I use an accessibility app from here that allows long press volume up + down to activate and deactivate flashlight. Worked fine even screen off no aod on OneUI 4.0 Feb but after updating to 4.1 it barely works and only with screen on.
So, I decided to test other stuff and yeah it completely broke accessibility.
The touch and hold delay setting does nothing, it always takes like 2-3 seconds for anything to activate even when set to very short 0.3s, no longer works screen off at all.. GG Samsung..
Lol, my one N10+ is still happily running on Pie.
Upgrades and updates can and do break things.
It's a Samsung tradition... Samsung will eventually patch it.
Try clearing the system cache as that may correct it.

Clearing cache didn't help but thanks for the tip. And thanks Samsung for not allowing us to access recovery without the usb-c plugged in.
It doesn't work on aod either. Only when fully waking the device. I wonder if this is intended behavior or just a huge bug.
Can anyone else on a S21/+/Ultra with march 4.1 test accessibility shortcuts on screen off state?

Your welcome.
Try in safe mode to rule out a 3rd party app interference.
Try clearing the data in the accessibility apk.
Turn off Developer options temporarily.
Play with it, there's probably a fix or work around.

Did that, no difference. I did figure out what Samsung did actually.
They changed it so that long press volume up + down is 3 seconds and ignores the long press delay setting completely. And it also no longer works screen off while it used to work fine.
They also changed auto rotate sensitivity which makes it rotate with the slightest motion which is annoying as hell when reading something I'm bed for example as it constantly rotates..
Rolling back to Feb 4.0...
Do you have com.samsung.SMT disabled or removed?

This is one reason why I almost never upgrade or update. I don't like rude surprises.
Still running on Android 9 and 10; if it runs well I leave it be.
Funny what you say about the display flipping too easy; I get tired of waiting for it to transition.
They should have user settings for that by now.
Wonder if there's a 3rd party app to dial that in?

KeepItOn (KIO) is an application designed to end the scourge of the screen turns off while we are reading or watching something. So annoying, at least for me…
How it works
KIO detect any small movements and prolongs the time to turn off the screen, like if you have touched the screen. Even if the screen turns off, you can always shake to wake you up during a time set by you, default is 5 seconds, and by shake I mean move slightly.
Please test it, rate it and give your feedback.
I will try to attend possible requests as soon as I can.

Thanks great idea as it alwasy annoy me when screen turns off while i am reading, willl give it a try I hope it wont consume too much battery
very useful, thank you. keep your work!
How is the battery consumption?
This goes on back process yes?
how this will affect on battery?
Thank you Sir :good: .. Works good on Lenovo A3000 with andrid 4.2.2
Will motion keep it awake if it's in your pocket and you're walking, or does it use the proximity sensor to prevent that? Will the motion of a moving car keep the screen from turning off?

Yes, this is a background process that reads the accelerometer. However when screen is off the service is running but it is doing nothing.
I am using for two weeks and have not noticed any significant change with the battery consumption.

Thanks for the app and reply, will try and post the feedback.
Is there something like this for Xposed?
"Pocket mode" added.
Due to all the requests that I have had, I decide to add a feature that check the proximity sensor in order to detect if phone is in the pocket, prevent that way that phone stay alive forever in the pocket, draining all the battery.
Please test it and help me make KeepItOn better.
Happy new year everyone!
I've previously turned on the app, set it to "auto start", rebooted & now I've noticed that it was turned off. Maybe this was only to me. By the way, great app.
sir you deserved lots of thanks from me it's great app
I can see advantages to this app and I can see disadvantages too...
Is there any way to make this "app dependant", so like it will only keep the screen on when compared to a whitelist of apps, otherwise it will leave the screen off as normal? For example, it would be very useful to have the screen stay on for reading from a browser, but not when my phone is just displaying the launcher homescreen? I know it is probably asking the earth or close to the impossible but I thought i would ask anyway
New update available.
- Notification Icon
- Minor bug fixes
This update is a big update for android 4.4.2 users since there is a bug on that android version, for that users "Notification Icon" must be always on. More info here.

The first objective of the app is the simplicity, but I will though about that feature and see if it's worth.
I've got notification icon enabled in settings but I don't see the icon in the status bar. Running 4.4.4 on a Sprint Moto X.
Hello, everyone!
Yesterday I discovered that my device doesn't detect its own orientation. It was after I tried to record a video and it came out vertical. I thought it was a ROM bug (since I was using the CyanogenMod nightlies), but I flashed with RSD Lite (cleanly) both 5.0.1 and the latest 6.0 ROMs and it still doesn't work. Sensor apps detect changes in the numbers when I move the device, though. I haven't dropped my Moto MAXX, and I always use it with a case...
Is there any way to recalibrate the sensors or something? I can provide any information or log if you tell me how to grab them.
Thanks!
Okay, this is REALLY weird. After a whole afternoon believing it was something software-related, I gently hit my device against the table three or four times and now it rotates correctly...

