Question Raw for front camera - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Hello,
Is it possible to take Raw picture files with the front camera ? Even with Expert Cam ?
Thanks

It's possible with GCam. However, only the Snapdragon version this time. With the S21U, the Exynos had front RAW support but not Snapdragon. This time it's reversed. Snapdragon has front RAW and Exynos doesn't.

Hmm Thanks for the answer, but why ? so weird. So there's still no API implementation for the front camera, SMH.

From what I can tell playing with my S22U, raw is only captured under the "Pro" mode or with the new "Expert Raw" camera app. That said, you can seem to switch to selfie aka front camera in either of those modes.

Google Camera Port 48MP?

I have been using this Google Camera Port: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79723402&postcount=1954
It does say it supports the full 48MP (- Add ultra-resolution compatibility ( 48Mpx )) but I cant seem to get it set above 12MP. Any advice?
Sorry for the bump (is this even a bump??) but here's the answer, I believe: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/themes/google-camera-op7-pro-t3944422
WHY THE FRONT CAMERA IS 4MP AND BACK CAMERA 12MP ?
Selfie camera uses pixel binning, same as for the main sensor. Since camera2api implementation only delivers a 4MP raw stream (16MP/4 = 4MP because of pixel binning)
GCam can only work with what raw stream the API delivers.
Same goes for back cam.

The answer that OP provides is pretty half-assed. The selfie camera doesn't use pixel binning by default at all, nor does camera2api make it suddenly 4mp. Also, all the Aux cams are subject to the same pixel binning from the gcam app, reducing their quality by a lot. The "Real" answer seems to be that gcam (only OP CAMERA CAN) simply cannot, at the moment, use the full 48mp resolution, and with some probably faulty coding, applies the pixel binning to all other cameras.

Main camera captures only at 12 mpx? - yes, gcam is capable of 48 mpx but libs need to be modified. Arnova is working on that. (He hasn't stated if this is impossible or not just yet, he is working on the proyect). Those 12 mpx will be the 48 mpx quad bayered photo. The purpose of this mod will be a full 48 mpx HDR gcam photo working. Fingers crossed.

Open Camera now allows P20 PRO to record video using all lenses

Hi all, you might know this already but I just found out and it seems like absolutely great news for this phone. The latest Open Camera update allows you to record video using every camera on the phone. Even the monochrome one works. No need to have perfect lighting conditions in order for the camera to switch between main and telephoto. You now have a dedicated camera button which lets you select what lens to use. Did you get the chance to try it out? I didn't have any issues yet.
Link please
Here it is:

Is the recording quality improved?
I'm not sure. You do have to option to record with maximum 80Mbps but I I find it hard to tell if that is any different from the 30Mbps standard rate. Video looks crisp and clear, colors are very good, especially if you lock the white balance.
Quality seems not as good.. Also can not use Camera API 2, for high res to get extra control in manual mode.
I'm not sure why you can't use camera2 api. For me it works and I can select iso and exposure during filming. I have a CLT L29.

whats your max resolution for recording video using Camera2 API?
For the 40mp lens and the telephoto lens, I have 3840x2160. The monochrome camera however has a resolution of 3264x1840 for video.
Sorry for necropost, but anyone tried open camera for B&W photos? Does it allow exposure bracketing? Raw or at least png for file saving? I would like to try p20 pro just for that monochrome lens...
You can save RAW with the B&W camera but for some reason the pictures appear purple.

Stock ZTE camera app on Lineage?

Is the stock (Android 9) ZTE camera app able to be exported and used on a third party ROM (Lineage) ? I've tried multiple third party camera apps and it appears the main rear camera hardware is being reported as only being 12MP.
That's really confusing because the rear camera array is advertised as being a 48MP for standard & wide angle shots, a 8MP for "telephoto" shots (but who seriously 3x optical zoom is telephoto?) , and 20MP for ultrawide shots.
Are they pulling a Bait-n-Switch by software interperlating the main camera up to 48MP?
I'm guessing there are closed source libraries / drivers which allow the OEM camera app to access all of the various cameras? Maybe someone from the Axon 7 group may know?
Has someone already attempted to do this? Does anyone want to take a crack at this before I spend two or seven weeks attempting to do so?
That's 4to1 Pixelbinning. Don't worry about that. 12 MP delivers better results than 48 MP!

Are GCAM RAW DNG files 27mp from the main cam, or are they 108mp?

I would assume the sensor takes binned photos by default, but can someone confirm with a GCAM to take some raw dng photos?
Even better.. if anyone has DNGs from GCAM for download that would be great.
thanks!

The output of the main cam is 27mp. 108mp raw stream doesn't work currently, though that might change in the future.
I'll take a random shot and post the dng in a reply.

4k/60 front cam for LineageOS

Has anyone found a camera app that supports 4k/60 on the front cam?
All the GCams (I think) only support 4k/60 for the rear camera.
Can't use the stock camera app because I'm in Lineage!! (Or can I?)
Please comment if you know any or want this also.
Edit: Installing the "Asus Camera addon" on the first post of this thread (via recovery mode adb) has 4k/60 while the camera is flipped. See posts below this one for a bit more info. It's the native camera app for this phone so slow-mo, manual control over the flip, panorama etc. are all there. Note that pictures don't get saved using this camera (while on LOS 17.1, obviously) but that doesn't matter cause there's a million custom camera apps that will do that fine, even the one built into LOS...
with the Zenfone6, isn't it the same camera that flips? (back <--> front)
so, in theory, if it's 4K for the back,
then it should still be 4K for the front, because it's the same camera

It is yes. The back cam is also the front cam. All the GCams I've tried though don't see it that way and don't have 4k/60 enabled on the front cam. Let me know if you find one.
