[APP][2.2+] Screen Control - Updated (September 3, 2014)

Screen Control is an app that will turn the screen on or off using the proximity sensor.
Features:
- The screen will automatically turn off when it detects being inside a pocket or face down on a table. It will also automatically turn back on when removed from these conditions.
- You can wave your hand over the sensor to turn on and off as well.
- Sensor is deactivated when the phone is in landscape mode to prevent accidental reads.
- Widget (Only turns off the screen and must have device admin enabled)
- Simple UI
- Simple setup
- No ads
- Small file size
To uninstall this application, you HAVE to remove the device admin.

I am sorry to hear that, but that is just how it is sometimes, especially with multiple roms. Some devices just do not work. I am coming out with a big update later today, but I do not know if it will fix it for you. Update will have total screen control where you can turn on and turn off your screen as well as a new UI.

I do have that planned one of these days, I have just been busy lately.

It works on HTC Sensation. For my opinion sensitivity is a bit low. Add function for user to change sensitivity like he want it and system control to disable unlocking if you have it in the pocket.

I was searching for something like this for two days. I have a waterproof case made for d different phone that works great, but no way to access side buttons. Old phone had one, new one does not.
This is great and works on my Samsung Galaxy Exhibit (renamed from Exhibit II by Samsung). Thank you so much, this made my day!

I have delayed the update for a little while longer. Below is a list of what it will include.

In the mix of working on this update, I hate to say that I made a HUGE mistake on the wakelock and acquired it in the wrong method. Because of this, you will see some battery drain. Therefore, I have unpublished the app from the market until this update is ready. I am terribly sorry and will get this update out asap!!!! Forgive myself for being a noob.

Don't worry, those things happens when your developing applications and you always find something new after testings. That's why updates are. I'm sure you'll fix it soon.

Tested on huawei mediapad and its not working. Shame, combined with iseeyou app this would have been great.

So, if we just stop it but leave it installed, does it still effect the wakelock and battery drain? I ask since I will get notified when you update, although I guess you will announce it here so we will know?
I have used it far more than I thought I would, great app. Remember Lubarsky's Law of Cybernetic Entomology too.

If you stop the service, the wakelock will be disabled. I just finished doing the fixes on the update. Now I am just testing and checking the battery consumption. It should be available some time today.

I was going to post something about the wake lock but I see you're already on it. Excellent work! I'll download the newest version and post my review later.

Tested the new version on huawei mediapad ics, it works the few minutes after screen is off but often the service will stop and showing the fc message.

Yes, new version 1.1 on my Samsung Galaxy Exhibit (II) 4G will not respond to shake, lags like the cpu is at minimal setting with conservative governor, and then when I get it unlocked, it does an FC. I'll see if I can get a logcat of what is happening. Back to the version 1 (thanks to Titanium Backup) that I can use when I need it only.

[Q] Orientation tilted by 90 degrees

Hi,
I have a problem with my galaxy note 10, I noticed that in some apps this orientation is tilted by 90 degrees, so instead of down, the left side of the screen is down. Can anyone help me with a solution to recalibrate the gyroscope?
The happens in more than 1 app and also happens in live walpaper so I don t think it s app related.

Which live walpaper are you using? I use an app called ultimate rotation control to force the an to any which way I please, at any given time. The app has an option to lock a certain orientation that can be set whenever you want to keep a certain orientation, no matter which way you turn the tablet. The app has free 7 day trial and can be found in the Google play store. If you buy the pro key, the app will keep working after your 7 day trial.

Hi, Some of the apps where the gyroscope is visibly out of sync are Sensor kinetics - gyroscope demo and all other Hardware tester apps, VR tunnel live Wallpaper and all similar live wallpapers., Skull 3D live wallpaper, It s weird because for photosphere and Google Sky map it works but for other gyrospope specific apps, and i have tested allot, it is not. There has to be a way to recalibrate the Gyroscope like the Level apps have for the accelerometer.

