B106
OK, so almost final(preview) build is now released. i.e. B106. This is not beta.
****** PLEASE NOTE : i have read in original forum that it may not be possible to go back to Android 5.0, once you upgrade to B105 and B106. So risk is yours. *******
Upgrade path : B015 -> B102 -> B103 -> B105 -> B106 -> B016sp01
All updates are incremental push, so you have to be on previous version to goto next version. i.e. You have to be on B015 and then upgrade to B102. Then apply B103, then apply B105 and then apply B106.
Links :
B102 : http://1drv.ms/1f5q9sz
B103 : http://1drv.ms/1f5qhrS
B105 : http://1drv.ms/1PDClxW
B106 : http://1drv.ms/1KamHdc
Instructions for B102 :
- This is OTA update file. You need to be on B015 to update this. Update to B015 and be un-rooted.
- Copy the zip file to dload folder on sd card.
- Goto Updater>Menu> Local Update > Incremental Update.
- Thats it. It will update to EMUI3.1.
Follow above same steps for B103, B105 and B106.
Whats new :
- EMUI Home auto rotates with device orientation.
- Split screen mode is available.
- Android 5.1.1
- screen wakeup is faster.
- Root is not working in this build yet. I tried B013 root from @dfsteen's method. It sent the device into boot-loop, so don't try it.
- Double tap to wake will work for some devices (because huawei had employed 2 different display unit manufacturers and they have fix for only one of them)
I will add more once i find out.
****** PLEASE NOTE : i have read in original forum that it may not be possible to go back to Android 5.0, once you upgrade to B105 and B106. So risk is yours. *******

Huawei is not pushing SP01 anymore. You need to save ota zip for sp01 and then only you can go back to sp01.
Right now for downgrading you can goto B013 and then update sp01 if you have it. otherwise OTA update for B015 is directly pushed now.

Have you tried flashing this http://download.chainfire.eu/740/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip in TWRP after you updated to the Beta? Whenever I wasn't rooted I flashed that and it rooted me. Then all I had to do was update the binaries after bootup. I also found what appears to be the apk to install double tap to wake. I'm sure it needs to be supported in the Kernel for it to work but if you wanna try it I uploaded it here : https://www.dropbox.com/s/ci9m8043otadsfj/DoubleTapToWake-GEM-703L.apk?dl=0
It's (the B015) not being pushed OTA to my B013SP01 MediaPad X2 whenever I check
Is it possible to make it downloadable for me from your dropbox or else where please ?

Can I just update from "B013_Kangvip_v2" to the beta EMUI 3.1/Android 5.1 beta build? And will this automatically unroot me?
I am registered for all betas, maybe thats why it showed me update from Sp01 to b015. Now that we have B015 full build available, you can directly install it and then update to 3.1

Note: None of these files have been tested mainly because I want to keep root on my device. If someone (preferably a recognized developer) can confirm that you can still root the device on this update, I will edit the thread to appear safe to novice/semi-inexperienced users. Because I haven't tested these files, I'm gonna assume its a January security patch.
Here I have pulled the latest FOTA update for the SM-T337A. I know right, I thought this device would never get another update, but it did! Down below I have uploaded the original, untouched .CFG update file and my own compiled .ZIP update file. Not that any of them are different, but if one fails to flash, there's the other file to try.
New PDA Version: T337AUCU2BOH5
New CSC Version: T337AATT2BOH5
Bootloader Version: Bootloader V2 (So you can downgrade back to the BOH4 firmware)
Please feel free to ask any questions or report any problems down below.
EDIT: I will begin creating Odin packages for this update and release them in place of the zip files if/when they are completed.
--Download Links--
Original .CFG File: https://mega.nz/#!r940XJLB!OUne16ltPYkOqfNBbzA5W08f8LwvYT_os--agbGzFq4
Compiled .ZIP File: https://mega.nz/#!fkoW0JKB!aR2uZYlthtmW7Us0uBmP6-BZrmhKiJrRaVrbdkq-bx8
Cheers!
Thank you very much as always @KingOfTheNet , is there any chance you can make an Odin firmware file too, or would that require you taking the update (which I understand very much why you wouldn't want to, without knowing for sure)?
Also I shall mirror the update.zip file on AFH if you'd like (it doesn't accept cfg files)

