Question Any Case with raised side lips? - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Any suggestion for a case with raised side lips to actually protect the screen?
Speaking from personal experience, all cases out there are pretty useless for facedown drop screen protection(UAG,Otterbox,Supcase included).I found only one with side raised lips. Temdan case.Any other similar case?

The Zizo Bolt series. Excellent drop protection.
That's all I use on my N10+'s.

I've used Ringke Fusion cases on my last two Samsung phones and they are great. Good Protection, raised edge so the screen nor the camera lenses will rest on a flat surface.

I like clear cases to show off the really nice but slippery phone.

I have found that a lot of the cases that advertise screen protection like you want have the raised bezel on the top and bottom. But the sides are not raised. This does hold the screen off a table if put face down, but it does not offer even slight protection from bumping the side edges of the curved screen.

The Bolt does. These are tough cases.
The kickstand on the phone case tends to break with use but it's the only case I'll use on my N10+'s. Zero damage in over 2.5 years with multiple 2-4 foot drops onto concrete.

I had the Ottebox Defender Pro for the S20U. I also got it again for the S22U. The reason being it offers excellent drop protection. I have never seen a phone fall from any height and land screen down completely flat. It will hit one side or top or bottom first before resting flat.
Anyway the s20U had two mishaps where I knocked or dropped the phone accidentally onto the concrete kitchen floor at work. The s22U has hit the floor once so far. In all three cases there were no scratches or damage to the phone. Hell the case didn't even get scratched, knicked or sliced. I also don't use a screen protector. So that is testimony to the quality of the Product. I work in the Restaurant and Catering business which is a punishing environment. All the phones I have had in the past with Otter Box cases (Commuter and Defender) got traded-in to Samsung in pristine condition. The only negative about the Defender Pro is it will add some heft to your phone. But it's worth it to me.

[REVIEW] "Black Rubber Feel Hard Case Cover w/Belt Clip"

I ordered one of these off of Amazon Friday when I got my Nexus
goo.gl/qpBr
I ordered through DayDeals. I received the two halves that snap together, but no belt clip
I want to note that the sides not shown in the picture are white, and it makes viewing the sides inconsistent and kinda ugly. It fits like a very tight glove except for the top left corner. It doesn't snap down all the way.
The case is very light, and in my opinion flimsy. I don't care too much about protecting it from light scratches, as I've ordered a full-body skin from Zagg to do that. I want to protect it from accidental drops, and I don't think this case can do that for me.
It flexes easily and unnecessarily.
I do like it shape, if it were to snap down completely. It leaves the entire screen open for my fingers to fing, and all controls are easily accessible, no ports or holes are covered up.
I also noticed that having a case prevents my hand from touching the screen and screwing up the points at which the screen recognizes input.
However this is overshadowed by the fact that the case provides less friction or grip than the phone without the case. I found the phone would slip slowly out of my palms while trying to type in horizontal mode.
Pros:
Nicely shaped
Doesn't cover holes or controls
Very light and unobtrusive
Improves accuracy with touch screen
Cons:
Did not include belt clip
Flimsy
Slippery
Does not fully fit over the phone
Unlikely to protect the phone in case of accidental drops
Overall I would give this product 3 points on a scale of 10. For less than $10 I didn't really expect much. I'd much prefer a Body Glove hard shell case similar to the one I had with my MT3G.
I got the same case and have the exact same issues. Already ordered a TPU case to replace it.
I have the same case as well, and would have to say that I agree with all your points... one thing (maybe the only thing) I like about the case is that it didn't add a whole lot of bulk, and still fits in my Case Logic holster which already had a snug fit for the phone.
I got two of these off ebay and both fit the phone perfectly. I know what you're talking about with regards to fit though. I ran into the same problem with similar cases for the G1 several times.

Case + screen protector, just case, or just screen protector?