Interesting.... Are you running a stock or custom Rom?

Hi, I just switched 3 different ROMS, just to see if this is ROM related.... it's not, same problem on all ROMS i did not try Android 4.3 CM ROMS, only the stock like ROMS, but i really enjoy using the pen, it keeps the screen clean and working with it is precise and i also use multitasking quit allot, more than i thought when i bought the tablet. I will try to make a video and pot it on YouTube and here, maybe i will get some help, but it's weird when you tilt your tablet back and it tilts the image to the left. I have found similar problems on other galaxy phones, but not on the note 10.1.

mate i advise you to not spam the dev threads with the same question.. it's selfish and it will only annoy people and you won't get the help you badly wanted in return..
this is the right place to ask so be patient and wait for responses..
first can you post a screenshot?... and have you tried doing a factory reset or reflash full-wipe?..

Hi, sorry for posting all over, I'm freaking out a little, and I'm just hoping someone will be able to help me with this. I attached some GIF's to this post, hopefully you will be able to see the animations.
I tried wipe data factory reset, and i wipe before every new ROM, 3 different ROMS. Is there any way i can reset Gyroscope stats like Reset Battery stats?
There was supposed to be a Calibrate Menu like in other Galaxy Phones, but it seems that the tablet does not have that.

It's just temporary. In a couple of months it'll be "Samsung's abandoned the Gear S2 - no updates since February."
This is my third Gear. Samsung gets the os and s/w stable and then leaves it there. That includes Samsung provided apps that run on the watch. It's rare that third parties update their apps too. When the Gear S3 comes out it'll have features the Gear S2 doesn't and that won't be pushed down. That's just the way it is. If people don't like that approach they shouldn't buy a Gear. *****ing to fellow owners who can't change that via this forum is just futile.

Just upgraded my Classic. Nice that they added a notification when the watch is disconnected but I like the functionality of Brrr (under Utilities in the app store, be sure you add the widget to your list otherwise it won't work) better: the vibration is stronger and there is a vibration when the watch reconnects as well.
Everything else is great, the unread notification colored dot is especially welcome.

Display Timeout
I just got the update in KS for Sport edition - went through and set watch to 5 minute display timeout. Turned watch off and back on to reboot and it still only stays on for 7 seconds when I bring it up to look at. Frustrating!!
Update - if I press the home/back button while bringing up to look at, it will stay on. HOWEVER, as soon as I rest my arm, the display goes off. Not at all what I was hoping for. I want it to stay on for 5 minutes even if I look away no matter what!!

How do I check for the update? I have a S2 3G with a nexus 6. Is it just in the gear manager?

It's probably peel smart remote. Open up the app then go into setting and turn off the notification or whatever it's called.

I am finding that the little dot that shows that there is an unacknowledged alert is only working for some notifications. For instance, it is not working for Textra or Business Calendar. Anybody else seeing this behavior?

Another finding - I have Display Timeout set to 5 minutes, Gestures turned OFF and Always on set to ON. What I am finding is that if I move the watch to look at it (gesture), it comes on and will stay on for 5 minutes then turn off. Although completely bass akwards of what I would have thought, it is doing close to what I want. I am open to hearing what others are seeing. Thanks.
Update: This was noticed, while NOT on my wrist, had it sitting on a desk and would see it go off after 5 minutes but could get it going again by shaking. On my wrist, it is hard to tell, as I'm moving around to much.

Gear S3 screen problem

Hello experts;
I've got a gear S3, it was working fine since the day,I notice the screen is off, but the watch was connected to the phone via Bluetooth and I can gear sounds off notifications in the watch.
The touch screen was responding as well as the bezel. I turned the watch on and off several times until the screen come back, but it start first from pixel to white screen.
It was looking like an old TV with some pixels like noise. And finally stabilize to normal.
I've found some threads like that but none have solutions or details why this is happening. Only due to watchmaster, application that I don't have
Does anyone got solution or idea about that problem?
FYI I have the latest Tizen 2.3.2.1 APK6

Static on screen is caused by watchmaster, even if you don't have watchmaster app itself, some of the popular watch faces in store (Detector by Liongate or Timeless by Pluto etc.) actually comes with their own watchmaster embedded. Try with a stock watchface.

