LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 12, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
This is an unofficial LineageOS 19 build for the global version of Xiaomi Mi 9 SE (grus).
Requirements
Required firmware version is MIUI V12.5.1.0.RFBMIXM.
Required TWRP is provided in this post (see below) that returns the correct 'ro.product.device'.
Formatting data (all user data is wiped, including internal storage) is a must if MIUI was previously installed.
Twrp can't decrypt data in android 12, so you need to install updates via adb sideload.
Known Issues
Please tell me
Instructions
Flash TWRP recovery via fastboot
Boot to TWRP recovery (Vol UP + Power)
Format Data (backup sdcard before format) if MIUI was previously installed
Flash ROM (lineage-*.zip) via adb sideload (Advanced -> ADB sideload)
Flash Gapps (MindTheGapps-12.1.0-arm64 is recommended) via adb sideload
Reboot
Enjoy!
NOTES
Safetynet can pass on this ROM (without magisk).
Regardless of the actual security update date, android security update is always displayed as 2021-04-01 for safetynet passing.
Recommended camera app is GCam Port: BSG 8.1 that can handle all of three lenses.

Hello, thanks for your work. What about contributing to an official LineageOS release?

Hello, thanks for your work. I find this rom pretty stable and usable; FOD is fast. With Magisk 24.1 + Safetynet fix the bank apps work, and even Google Pay.
Are you going to add f2fs support for data and cache partitions in a next build? Fingerprint sensor is always enabled, even with screen off. It will be possible to enable it only when screen is on?
Thank you

After 2 days, I can say: the ROM is very good, but there are some lags when you unlock the phone via fingerprint (an animation displayed on unlock slows down the entire phone) and when you use Telegram. I think there is a problem related to graphic driver

Hello, thank you for your feedback. For supporting FOD on AlwaysOnDisplay, fingerprint sensor is always enabled. See https://github.com/kyasu/android_device_xiaomi_grus/commit/2e8c936638cf0c5869e495b44dcea4d6125bef0f

It is so coooool! I am gonna give it a try. I was waiting for such support of Android 12, mb Android 12L soon ^^

Hello,
When stable version will be released?
Other question, if I install LOS 18 A11, will I have to clean flash when upgrading to LOS 19 A12?

Do not ask for ETA. LOS 19 itself is not official yet.
I think dirty flash is OK, but clean flash is recommended.

I uploaded the new build (lineage-19.0-20220312-UNOFFICIAL-grus.zip).

Thank you for this update. In order to use it after your first build, I must use adb sideload / wipe dalvik cache / reinstall gapps?
Because I have just installed it without wipe dalvik and witouht gapps, had a lineage start llo, reinstalled the lineage os + dalvik cache + gapps, it started but now google telephone, messages and play store bugs.
Sorry, it has been a long time since the last time I did something like this (samsung a3 2016)

Hi kyasu, I installed the ROM today and it runs really smoothly, thanks for the great work. My only issue is it doesn't seem to pass SafetyNet: it passes basic integrity but not CTS profile match. Google Pay doesn't work either. I followed your installation instructions exactly except I flashed the firmware (which the instructions didn't mention) right before wiping. I've tried installing Magisk and the SafetyNet Fix but they didn't change anything. I'd really appreciate any help on this.

The command returns [ro.boot.hwc]: [CN], and indeed the devices was bought in China. I thought firmware was the only difference between regions but look like this is not the case!

Thank you! The new build passes SafetyNet. G Pay adds cards fine too.

Hi! Thank you very much… it’s very nice ROM.
I’ve notice the status bar circle battery icons on the right aren’t the same as the clock on the left.
EDIT:
Noticed the same thing on GSI version… it’s for the privacy dot?

I have not tried for a long time any ROMs. Is widevine lost, by installing a different rom?
Will Netflix, Amazon, Disney work?
Thx

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.
Instructions
- You must be on OOS 10 Release (10.0.GM21AA) before flashing this ROM.
Note: if you fail to boot this, make sure you are on OOS 10 Release (10.0.GM21AA) on BOTH slots, or at least the other slot that you are flashing this ROM to. If you flashed OOS 10, then rebooted to flash this ROM, you will be on the original slot again, which was not on OOS 10.
- Download latest build here and anything else you need (you can use beta OpenGapps for Android 10 from here)
- Flash the latest build using latest TWRP by mauronofrio
- Reboot to recovery again
- Flash the other stuff like Magisk and OpenGapps
Known issues
- There *might* be some crashes here and there because it's in very early stage. Future updates can also break compatibility, so be aware before flashing any of these alpha ROMs.
- SELinux is still permissive Enforcing since 20191107
- MTP (USB storage mode) and USB tethering doesn't work. Something about USB is probably broken. fixed since 20191012
- If OpenGapps somehow crashes, that's not a bug of the ROM. I have already introduced dirty hack to make it somewhat work but it can still crash from time to time. (if Google's SetupWizard crashes on first boot and drops you back to boot logo, just wait until it gets into it again. Finish the setup without choosing anything fancy. You can alternatively choose to remove SetupWizard entirely from Recovery)
- Fingerprint sensor does not work in Always-on-Display mode. fixed since 20191012
- sensors might not work fixed since 20190925
- DRM (Digital Rights Management) is dead. No netflix for now. fixed since 20190925
- There might be other broken stuff but for me it seems that I have a mostly usable phone now.