I was kind of desperate about the matter, probably I would have gone with the hammer option if the table hits hadn't worked.
By the way, and following my original post, is the gyroscope a mechanical thing? Or is it electrical?

It's the accelerometer.
Here's an issue Samung had with the Galaxy S6 at launch a year ago:
Samsung confirms screen-rotation problem with some Galaxy S6 Edge phones
http://www.computerworld.com/articl...-problem-with-some-galaxy-s6-edge-phones.html
Some Edge users have raised various theories about what causes the problem. One theory is that Samsung's fast-charging cord fried the chip that controls the accelerometer sensor, which affects rotation of images on the display. Another theory is that certain apps on the Edge — either third-party or pre-installed apps — have not been updated sufficiently to be compatible with recent minor Android OS updates. That lack of compatibility could somehow restrict the software controlling auto-rotation.
A Samsung technician on the 800-support line told Computerworld that users affected by the auto-rotate problem are being asked to test the faulty device by first going to "safe mode" to allow the phone to operate without third-party apps loaded by the user. If the problem persists after that test, the users are then asked to try a "hard key re-set" of the phone, which basically wipes all personal data and contacts and initiates a factory reset upon a reboot of the phone. The technician said personal data can first be stored to a remote backup location through the Samsung Kies or Samsung Smart Switch applications.
The technician didn't indicate what Samsung might do if the hard key re-set fails to fix the auto-rotate problem. A Samsung tech will walk users through the various steps required to perform the tests or Samsung can do the tests remotely.
The Samsung technician's course of action seems to indicate the problem is related to incompatible software, not hardware, but Samsung is not saying officially what the cause or the solution may be.
An Edge user named "IDOG" reported early Wednesday at Android Forums that he may have found the culprit. He said the rotation problem occurred when using the third-party Nova Launcher, but not when using TouchWiz, which is Samsung's own front-end touch interface. Nova Launcher, a third-party Android app by TeslaCoil Software, replaces a user's home screen with one that is customizable.
IDOG said Nova Launcher has so far worked fine after he uninstalled it and then re-installed it without borrowing any of the settings from his prior install of the launcher.
As a result of IDOG's field work, in theory, something as seemingly insignificant as user settings inside a third-party app could be part of Samsung's problem with some Edge screens not rotating properly

This App is, of course, free, open-source, GPL-V3, without any ads! I've made everything: Material Icons based on Google Guidelines, Developement, website, packaging.
It's for you! Eh, after all, you gave me LineageOS on my old Sony Xperia SP

Finally I found this (on F-Droid), thanks!
Do you know if it works on Pie?
(I always depended on Xposed + Airplane Mode Helper + Timeriffic.
But I want to use Pie, which doesn't have Xposed.
Forgive me, I can of course try myself, but that takes hours if unsuccessful.)
Minor feature requests (idk if you still care/maintain, but you asked, so there):
- Be able to set times while toggle is set on Disabled
- When changing time, preset time chooser to current setting, instead of always 23h/8h

Actually, your comment has motivated me to rework on this App. I switched from unlocked Xperia to locked Galaxy S7. It was very complicated but I successfully managed to be root again. I will rework on the UI, and make it close to Google Calendar (week view).
I've found an open source library which does that, so it will be easy to set offline periods.
My pleasure, thanks for listening!
Yes, it works fine on Galaxy S4 Mini LTE + AospExtended 4.6 (Nougat).
As you are still interested in feedback:
Personally I really don't care about this, but it doesn't trigger exactly on time, maybe only during Doze mode "maintenance windows" every 9 minutes. I already disabled Battery optimization for it.
Maybe most people (like me) already use other schedule/profile apps that have plenty features, so they don't search for alternatives.
But afaik, they all need Xposed + Airplane Mode Helper.
So maybe your app gets more popular, as long as your app does work on Pie, and Xposed does not.
Thanks for this app! I just discovered it recently and so far it does exactly what it is supposed to do: Automatically send the phone to airplane mode during the night and wake it up in the morning.
If you could as you mentioned add some form of a calendar view to the app then one could use the app much more individually (e.g. use different times on the weekend). That would be a great improvement!
Moreover, I would like to also add another feature request:
Would it be possible to enable/disable airplane mode only partially. For instance only switch off mobile connections while leaving Wifi turned on or the other way around?
Please keep up the good work :good:
Thanks for this app!Yes, it works fine on LG G5 .
It turns airplane mode on, but turning off isn't working. Android 10, Redmi Note 4, crdroid 6.11.
Update: on the 5th try it turned off. Really strange.
At least most of the time it works perfect on Android 9 (S4 Mini i9195, lineage-16.0-20200515).
I let it switch automatically, and rarely change settings or otherwise interfere.
I vaguely remember some failure, I might have rebooted or cleared cache in the past to solve it.
But that is so rare, that I can't remember exactly.
Android 10 is here! You can now update to 52.1.A.0.532.
Dark mode is here! Launcher was not updated, so no gestures, and things like the Google search bar stay light in dark mode as a result. Recent apps / multitasking is the same as it was on Pie.
Digital Wellbeing and other Android 10 goodies are of course available.

