While the device is the cheapest offering from OnePlus, it's quite difficult to root it still..
* I somehow unlocked the bootloader after downloading dimensity drivers and using fastboot.
* The immediate next step was to extract boot.img from stock rom using payload dumper.. easy enough right? Apparently not!!.. There is no stock rom available on the OnePlus site for this device and it doesn't even support local upgrades..
There's no TWRP, Orangefox or any other recovery to install magisk as of yet.. I wonder what's wrong with the device and why one has to try so hard to root a simple phone..
If you're reading this and know a way to root, please help out..
Well it's a pretty new phone so that's why there's not much available for it yet. Have you tried googling oneplus ce 2 root. There's several guides but can't vouch for any of them.

I did Google for the rooting guides . But these are just generic with device name replaced by Nord ce2.. some sites don't even realise it's a dimensity processor and explain wrong procedures to unlock bootloader..
The one that concerned me was OnePlus official webpage showing model doesn't support local upgrades .. I couldn't find the security patch download I received a week ago too(in my phone's ota directory)
Could you provide the steps for root as well as the drivers and stock ROM?

You'll need to install mediatec dimensity drivers to enter fastboot and unlock bootloader/OEM..
From there on, you're pretty much on your own as OnePlus hasn't yet released any stock firmware yet and no custom recovery is supporting Nord ce 2

I rooted the Boot.img in the file attached earlier (after extracting OFP file)
Root was successful, but Wifi and Bluetooth does not work. Not sure if there are other issues.
My device has IV2201_11_A_11 version.
Is the new version available anywhere to root?

WARNING:
Please do every preparation that could fix your phone to original state before doing this trick.
DOING THIS MAY VOID YOUR WARRANTY, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
I managed to unpack the official firmware of Nokia 7 and 8, and patched their boot.img with SuperSU Systemless Root.
But I don't know if it works on them.
Patched boot.img can be downloaded at:
https://mega.nz/#F!igsBmarT!3rIjD4ZaZN8ueOTVmciGwg
Here's the method you need to do:
1. Install OST LA and patch it, and OPEN IT FROM INSTALLATION DIRECTORY DIRECTLY.
2. Flash required firmware before proceed. If you don't do that, you won't be able to access Wi-Fi after the boot.img flashed.
For Nokia 7, you need to use the firmware "C1N-0430-0-00CN-B05" which I haven't released to public for some reason.
For Nokia 8, you need to use the firmware "NB1-435J-0-00WW-B01" which released in this topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3678487
If you've already flashed required firmware before proceed, you can skip this part.

3. Use the Service Purposed Bootloader trick I've mentioned in the Nokia 6 Root Guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3702354
4. Type these commands:
Code:
fastboot-android flash boot_a E:\NB1-435J-Boot-Patched.img
fastboot-android flash boot_b E:\NB1-435J-Boot-Patched.img
fastboot-android reboot
For Nokia 7, use C1N-0430-Boot-Patched.img instead. I've attached the Firehose, rawprogram0 and patch0 for Nokia 7 in case you want to use EDL Mode on Nokia 7.
Click to collapse
5. If it's accepted by the system, the phone will reboot twice, and you'll see SuperSU appeared.
However, if "Verification Failed" appeared on your phone, then the trick failed. You have to flash original firmware to restore your phone to factory state.
If anyone know how to fix that in boot.img, that's a breakthrough of Nokia Android Devices.
You may want to use Flashfire to flash Xposed Framework or something else, but DO NOT RECEIVE ANY OTA UPDATES after your phone rooted.
I'm looking forward to a boot.img manual patcher on PC or Phone available, which could patch boot.img to achieve Systemless Root either SuperSU or Magisk and bypass Verification Boot.
This looks exciting. I have to look deeper into recovery options before I dare this kind of experiment...
Tried on a retail Nokia 8 TA-1052 running 00WW_4_35J_SP01
Boot passed but unfortunately no root
End up having to upgrade to 4390 using 4G
Update: Can't install 4390 even when I download the update multiple times. Flashed 435J using OST and tried flashing the kernel again but still no root.

