Howdy folks, I wanted to share a bit more about this amazing Android gaming device that launched last year on IGG. It is currently being delivered to folks, and is by far one of the best gaming handhelds running on Android.
Before breaking down the information, I do want to note that the Odin will enter the In-Demand phase, which means people can still back the Odin at retail price even after the last day of the campaign
If the information I collected here seems not accurate or if I missed something out, please feel free to point it out in the comments, and I'll be glad to address it.

I hope this information can be a good reference if you were curious about the Odin. If there is any other piece of information you are curious about, let me know and I'll be glad to answer your questions!
I've never used an emulator before, so I have no clue how to get started with one. I really appreciate how informative your instructions are, but I have no idea what any of the terms mean and I have no idea what anything is. I have a strong desire to buy the light, but I'm a little bit nervous about it since it could be too advanced for me. Any assistance is much appreciated. Thank you!!

Hi!
Emulating games is not that difficult, I should note each emulator might need certain settings. With that said, the essentials basically come down to:
Having a ROM file of your backed up games
Having the emulator for the system you want to try
In some emulators, it might ask for extra backup files form a console, like BIOS files, keys, etc.
There is a lot of great guides on Youtube to help you step by step. Since the AYN Odin is basically an Android device, these guides will also apply to this device:
Emulation Setup for Gamecube/Wii (using Dolphin)
Emulation Setup Overview (for most systems)
How to find backed up ROMS
Hopefully these resources can at least help you a bit!

Fortunately, the Pocket PC also has some Mario Kart games (please check out the link to find out what Mario Kart is all about if you don’t know the genre – I won’t elaborate on it in here).
You have, basically, three choices (and another one if you don’t necessarily want to stick to the “real” Mario style) to choose from if you want to play Pocket PC. In this roundup, I elaborate on all of them, along with a direct comparison.
Emulators
As handheld/console gaming devices also had / have Mario Kart ports, it may be a great idea to try to run them under an emulator on the Pocket PC. Fortunately, some later emulators of (comparatively) powerful handheld and console devices (mostly the newly-released 2700G-enabled PocketGBA and the OpenGL-enabled PocketSNES) are pretty usable on the Pocket PC, I’ve also examined one of them, PocketGBA:

