Not sure if this should be in the Nexus forums per say; but, I'm working ON a Nexus so I guess it does, lol.
I edited the stock clock apk to make themes for it. They all work flashing them through clockwork. However, I wanted to make it as an app for non rooted phones to use. I could take a free clock from the market and theme it; but, I'd much rather use the stock apk.
I edited the name in the manifest; which, stopped the system from seeing it being installed already. However, when it tried to install it still ended up failing.
How would I go about changing whatever I need in the apk to in turn, almost, turn it into a different app. As far as the system thinks anyways.
Thanks
Hi. I would like to explain what i want to achieve and maybe some of you guys can help me out.
I am on stock Nougat with my S7. I've tried lineage and some other roms but I am not very satisfied.
I woulld like to stay on stock, but get the closest to stock as possible.
I would like to: Install Pixel Launcher and Assistant (i heard that might come soon anyway). I want to disable HW buttons and add on screen nav bar (i think maybe xposed can do that). I would like to flash google apps, like phone, messaging, etc.
Is this possible? I saw I can root my nougat s7 just not sure if what i want is achievable. Thanks!
Dan
The closest I've gotten without rooting or changing the kernel was doing the following:
- Buy and install Nova Launcher and find a backup on the web that will restore it to look like the Pixel.
- Install Pixel Icon Pack-Nougat Free UI
- Go to the theme store and install Pixelize or Material Design.
- Buy Package Disabler Pro from policedeveloper to disable Samsung apps (no root required)
That's the closest to stock I got.
Why not use the Google Now Launcher? Swap Samsung's stock apps for Google's and add in the pill widget etc if required too. Should be able to get close fairly easily.

That would only be a temporary solution given Google will remove it soon from the store.
Hello, I'm new to this site. I need help with substratum because it has recently become impossible to remove the overlays and when I try to do so they freeze and reboot the phone.
I am worried that this is due to having applied multiple swift dark and black themes and applying them without unaplying the other, confusing the list of what's themed and what's not. If tbats not how it works then I don't understand what could be causing this severe problem.
It is also important to mention that if I do not try to uninstall the overlays one by one, and I just use the phone as I normally would, nothing is effected performance size. I simply wish to uninstall substratum and everything to do with it on my device.
I am running it on a galaxy note 8.
If a factory reset would completley erase the problem I am willing to do that, but wanted to confirm with someone who knows what they are talking about first..
Thanks for any replies.
It seems that I can only theme system apps. WhatsApp, Google home, Google translate... Etc. stay as they are even though the theme is installed and active.
10.5.7.IN21BA
Magisk 20.4
No major issues with Swift Installer, here. But thing is, a certain app can't be themed until an update provides a proper overlay for it.
I'd stay away from substratum, however. One wrong move, such as an incompatible overlay, could be problematic. I've found that out the hard way.

Even when they're updated, user apps don't change for me. System apps like Google Chrome change theme just fine but user apps like Google translate don't.
Hey all,
Background: I used to do a lot of messing with my older android phones, flashing custom recoveries, custom roms, nightly builds, etc. but it has been YEARS since I messed around.
I want to try and get back into it a bit, specifically I want to get my S22 Ultra to "look" like a Pixel 7 OS. I know I used to be able to find roms like that for future versions of android or other phones, etc. back in the day but i'm not really seeing much of that type of development now.
So my question is: what is the BEST way to make my phone feel like a Pixel? Is it to use Magisk to edit features, etc.? Are there any sorts of...presets or anything in Magisk? I've never used it. Also, on the TWRP website, they don't have recoveries for the S22u, are there any manually compiled ones?
Sorry, it has been a LONG while since I did anything like this, you can direct me to other threads if things are answered, I would appreciate it!
Thanks!

Hi! thanks for the reply! no, not quite just the icons and such, more like. the settings menu, the pulldown bar, the power options, like everything to be like the phone IS a Pixel
Why would you want to take a $1200+ top of the line smartphone and make it imitate a mediocre Google product? You could have saved a lot of money and time and just bought a Pixel 7!

the pixel 7 pro wasn't out when i got my s22u and just for the sake of trying it tbh, i like the Pixel OS
So you need to find a compatible launcher that imitates the AOSP environment. Good luck.
Lawnchair Launcher imitates the Pixel Launcher with a lot more options...
Been using it for yeeaarrssss (Since I had launch day Pixel)

i'm using lawnchair currently but it's not the full experience. it's still Samsung OS. i'm trying to replace the whoooole experience, but thank you!
#hex theme, lawnchair, kwgt widgets, icon packs and Google apps will be the closest you will get for now.

So i bought it for $1.99 and installed it, and when i launch it, it says there's a licensing error and to reinstall. i reinstall, same thing. is it because i'm on the OneUI 5 beta?

I have to say when I installed beta 1 I had this same problem. For whatever reason it started working again the next update.

Hi hex installer works fine on oneUI 5.1
And using
Hex installer (play store)
Nova launcher (play store)
Good lock (galaxy store)
Pixelful icon pack (play store)
But you will need root or use ADB via pc/laptop
If this is the look you are after

Just a friendly note/warning. If those are your actual IMEIs in your screenshots ypu may want to delete or edit that screen shot. Usually not a good idea to share your IMEI publicly.
