Question How to prevent GW4 from disabling an app? - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Hi!
I had an issue with gpay on my watch and seems that after I rested it and change the region I was able to properly add card to my gpay app and even use it at the store - the issue is that the app is getting disabled all the time, after it's not connected to the phone or if I enable GPS on my watch it seems to cause the app disappears.. my question is - is there a way to prevent the galaxy watch 4 from disabling this app all the time? maybe somehow through ADB or something? would appreciate any help!

A possible fix would be to install Gpay under an alias like if it has a different package name then I think it won't be disabled. But I doubt that will work for payments though.

[Q] Using watch with SmartLock

I have a Note 4 with Smart Lock. I wanted to set it up so that my watch can keep my phone from locking. I added the device to SmartLock successfully. Even if my watch is sitting right next to the phone, it is not unlocking it. I use a PIN. Is there anything else that I need to do, or is this just not going to work.
Thanks
I was looking for an answer to that too. I tried and it did not work at all.
I use tasker for lots of things, but I could never get it working with this. I have a task set up to unlock the phone if the bluetooth is connected to the Gear S2. Even when my connection is just fine, tasker doesn't see the connection and never unlocks the phone.
I use Gear s2 from Tmobile with my Note 4 with no problems. When locked I use patern not pin if that makes any difference. Running lollipop 5.1.1 , no root, latest gear manager from play store.
It is added to my trusted devices
This might be a misunderstanding on my part about how this is supposed to work. I have a PIN set up, and when I have my watch connected, it doesn't require the PIN. It just puts up the screen that I have to swipe. I expected that it wouldn't put up the swipe screen at all. I don't want it to, but can't find a way around it. I tried setting up tasker to disable the lock, but it didn't work. Apparently tasker doesn't know when the watch is connected. It does work for my bt headset.
I don't think it can be done. It looks like smart lock removes requirement for any kind password but doesn't remove screen lock altogether.

If you have one of those flip cases, it does unlock automatically. Other than that, I don't know a way around it.

Same issue here. Guessing a 2 part app (specific to s2 and android) might be able to solve the problem. The s2 app would communicate with the android app (not sure if background communication is possible for s2 apps though). Upon a cut in connection, the android app would trigger the lockscreen.
Thoughts?

I've never understood the need for that. When I don't have security on my phone, I have always just shut it off. An extra swipe accomplishes nothing.
Before the gear, I was using tasker to unlock my phone when connected to my wifi and when my bluetooth headset was on. I'd carry it with me, turned on, and my phone would not lock at all. It was flawless. Never saw the lock screen and never had to enter my PIN.
I might just go back to that, as the extra screen is really annoying and serves no purpose. I just have to remember to always have my BT headset turned on and on me. I always have my watch, but always seem to forget the headset.
I wish I knew why tasker doesn't recognize the the connection to the watch. My settings clearly show that the phone is connected to the watch, so it should recognize the connection, but doesn't. I don't know how much support tasker is getting any longer. I saw something about the developer having to take a break because of medical issues. There are now many other automation apps out there. Maybe I'll give some of them a try and see if one of them will accomplish what I am able to accomplish with tasker and my wifi/bluetooth headset.
When I add the watch to SmartLock, I get the following message:
Smart Lock can't detect the security features of this device. To help protect your phone, Gear S2 (393A) will only be able to keep your phone unlocked once it's already unlocked by you. Your Gear S2 (393A) can keep your phone unlocked when it's nearby, even if someone else is holding it.
Not sure what that means or what it does to the unlocking feature.
I don't know much about tasker but one time I played with tasker plugin called trigger. Maybe that can be help for you. It is possible that tasker looking for certain Bluetooth profiles being active and since gear s2 has no speaker there is not headset or headphone profile. On my gear s2 3g Bluetooth shows call audio profile.

Automatic Hotspot

Has anyone been able to get any program to automatically enable hotspot (for example, when bluetooth connects turn on hotspot)? I used to use Tasker on my Note 7 (without root and with Secure Settings), but now Tasker fails to enable hotspot on my S8+
Every program I've tried in the Play Store fails to enable hotspot...it is like Samsung has done something that to keep programs such as Tasker and Automate from working...
It fails because the US branded versions of the phone changed the normal way to enable the hotspot function in order to perform additional entitlement checks with some US carriers before enabling the hotspot. This is why Tasker and other programs fail.
On the unlocked, unbranded version of the S8+ (which doesn't run the carrier software and doesn't run those checks), it works fine.
The same goes to the pixel, only there it depends on the SIM you insert into the phone. If you insert a VZW or ATT SIM, the Tasker process will fail. If you use a T-Mobile SIM in the pixel, it will work because T-Mobile doesn't run those entitlement checks.
When I used an international SIM in the Pixel, it also worked.
I hope this helps.
This is the error I get with tasker, is this what you see?
Ugh...I figured it was something to do with that. That's like knowing cancer is the cause of that pain in your gut...good to know what it is, still sux.
I have been able to get Tasker and AutoInput to activate the hotspot fairly reliably when I connect to bluetooth. It actually works very well, even with the screen off. Guess it'll do.
Care to explain what you are doing there? Is autoinput disabling mobile data, enabling hotspot then re-enabling mobile data?
Auto Enable Hotspot with Tasker on S-8
I got the automatic hotspot worked out using Tasker and AutoInput. I tried several ways that were hit or miss. I finally figured it out and can now activate my Hotspot reliably when my phone connects to bluetooth.
If anyone is interested, here is the export. You will need AutoInput from the Play store, and Tasker. Root is not necessary. It is probably a pretty clumsy way of doing it, but it works.
Simply copy the Hotspot Enable XML file to your Tasker Configs folder. Then Tasker>>3-dot menu>>Data>>Restore>>browse to file
Thanks I'll try this. I always used tasker before but obviously w/o Autoinput.
Dave
No dice for me. Aside from autoinput and tasker did you have to install anything else? I did enable the autoinput accessibility service. I've included screenshots of what I get when I try to run the task and also when I click on any one line of the task. When I click to install what it says to it says it is just takes me to auto input in playstore which is already installed. Is there somewhere else I need to enable this auto input plugin?
It also seems I had to install secure settings which I did to no avail.
Thanks much
Dave