Pros
Free if you have the ROM image (PocketGBA is free)
Cons
Speed only acceptable on 2700G-enabled, hardware accelerated Pocket PC’s
In no way so spectacular as the other two “real” Mario Kart clones
Other console platforms (for example SNES) also had their Mario Kart clones; for example, SNES had Super Mario Kart. I didn’t have the chance to test it because I only have the GBA-specific Mario Kart ROM’s.
Crazy Kart 1.03 by Int13
(current version 1.04; tested version 1.03 (I could only access the trial, which is version 1.03). Version 1.04 doesn’t seem to have anything over 1.03 except for some bugfixes.)
This is a good remake of the original game with some minor annoyances (for example, the lacking in definable on-screen controls). It, as opposed to the other titles, even has in-game music. It’s, however, isn’t anything to write home about: it’s mono, pretty short and, therefore, repetitive. Unfortunately, the add-on packs (the only contain new maps as targa images) don’t contain any new music either.
Pros
Gameplay is fast
Freely accessible add-on courses (albeit only four of the six are loadable)
Cons
Not compatible with any VGA devices (tested on three – none worked)
No steering on-screen controls
Map loading is VERY slow, even on fast devices
Note that, albeit the author of the game announced being working on part two, it has never been released.
MicroQuad 1.1 by viex games
This is another remake of the classic title. The developer, viex games, is known for a lot of quality, multiplatform titles (see for example their latest quality release, Gold Miner Joe) – MicroQuad is another example of these titles.
What distinguishes this game from the rest is, first, the multiplayer support. The multiplayer mode in MicroQuad 1.1 is really good – mainly that’s what makes this title definitely better than Crazy Kart. Both Palm OS and Pocket PC-based multiplayer is supported (Symbian doesn’t seem to be supported, multiplayer-wise). The two platforms aren’t, unfortunately, interoperable – that is, a, say, Bluetooth-enabled Palm OS T|3 device won’t be able to play Pocket PC’s via a BT PAN network and vice versa.
As the Pocket PC multiplayer is TCP/IP-based, it works over a several types of networks. I’ve tested the game with both Bluetooth PAN and Wi-Fi peer-to-peer connections (the latter is what you need to use when there’s no support for BT PAN in your device) – all worked. I’ve been able to play games between any of my Pocket PC’s over both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
In order to play multiplayer games, only one game (the one running on the hosting device) needs to be registered; the other(s) may be unregistered, demo devices. This is certainly good news for casual players (ones that want to quickly deploy the demo of the game on the Pocket PC’s of other people to play, without being forced to purchase the game for them too).
Unfortunately, there’re some bugs in the multiplayer mode. Sometimes (in about 5% of the cases) the game would just exit. Also, albeit, theoretically, the game supports more than two players at the same time, in no way (I’ve tested all the possible configurations) could I start the game with more than two players (only the client Pocket PC being the first in the client list would be connected by the server Pocket PC). This is certainly a program bug I’ve reported first to the author (this is pretty understandable, after all – not many people have more than two wireless Pocket PC’s to play mass-multiplayer games on). Hope it will soon be fixed. (I’ve offered the author my help and the ability to directly, remotely access my Pocket PC’s in order to run tests on them.)
Unfortunately, it’s only with ActiveSync-based connections that it displays the first three address segments of the local subnets; otherwise, with other kinds of connections (Wi-Fi P2P, BT PAN) you will need to enter them yourself.
Second, it has very well definable on-screen controls, unlike Crazy Kart, which only allows for acceleration/brake controls on screen (if not in auto-accelerated mode).
Pros
Great on-screen controls – much better than with any other title. You aren’t forced to use the D-pad with this game, unlike, with, say, Crazy Kart.
Unlike some of the other multiplayer titles, you can play multiplayer games with (all non-hosting devices running) the demo version
TCP/IP-based multiplayer, meaning the broadest compatibility
Unlike Crazy Kart, it's fully compatible with VGA devices - even the WM5-upgraded hx4700.
Cons
As of now, a little buggy multiplayer mode (no more simultaneous players than two). This will, however, surely change in the future.
Michael Schumacher Racing World Kart (MSRWK) by Inverse Entertainment GmbH
(current, tested version 1.46; the homepage of the developer is German-only but definitely worth checking out)
This game is hardly a “simple” remake of Mario Kart. It’s more of a self-standing, high-quality 3D title. As it’s still bears the most resemblance to Mario Kart from the list of the other Pocket PC racing titles listed for example here, I’ve decided to include it in the test, while leaving out titles for example the otherwise excellent Motocross Stunt Racer (see review here) because they’re even more different from the “classic” Mario Kart style.
Pros
a real 3D title, unlike the “simple” Mario Kart clones. However, it may be also considered its drawback, especially by younger players.
Cons
While Crazy Kart and MicroQuad runs on any (slow) device, you’d better run MSRWK on fast(er) devices
Not as appealing to little children as “real” Mario Kart clones
Feature and comparison chart
Available here, in the blog version of the article. Sorry for the need to click; there is no table support in the forum engine and, therefore, can’t include it in here. Make sure you scroll down for the chart.
Verdict
My personal favorite of all these titles is MicroQuad because of the excellent on-screen controls and support for multiplayer modes.
Crazy Kart comes as second; I, however, certainly prefer MicroQuad to it because of the lack of multiplayer capabilities of the former and the much worse controllability of Crazy Kart.
MSRWK, while indeed being a good racing game, in my opinion, too “heavy” a title. Not really meant for some quick Mario Kart runs but for die-hard 3D racing fans. The latter, however, may want to decide for a 2700G-enabled racer on the x50v/x51v; for example, GeoRally EX.

It's Streetfighter Alpha 3
more games working:
Medievil 1 and 2
Devil Dice
Load Runner
Micro Machines V3 (sound and graphic glitches but still playable)
Worms Armageddon
Contra - Legacy of War - graphics glitches on Options screen
Little Big Adventure
I've been playing with on screen button settings and see you can get L1/2 and R1/2 displayed for games that require L2/R2
Chrono cross fully works. No real frameskip problems.
Tomba 2 works perfectly.
Driver works perfectly.
Persona 2 - Tsumi works fine, juste a few frame skipped when entering a battle.
So when I get the Play where do I get these games from?
Do I have to use bit-torrent as I don't really want to use it, or is there a converter for the old PS1 games that I have?
http://www.google.com/search?client...rceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest I'm sure there is a guide somewhere that'll help you to back-up your games.