Unfortunately after deleted all the downloaded watch faces, where I've left only the original ones. Bu, still have the same issue. I did a video during the issue but didn't find the way to upload it here. I linked some snapshot pictures taken from the video.

wow! I would exchange that. I have no knowledge or expertise, but that looks like a bad connection inside the watch to me.

This is what watchmaster is causing, you problem is different tho, either your display connection is bad or your battery is swelling

Is there any guide to open and disassembly? I bought it from another country. no way to get it replaced

Call Samsung and speak with them. "Usually" they can tell if it is still under warranty and will fix it. It doesn't matter where you bought it. ymmv
It doesn't hurt to try.

Have you done a factory reset?
If the screen is unresponsive, this is done by holding done the Home button until it says "Rebooting" then tapping the button continuously until the boot up menu appears, then tapping it down to the "Reset" option.

any idea whats causing this using it since 3 months i had a normal stock watch face but i recently turned brightness to 10 and turned on always on display for about 4 hours before this happened rebooting and even factory resetting doesn't solve it has been 2 days

Nice to see the back up of watch faces, something I don't think the current backup and restore feature does, at least not as far as I can tell. Slowly but surely the quirks and bugs get fixed!

I see one commenter on Sammobile says this latest update fixes Gmail notifications!

Can you confirm fliptwister whether or not the new update has solved the Gmail silent notification issue?

I just got the update also- phone app and watch. When I launched the phone app, it said there was an update, which I did then. But the watch- nada. Was impatient, so I went into settings on the watch itself and checked for updates, and it said it was there and so I installed that too.
Honestly, having even MORE watch faces I don't want and can't remove from the watch is just more irritating. I really only want to have choices ON THE WATCH that I want. Why can't they put them in only the phone app?
Really, I just want a real Google Assistant app, an always working gboard, and a calendar tile.... still waiting....

What's particularly weird about the Calendar tile is when you bring up the month view, you can even scroll through the months, but if you try to click on any given day in a month it just brings you back to today's date - but maybe that's something they will dix to give us a fully functional month view?

I probably should have specified I want a month calendar tile, like on the older watches. I keep forgetting there *IS* a calendar tile, it just doesn't show a calendar (month). What you described is the calendar app.

Nope, the calendar tile shows the month - it's just not very functional, as I mentioned. Open the six-day view tile, click on the first day, and scroll up - there should be an icon to select the month on the top left.

Nope, the calendar tile shows the month - it's just not very functional, as I mentioned. Open the six-day view tile, click on the first day, and scroll up - there should be an icon to select the month on the top left.

Hmm. When I click on the first day from the tile, it just says "No events" below the date and "add on phone" below that and it doesn't scroll up or down. I can only swipe right to dismiss that day and go back to the stupid 6 day display. Swiping up/down does nothing. Am I doing it wrong?
On a side note, I did just add the calendar app to launch when I click on the WatchMaker face date display. So at least that is a little helpful.

Hmmm - my first day has an event - do you have a day with an event? If so, click on that one and scroll up to see if you see the option to change views.

Nope. I don't have hardly any events. So that must be the difference.

And rightly so - it really does need fixing, and hopefully this new update or a future one does that - as I agree, the old tile was great (and still is, on my Gear S3). *Edit*: Forgot you mentioned already that this update didn't do it...

Anyone on DUJA experiencing better battery life?

Is this the same gesture as answering a call?

A little early on this. I can give a better answer in about a week. I have only fully charged watch once since update. I have 1 day 10 hours of use since last full charge and it is estimating 1 day 7 hours left. This is in line with what I was getting before. I have been getting about 2 1/2 days of battery life on average.