I have an Incipio clear case on right now. It makes my glass screen protector pop off. So that's off for now.
I'm on my second PH-1 after a very minor fall cracked the screen on my first. (It was naked) But I had dropped it a couple of times.
Here's the thing, the back and sides were completely unscathed. The screen chipped a tiny bit on the corner on the first fall and then cracked across it with some shattering in the corner on another (from about a 1.5' fall from pocket to concrete when I was sitting on a bench).
With just a glass screen protector, you can hardly even tell it's on there (aka the phone still looks great). It also seems like with a good positioning, the SP or the plastic surround would make the first contact on any fall (given a relatively flat surface with no protrusions), thus protecting the screen. Aesthetically, I would love to get away with just the SP. I don't like casing this phone.
On the other hand, most cases are designed to also make first contact on a fall via a lip around the screen, etc. (The point of conflict with the SPs). So it would seem that a case alone should provide protection against screen shattering in most mundane falls also (again, barring protrusions).
So, what is your experience? Does anyone go screen protector only? Or case only? Have you had a screen break with either?
I have the incipio as well and go without a screen protector. I also have a belt holster to protect the phone from falling out my pocket. I am very anal with phones and have not dropped this one or my prior Android phones (I've dropped my Lumia 920 once but that just had a dent in the plastic housing). I've seen that video in which somebody tested the PH-1 with falls from different heights and know that the first thing that will break on it will be the screen under the right conditions. The rest of the phone is rock solid. That might be one problem that leads to cracks when it falls onto the corners (no dampening and direct energy transfer to the glass). I don't think a screen protector will do much in that case either.
that's my experience.
I'm totally enjoying this phone
cheers
I've just been using a screen protector and fitBAG leather sleeve. The Halo Gray has soft touch texture on the ceramic which makes it easier to grips than the shiny colors.

Encased Rebel & GPEL Glass Screen Protector

I'm very OCD when it comes to my phones, I think anyone who'd join XDA probably is, but over my life as a musician & recording enthusiast I've learned that pampering & protecting my gear/kit/tech, etc. yields big dividends: longer life, higher resale value, better obsolescence rejection, etc.
On my smartphone I like a heavy duty case, cause I drop my phone more than I'd like to admit. Not from 6 feet on concrete drops, but plenty of sitting on the couch/edge of bed drowsy drops to the carpet below. I want a stout case also because it makes these increasingly paper thin devices easier to handle. After hunting one down I bought the Encased Rebel, which is basically a very good OtterBox clone, and for the screen protector, after buying several through trial and error, the GPEL Note 9 glass protector is working very well.
The hard part in using a really stout case with Samsung's curved screened phones is that after getting one with a raised lip around the screen (a feature you want), most glass screen protectors don't provide enough clearance to avoid rubbing against the raised lip of the case, causing it to peel off and eventually drop off. The GPEL protector, labeled case friendly, has a few millimeters taken away from the edge of the protector that allows the case to rest besides it with no contact.
I'm adding some pictures I posted in my Amazon reviews of these two products that show a bit of what I'm trying to describe, sorry they're not pro level by far. But for under $30 you can get a very good heavy-duty case & a screen protector that is performing great; no need for the increased sensitivity feature to be turned on & no separation or bubbles anywhere. Since there's no adhesive on the main center glass, just on the edges, in some light a slight rainbow effect can be seen, but it's nothing that interferes with the screens quality during normal viewing.
Just offering this duo as a suggestion, for when I got my Note 9 I wish there were a few more real world use descriptions about which heavy duty case worked well with what screen protector. Be cool...

Think I'm gonna get one of those screen protectors and see how it works with some optical adheasive.
Just wasted $53.00 on the ZAGG Elite (full adhesive) for the Note 9. This thing cracked just using the included squeegee trying to get the massive amount of bubbles out. Now, I have the pay ZAGG $9.99 just to ship me a replacement.
Might order the G-Pel and give it a try while waiting on ZAGG to send my replacement.