You could also assign them to your volume rockers and assign multiple keys to one button for example in final fantasy 8 where you need L2 & R2 To escape battle
But ty for the addition and the rest I feel we have a nice list to come

Another update from me, been ripping all my games to .bin with magic iso!!
Loaded: All full speed apart from the music which slows down every few seconds (this seems to a usual thing with games that have cd audio tracks)
Rapid Racer: Same as above
Motorhead: Glitchy graphics and wierd music but still playable
Carnage Hearts - Program those bots
Carnage Hearts - Working
anyone can try PES or Winning Eleven please?
Silent Hill - used to work almost perfectly in older FPse version, only problem was voices in cutscenes were completely out of order and random, made for some really funny cutscenes though!
but since 10.36 and 10.38, the game runs but no controls work at all in-game. even the on screen ones dont work!

FAQ's
Q. How to download an emulator?
Well, I have provided some of the best emulators available on PlayStore, so their shouldn't be any problem downloading them!
Q. I have downloaded a Rom. How to use it on emulator?
Open up the emulator and browse where you have saved the downloaded Rom. Select it and your game will start.
Q. How to save game?
After playing a game, if you want to save it, just click on the menu button and select "Save". If you are unable to find save option, refer to the instructions given by the emulators developer.
Q. Downloaded Rom but my emulator doesn't play/open the game?
Just check whether the file format is supported by the emulator you are using. Sometimes the Rom's are downloaded in .zip or .rar format and are not supported by some emulators. You need to extract them or use another emulator!
Also check if the downloaded Rom is for that particular emulator or not.
Eg: GBA Rom's wont work on any emulator other than GBA emulator!

This is obviously the biggest requirement for using the Wii Controller IME app, but given the insane popularity of Nintendo’s waggle-based system you’ve probably got several of these things lying around the house.
If you haven’t then you could probably ask your gran if you can borrow hers.
Step 2 – Download the app
Search for “Wii Controller IME” in the Android Market. Ryan’s app currently retails for the very reasonable $3.99 (about £2.70).
It’s worth noting that this app won’t function on phones which sport HTC’s Sense UI.
Step 3 – Initial setup
Once you’ve installed the app you need to tinker around with a few things to get it working. First up, you’ll need to enable it in your phone’s Language & Keyboard settings menu. Thankfully Wii Controller IME has a handy link which takes you straight to this menu. Tick the appropriate box and then press the back key to return to the app.
Step 4 – Enable Wii Remote Control
Next, you have to actually tell the phone to switch to the Wii Remote for input. Open up the “Select Input Method” menu and you’ll be given two choices – Android keyboard or Wii Controller. No prizes for guessing which one you have to tick.
On a side note – once you’re finished playing around with your games you’ll have to re-enter this menu and switch back to the Android keyboard: otherwise you won’t be able to type anything.
Step 5 – Make the connection
Okay, now for the amazing science bit. Take your Wii Remote and press the 1 and 2 buttons. This puts the Remote into “search” mode and it starts to scan for possible connections. Make sure you’re not stood next to your Wii console or it will simply connect to that instead.
Once you’ve done that, pressing the “Connnect [sic] Controllers” option in the Wii Controller IME main menu. You should see a dialogue box stating that the app is searching for nearby Remotes, and once a connection is made you’ll get confirmation of the fact.
Step 6 – Get your game on
Exit the app and load up your emulator. We’re using Yongzh’s excellent Gensoid, but all of his other emulators also include support for Bluetooth input.
Step 7 – Switch on input support
Yongzh’s emulators don’t support Bluetooth control straight out of the box – you’ll need to tick the “Use input method” option in the Settings menu.
Step 8 – Map the buttons
Once you’ve done this you might want to drop to the Key mappings menu to ensure everything is working as it should. For example, your directional commands may not necessarily be mapped to the same keys as are linked to the Wii Remote’s D-pad.
Step 9 – Play on, dear minstrel
And that’s it. Load up your game and play until you’re blue in the face.
At the moment, the app is best for machines which have three buttons or fewer, due to the fact that the Wii Remote doesn’t have all that many keys to use. This means the sublime SNesoid emulator is difficult to use at present, but Ryan has promised that Classic Controller support is coming.
When this is available you’ll be able to plug in your Wii Classic Controller – which boasts more buttons and an even better D-pad – so you can fully enjoy all of Android’s emulation opportunities.

