Oneplus 9 from 24 degrees heats up to 38 degrees with normal use without playing games.
Even with fast battery charging, it does not reach such temperatures.
I've tried various oxygen software but they're all hot.
How can this phone cool down? Can any custom rom be good?

Try evolution x or Derpfest rom both are very stable, evolution x is A11 and Derpfest is A12. Just depends on what you prefer. They both have ota updates, be sure that you rollback to current oxygen os 11 build CANNOT BE on android 12!

Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Xiaomi Mi 5 stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Phone doesn't heat much, hovewer on the upper side you can definitely notice a lot higher temperature i.e. during playing heavy games
In my last use of MIUI 8.0.1.0 Global Stable, I have heat issues.
So bad, it felt like burning from inside. Switched to CM 13 (Now at CM 14), heat is minimum when playing heavy games.
I think it is about how bad MIUI optimization, or maybe MIUI 8 didn't mature enough at that time.
It gets hot charging and using wifi gaming at the same time
Hi all,
I'm using CM 13, and playing Real Racing 3, it gets extremely hot, not only the top, all the smartphone, it's really uncomfortable.
Do you think that updating to CM 14 the problem will solve?
Because it also starts slowing the image and the game jumps.
Best regards
Alec
My Mi 5 running unofficial lineage 14.1 by shade.sh and brand kernel does not heat up often. When it does occasionally heat up due to very intensive apps, its is very bearable and not too hot IMO. I am however using a thin rubber case and that may be the reason why I do not feel it being as hot as you described!
Thanks for the answer, yesterday night I changed to CM 14.1 and using RR3 it gets worm but not as hot as with CM 13.1
Regards
cool
Remember its just a computer with a "phone function". It does get warm under heavy load. But only when i really run games for at least 20min. And it may get hot if you install a new rom and tons of apps in a short period. Usually its cool (running official lineageos 14.1).
I have Lineage OS 14.1 Overclocked with dragonxia kernel and it doesn't heats too much while playing asphalt 8
Im on the newest LOS and the device gets really warm on the upper side when you charge it and use skype at the same time (thats probably because skype eats the battery really fast)
I have come from LG Flex 2 to Xiaomi Mi5. Believe me nobody knows what baking really is while using your phone! Cherry on the cake, my LG actually fried in its last days, as per the phone repair people. Now it just keeps restarting every now and then.. . Fully satisfied with the Xiaomi Mi5 temperatures while playing online games like 8ball and CoC. The LG used to heat up in our city temperature of around 30 degrees within 15-20 minutes. In AC it was better, around half an hour.
But Xiaomi Mi5 gives me a respectable 40-50 minute game before slightly heating up. And that heating too is completely tolerable, when compared to Flex2 !!
With almost 2 hours of gaming and other office work, I get 5h15m plus screen on time as well
Oh yes, I have found this out, the Motorola QC-3.0 charger which came with my sister's MotoG4 heats up my phone VERY MUCH!
And when compared, the Mi5 original QC-3.0 charger does not heat up the phone THAT much. I have seen voltage differences but the Moto charger has lower voltages and that should practically not heat up my phone a lot. I use the Moto charger at office and the Mi charger at home, both in AC rooms.
Heating to much... And when the phone heats up, it starts to slow down... (8.5.2 eu stable)
"Everyone" is saying: "do not go with this soc, it overheats, it has overdraining battery issues...". Is it really that bad? Or was that true only at the beginning and now after few firmware updates everything is allright and great soc to go?
Looking for an answer in this question too.
I'm on mi 9 lite and want an upgrade.
We have a huge price drop on Xiaomi 12. And I'm looking for a user experienced answer. Thanks!
Maybe check some reviews/test from other phones with this SoC.
Poco F4 GT, Realme GT 2 Pro, Motorola Edge 30 Pro, OnePlus 10 Pro, Oppo Find X5 Pro, ...

It's not a good SoC. But I'm looking for user experience on latest miui updates. How does battery perform after so many updates?
It overheats from Youtube/TikTok, Idle battery drain is 1%/hr on Wi-Fi, no BT, no GPS

Say no more. I still have 0.19%/hr idle drain on my mi 9 lite here.
Yeah its the case with my Xiaomi 12, but tolerable.
If you use only social media apps and browsers, the phone heats up but not severe and battery depleted about 1%/5 minutes.
But gaming otherwise, if you play moderately heavy games (genshin impacts) in places without fans or conditioners, this phone heats up quite fast, the fps count drops and the whole experience become worse over time.
Hello. Tell me please, does everyone heat up the device to 35 degrees for simple tasks? I'm sitting in a telegram, listening to music through bluetooth headphones and 34 degrees Celsius ... It seems that my Magisk mods are not resource-intensive
And yes, I have Magisk Delta. Could it be causing the heat?
Well I would not consider 35 deg overheating

It's winter now, the room is 13 degrees. And in the summer it will probably be the same as with my last pixel 6 pro - 46 degrees. Near Samsung s22 ultra on snapdragon - 25 degrees in total
I get what your saying it is running hotter than you expect, it is not overheating as per your title.
I posted in another thread I Was having heating problems until I flashed the Kirasakura kernel. Now my phone stays up t o10 degrees cooler than on stock.
And DAMN you use a lot of Magisk Modules
I would say probably that Dolby mod.
Streaming music indeed cause overheating to this phone with stock kernel. Spotify is okay. YT Music is disaster.
Tecno Phantom X2 was released in India on 9th Jan 2023 with HiOS v12.0.0. Build Number is AD8-H831B-S-GL-221116V1910
The OS is buggy with battery drain issue. It has 5160 mah battery but SOT is maximum 6 hours with 60 Hz screen and less battery use mode. Overnight the battery drop around 15%. Improvement in camera also required. Can any developer create a Custom OS for this? I have searched for its official firmware and found one link: https://drive.google.com/u/0/uc?id=1atxun-7h9ecxtczIcR_Gd28HYPLRVGsq&export=download
Please create a custom ROM for this device. This is going to be a hit.
The details of my device is as follows:
Hi guys, I just bought the xiaomi 12, I noticed that while playing it has a serious problem. As soon as it reaches 42° the power of the device drops. For example: in the game I get 60fps, when it gets to 42 degrees the fps drops to 40. This makes an apparently performing phone ****. it is easy to reach 42 degrees .. paradoxically in this way my old xiaomi mi 10 is better at play. Isn't there a solution?