I'm 99% sure it's just a January security patch, so I'm not sure if it would be worth making an Odin file for it. If AT&T where to release a Marshmallow or Nougat update (which we all know isn't gonna happen) then I would make one for that. Making the Odin file for the Lollipop firmware took me like 4 months
Also feel free to mirror the file(s) to AFH, please be sure to credit me though, assuming they flash without issues. I didn't test it on mine because I want to keep root until I can verify that it can still be achieved on this new update. I'm just surprised AT&T is still updating this thing.
Cheers!
Do you have patch notes, what was fixed?
Thanks.

I would imagine AT&T or Samsung would release them somewhere on their website. In my opinion, security updates are made to keep your device guarded against new root methods and viruses, which is exactly why I didn't flash the update myself, to keep root.
Preliminary operations/infos
First of all: what's Treble?
Find it out here.
How do I obtain my bootloader unlock code?
GO HERE, FAST!
Huawei officially ceased the unlocking service.
How do I get Treble on my device?
At the moment of this write down, EMUI it's still in private BETA.
The only chance to obtain it it's to follow this guide CAREFULLY.
What if I want to revert to EMUI 8/5?
Follow the steps described in the guide to get treble on your device using EMUI 8 files if you want to revert to EMUI 8, or EMUI 5 if you wish to revert to it.
The road it's long...
So, you're sitting there, not understanding why there are so much ROMs in this section and why you shouldn't use the ones appearing in Treble-Enabled Device Development since you worked so hard to get Treble on it.
Let's try to answer a universal question.
What's the difference from the "standard" GSIs and the ROMs in this section?
Well, the ROMs here were made keeping an eye on the "optimization per-platform" concept, basically tracking down some proprietary stuff inheriting them under /system .
**WHAT FOLLOWS ARE PERSONAL OPINIONS**
I honestly think, that we should cut off this approach.
Inheriting stuff under /system has no more sense.
Am I saying that what I did till now had no sense?
Yes.
The whole Treble concept relies on moving away from system, any vendor related stuff.
So why in the hell should we inherit proprietary stuff in our system partition again?
When we have other ways to don't mess with it?
The only stuff that still "deserves" to have something to do with /system it's the Huawei Camera.
Everything else, belongs to /vendor.
Furthermore, our goal, as developers and users, should be to track down specific-platform bugs and report them.
Co-operation is the sake of open-source and the key to success in a wonderful GSI experience for everyone.
Is my device ready to use a "standard" GSI?
Pretty much.
Huawei doesn't ship any overlay under /vendor in our PRA, because it's inherited in EMUI under /system.
But, you can follow this guide, to include the needed overlay to be fully GSI-ready.
Also, you need this thread too to fix offline charging on your Huawei device.
Known Bugs on GSI and "specific-GSI"
NFC has been an annoying issue all along the development process on some Huawei devices.
But this flashable zip, seems to solve the issue on our PRA.
Indeed it needs more testing.

THAT WORKED. FINALLY 8.1 WITH BOOTLEGGERS GSI, 128GB micro SDXC as INTERNAL. I AM HAPPY
for beginners:
boot after working rom in twrp
go in advanced
go to file manager
go to /vendor/etc/
open file "fstab.hi6250" (after copying with and having a recovery of it, open with notepad++ or something else)
there should be a line with: "/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/userdata /data f2fs nosuid,nodev,noatime,discard,inlinedata,inlinexattr wait,check,fileencryption=aes-256-xts:aes-256-cts"
erase the part: ",fileencryption=aes-256-xts:aes-256-cts"
save
erase the original fstab.hi6250 file in vendor/etc
and put the new fstab.hi6250 file in
reboot in bootloader
flash stockrecovery.img
reboot recovery
factory reset in stock recovery
reboot
DONE.
now you can see the SD card as internal and use for apps.

