Hello, I am new to XDA but not new to rooting Xperia devices. However, I just purchased an Xperia 5 III and despite following the guide published here and following the Sony site with instructions I am getting the following error when I type the command: "fastboot oem unlock 0x<sony unlock code>"

I've use the same process on other Xperia devices without issues. Everything including the prerequisites (SDK, drivers, etc) are installed correctly in Windows 10 and "fastboot devices" recognizes my phone, I am using the IMEI for SIM 1 to get the code as instructed by Sony, I just can't figure it out.
Am I missing something? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Looks like the same error as in a previous thread. Try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/my-device-cant-be-unlocked.4351405/#post-85822247
Thanks, I tried all the options listed on the thread you provided but nothing works...
I also saw the original poster for that thread never responded if they were able to unlock the bootloader successful or not so I contacted them and will follow-up here if there is a solution.
In the meantime if there are other ideas or others that have a solution please provide it.
Thank you
I run Debian Linux as my primary OS and unlocked and rooted that way. For that step, I got the tools I needed via: sudo apt install adb fastboot

Hi,
Before posting I've researched entire world of android or at least I tried to, but couldn't find a tutorial on this.
HELP!!
I am not a developer, I just want to install a rom in my mtk6582 and I've tried many methods.
I used to flash roms and CWM with binary root and other tools but not now.
Problem: I'm unable to unlock my bootloader, commands like "fastboot unlock oem" just don't work. "fastboot devices" show my connected device though, as "mtk6582 123456789abcdef" in CLI.
I am not a developer and I don't need to know the functionality (Sorry, I'm not just that bright). I just need a method to unlock bootloader. Do I need some boot.img to flash first before I could unlock Bootloader. I'm completely clueless.
Please don't be rude for my ignorance, I'm just a very stupid girl.
My Device: Karbonn Titanium s20
My Computer: Ubuntu 14, Windows 7, Windows 10
So far I did: Changed USB Cables, Changed Computers, Changed Ports, Tried minified Adb & Fastboot.
PS. Running "Fastboot oem unlock" returns three dots in output, process is canceled with ctrl+c.

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist,
your device don't have a device forum here on XDA. You have to ask in our Android Question and Answers section. The experts there should be able to help you.

Hi all,
Scoured the forum for a while but, to be honest, I didn't even know how to search for my issue. Please feel free to redirect me to another thread.
Two problems.
1.
Tried to flash Cyanogen to my Xperia Z3. Unlocked bootloader and tried to do something [enter technical word, flash maybe] a root img file. This soft bricked my phone, took it to a shop, they said it's dead, bought another one. Is this salvageable? More details: Followed instructions here, got to "fastboot reboot", (flashed a cyanogen nightly) then phone only made it to the Sony screen on startup. Then followed these instructions to flash moonwalker but the result was a soft brick (try to turn it on, one lifeless vibration and nothing). Didn't root it beforehand (yep, idiot). I've heard you could flash an older ROM, but this leads me to the problem below.
2.
New phone. Looking to root it. Using flashtool and an ftf (D6603_23.0.A.2.93) downloaded here, but when selecting firmware, the file ftf appears to be empty. I imagine flashtool has undergone cosmetic surgery (update) as it appears to be different than other pictures, or perhaps I'm missing something glaringly obvious?
If anybody with a bit of free time has a moment to help me out, I'd be very grateful. Many thanks.

Not sure the image is working and not able to post external links. To explain it, the firmware appears (and is the correct model), but all other boxes (content, wipe etc.) are empty and the flash button is greyed out.
Hello everyone if i am breaking any rules or forgot about any rules please forgive me since its my first post here.
In the following image on left you can see CMD(in windows 10) and as you can see my device works flawlessly in adb. from adb i rebooted it into fastboot and tried fastboot devices command but it always shows up "??????" instead of some string of letters and numbers and as soon as i execute that command my device starts displaying "Press any key to shutdown" message. If i ignore this and start unlocking tool. as soon as i start unlocking tool even before logging in my device starts displaying same message. if by luck i get past this error and log into MIUI account my progress stops at 50% displaying either "Bootloader already Unlocked No need to try again" OR "Unable to verify device Error code (-1)". Of course my bootloader is locked.....
And on the right side of the image when i'm booted into Linux through VM. There i am using unofficial Unlocking tool and it always stops at "Obtaining Device info...."
Things i tried so far
USB debugging and OEM unlocking is on in phone, Different drivers,Tried using windows 7 through VM, i am using USB 2.0 not 3.0,Same account on device and on unlocker, Find my device is on and device is online,Sync is on. And of course i am trying all this after 3 days.
Help please i am missing on anything here?

Hi,Guys~
I can't get the bootloader unlock, Cause it keep saying like the picture shows.. Whatever fimware I use or official Unlock Device Tool(9.1.0.8-9.1.0.11) app. It can't be done. Including android P(16.1220.1909.194 &a lot of P version) to Q(17.1810.2005.153).
"An unkonw error occurs, which may be a network connection issue.please wait and try again later"
Actually network can surf totally no problem, but just can't unlock.I had try both of cyanogenmods unlock method can't work.

There is any way back to the older(older than 16.1220.1909.194) or the first fimware? I think maybe it's the fimware 16.1220.1909.194 newer than the unlock apps...I tried the ADB but cant wrrote the older fimware...
Sry for the image...looks like it can't show out by google cloud drive.
Plz help me guys.
Thx a lot.
same problem here. i tried the 1st firmware that came with it 2019 april .still same problem. this happened after i gave it service regarding a problem which is taking too much time to open gallery. they have reflashe the phone and gave to me with AndroidQ. i tried to unlock with the asus tool. it says network issue. then i downgraded to 16.1210.1904.75
and tried with no success. any help
Did you finally solved this problem?
I saw somewhere people saying to remove device pin before you try unlocking bootloader. I guess you can try that.
Anyone found a solution for the bootloader unlock?
I did literally everything according to instructions, still cant get past this "Unknown Error(-1)". This error happenes at 99% all the time
verification done, but unlock fails at 99.
old mi unlock tools not working also, shows same error.
Just this problem here, nothing else:

Help me experts, am i missing something ?
Sorry for mutliple editing, coz pic not appearing correctly, imma noob ;/
Noob question: For Bootloader to be unlocked through official mi unlock tool, do u need 2 different internet connection?
Because, i have only one sim and use it to get internet, and have laptop connected to it, so when i put my redmi Y2 to fastboot, theres no internet connection to laptop during unlocking process.
I took the sim out of my fastbooted y2, same unknown error(-1) occured at 99%,
Then i put that sim into my older phone (not y2), and had laptop connected to it, it stopped at 99% again, but showed different error "Your MI ID not associated with a phone number".
This is what it shows:
So both errors happening at 99%, badly need some guidance from those who have unlocked bootloaders for their S2 or Y2 models using official MI Unlock Tool. Thank you
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1C8l6b9qxO536IvSqK_uBa_tpH6GOMQoM/view?usp=drivesdk use this it will unlock on same day
U need internet connection the entire time of unlocking