Fuhhh...Well, let me put over GPEL here like I did in my Amazon review, I just didn't want to come off as some shill. When I first ordered the Note 9 glass protector from GPEL on Amazon it showed up in a rough looking package which, sure as sh#t, contained my 2 pack of protectors with a crack in one of them.
I emailed GPEL's customer support and within hours they emailed me a confirmation number of the replacement shipment. Really good customer service. I despise installing screen protectors: the plastic film type were hell with the air bubbles, the wet application protectors are such a hassle, worrying about stray dust, etc. The GPEL has this bracket that came with it that makes lining up the glass really t. The key is patience and having plenty of light. Good luck brother...
How bad are the oil slicks with this G-Pel?

I've noticed it really depends on lighting for some reason. In my kitchen with lots of high watt LCD floods I can see a bit of a rainbow/oil slick but with the screen on and the brightness even as low as 35% or full blast it's pretty much a no issue.
But in other lighting in my house & at times outdoors, I can't see any rainbow/slick whatsoever. So I don't know; to me the only time I notice it or it bugs me is when the screen is off.

I used one of those and I have a few notes on it.
-Adheasive is strong and super thick. Will add impact protection but being so this squeegeeing you have to be careful. Very easy to crack since the adhesive is so thick and soft.
- One the corner would not stick. Mesured it at work the top right corners adheasive was 50um thicker then the rest. This was from a bad batche. Replacement was fine.
-borderes cutinto the display. You will lose the very edge and have an annoying tiny thin line of light when you are in a dark room looking at it.
-soft adheasive when pressing on a corner you can see it ooze out. It returns to normal but this will collect dust at the edges. I'm
Really like to see that as a all clear glass and better guide on how to squeegee it. Mine did not break but I could feel flex. Requires a more gentle touch when doing this. And the time required to get the bubbles out is increased 5 fold because of this. But that soft adheasive add impact protection.

Thanks for this. This seems like a decent full adhesive protector though.
You got any tips to help me get the replacement on without cracking the thing?
I guess just be careful along the edges.
I had my first drop, from about 3 ft in the bathroom, on tile floor and it was fine. I HATE doing that, but no damage at all BUT...it looks like some dust worked it's way under the protector resting in the top middle, so must've jolted it enough for some dust to slip in. I dunno...
It's not the end of the world but goddamn, first world problems or not the whole screen protector gimmick is a pain in the a##! I know I keep hearing it from people I know " get the Dome" but I'm more worried about not installing it JUST so than the bread.
One other option I'm considering is a wrist strap. On some of the Ringke cases there is a hole pre made on the case, I guess if I kept using the Rebel I'd have to thread the lanyard deal through the SPen opening on that top lip area. I don't know...

I don't use screen protectors myself, but,if I were in the same situation & the end result was merely a damaged screen protector,I'd consider myself fortunate & chalk one up in the win column.
Should my daily usage dictate that rollin' with one would be a wise decision,I'd definitely consider it.
The screen protector did its job,it saved your display & saved you from a costly repair.
If you were otherwise pleased w/the screen protector,I'd just get another, the price is certainly much less than a display replacement. (Perhaps pair it up w/a case-friendly Otterbox)
The only other option I'd look for is a screen protector that has some sort of free replacement, provided you're not on the hook for any fees (shipping/etc..).

What cases have a lip around the sides to protect the sides of the curved screen?

Are there any cases out there with a lip to protect the sides of the curved screen? I've only owned phones with flat screens before and only used cases with a lip all around. Just worried about the sides of the curved screen getting damaged in an accidental drop if there isn't a lip to protect it.
Thanks