Can you check if you can install SuperSU manually from Google Play?

Nope. SuperSU said "Root not available"
Many thanks for your efforts on this patch, I would love to be able to root my Nokia 8.
Having an unlocked bootloader I am not really worried about, but having root access is a big feature for me.
Any chance this patch will become available to firmware version 00WW_4_390 which is the current latest? (And what my phone is currently running)
Not sure if I can downgrade it to NB1-435J-0-00WW-B01 or not, but I can try that if it is not able to be patched to the latest firmware image.
Thnx hikari_calyx for your hard work!

And what we need to is a dev who build twrp for Nokia8. The recovery is inside the boot. IMG.
If you want build a one for the community. Thanks

I bought this phone in aliexpress and i'm pretty satisfied so far. Except by the fact that it's a totally obscure phone. You can't even find cases for it.
Anyway, the real problem is the lack of root methods. I tried all the root apks out there without success, and there is no known way to unlock the boot loader.
So, as a last effort, i'm trying to find someone that maybe managed to root this phone and could share the knowlege with us. Or at least find some other Gome U7 owners to share this frustation.
Thank you!

From the Aliexpress listing I found, this is MTK6757CD Android 7.1 Nougat. It shouldn't be so difficult to root.
Have you been able to backup / dump the firmware?
Yes, thats the model!.
About the backup, i don't tried it yet, but i supose i can via ADB comands.
The problem is that none of the root apks work, and i can't try to install a root script via the default recovery.
Holy fuc...king cow! I did it!
The dificulty of finding the files for this phone made this task much dificult than it shoul be, but anyway, for the possible people that come accros this thread, that's how i did it:
download the mtk drivers here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/jbxsq68g8dd4gk6/MTK_USB_All_v1.0.8.zip
download the stock rom here: https://cloud.mail.ru/public/8hMx/N7fqf8X62
Put the stock rom's boot.img on your phone;
Install the magisk apk, click install, and then use the patch boot.img function;
Select the boot.img from the stock rom;
After the patch, replace the patched version with the original version on the rom folder on your PC;
Use the SP flash tool to flash it.
And that's it!
I can't believe it took me four days to figure this out hahaha
Anyway, i hope it helps someone. Have a great day.
Edit: unfortunately the bootloader is still locked, so i can't flash magisk modules. Is there a way to use root privelege to unlock it?

I know it's a chinese phone but it originally had western stock ROM when arrived - As in playstore was available on it. Chinese version is very stubborn in trying to install western apps - Playstore for one does not open when you install via alt options.

I didn't really flash it, i just used the bootloader file on it for the root process. My device came with the stock android rom, with gapps pre-installed.
But as far as i know, you can have play store on any android. Just make sure you install google play services alongside.

I didn't try it because it seens fake to me. Also, the bootloader on this phone is locked, so fastboot comands didn't work when i tried. The only way i could flash anything was with SPtool.
But there's a group out there called twrp builder that compiles the twrp recovery to a lot of devices. I'm trying to put the gome u7 on their queue, but right now, they are busy with a lot of builds.

As you said the bootloader can not unlock why it need TWRP for?
The phone bootloader can lock and unlock as will.
Phone in fastboot mode: ADB command "fastboot oem unlock" then Push Vol+ on the phone to confirm unlock.
But I got the boot loop to TWRP every reboot after following steps to root the phone.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (twrp down load at https://unofficialtwrp.com/gome-u7-twrp-3-2-root/)
Boot to recovery ( this Twrp won't save the language which selected)
Format Data
Reboot to recovery again.
Install magisk
install No verity opt encrypt.zip.
wipe Caches/Davik...
reboot to system but it boot loop to recovery (twrp).
I have to reinstall original recovery.img and lock bootloader in order for my phone to boot normal again. After the phone boot up , install magisk.apk manager to get root.
Try to flash patched boot & twrp recovery image inside rar file with SP flash tool v5.1844.00.00 use their scatter file.
Wow, my device just could'nt comunicate with the adb via fastboot. I selcted the OEM unlock on the phone and inatalled the mtk drivers.
What i did wrong?
Also, you said that you had to install the stock recovery to the phone boot again, so you dont have twrp on the phone?