Downloads
Sixaxis Compatibility Checker
Download
Sixaxis Controller
Download
Sixaxis Pairing Tool
V0.1 - Download File
V0.2.3 -Download File
Steps:
Step 1. Download
Download and install the application from the Android Market. It is highly recommended that you first download the 'Sixaxis Compatibility Checker' app to make sure your phone is compatible before purchasing the full application.
Step 2. Bluetooth
Tap the 'start' button and wait for bluetooth to initiate. If you get an 'Error: Missing required protocol' message, your device is not supported.
Step 3. Pair
If not already done, you must manually pair the controller with your phone. This can be done using 'SixaxisPairTool', or with 'MotionInJoy' or the linux utility 'sixpair'. Your phones bluetooth address should be shown at the bottom of the main application window and will look something like 1A:3C:13:00:21:C2; you need to enter this number into the 'SixaxisPairTool' as shown. This process only needs to be done the first time a controller is used on a different device, so if you only use the controller on one phone, you will only need to do it once.
Step 4. Test
Once paired, unplug the USB cable and press the power button on the controller. If successful, the lights on the controller will stop blinking and a single light will remain on.
Step 5. Compatibility Test
If you are running the compatibility checker, and pressing buttons on the controller results in button presses showing up in the app, congratulations, you can now download the full app.
Step 6. Change Input Method
Tap the 'Change Input Method' button and select 'Sixaxis Controller'. You should now be able to use the controller in any games or applications that support key bindings, such as many emulators.
Step 7. Add Controllers (If you want)
Subsequent controllers can be added at any time by pressing their power buttons.
*** You can change the fallback input method and key mappings in the applications settings.

LIST OF GAMES I PLAY
FarmVille2 - Playable ( but experienced LAG sometimes)
Framed - playable ( no LAGS)
Lara Croft Go - Playable ( No LAGS)
Leos Fortune - Playable ( sometimes i observe glitches 5 of 100 times)
LIMBO - Playable (no LAGS)
Sniper Hitman - Playable ( LAGS most of time when Aiming and reloading)
Subway Surfer - Playable ( but new updates are ruining smoothness)
Virtua Tennis - Playable ( No LAGS)
This War of Mine - Playable ( consumes so much juice )
asphalt 8 (high graphics - lots of framedrops only when car is crashed and other minor framedrops while racing)
nova 3 - (framedrops but still playable)
GTA vc (lags a lot even at 50% resolution - 30-33% resolution recommended for smoother play)
gt racing 2 (unplayable - lots of framedrops, but I tried older version, haven't checked latest one)
wild blood (working perfectly)
hitman go (working perfectly)
nfs most wanted (working perfectly)
dead trigger 2(working perfectly)
Disney duck tales (working perfectly)
monument valley (working perfectly)
Almost every game is playable on this device.
Did anyone try Batman Draknight Rises?? is it playable??
Every game I've tried runs just fine. These are just the more graphically demanding games I play without problem.
Dead Trigger 2 - Medium quality, high works as well with occasional stutter in massive battles.
Unkilled - Autodetect
Shadowgun DeadZone - Ultra quality
Modern Combat 5 - High quality
Critical Strike Portable
But I have also played these with no stuttering or lag.
Asphalt 8
Real Racing 3
Loe's Fortune
Dead Effect 2
Dark Meadow: The Pact
Simple Rockets runs well and Simple Planes plays fine, even without a gyroscope.
Here is some Asphalt 8 gameplay on high setting. Could be smoother, screen recorder software doesn't help. But overall not bad in my opinion.
