Hello !
While I'm here reading for a few weeks (not full time though... thanks to my sanity), I have a Huawei MediaPad T5 AGS2-W09.
A few month ago I installed Lineage OS on it, but I wasn't happy at all with the smoothness of it. Gave me errors, was lagging a lot, well I wanted to get back to EMUI.
So I tried to flash it back to stock ROM through TWRP, and from there I had my first "hard brick".
No screen, no response from the device, except that vibration saying it's starting.
I discovered that it's booting to fastboot, but still with no screen.
I tried multiple solution, and I found out that the Unbrick method from Multi-Tool worked ! I got back to a screen and Fastboot and even TWRP !
But... from there I tried to flash back a rom from TWRP, and now I'm back to my hard brick... (I should stick with what's simply working, I know.).
And now, I tried maybe 20 times to "Unbrick" with Multi-Tool, and I can't get back to have a screen lighting up with at least a logo or something.
I tried to erase through fastboot, flash manually all files from UPDATE.APP, tried different firmware version, and I'm out of ideas...
Multi-Tool in Fastboot mode shows :
Filmware version : nothing OR EMUI 8 ... .178 (C431)
Device name : AGS2-W09
Oeminfo : hw/eea
Serial N : F........
IMEI : F....... (same as serial)
Bootloader state : UNLOCKED
Battery voltage:
I ordered a Funky Huawei credit, but if I can't even start to erecovery with a screen, I don't see how I can perform that update...
Thanks for any help !!
hi even i am also faceing same issue can anyone help me

do you have system, boot, cust, recovery, userdata.img with you i want to try with multi-tool
[moved from HarmonyOS upgrade thread]
As a side note on the black screen some are facing:
The ribbon cable going into the screen is very sensible. First time I've reassembled the tablet did not turn on the screen (I could see the backlight but all was black).
So I've reopened and disconnected the cable from both ends: on the LCD screen's connector you have to pull the white lever up from the other side (opposing cable entrance) and cleaned the cable's connetors it with alcohol.
While mounting I've left the tablet in bootloader mode to see how the screen reacts while assembling it and .... it flickers alot. Infact after 2nd try the screen remained on, but slightly bending the tablet diagonally turned it of or made it flicker.
So I've reopened the table the 3rd time and done some heavy modding: added electrical duct tape near the batter (on the plastic) case under the cable, added duct tape under the cable on the LCD entry, duct tape over the connector (where there was a small yellowish piece before)
Most importantly I've removed the black foam from the back of the LCD which was pressing the cable (near the entry in the white connetor). I did it by using a cutter to (very) lightly make a trace on the foam (we do not want to pierce the aluminium back of the LCD) and used my fingers to rub it off.
The 4th reassembly was almost perfect, it did flicker once when snapping in a clip but no more issues when trying to bend tabled diagonally or pressing with force on some areas of the screen.
Also: never use metallic tools to open this tablet, only plastic cards, your nails if they hold, plastic poker cards, etc.

Cracks are not always visible. But if they're not there, I'd suggest you open the back case and try to reseat the ribbon cables at the touchscreen PCB. While at it, check the flat silver cable connecting that board to the mainboard also. Make sure nothing is jarred loose by the drop.

thanx for responding...i did exactly what you said ..i disconnected both cables (silver and brown) and put them back..more than half of the screen started working, the other part was just dead and those parts didnt work even when i tilted the screen.. like 5 minutes later the entire screen is dead again......do you think its the digitizer?

Sorry for the late reply. I've run into this problem before. When you have a digitizer that works for a few minutes then stops as the tab warms up, (1) more likely than not, there's a crack somewhere or a tear on the ribbons, visible or not, or (2) the new screen boycotting the old firmware. No new screen points to faulty hardware. However, it doesn't hurt to eliminate possible software causes.
The best test I can think of at this point would be to first check the physical connections again (check the connectors and ribbon ends under a magnifying glass, make sure they aren't damaged, bent or stripped), then re-flash the firmware following instructions in another thread, then turn on "show touches" in settings. If you still see "ghost touches" after a few minutes, the digitizer is likely ass-kicked by the drop.
I've had a digitizer on a TF act "leisurely" because of a crack across the width of the bordering black strip that couldn't be detected with the naked eye because it severed the circuit on just the underside. The surface was totally smooth. As the crack spread, it became obvious.
If I had access to your glass, I could've tested for you. Too bad.
(sorry, just saw that there's a help forum - but I don't know to move my post, or if I can.)
I had ordered a screen / middle frame assembly and replaced everything, based on a couple youtube videos (I hadn't run across the replacement thread here at the time). It went pretty smoothly, except for the logic board screw, which I had a difficult time getting out, and more difficult getting back in. All because I was impatient - I was visiting family and away from all my tools. So I ended up using needle nose pliers to get the logic board screw back in, but after I finished, the OPO wouldn't turn on. The screen does display the initial charging animation when plugged in though, so I think it's just not getting the power button click. After opening it back up, it looks like I damaged the ribbon to the power button. - I have attached the best picture I could get.
Any ideas on what my next step should be? It's hard to tell where the apparently exposed wire is run - to the other contact? It's hard to tell if it's shorting, or what.
I would appreciate any ideas or help!
Thanks
Hi All,
I have a Nexus 5 16GB that's about 14 month old.
The phone is now running Marshmallow 6.0.1 which was installed through OTA updates.
The device is stock and unrooted.
After accidently dropping the phone and cracking the screen, the phone was initially still working.
Then after a week or two the device began to reboot itself with increasing frequency until it became stuck in a loop.
I have attempted to enter the fastboot/recovery mode but as soon as the option appears the device reboots, so this was a no go.
I have investigated and ruled out the following issues i believe MAY not be the cause:
1. Battery - i have disconnected the battery and run on the mains but issue still occurs
2. Android - i have managed to boot the phone on a few occasions and it has functioned without issue for over 24 hours
I have removed the power button completely and the phone boots and functions fine. When it is placed back the reboot issue becomes intermittent.
I have now replaced the screen and initially the device was working for another 24 hours but the reboot issue has now begun again.
I have read many forums & the following guide by Eross - ''[SOLVED] Nexus 5 stuck in boot loop animation (Lollipop) , partially working with 4.4'' but my problem is the troubleshooting i've done so far does not conclusively point me in any one direction, as to what the possible issue could be.
My phone is out of warranty and i'm considering maybe sourcing a motherboard as a last resort, but only if this is what is required.
Please help!
Sounds like the power button is sticking or the outer plastic button is putting too much pressure on the power switch.
Where did you get the replacement screen? I purchased three from Aliexpress and the internal components didn't always line up properly.
I am using the original power button.
The replacement screen and frame was brought from Wholesaleworld on ebay.
I have read another thread on here were the user mentions SLIGHTLY separating the backing plastic material from the power button with a razor blade and this has solved the issue.
Has anyone else tried this with any success?
Or do you think its worth replacing the power button altogether?
Regards,
I had a power button on an n5 that was sticking, so I removed the motherboard from the phone, cleaned around the area with pure alcohol, and rapidly pressed and released the power button using slightly more pressure than normal for about 3 minutes. This solved the problem for me.
Replacing the motherboard power button would usually be a lot cheaper than a complete motherboard replacement.
If you want to replace the motherboard, I would look for a used n5 with a smashed screen and working internals.