Quite a few do. The Otterbox does, but that's the only case I use so I can't name the others.
Most make with TOP and BOTTOM lips to lift the display but a couple have ALL AROUND lips. For a curved display, I prefer the TOP and BOTTOM only because it leaves the curved sides unobstructed.
even with lip protection, all it takes is a fall flat on the ground a nick to mess up the screen, i lost out on my s7 edge that way even though i had a unicorn beetle, my back glass also cracked even though had double protection in the case.
I have dropped my S9 and my previous Honor 8 more times than I can count on concrete and everything else in Otterbox Commuter cases and neither ever suffered a mark.
This was the first case I bought for my s8. It came up over the sides. I felt it blocked the overall look. I bought the phone for the curves. I hope this helps.
With it on the phone.
Tuff cases WITH the military grade shield on the products protect the sides of the glass as well. My s7 Edge has been dropped a lot and have suffered no damage. There are Tuff cases without the shield on the product but they are NOT as good for the sides of the phone.
Speck Presido Grip .
Yes I can confirm Speck Presido Grip has a slightly raised lip above the screen. It's only about as high as a piece of paper but still it's above the screen. Nice case.

For those who own the following cases:
Spigen Tough Armor
Tech21 Evo Check
Supcase UB Pro
Speck Presidio Pro
Rhinoshield Solidsuit Classic
Otterbox Symmetry/Commuter
Are the side lips higher than the screen or only top and bottom?
If you have wireless charger, does it work with the case and how about the reverse charge?
Thanks

Looks great but does it lay as flat as the Incipio Dual Pro on table top? Would be great if you can take a picture with similar angle. Thanks.

It doesn't sit totally flat because of the ridges on the back but it isn't terrible. I only get a slight rock when pressing on the very edges. The pics do make it look worse than it is.

I swear by the Speck Grip case. I am gentle on phones but it has never let me down with the occasional drop. It is thin but has great grip. Not an exciting case. A functional everyday case.
I HIGHLY recommend the Whitestone protectors. The adhesive makes them SUBSTANTIALLY more chip/crack resistant and the touch sensitivity is light years ahead of other protectors (like ZAGG). It was my go-to on Note and now S10+.
I am a minimalist and finally found a case that's thin but also adds SOME protection. TORRAS on Amazon. The hard plastic has a matte finish, amazing touch and feel but little protection. The silicone option is thin, has ridges to protect camera and screen but slides in pants and pockets easily. It DOES offer drop protection relatively.
The speck grip isn't available in Australia. I had the opportunity to use the Spigen Slim Armor (two piece case with kickstand) and incipio dualpro (two piece).
The Spigen does not have a lip that is raised up on the sides of the screen, but has lips on the top and bottom.
The incipio dualpro does have a very small lip on the sides that is raised above the screen. It's at most the thickness of a sheet of paper. I will take some pictures later.
The buttons on the incipio are much better and I have returned the Spigen case, although I will miss the kickstand.
Otterbox Pursuit lips is raised all around including the sides.

Question Any S22 ultra case with raised edge all around the screen

Hi all. Any one know of a case that has raised edges not just the top and bottom but also on the edges.
For S22 ultra case with raised edge all around the screen?
iface
Zizo Bolt. I have my doubts about the screen protector but the Bolt cases are tough, don't attract dirt and easy to hold. It's the only case I use on my N10+'s.

The S22U has a curved screen. Pretty much any case, unless it's completely enclosed (like the Otterbox Defender) will leave the sides open.

The Bolt guards are slightly higher than the display on the sides which also helps prevent accidental touches but leaves it still usable. It has guards that are raised higher on the top and bottom.
The polycarbonate shell rigidity holds the inner shell in place even on hard corner impacts and multiple impacts.

Had a feeling you'd say this.
The Speck Presidio Grip and presumably the Perfect Mist come up quite high.

Doesn't happen on the gray or black ones to me.
The case kick stand will break with normal usage though... no big deal. They get rotated out every 6-12 months*.
In a nasty drop it hasn't failed me yet including repeated Spen corner first hits.
If a corner has taken repeated hits though and has a slight shininess to it (indicating possible material fatigue), I replace it. At $20 a pop it's good insurance.
*Just part of basic maintenance.
I'm pretty sure Encased Rebel has all sides raised, although the case is quite chunky and rigid.

Or just spend a little more and get a case that lasts longer than 6-12 months.