Probably not, since it's temporarily using a pie vendor and blobs.
Nice done, thanks, I can't wait to try
Good god this alpha build is good. Total daily driver material. Very very slight bugs, but they're cosmetic. Congrats on the first 10 rom to boot properly with magisk!
I have issue with dpi it's keep changing to small and big number like from 304 to 620 alone , even when I set it to 411 after reboot it change
Can anybody share their way of booting this rom? I tried the method stated and can t get it to boot.
While using it, it shuts down and enters recovery. Is there something that I'm pressing or it just crashes?

Not sure... It worked for me and I didn't even have to format data, coming from Pixel Experience Pie. Maybe try flashing a pie rom first, booting it up, then flashing this.
Fairly stable rom so far. Had 1 force reboot right after setup but hasn't happened again. Magisk 19.4 working. Warp charge works despite not showing up on mine.

Legal questions about the state of this project:
rcstar6696, the original developer of this ROM have abandoned it for a while after the build 20200106 , and I (S-trace) built a new build of this ROM, and then I fixed an issue with WLAN Tethering offload on encrypted devices (rcstar6696 don't support the device encryption, but don't forbid the encryption completely), and then I got the invite from rcstar6696 to the xiaomi-sdm660 team to maintain the LineageOS for the clover (rcstar6696 supports several Xiaomi SDM660 devices, not only clover). Then I got the piracy attack from LR-user but rcstar6696 responded to this attack and confirmed me as the new LineageOS maintainer for clover because he simply not have the time to maintain 3 ROMs and transferred this project to me.
I'm too don't have much time to develop the LineageOS for clover, so I just merge the cr-8.0 branch to lineage-17.1 branch and build the ROM, install it to my clover tablet (LTE-4GB-8" model) and quickly test it, and (if no problems were detected) upload it and post it here and release the ROM as an OTA update. So, please also thank rcstar6696 for this ROM, because I don't develop it very much but just maintain it using rcstar6696 original development for cr-8.0 ROM.
Changes (full changelog):
May Security Patch

Reporting Bugs
DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

It looks really good.
I installed it dirty over LineageOS 16 on my MiPad 4 Plus LTE.
No FCs, youtube working, sound working, wlan and lte working.
Animations were a bit laggy in playstore when i started updating apps.
Now installing magisk - not booting yet.
Is there an option for rounded corners? Can't find it anywhere...

Reflashed it clean: everything important works but i can't use riru_edxposed. It stays at the MI-Bootlogo for so long, i didn't want to wait anymore.
Is this fully stable?
great work!
Hello,
the rom works perfectly and pretty stable so far.
Thanks for your time and work!
I just can't get Google Photos to sync, but I assume it's a gapps issue. Everything else is running fine.
Would you mind adding ethernet usb drivers to the kernel?
The device recognises the USB-to-ethernet adapter and shows a dummy0 interface instead of eth0 when running ifconfig.
There was ethernet support on the February Lineageos 16 build found on 4pda.
I'd be really happy to have that feature, but I'm already thankful for being able to run Android 10.
Hello!
Is it an official build?
Finally thanks @rcstar6696 will flash asap
EDIT: Had initially shutdown after Mi logo. Not sure if that was becuase I flashed Magisk 19.3 or because I didn't flashed disable_dm-verity_forceencrypt_10.20.2019
anyway, after flashing magisk v20.0 and disable_dm-verity_forceencrypt_10.20.2019 now it's all good

Things that i found working are:-
1.Volte(Tested on !dea and Jio) and native Video-Over-LTE(JIO Only) is working perfectly.
2. FM Radio works perfectly.
3.Flashed with Gapps PICO 10.0 works perfectly, but initially tried flashing with NANO 10.0 and resulted in a bug while setting up the google account(first boot), the "set fingerprint+pin" and "Google assistance" Loop.
4. IR blaster works perfectly.
I have found out some bugs,
1. There is problem in sending SMS (not recieving).
2. Netflix does not work.
3. Cannot send SMS due to which banking apps or UPI apps such as Google Pay(TEZ) cannot be setup.