I have never had the need to clean any internal components with rubbing alcohol, but your method seems to be the cheapest & most practical to try first.
I'm assuming the alcohol will not damage the board in anyway, but is there a method to applying the alcohol & cleaning i.e. using a lint free cloth maybe?
Also, if i was to replace the motherboard power button would this have to be soldered on?
I used a cotton swab lightly damp with alcohol to clean around the power button. Don't soak the area, give it time to dry, and importantly, disconnect the battery before doing anything to the board.
The motherboard button can be desoldered and a new button soldered in place of the original.
So I have been using nexus 5 from the start and a few months ago the phone started showing some weird signs.
It was shutting down every time I used the power button and if I tried to turn it on it would turn back off.
So I remapped the volume button as a power on and power off and even installed a custom ROM. It was all working perfectly , I was using volume button to turn on the screen. Sometimes I even used power button for screenshot and no problem.
But yesterday my phone just gave up one me.
It will go up to the google screen and then just stay there .
So I thought it was because of the aosp ROM so I managed to go into twrp recovery , wiped everything including system and flashed the stock image of marshmallow .
It did turn on and reached till the setup and page and then again turned off.
So now sometimes it does turn on goes to google screen and then shuts down.
I am able to go into bootloader mode by pressing volume down and power button .
But the damn phone won't go past google screen
Sometimes it does then it again turns off.
Does anyone knows what is happening?
Ive Been having same problem. Couldnt access factory reset Via recovery says only "No command".
You need to replace your power button it is a known problem for many N5 users

I did open up my phone and cleaned it but it didn't work.
Are u sure about that?
I read somewhere on reddit that because of not using the nexus charging cable sometimes the boot ic gets damaged. Can that be the case?
It's the switch. Very common problem, I recently bought a 5-pack of the switches and replaced the one on my wife's phone.
How did you clean it? Did you use a bit of spray solvent in it (there are YouTube videos on this). Cleaning with solvent also did not work for me.
If you don't have the tools + experience needed, DO NOT TRY TO REPLACE THE SWITCH YOURSELF! The switch is smaller than a grain of rice and you can damage the phone.
It took me three tries - one of them I dropped the switch and lost it, one I bodged the soldering and had to remove the new item. My soldering iron is not the greatest but at least it has temperature control and I have multiple tips for it. The ground plane of the board that the switch solders to wicks a lot of heat and that makes it hard to get the old one off, the tiny through holes are very hard to clear.
So I suggest that you will need someone who has experience and the correct tools for soldering surface mount components for this job.

Okay thanks . I will try finding a repair shop.
Hi,
I have been searching across all forums to find a similar issue someone else has faced but couldn't find an answer.
Surprisingly a small splash of water on my phone S6 - 920F, caused it to display - Phone Overheating and will switch off.
Post that i dried the phone, kept in rice - did all the standard stuff for 2 days. Then when i switched it on - no response. Won't enter recovery mode - but only entering download mode - great! Not dead i presumed.
I tried to load stock firmware but once odin requests reboot it goes blank - no samsung screen nothing....no recovery either...then i tried installing TWRP, still no recovery. Have tried installing the stock firmware multiple times..still getting no samsung logo, no recovery screen - Only download mode works.
Any ideas? Any possibility I can still get this phone to work?
Thanks in advance!
had the same problem i solved the problem by buying a new m0therboard for ebay they go around 50 dollars they exist in amazon too but they are a bit more expensive around 70 dollars and i installed it which was way more easy than i thought and just flash the local os and done
oh so some hardware is surely damaged! Here I thought a phone switching on in download mode means its all good!
Thanks from the prompt reply!
Open back cover and with a magnifier glass look carefully after green marks of corrosion between electric components. It would be a good idea to use an old toothbrush for gently clean the motherboard and maybe some alcohol too.
I had the same issue. I tried wireless charger and phone worked, just normal charging doesn´t worked.