Frustrating no gestural navigation ?
I was waiting this major update to unlock bootloader and root my XZ2 Compact, let's hope I won't lost features like camera (normally not since Android 9)
Camera api still not support RAW
I installed and I must say the animations don't seem fluid, the phone is lagging overall since the update, and the fingerprint scanner isn't responding properly

Same problem with the fingerprint scanner
Hello, I'm new but I want to share this update with you.
I did an hard reset after the update to avoid dealing with fixable issues.
Fingerprint require lot of touching if the screen is off.
Recorded mic audio is low. Never been that high though.
Camera often crash when opened or freeze after taking a shot.
Once in call they stopped to hear me on the other side. Needed to restart the call.
No gestures, no new app switcher. Same apps. Got the the wellbeing tool, smart answers, dark theme, system updates trough play store...
Battery and perfomance are fine on my terminal. I use only one sim and no memory card.
I will edit this message while i discover new issues.
Got the Update today. Xperia XZ2 Compact.
Immediately after the update process i noticed a significant drop in microphone volume (microphone sensitivity) when recording voice messages.
Can somebody confirm this systemwide issue?
If yes, is there a non-root solution or even a new setting involved?
(My volume settings are all at maximum)
I also confirm fingerprint issues
Slow fingerprint scanner issue in here too. Takes about a second of two to unlock the device when screen is off. However it's faster with screen already on.
Good to know Sony is subjecting its latest software to intense Delta testing.
I might skip the update until they get the kinks worked out. Remember how much fun the connectivity issues were a few updates ago?
Just updated - I noticed just one (SIM1) operator name on lock screen. Dual sim feature is working fine , signal bars are visible just not displaying SIM2 operator - any hint? Fingerprint seems fine to me.
About the fingerprint problem: Its completely fine if you wake the screen first with the power button. Maybe its intended: I had a lot of issues with accidental unlocks.
Still, annoying.

If it is intended, it is a massive step backwards. The less you use the power button, the better.
I like fingerprint to wake and tap to sleep.
They even removed the activation of the fly mode in "night action" from Xperia assist, wtf is wrong with them ?
Gonna downgrade asap.

You're right, I did and now I meet huge battery drain :silly:
Is there a way to swap button on navbar ? I mean reverse recent and back button.
what does Android 10 add for the XZ2 Compact since Sony excluded features like gestures? system dark mode is nice, but it's not that important for a LCD screen phone like the XZ2.
Anyone know if the update has been pulled? Been spamming the update button and nothing is coming up. Anyone can comment if update is really that bad ?
Have been a great fan of Vivid Navigation Gestures for years, until I switched over to Xiaomi 12S Ultra and realized I couldn't make it work despite disabling all battery optimizations & enabling all permissions. Which gestures app can work properly without it closing by itself after long lock periods, and allow me to disable the navbar?

all of them can do it you just need to know what to change in miui settings.
I use FNG.
* disable miui battery optimization
* enable autostart
* go to apps -> system app settings -> security -> boost speed -> lock apps (enable fng)
* pull down notification shade and switch to toggles, click on the edit icon. drag the fng toggle to your "added toggles"
in the rare case where FNG is shut down you can just pull down the toggles shade disable enable it and you're back in business.

Try FNG instead. I got max 3 restarts a day
3 a day is still a lot. Is there any gestures app that has a no-kill notification service?
In addition, that app was not maintained since 2019

3 is better than 10, I don't know why it happens. If you are rooted you can try making this an admin app. Maybe that will prevent it from restarting
is there any easy way to root the phone without bricking it? Thank you.
This is the solution. Need to stop Miui from closing app.
Swipe up and hold to enter app tabs. Press and hold on FNG, then press the lock icon.
This stops the system from closing.
as shown in screenshots above, locking it doesn't prevent auto-close by system.

Oh I forgot to mention I'm on Xiaomi.eu rom.
can I port to eu ROM while maintaining all my apps, configs, settings?
No. It may be a different ROM branch and may have different partition differences as well as system apps being non Chinese versions. You might find it just boot loops if you do.
Just make sure you back everything in Google back up and have it set for auto restore and most settings and apps will get put back on with settings via the Google back up after you configure the Google account once flashed and formatted.

Finally I think I found a way to make FluidNG working without any breaks. Just use tasker and create a task that FluidNG (or your favourite gesture app) starts when you unlock your screen. Second: launch app "go to home screen". That's it. Working for a few days perfectly.