If you can't download Netflix from playstore.
Flash magisk and enable magisk hide in magisk manager app. After that clear data of playstore app. This will fix device is not certified and we can download netflix from playstore.
The in-call-recorder not working, shows failed to start call recording.
same, call recording is not working
One question. Is TWRP working with our device now? I heard that there was a problem with TWRP on Pie MIUI.
EDIT: I see, that it should work with Pie. Okey, i flashed it to flash LOS. But I have problem with replacing TWRP by MIUI recovery. After flashing, I rebooted phone by fastboot reboot and immediately pressed power button + volume up to enter TWRP. And it booted just fine but there is info about encryption and password. Rebooted the phone again, and unfortunately TWRP got replaced by stock recovery itself.
What I did wrong? What should I do to make it work properly without asking me for password to decrypt (is this normal behavior?) and how to block MIUI for replacing TWRP?
Please give me some hints. I want to flash Lineage OS asap.
Thanks in advance.

Just a question: now that 18.1 is out, will there be any more builds for 17.1 (e.g. security patches)? I'm asking because I'm going to wait some time before doing the move to 18.1.
Hi,
Very Thank you for your work
With the 17.1, I initially used Magisk 20.4. It was OK.
With the 18.1, I'm trying to install Magisk 23.0, but for now it's KO with me (I'm android newbie ):
- Magisk-23.0.zip install with TWRP: OK
- Magisk-23.0.apk install: OK
- but Magisk app tell me that Magisk is not installed
- I try to patch boot img..., same
Some tips for Magisk and z3c / android 11?
Best regards

You don't need to wipe anything. However it won't harm and you won't loose anything of you wipe cache and system before upgrading.
Thank you for your awesome work!
I made a clean install (been using unofficial 18.1 build previously) with Nano GAPPS pack and everything works perfect for now. I even tested Google Pay and purchase was successful! I wasn't expecting that!
I have tried upgrading from 17.1 without wiping data without success. Loading reached the wallpaper, then boot animation started again

Everything is looking good except I can't unlock the screen for some reason. I use my old pattern but instead of unlocking it throws me right back to the unlock screen again. Any ideas?

In this case you should wipe data. There might be issues if you have used a pattern. I have tested an upgrade from 17.1 to 18.1 without a pattern/pin set.
The reason for this is that support for the legacy credential hash support was deprecated and we had to remove the legacy hardware keystore.
If you want to keep your data, you could try to remove the pattern on 17.1 and do the upgrade, but i can't guarantee that it will work.
Sorry for the misleading comment in the OP.

Thanks for the clarification. All good now.
Just wanted to give my thanks for supporting this phone. Although I have moved to the XZ2c. the Z3c still acts as my backup.
thanks again!
Thanks again NeoArian for supporting the Z3 Compact!
I've installed LineageOS 18.1 and everything is fine except...
a kernel wakelock: sensor_SMD 2000000000
Because of that, deep sleep isn't what it should be.
It seems that the Z3 Compact isn't the only phone with that problem: msm8937-common: Disable the Significant Motion Detector
CPU-Z doesn't show any data for the Significant Motion Detector so it seems like a no brainer to disable it at least for now:
I've changed my build.prop
Code:
ro.qti.sensors.smd=true
to
Code:
ro.qti.sensors.smd=false
-> problem solved.
By the way, I checked an old build.prop from LineageOS 17.1 and it used to be disabled, which explains why this problem is linked to 18.1.
Is there a reason why GPS doesn't work for any App / Tracker while Screen is turned off?

Same here.
You can either try the integrated Seedvault backup (enable the backup apps option) or use the Migrate (requires root) or OAndBackupX (not tried) app.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 13, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
This is an unofficial LineageOS 20 build for the global version of Xiaomi Mi 9 SE (grus).
Twrp can't decrypt data in android 13, so you need to install updates via adb sideload.
Known Issues
Please tell me
Instructions
Flash TWRP recovery via fastboot
Boot to TWRP recovery (Vol UP + Power)
Format Data (backup sdcard before format) if MIUI was previously installed
Flash ROM (lineage-*.zip) via adb sideload (Advanced -> ADB sideload)
Flash Gapps (MindTheGapps-13.0.0-arm64 is recommended) via adb sideload
Reboot
Enjoy!
NOTES
Safetynet can pass on this ROM (without magisk).
Regardless of the actual security update date, android security update is always displayed as 2021-04-01 for safetynet passing.
Recommended camera app is GCam Port: BSG 8.1 that can handle all of three lenses.

Thank you so much Kyasu for your hard work!
I think I will wait a few weeks before flashing the new a13 build, just to see if it's stable enough to "daily drive" it.
Clean flash recommended?

Dirty flash over lineageos 19.1 is OK. I think this build is stable enough.
Signature Spoofing?
Build working very smooth without major issues.
Only thing i noticed, android auto not working anymore with my skoda. But this could also be caused by android auto..

Nope, I didnt.
Thank U! And I found a BUG:
I had change the option of 'Display cutout' in developer options, switch to another and switch back to default, repeated several times. Then I can see sawtooth in top round corner, nnusual color pixels can also be seen on the lock screen's top round concer. I try all what can I do to fix it: system option, AOSP mods, some magisk module... All of them are failed.
After wipe data in TWRP and reset all OS, it come back normal.
I found the real reason: turn off dark mode, then top corners of lock screen will show some color pixels.
