little effort on the joystick. There was also negligible dust too.
I have also noted that cleaning does not work for everyone, and this may be one of, if not the contributing factor in such cases.
Thanks anyway.

Leaving the O3D community in style!

I don't really like these kinds of topics, but I found my situation quite funny and perhaps worth sharing.
Last Friday I lost my O3D after it fell out of my bag.
I was riding this:

and descending this road, the Transfagarasan:
I built the bike myself, I even made a bike mount that fitted the phone and its flipcase, and it would stay put no matter how hard the bike fell. However, that particular day I had it in a pocket in the rear bag, charging from an external battery. I don't know why I didn't put the phone in the back pocket of my cycling jersey, it would have been way more secure.
The upside, of course, was the ride! I was so happy at the bottom, after over 5000ft (1500m) of teeth-grinding descent, that when I got that sick feeling out of the blue, looked back and saw the charging cable dangling freely, I just couldn't get angry. I had already lost my touring colleague the previous day due to different views over the tour, so after loosing the phone and consequently the tour schedule, camera, gps, radio, weather app, emergency communications and nearly all the photos (I had uploaded 3 of them on the road), I just felt defeated and rode home for the next 2 days. I bought a map to plot a quick and easy route home, and I could have bought a camera and a phone, but I felt like crap for loosing the almost 300$ I paid for the phone and decided to end the tour after a week's riding of the planned 3.
Now I got myself a Dell Streak 5, and while I miss the 3D capabilities and the camera on this one isn't great, I really like it and it's nice not having that feeling that you might still be missing a call now and then and not know about it. Nonetheless, I hope ICS will be everything we ever hoped for the O3D, and the wait won't be for nothing!
Damn. must feel bad to lose your phone.
I will hope ics will be everything for this device to.
but i think i already sold the phone before it comes out.
you may want to drive that road again and search for it.
a dell streak aint something either. i would rather call that crap than a phone.
i would search it. even if it's a extremely long road.
Greetings, Paul

[Q] Screws in my Samsung Galaxy S2.

Fellow XDA-Developers Members,
I know this is going to sound like a stupid question, but the only stupid question is the one that isnt answered, right ??!! I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 SCH-R760 that I got from a friend when my previous phone died as a loaner. The only problem is that her kids messed up the charging port, and you have to hold the cord a certain way to charge the phone, and even then, it doesnt always charge correctly (charges for hours and hours overnight and then says it only has 10% power, sometimes fully charges, sometimes doesnt charge at all). Rather than to sit here and mess with it everyday, I looked up the part costs to replace the USB Charging Port, and it is really cheap !! I decided to try and take the phone apart just to familiarize myself with the process, and maybe see if there was a loose connection I could fix myself rather than to be without a phone until the parts got to my rural area on an island in Alaska !! Well, I went on Youtube to find a video to take the phone apart, and all of the videos insist that there are seven (7) screws underneath the battery cover that I have to take our before using a soft plastic prying tool to remove the backing, but it doesnt look the same-there are only six (6) screws, and I cannot find anymore, even underneath these little black film-like strips that are there (I carefully removed them and then replaced them exactly as they were) !! And whats worse, the phone doesnt have a split in the middle of the side of the casing-you have to pry between the edge of the back casing and the screen !! I am at a loss here because right now I dont have the funds to buy a new phone, so can anyone tell me why I cant seem to get it apart (the seven (7) versus six (6) screws issue, and what could possibly be hanging it up; I tried to open it and it seemed like the headphone jack circuit board was hanging it up, but there is no more screws !!), why the video shows seven (7) screws instead of sic (6) on all of the instructional videos and why the phone doesnt split in the middle on the side like all the videos show them doing on the instructional videos illustrate !! I would greatly appreciate any and all help/advice !! Thanks !!

Screen replacement for Joyous J-3862 (MTCD)

A year and a half ago I bought Joyous J-3862 from DealExtreme. It was working OK until the past few days when touch screen just died so only the top third part of the screen was responsive to touches. Being a computer engineer myself and electronics being my hobby I spend a lot of my free time at I disassembled the head unit and tried every possible way to try and fix the touch screen to no avail (from re-seating flat cables to re-soldering connectors with hot gun).
Then I managed to get the markings on the flat cable for the touch screen (GT911) so I did some searching but none of the available touch screens were fitting my device because flat cable for my device is located in the center of the smaller side of the screen while touch screens available online had it in different positions but on the larger side of the screen. Anyway, knowing I have nothing to lose because I had a faulty unit (Joyous website nor any usable contact information is available anymore, and using a mouse to control head unit makes no sense) so I went further to disassemble the screen and after all my effort it cracked in the last phase of disassembly.

Then it hit me since this head unit's touch screen was unfixable. I've see a dozen of same looking head units being "branded" by at least 20 different brands I decided to contact Joying (they're resellers only but still seem to have quite a support up and running) to see if I could get my hands on the replacement screen but of course they told me their screens are not compatible with my head unit and they'd rather sold me the new one. While it might be true some of their screens are not fitting, I'm sure at least one is compatible because they don't produce damn things - they just put their own logo and sell it.
So, does anyone have any smart idea where I should be looking for screen replacement? I understand my unit is old enough but if screen replacement is cheaper than the new head unit I'd go with the replacement. Or if anyone is interested to buy both boards (smaller with Rockchip and bigger for other things) I could arrange something like that.

Question question about ending the speaker of the conversation

hi, i need help could the owners of the silver pixel 7 pro have a look into the slot of the loudspeaker for calls? because normally it will go crazy, do you have the entire filling in black or are there silver gaps as in the picture? I was looking for many videos from disassembling pixels as it should be and I got stupid. I am sending pictures of what I mean, you have to look at the right angle Thanks in advance for your response

Mine is all black, no "gaps".
So I thought that my Pixel is unique and now the question arises in connection with this factory "flower" will this loss of seals, fillings somehow affect the operation of the phone, e.g. water resistance? Report it under warranty?
Mine has the same effect as your speaker grill, but the darker lines are equal distances from the front camera punch out. Too even to be dirt or anything that would accumulate in a random manner. I wouldn't worry about it, personally.
If you're worries about the ip rating maintaining, use this app from time to time to make sure it's still good: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ray.waterresistancetester
I feel like you might have a hard time getting google to replace your phone for that. Might not hurt to at least inquire so you can have it documented that you reached out previously in the unlikely event that it causes issues. Good luck friend!

I fixed this tiny defect in my own way, using a marker that we use at work and a piece of paper, I painted the inside black a bit tedious job because you had to dot by dot at points but finally now it looks like God commanded. Before the procedure, I checked the tightness using the application, thanks a lot, I didn't even know such a thing existed.
I respect the dedication and it looks good! I love that app. I use it to make sure the seals are good from time to time and it gives good peace of mind.
I have no gaps but the sound is ok.
Maybe Google is experimenting with real buyers and one of them appears in the p8p...
