P30 launcher - Huawei P30 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I am just curious, it is still possible to root a P30 these days? Why I am asking, I would love to use other launcher beside the default one cuz I don't like it, but I don't wanna lose the gesture navigation. If there is a solution, not necessarily rooting, please help me!
Many thanks.

[Q] Should I root?

Hi all,
I just got my Dutch Ascend Mate MT7-L09 in moonlight silver, and so far, I really like it!
Now I am wondering: should I root it?
I rooted my old phone, a gnex, because it missed the kitkat boat. I used different launchers and even used the Paranoid Android ROM for a while. But since I can get Google Now Launcher working, the only reason I found so far to root my Mate 7 is to change the grid size. And I miss google contacts.
Did you root your mate 7, and why did you? What are the benefits? Can you remove all huawei bloatware? Is it better for battery life?
If you are well satisfied with HAM7 currently then there is no reason for you to root. Otherwise just root ur Ham
Also, rooting will also give you the inability to receive official updates from Huawei later.
I also wont say that it will drastically improve your battery life since rooting wont touch anything unless youre giving it the authority to (i.e. Using apps like Greenify can improve ur battery life since it will hilbernate chosen apps)
DEFO Root ... u can uninstall unnecessary stock apps install third party apps .. etc ..
Unless there is a custom rom for this phone, there is no sense in rooting.

Why u saying useless
of course it is good ..
so many apps still running in background and drains batt. rooting to install ad-away to remove annoying banners ! installing exposed fram. to add useful apps .. for modding build.prop or local.prop .. and many more. .how can u say it is useless.. I would say what is useless is just CWM or TWRP .. as this needs for installing custom ROMs ...
I always when I root and I have all done I then go flash stock recovery back.. bcos when OTA update pops up I can quickly update..
Thank you for your reply. At the moment I will not be rooting, because I just don't understand too much about it. I want to be able to get the ota updates, and would not like to lose any warranties. But I will be missing some apps and functions

You won't loose warranty.. it is not HW modofy.. it is SW modify which can be put back to origin state..
For sure. I rooted my Mate 7 and flashed rom on the next day after I bought it. I do it for all the Android phones I have ever had.

The principle reason that I rooted my old Samsung was to use Titanium Backup in order to backup my phone. Plus it allows one to freeze apps, restore older versions of apps that actually work, if you downloaded a new version that has problem. With my old Samsung S plus there was no problem with loosing anything after rooting. It saved me more than once. Yet, for the Huawei, everyone seems to report that they have lost some function. I will root my Mate 7 if I can be certain it won't screw it up on some way.
I rooted my phone the second day I bought it. Main reason for me was the DPI that was set on 480 (everything is sooo big on your screen!). I find this impossible to work with and with root I changed it to 380. Geloof me, dit werkt veel prettiger!
Besides that I could also remove some of the Huawei apps that I never use.
Can some one explain to me for an idiot that has never rooted before how to root the mate 7? All I want is to have super permission in my phone so I can for instance get enter privacy control of which apps that I accept Internet access.
Is there any simple way to root my phone in a way that the phone appears 100 procent as an non rooted official mate 7 phone? And I want for instance the Huawei backup program to work with the computer.
How does it work when I install any future updates?
Will I need to Unroot the device?
I am. A computer Geek but I am a real idiot when it comes to Android rooting since
I have or dared to do it before.

I can understand your concerns but there is only one way in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2941525
If you are computer geek then it should be much easier for you as everything is done from computer... ? ? ?
If you want OTA updates, then you have to install the original recovery of your version (in case you want to install cwm recovery) plus you may need to unroot.
You can't hide root but you can unroot. Hope it help.

Hmmm that could be a great reason to root! Can you post a screenshot, preferably with google launcher? And what did you use to change the DPI? Ik ben erg benieuwd!
I've added 4 screenshots from my rooted Mate 7 with Nova Launcher. DPI is set at 380.
Ik hoop dat dit een goed beeld geeft.
I just got the ham7 and am using Nova launcher. You can set the app drawer for rows and column to 6 X 5etc. So they will look smaller. Basically the same as rooting. Per se...
Hi all,
what I finally did was edit the build.prop to set my dpi to 320. I like it this way! Then I used Xposed module 'App Settings' to adjust the system-UI dpi back to 480, like mentioned here earlier to get the nav buttons back in centre. Finally I used Xposed Module Dimensions Editor to change the status bar height and status bar icon size, because my browser and other apps started to overlap my status bar at the top. All looks great now, just the way I like it
If all you want is a different grid size just install a custom launcher. I have used both Nova and Apex and would recommend either. I think you will be stuck with the Huawei contacts though unless you can find an alternative you like at the Play Store.
I NEED to root regardless of what phone I'm using because i can't use another phone without the Tasker app.

Few questions about possibility of features

Hello everyone,
I have a few questions about customizing my oneplus 7 pro.
I don't really like the lockscreen of OnePlus, I don't like the way it blures out the background when there is an notification. Also the clock doesn't look good to me. Is there an way to get another lockscreen? Like one from Samsung or other manufactures. Not talking about those lockscreen apps because they glitch, I already tried them. I have root access if that is needed.
I also don't like the quickpanel, I wish there was an way to get another one, I like the ones from Huawei and Samsung Experience 8.0. Or the one from OxygenOS 8.1.
I hope somehow can help me,
Kind regards,
Crewz
Anyone that could help me?

Google assistant

Does anyone know how I can get google assistant going on p30 mate. I use nova launcher and was able to swipe right to read news. Does anyone know a similar app that could do something like.
This is what I want

Question Is there any way to get gesture controls working on custom launchers?

Hello XDA,
I recently bought this nice phone (POCO X3 Pro) and I immediately installed Nova Launcher PRO, because I don't like the default POCO launcher. Later, I found out gesture controls only really work with the POCO launcher. Is there any way to fix this?
I'd prefer not to use any third party apps that implement their own system (like edge gestures), I'd rather see a real fix.
Thanks in advance!

I'm exactly in the same situation. really sad :-(
Seems like for now the only solution is third party apps.. I don't want those lol
I'm using Microsoft Launcher. All the gestures work perfectly on this launcher. It's been just 3-4 days since I'm using this launcher and I really love it. You can really test it and give me Feedback.
By the way, I am using Poco M2 (shiva).
Two issues here are that
1. You're using a different phone than we do
2. I bought Nova Prime before I got the phone. I'd prefer using that instead.

I try and search a lot right now there is no way u can use Fullscreen Gestures with nova without third party apps
but you can install the Fluid Navigation Gestures app and try to hide default Navbar
Hiding The Big Stupid Navbar Android 11
Long story short, Q gestures is absolutely terrible. I use a third party app for navigation. however, EVERY single app I've ever tried seems to be unable to hide the nav bar due Google's screwery. in fact, even Fullscreen Qgestures magisk module...
forum.xda-developers.com
I use magisk mod and work perfectly
just to remember you have to turn on autostart and set battery saver to no restrictions
