Same setup, same problem. Didn't noticed till now
Just I used to swype back above keyboard
I'm using Gboard and it does the same thing. I've never tried swiping over the keyboard until now. I don't think it's a bug. I think that's how is meant to be. Otherwise you might be closing your keyboard when your swiping a text message.
SwiftKey user w/o NovaLauncher l - no issues whatsoever
I ve got one plus 8 pro as my previous device amd there swipe back is working over the keyboard.
Closing keyboard each time i need to go back require one additional move, and swipe back above keyboard is not pretty good solution, since i cant do it by thumb, keeping device in one hand, keyboard is occuping almost half of the screen...
I do have the same problem. (using Nova with Gboard), whenever i swipe from right or left, it types a letter.. So i use keyboard hiding toggle in the Navigation bar area, when the keyboard is active.

I've googled it and got nothing.
Search this forum and not found it either
On Windows 8, if I scroll my mouse to the left/ left corner of the screen, I can see my current apps.
I can then close them.
With my keyboard connected I can do this on my surface using trackpad.
How do I do it without my keyboard connected?
I don't want to swipe them in, I want to see the icons of the apps I have running so I can close them.

you have to swipe in from the left a short distance. I don't own a windows touch device but did get a go on a display model, was kinda fiddly to get the distance just right, was probably about half the distance you need to swipe to switch apps. With some practise you should be able to nail it.

There's two behaviours for a short swipe in from the left. I believe the default one is to "swipe in" the last used app. Whereas what you want is to see a list of currently running apps (me too).
Go Settings>Change PC Settings and you're looking for a setting something like "App Switching">"When I swipe in from the left edge, switch between my recent apps instead of showing a list of them". In 8.1 that setting is under PC & devices, I can't recall if it's the same in 8.
The default way to do what you're asking is to swipe in from the left edge, then swipe back to the edge without releasing the swipe. It's a very quick and easy gesture easily made with the thumb; you don't have to swipe in more than maybe 1/4 of an inch (6mm) before swiping off the screen again to get he app switcher sidebar to appear.
To close the apps using touch only, you can do the following:
Drag the app from the sidebar off the bottom of the screen.
thanks, that's great.
Looking to see if there is any ability to get the right capacitive key to do anything other than switch/clear open apps? I sure do miss being able to hit the right key on my old phone and it would typically bring up menu options for whatever app you happened to be in and also a shortcut into your settings when on one of the home screens. What a PITA having to go up to the top right side of each app, hit the 3 little menu dots and change menu options that way.
Anybody figure any work-arounds or other 3rd party apps that can help out with this?
It would be nice if Alcatel would allow the right capacitive key to access the settings or menu of an app with a long hold of the button. Short hold of the button accesses the open apps. That would be intuitive. My old phone was the opposite, a short tap would open a backdoor to menu options and a long hold would open the active apps for dismissal or switch.
Very much an extra effort reaching up to the right when in Chrome to have to go to your bookmarks...that's just one example.
Any 3rd party launchers include something of this ability?
Also a PITA having to reach allllllll the way up to the top of the phone to pull down the notification panel. My old phone with KK 4.4.4 all you had to do was slide down anywhere on the home screen and the notification panel would come down. Vice versa, sliding up on a home screen would open the backdoor to your settings menu.
These are my two biggest *****es 24 hours into having this phone. Everything else I've tried so far seems pretty good.
I can propose solutions to two of your problems ..
(a) For bookmarks, could a bookmark widget help ? I believe Chrome has its own , but you could also use the stock widget and have it open any browser. Of course this only works in you are not already inside the browser. You can also try a browser with gestures. I think dolphin can do that.
(b) For the notification shade, you can use a launcher than offers a swipe down gesture. I use Apex which has gestures for free, and I have swipe down set for the notification shade.
Cool, thanks! Hopefully Alcatel is taking notes for future updates?
Did your phone have a custom room or Launcher? Those are not standard gestures for kit kat or stick Launcher.

Hi, right off the bat H950 5.11PR rooted.
So, my problem is the gesture used for hiding the keyboard (swipe from top to bottom on keyboard) isn't working, on any keyboard, be it LG, Google or SwiftKey. The gestures section is missing in the keyboard settings, though the gesture for shrinking the keyboard works if you enable the one handed mode. Swiping to type also works.
It isn't a big pain, since I can hide it with the back button, but it's puzzling to say the least, anyone had the same problem?
Other thing, LG apps are just missing, when you go into the update center, there's LG backup and RemoteCall, nothing else. Right after factory reset, they were there, though only accessible if sim card wasn't present. Any solutions?
I have Pixel 3a running Android 10.
I can create new home screen panel by moving application shortcuts to the right of rightmost existing panel. However, I can't move them to the left of the "main" panel (when I say "main" I mean the one to which you navigate by pressing "Home" button).
Is it possible to do in Android 10? The panel to the left of the main one used to have Google News, I turned it off but can't place anything else there.
I am coming from old phone running Android 4.2 and there it was possible. "Main" panel was in the middle and I could create new panels on either side.
yes. you just need to create 3 screens and have your main home screen be the middle screen. then from the middle screen you can move left or right. not sure if thats what you want though cause you are correct that they only get created to the right.

I don't think this is what I want because if I click "Home" button I am always brought to the leftmost panel. I updated my OP to be clearer on what I mean.
ok. but when i create the 3 screens and press home it navigates to the middle screen. so i do have a screen to the left and right of the home. thing is i'm using the nova launcher so that's probably it. i guess you're using pixel launcher? might want to search for pixel launcher apps that change the function.

Yes, I am using Pixel launcher.
Apparently the Dec Android update brings gestures to third party launchers which is been a missing element up until now. Once you take the update, you may want to try out Nova Launcher or another third party launcher to achieve what you are looking for. I know I had to stop using Nova on Android 10 because I wanted to use gesture navigation. Now that Google is allowing gesture navigation on third party launchers, I'm sure I'll go back to Nova. I really miss the app draw folders!
But you can definitely add as many screen as you want and even reset the "home" screen easily using Nova. So if you want one screen to the left, then home screen, then a screen to the right - that will be no problem using Nova. In fact you can turn on the infinite swipe feature where the home screens won't ever hit a hard "end" but keep flowing when swiped. So if you have three home screens and swipe right from the third screen you will flow from 3 -> 2 -> 1 ->3 ->2 ->1 etc etc etc. But anytime you press the home button, you can set it to be taken to the middle screen.
Hello everyone,
I am coming from the Oneplus T7 Pro to the Note now because the other device had an issue. But what I am trying to figure out is the swipe back and forth when on webpages and apps. On the OnePlus it worked great as an out of box option. I would just swipe and it worked. But this note 10 does not do this I have to use the buttons at the bottom. Is there anyway to make it work like the Oneplus or am I SOL.
I do use Nova for my UI since I cant stand Samsungs.
Thanks for any help guys.
Idk how gestures work on OnePlus, but I swipe from the right edge of the screen to the left to go back, swipe up from the bottom right edge of the screen to see recent apps, and swipe up from the middle or left edge of the screen to go home. I use Nova as well. The One Hand Operation+ app (in Samsung Galaxy store) enables swipe left to go back. You can customize swipes a variety of ways, including swipe right from the far left side of screen. But I am right handed, so that gesture is pretty useless for me.
Only works with OneUi

This might be the single greatest nav gestures solution ever, thanks for the info! I'm on Nova and have bottom nav gestures but now with Goodlock and One Hand Op app I have right side screen gestures as well. Best of both worlds!