Sorry Dave, I haven't been back on.
It looks like you need to install "Secure Settings" from the play store. It is an add-on to Tasker. It should work after that.
So yes, you need Tasker, Secure Settings, and AutoInput. You could honestly probably do without the first command in Tasker (the one that needs Secure Settings...it only turns the screen on).
I tried again removing that first line and every single action if I click on it I get the error in the picture below. I try to manually run it in tasker it just sits at the first task. How did you create this exactly?
Btw, if I click to install it just brings me to autoinput I the play store which says it's installed.
Any help pinetreehater?
Well i ended up having my phone die and got a new one from samsung. Same issue I had w/ the other one. There has to be some other step involved that I'm missing here.
Any luck yet?
Sort of working
I downloaded and paid for AutoInput. The script is mostly working. But it stops at the Hotspot setting screen and never seems to turn it on.
Any ideas?
Apologies for necroposting, but I thought this might help future people. The only issue I can think is that you need to make sure you've activated Autoinput's trial period OR purchased the full version, do that and the supplied script works perfectly.
so I'm using the s9, figured the process would be close enough. first Trigonous' fix worked for me mostly, except I still have to unlock my phone before it finishes turning on hotspot. Also, for any totally novice users coming in to try to do this, I had a fun time at first locating the Tasker Configs file, if you create a back up in tasker it will create the file for you so you can copy the .xml to the proper place.
Most important part of this post, to me at least, is there a way to get it to by pass my unlock and just do it or do I have to pull out my phone still and unlock it for it to finish the task?

I'm no expert, but why not set your cars Bluetooth as a trusted device, therefore unlocking your phone when connected, then maybe a brief delay after connection allow it to continue?
Thank you

Thanks man, saved me some time, it works perfectly. I installed AutoInput and was moving in the same direction.

Its installed and enabled for me. I had an update for it not too long ago, but don't remember when exactly.
Enabled here
Sent from my Pixel 2
Seems to be disabled for me, but I actually had to go into the Play Store to find any indication that it existed on my device (not visible amongst my installed or disabled apps).
I wondered whether it might be related to my having disabled Messages and GMail (I don't use either), but enabling them didn't seem to change this.
It's disabled for me, same as Large Hadron
I think it disabled or enabled depending on the service provider(sim card) you are using,so better to keep it as it is.
In my country we don't have wifi calling.
Enabled here. Updated yesterday.

What happened to the mapping that the Gear S use to show for my walks, hikes, etc

Both my Gear S3 watch and the S-health app on my Android phone use to show a map of my route. I was able to share/send it via email from my phone and use it with some other computer mapping programs. I know its been gone a while but don't recall when it might have disappeared. Or maybe I've done something to kill that feature or its been moved to some sub-menu? I've just finally got around to asking what happened to it. Anyone know what's what?
Thanks in advance.
You must enable GPS on Watch.

Thanks. Just looked around on the watch.
Is it on the watch or one of the Gear settings done in the phone app?
I don't see a specific GPS setting in the phone. I see some location/map stuff?

There are a setting in the watch setting : Location to enable or disable the watch GPS (like on phone), and other setting for each exercice in the SHealth app on the watch. When you launch a "Walk" exercice for exemple on the watch, there are some settings on watch screen and you can disable/enable the GPS for this exercice.
I have been looking around and tweaking various settings on both the watch and in S-health on my android phone. Location is ON. I have not been able to get back the map or track of my route. S-health on the phone use to be able to export or share a gpx route that I could view using Garmin software and I can't get that working either. I might be missing something obvious???? Thanks for any additional help.
Here's the type of maps that I had but are now gone:
I had the same issue, no map on watch after a training, and position switch was on.
But today I started manually a walk session and a pop-up appeared, on the watch, asking me to give permission for position.
So I confirmed the permission tapping on the check symbol and now it works again!
I think that this happened after I paired another phone which made an hard reset of the S3. It seems not enough to set position on, you should also confirm the position permission by manually starting a training session (if the session start in automatic detect, the popup does not appear).

automatically activate wifi?

Hello
i use an app to automatically activate wifi when my screen is on and i'm home and to disable wifi when my screen is off it worked fine on my old phone and even on my oneplus 6t with android 10. but on my x50 pro it does not work automatically each time a popup asks me manually: the application requires authorization: activate or deactivate wifi: authorize or refuse.
how to delete this request and make it automatic (my phone is root)
I don't have a solution but i have the same problem.
My only 2 cents is that it seems to be mainly linked to the chinese ROM being very "harsh" in blocking everything. Any similar issues i had were solved by using the EU ROM, even with all the other implications of that right now.
i have the eu room and it's the same thing
I was gonna use Tasker to do a similar thing. But that also has that.
There is an option in Developer Options called "Disable Permission Monitoring". Automatic switching of wifi/bluetooth works with this option

that's the solution! thanks
I was wondering what that option was about (it doesn't disable permissions entirely, if someone thought that, i wondered ). Good catch!