Hello and welcomeNOTICE:This thread will be modified when new files are available.
Manufacturer: Rea*me
Device: Realme C21Y
Chipset: UNISOC T610
DEVICE CODENAME: RMX3263,RMX3261,RMX3262
Currently available files:
pre-built kernel(zImage) boot.img
device-tree.dtb(device tree blob)
device-tree-source.dts(device tree source)
kernel-configuration file, sepolicy, prop.default
EDIT:finaaaaally Rea*me released the kernel source for this device, I think it is time for you to compile !
https://github.com/realme-kernel-opensource/realme_C21Y-AndroidR-kernel-source/
unfortunately as you see, there is no kernel source and also a way to unlock the bootloader, the files are somehow not very important but maybe in the future they will be.
actually, you can build any custom rom for this device using the prebuilt kernel(zImage), without kernel source by using TARGET_PREBUILT_KERNEL="Path to zImage" variable, if you understood that's good, if not just search for it, then when you got the zip file you can use sp research tool to flash the built from source rom with a locked bootloader, because it is the only way to flash this phone's files with locked bootloader, these are the instructions that you'll need to do(please note that this is a theory only, i didn't test it and i am not responsible for bricked devices, at your own risk !):
Get the phone's stock rom for example from this link: https://romprovider.com/realme-rmx3263-flash-file-firmware-free/
then install the sp research tool(you need to use this one specifically, the sp flah tool works just in the factory): https://androidmtk.com/download-spd-research-tool
Link: then using this link follow the steps until you replaced the stock system.img to the GSI's system.img one.
then just flash it using the tool and you will success to flash the GSI rom.
Next the file device-tree-sorce.dts is the device tree source file.
To get the boot.img, download the boot.zip below, extract it and you'll have it, if you want to modify boot.img download AIK tool: then run the shell script on the boot.imh file(you can do it only in Linux).
well we hope we will find a way to unlock the bootloader, because it's the key for doing everything.
Have you tried realme Deep test App to unlock the bootloader.

Greetings, the problem with the headphones is partly related to the vendor, which is natural for A11, but for A12 and A13 it is not yet available, or rather it needs to be updated for this, which is comparable to know very well Same Kotlin.

Have you tried the new method to install GSI on realme c21y mentioned on 4pda.to website..
They told to change the boot file...
But I am not sure...whether it is safe or not ...
I mean what if the file is compromised..

After successfully rooting my Nord 2T by backing up and then patching the stock boot.img I proceeded to patch the inactive slot within Magisk (it was unecessary of me..) and after rebooting entered a loop. Anyone know where I can get the factory ROM? I was on the May patch. Thanks in advance!
I am also looking for the factory OTA image.
How did you get the boot.img exactly?

Good ol SP Flash but I think the backed up images are corrupted hence the need of factory firmware to use it to restore my device.
Apologies I did not realise you still needed the firmware. I have mirrored it here if you still need it May Patch Full ROM

So extracting boot. img from your file won't be enough to do Root right?

You can't extract from the firmware. You must use spflash tool to pull the boot.img from the device (mediatek devices are a bit different to Snapdragon devices)
I'm going to do it today but I had to bring my daughter to the hospital after a fall she had which required stitches.
Once I have it extracted I might write a guide on how to do it with links to all firmware needed and have a thread where we will have both the stock and magisk patched boot.img's available.
Been like 6 weeks and no root on my device, this is the longest I have went without rooting in almost 7 years

Thanks. I rooted mine within a day but went too far with patching the inactive slot via Magisk and now phone is soft bricked. If you are still interested in extracting the boot image for patching then use this tool. I tried to use it to flash the payload.bin but phone still not booting. I even flashed all the extracted images manually in fastbootd. I guess the OTA file doesn't contain all the files needed to restore the device back to its factory state.
Anyone with the full firmware containing the SP Flash Scatter file please share it. You'll be saving everyone else. I bought my phone on a trip and there are no OnePlus repair centers over here so won't be using my phone until I can restore it myself

Hello
Can't you upload this zip file somewhere else?
Each time download is not finished.