There is a problem I've noticed on most of the treble roms. After using apps for a while, they begin to FC.

Hi, i am experiencing a weird bug on every GSI, specifically, snapchat video recording is fine and smooth, but after tapping on the "send" button it says "failed to add" and doesnt even give a chance to resend the same snap. It happens on all treble roms i've teted so far (i tested every specific GSI for PRA, and some openkirin and otger ones). @dill3m4 do you have any idea how to fix it? I hope there is a way to do a flashable zip or something like the NFC fix. Once i get back home (2-3 days) i will post some logs, in the meantime, can someone please confirm if the issue persists, and gather logs? ?

I couldn't find the file using TWRP either. Had to use root explorer to find and edit the file. As for hurupdater, I'm not sure if it's the same for your region, but for pra-la1 there were 3 files.
And as for the the 2 files, I successfully flashed using the updater with only the update.zip so try updating anyway. If that doesn't work, use the eRecovery

I just created a bat file (windows) with the above content.
All I need do in future is download a firmware from here, extract the three files and place the bat file in the same folder, and run it.
^^^ Note I have adb/fastboot setup with a global path in windows.
Haven't tested in operation yet but in theory should work. I'm on 8.7.5 Beta firmware at present and see no need to update until the custom rom in use requires update files.
Above 3 files have been reported safe to flash here (Thanks @aank) , without effecting the bootloader, so not to trigger ARP.

Cool, hope it works if i ever need it. Thanks
thx tested it, it works, i am still on anti 3 after updating these 3
does this improve signal reception? when I'm using any custom rom, my signal is really bad, but in MIUI it isn't, it's really great and it's full.

It may depend on the custom rom your on?
What was your last MIUI firmware?
Updating/downgrading the modem to the working version may help/improve things.
@corkiejp Do you recommend flashing the firmware files from 9.5.19 or the ones from 8.7.26 when moving to a custom rom?

I'm on Arrow OS right now.
But after I do the steps above, it seems like nothings changed.
The signal is still the same.
It's happening on all custom ROMs, is it because my providers?
Edit: I was on 8.7.26 (Masik U 2.2)
@eyebiz
I would stick with whatever firmware your device has at present. It is probably more recent than firmware recommend by custom roms.
There is really no reason to update firmware, if your device is working well with what you have!
If the rom recommends a specific firmware, then you may need to upgrade, but don't downgrade firmware to match.
If I'm flashing firmware, I usually use the version from beta roms, as that is often the more recent firmware.
I only update roms, once a month when security patches included. And patch the firmware at the same time.
@rizdar Your network provider maybe the problem, check your APN settings with the recommend settings of your provider.
The three files mentioned in this thread, may not be alter from one firmware to the next. It is usually the bootloader (which we need to avoid for ARP) that regularly changes.
You could compare files and hashes from different firmware to see if there is changes.
Hi @corkiejp
I've created TWRP flashable .zip with latest stable modem, dsp and bluetooth here :
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eYys31FFgdxz4GyMFgMiuvoTWwwgER1Y/view?usp=drivesdk
The ARB should be fine as well,
I've tried myself, flashed it on top of 9.6.3 fw less ROM.
@otonieru Saw your post in the firmwareless rom thread. Are you same person that was creating these zips on xiaomi.eu?
Had a look at the script again, looks safe.
It would help if you labeled the zip with the date/version of firmware. i.e. Global 8.8.16.
Also I thought you where going to remove unneeded files. Don't know what update binary script does?
Edit: - Waiting on a RR rom update before flashing new partial firmware.

