To root phone's Android all you have to do is to add a suitable su binary to Android's filesystem, preferably to directory /data/local/tmp, and make it executable.
You can achieve that by means of ADB.

Hi.
i recently rooted my work phone (ION , kind of like sapphire ,1.6).
Rooting was done by using the canyongen mod recovery image to load the device in recovery mode , backuup the original system image , change the default property ro.secure=0 and then flashing the system.img again to the rom.
So basically i didn't really change the original rom (thanks to Amon Ra in some post here in XDA).
I wanted to gain root access inside android apps and couldn't, short test shows no su or sudu executable exists on the device, even though when i'm not root and typing su ro sudo i get permission denied....
I never cmopiled anything for arm processor, i do have the source code checked out (for donut) but i'm not sure how can i compile the su (anyone knows which linux package contains it ? ) and if i need to twik it.
I'm not sure that in such a sensative pieace of software i can count on internet ready made builds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I bought New SYH WP800 android phone,
running android 4.4.4,processor is MTK6572,
My phone has su binary file in /system/xbin/ but not in /system/bin/
All of root required application can't access su binary file, like es file explore, super user app, ROM tools box.
I tried to root but all of root tools said "Your device is already root, unroot?", but I can't unroot.
Then I tried in terminal and adb , "cp /system/xbin/su /system/bin/" but can't, error shown "Read-only file system".
"rm /system/xbin/su" can't work, too.
Finally, I tried with MTK droid tools, still not work!
Help me please! :crying:
very sorry for my bad english! I hope you will know what I mean!
Thanks everyone!
Hi everyone, I got a vivo y33s and wanted to ask if you can root it and if there are any custom roms
Every phone's Android can get rooted.
All you have to do is either to replace the pre-installed suite of Android shell commands ( AKA Toybox ) by a version what contains the su command or adding a suitable su binary to Android's filesystem, preferably to /data/local/tmp.
Whether a Custom ROM like LOS etc.pp. exists for this phone or not, IDK. GIYF ...

Every Android OS can get rooted: you simply have to put a suitable SU binary to Android's filesystem - preferably to /data/local/tmp - and make it executable.