Saw you were able to fully extract the payload.bin so could you mirror the files as well..
Issue is now resolved Thanks @Riski3Run and @garylawwd
Alternatively extracting and flashing the payload.bin ALSO works. No need to extract the images just use this beautiful tool

Hi Garylawwd, when I click on the link it displays an empty folder. Can you perhaps reupload the firmware? My device is bricked and I'm unable to find the stock rom and scatter file for CPH2399 :/

Yes I was on the June patch, but I completely messed up my Phone.. can't boot into recovery or fastboot, screen stays black.
When I plug in the phone my computer recognizes it as Mediatek usb port.
When I try to use mtk_gui it is able to connect but it freezes after DA extension and thus I'm unable to read or write anything from or to the device via mtk_gui.
I hope that I can flash the stock firmware via SP flash tool, otherwise I will probably need to send it to OP repairs centre.
But to flash via SP flash tool I do need the firmware + scatter file. ATM I'm unable to find them.
I am unable to create the scatter file via MTKDroid it says --- Unknown ROM structure, backup NOT possible!
I recently bought myself a new phone ( the same above and now I'm stuck trying to root it )
I've attached the details of my device in the image below
I successfully managed to unlock the bootloader yesterday and now I have no idea on where to find the stock rom.
Any help appreciated
Thanks

I have the exact same phone as you.
I used this post to root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rooting-oneplus-nord-2-ce-lite.4500297/
Didn't run into any problems
I have bricked this device (One Plus Nord CE 2 Lite) by flashing the unofficial twrp image for this device. Device bootloops in TWRP.
Previously, I had succesfully unlocked the bootloader and rooted this device by flashing the patched magisk boot.img by following the method mentioned in this post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rooting-oneplus-nord-2-ce-lite.4500297/)
How to restore the factory image and recover from this?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
....double post ...already answered
...bricking impossible

Sir, If you have patched magisk boot.img and blank vbmeta.img files on your pc used previously for rooting this device, this will save you your precious time.
Flash the files to their appropriate partitions, the device will overwrite the partitions and boot back with root access.
If you have updated the device after root and flashed magisk to inactive slot for saving root access after OTA the above method won't work.
Installed official version.
But i need twrp for this device.
Any one installed??
Sir, TWRP image available for this device is experimental, unstable and buggy.
There is a problem that occurs when you flash twrp if you are rooted.
After flashing the device bootloops into TWRP and won't boot into system OS even if it's forced to reboot.
Even without root if flashed, twrp cant flash or wipe any data.
On the screen the errors are shown in red.[failed to mount ' / ' ](Invalid Argument)
Let's wait until a stable image is available for this device in the near future.
Thank you .
I want pixel experience on nord ce 2 lte
If any one installed . Please guide me
...pixel experience doesn't work on Nord 2 CE devices ...none of the functions are compatible with this device ...I tried more than one configurations by myself ...the few things you can get working, like Contacts App or Messages App, you can manually download and install from APKmirror or other sources ...no need to "module" these little things
...I would like to change the boot animation, for example ...but to be honest, how often and how long do you see the boot up screen???
i again damaged the os.
This time every thing not working.
it boot loops to fastboot.
Any help ?? @DerDoktore
Is there any msmtool for nord ce 2 lte
...Bootloop to fastboot???? ...that is new to me ...I know the "system damaged" Screen and a traditional Bootloop ...does it "break" the loop at fastboot??? ...or do you see half a second the fastboot screen and restart and again???

Thanks bro, finally got my device back.
Installed Oxygen os 13 beta.
Could just follow the guide/s for the Nord N20 5G since it's basically the exact same device with a different touch panel...