Oh, no, am not on xiaomi.eu. Just happen to look around the fw less thread, and it seems there's a need for a TWRP flashable zip for radio only update,
I use firmware file from git, and merged it with TWRP flashable zip. Only, i edit the updater script to make it only flash modem, bluetooth and DSP.
I didnt delete too much files from firmware update folder, only one i think is really safe to delete.
Alright, i will modify the file name.
It contain 8.8.16 Global files.

Have you a link to git, it would be easier to just download the three files for me, than extracting them from Firmware zips.
Apparently those firmware files are safe. I flashed them with a .zip file I put together. For anyone that wants to try you can download it from here.
Looks like @yshalsager is also going to provide update zips with just the three files as well.
@otonieru @Ookami999 He must of edited his automatic script to create the zips.

I edited the original one and signed the .zip, it seems to be working. Although the cell power consumption is still quite high so far.

It may or may not help your situation. If your worried about your anti version, there is non arb firmware zips available with just them files.
VoLTE is broken on most PIE roms (I believe based on discussions in TE) , check your rom thread and see if anyone else has it working. Or if there is Patch to enable it.

I NEED SOME TESTER FOR THIS TOOL BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE XIAOMI MI A2 LITE BUT I HAVE THE XIAOMI MI A2 !
This tool is based on Mi A2 toolkit v1.0.6 By Daha3ker and may have several bug because it changes with each OTA and the stock/unbrick option may have several bug but this problem is corrected in v1.0.3/v1.0.4.1/v1.0.4.2
Mi A2 Lite Toolkit
Only compatible with Windows for the moment but linux and macOS support will not be supported by me because I did not know about linux and macOS
v1.0.1 is based on Oreo october security patch (9.6.9.0.ODLMIFF)
v1.0.2 is based on Oreo november security patch (9.6.10.0.ODLMIFF)
v1.0.3 is based on Oreo november security patch (9.6.11.0.ODLMIFF), the stock and unbrick option is based on 9.6.10.0.ODLMIFF, the update option and the root/unroot option is based on 9.6.11.0.ODLMIFF
v1.0.4.1 is based on Pie november security patch (10.0.1.0.PDLMIFJ), the stock and unbrick option is based on 9.6.10.0.ODLMIFF, the update option and the root/unroot option is based on 10.0.1.0.PDLMIFJ
v1.0.4.2 is based on Oreo and Pie november security patch (9.6.11.0.ODLMIFF and 10.0.1.0.PDLMIFJ), the stock and unbrick option is based on 9.6.10.0.ODLMIFF, the update option is based on Oreo 9.6.11.0.ODLMIFF and Pie 10.0.1.0.PDLMIFJ, the root/unroot option is based on Pie 10.0.1.0.PDLMIFJ and for root Oreo 9.6.11.0.ODLMIFF you need to use ROOT_Oreo.bat
contains:
All features of Mi A2 toolkit By Daha3ker and update option for unrooted and rooted users
Download v1.0.4.2 here for Windows
Download v1.0.4.1 here for Windows
Download v1.0.3 here for Windows
Download v1.0.2 here for Windows
Download v1.0.1 here for Windows
Tips and tricks:
For root Oreo 9.6.11.0.ODLMIFF in v1.0.4.2 you need to use ROOT_Oreo.bat
If you are rooting, you can get OTAs if you use the unroot option and you have not changed the system too much or use the update option on v1.0.4.1/v1.0.4.2
You can receive OTAs even if Camera2 is enabled
If you use the Pie update option and you have problem with SIM card try flash modem.img in the two slot from the pie update folder via fastboot method :
fastboot flash modem_a modem.img
fastboot flash modem_b modem.img
Click to collapse
Or use the fix SIM card issue option in v1.0.4.2
When you use update option, It's normal to see "Invalid sparse file at header magic" when system.img, vendor.img and other file will be flashing and it takes a lot of time to flash when this message appears but you can wait for a maximum of 2 hour for the flash to be complete
