Question Display timeout not following setting? - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

For some reason my Watch 4 is timing out at around 4-5 seconds. I've tried the setting at both 15 and 30. The display brightness sometimes is turning itself down as well (related?). Charge is at 80+% I've tried cycling the power.
Any ideas.
Unrelated, any tips how to search just a single forum here?

Answered. When the display wakes to a gesture it timeouts in 5 seconds. When wakes due to touch or bezel it waits the set amount.

Temporarily disable Backlight time-out (Backlight Keep Alive)

I use the interenet quite a lot on my Wizard. Problem is sometimes there is quite a lot to read on the screen and it takes a lot more than 30 seconds to 1 min to read it all. Since I have my Screen Backlight set to turn off after 30 seconds of inactivity, its quite annoying to keep pressing some button just to make sure the light doesn't go off when I'm reading.
I don't want to set the Backlight timeout to anything more than 30 seconds because it would use up way too much battery during the rest of the day.
I was wondering if there is any program or a simple command that can be assigned to a button so I can temporarily disable the timeout for the duration that I'm using the internet.
It would be so much more easier than going into the backlight settings everytime and change the timeout.

[Q] Backlight Management App

Hello all,
First of all, apologies if this is in the wrong forum.
I have an HTC EVO 4G on Sprint. I am looking for an app that will manage the backlight in a way more like Windows Mobile's own built-in management. Here's what I am looking for more specifically. When charging or plugged in, the backlight should be full brightness and the screen should never dim or turn off. When on battery, the backlight could be set to dim after xx minutes, or not dim. The device should then shut the screen off after xx minutes.
With Android's built-in settings, all I can come up with is the setting for the screen to never sleep when charging, which is oddly placed under Applications -> Development. The screen timeout setting applies to both battery and charging statuses.
Why? When the phone is plugged in, I like to be able to quickly glance at it for time or notifications. I don't like having to hit the power button to check these. When on battery, the phone is usually in my pocket so taking it out and pressing the power button are almost one motion. It saves battery as well.
Also, in the car, I always have the phone charging. I've noticed that some GPS and other programs will keep the backlight on, but others will not. I've seen some applications just allow the backlight to dim, so I have to keep touching the display to wake it up.
Does such an application exist? If not, doesn't anyone else want to see such an application made?
This is one of the little things that I miss about Windows Mobile 6.5.

Screen brightness problem!?

Hi guys,
So I set my display timeout to 30 seconds. After 20 seconds the screen dims to an insanely low brightness, like 10%. Then in another 10 seconds it locks (which it is supposed to) Is there a way to make the screen not dim and just immediately lock after 30 seconds? Another thing is after the screen locks after thirty seconds, if I wake the device within 5 seconds I don't have to re-enter my password, despite the fact that I set my phone to lock immediately when it falls asleep.

Screen timeout issue

If I use wrist gestures to turn the screen on, it only stays on for about 6 seconds. It will only stay on for the selected duration if I interact with the watch or turn the watch on by pressing the back button. Is this by design? I've already reset the watch multiple times.
This can be adjusted in settings. Display screen timeout.
Whatever settings I use, if the screen is turned on by gesture and not interacted with, it only stays on for about 6 seconds. Watch only obeys the setting if I touch the screen after it turns on or I hit the back button.
Can anyone confirm if this is normal behavior?

Yep, is normal. If you raise your wrist to see the time, there is no reason to keep the screen alive for 15 or 30 seconds.
if you turn the bezel one click left and one click right it will remain on for the 15 seconds, 30 seconds, minute or what you have it set to, in failing that there is a widget you can download called flaunt and it gives you the option to have the watch face on for up to 30 mins
I know this is probably way too late but my Gear S3 Classic has the same issue. no matter what time frame you choose for the timeout it only goes for 7 seconds. I've reset to factory twice. i've used factory watchfaces and 3rd party watchfaces but same issue. i'm not sure that the replies above know what they are saying since there are 4 screen timeout settings (15 secs, 30, 1 min & 5 min). If these are options then why don't they work?

The timing for the "wake up" gesture is at a fixed duration of 6 seconds - just long enough for you to see the time. It is independent of the standard display timeout settings for 15 / 30 / 60 seconds.
This is normal behaviour. There is no way to change the timeout for the "wake up" gesture.
It does what's supposed to do...

Hi,
Yes, the watch will only start timing down (or stay lit) the pre-defined number of seconds if you either: rotate the bezel right/left or
left/right on one click as someone already explained, or you either press the top OR lower buttons once. With no 'mechanical' intervention, the default 6-7 seconds ON will prevail. If you think about it, it's a smart design. Turning your wrist get time to see the watch screen; any other actions will leave it on for your desired limit.
Best.
I agree in part. You don't really want the watch to stay on for the timeout period when woken by gesture. However, it should be possible to set a duration for the watch to stay on for a different period on gesture wake up. Perhaps 1 to 10 seconds?
My watch only stays in for 4 seconds, way too short!

Turn off wakeup gesture in settings. U'll have to wake it up using the buttons tho. Fine for me. Doesn't work half of the time anyway.

Screen timeout issue

I have set the screen timeout to 2 minutes and the display is turning of in 30 seconds no matter which time i select. Is this a known bug? It's actually only 15 seconds before the screen shuts off. I just picked the phone up today, I'm going to exchange it
