Q: creating flashable rom backup - Sony XA2 Ultra Questions & Answers

hello everyone, Iam wondering..
I remember back in the day with CWM recovery, it was possible to make current running rom backup with all apps settings, everything into a single .img file wich was flashable from recovery and then even if u had empty device you would get rom and everything back.
Nowdays twrp makes rom backup into a multiple files wich are not flashable.. so Iam wondering
is there a way nowdays to make complete full rom backup into a single flashable file please?

possible to make flashable rom image from recovery or not ???

any ideas how to do it guys?

[Q] How to remove a custom modification?

I have Android Revolution HD, and already installed a few custom mods like lockscreen, weather etc.
My question: How can I remove just a single mod? I can use the restore option but I don't want to backup each time I install a mod.
Thanks.
Anybody knows?

you have a couple of options:
1. you find out what files the mod changes and make a copy of the old ones first
or
2. have the person that created the mod make a flashable un-mod zip
3rd option is for you to make your own un-mod flashable zip

I think I can only do the first one. IDK how to make un-mod flashable zip.
Unfortunately mod files may change some very important files on your phone. Without opening the mod and seeing what files are changed there is not much more you can do. So if you still have the mod you can use (well I use) winrar to see the files that are involved with the mod. Then pull those files from your original ROM and overwrite the modded files using an app like Root Explorer. This may only work in some cases.
Another way is to take that mod you have and replace the files in it with the default files and use it to restore back.
The best advice I can give you is always take the time to do a NAND backup before installing any mod in the future.
If you have a previous NAND backup you could restore it and take your losses with what you have done from that point till now.

Need help setting up flashable ROM

Hello Guys,
I need to make a flashable ROM.... I already have boot.img and system from nand backup... Now all i need is the META-INF.... Where can I get it? Thanks.
You can pull the meta-inf from any other rom. Be careful though with your flashing. Especially if your are changing the boot.img. If something goes wrong, the phone will stay at your splash screen. the only thing you will be able to do is restore from a backup. So def. nandroid.

So what do i do to make the ROM then?
I really don't suggest you try to make your own ROM if you don't know to set it up at all. The only reason i'm saying this is because you have to learn the basic file system structure before you even get into modding the system. The flashable zip has the same structure. And it's critical that things are in the right place. It's just not easy for me to show you with out you doing some research. What exactly are you looking to change that the other already made roms don't have? I can surely help you out with modding a rom but I can't tell you how to create a rom.

Okay, my ROM consist of Android Revolution Dual Core and Tweaks and removed nearly all HTC apks and edited some extra files and themed i
Okay. Sounds cool enough. Have you modded the files on your PC and are looking to flash them to your phone to test them out? Or are the modded files already on your phone and you just want to package the whole thing up?
If you're looking to make your own ROM just extract out the ROM you're basing it on, delete the apks you don't want and then ZIP it up again. Otherwise you have to deal with setting up the Android kitchen to make your own ROM

Framework files created by kitchen

If you upload the framework and twframework files to the kitchen to create a new battery icon, for example, are those newly created apk files going to work with that same ROM if you reinstall that same ROM after using another ROM?
Just wondering if you have to get a new zip file from the kitchen each time you go back and install a ROM you may have had before the current ROM you may be running.

Ahh, the anwser to the first question would be Yes.
The answer to the second non-question would be No.
Simpler: Install "ABC Rom" flash changes made from "ABC Rom" framework files.
Thanks, TG.
Tired of trying out a new ROM, going back to the other ROM and re-creating the ZIP file all over again.

Here's an easier way to go back: Before flashing a different Rom, while in Red Recovery, make a backup.
That way all you have to do is run Restore from recovery. It will automatically name the backup by the date.
I then use root explorer and rename it to the rom that you were using.
Then when I have the time, I'll copy the backups to my external SD card and to my computer.
There you go. No more reinstalls. Just remember to back up your contacts or you'll wind up with the list from when you backed up last.

Flashable rom zip from /system?

I have clockworkmod backup of cyanmobile & do not have its flashable rom zip. This happened sometimes back when my sdcard got corrupted & hence formatted to bring it back to life. I was left with no backups or other firmwares. So I quickly made backup of cmx at that time. Now I have almost all data except for cmx.
So is there any method to create flashable rom package from /system?? Pls. I dont like to restore /system & boot.img that way everytime. I want it as the usual rom zip. Original download link is dead already & my cmx backup is huge!!. Pls. help me!!

First week with rooted device and boot animation procedures

It's my first time customizing an android phone, and I have to say, there's a lot to learn. Samsung devices are made to read qmg files when it comes to boot animations, but I'm already making my own boot animations, and I have a lot of questions I hope this post isn't that long.
================================
1- after installing CWM can I UNINSTALL it using odin? Or is there any other way to do it without my computer?
================================
2- I know that you can't UNflash files, so when I flash a zip file (specifically bootanimations4U) what files should I back up? I'd rather back up only the files that will be replaced? Or is there an app to back up files from a certain folder and just bring them back if I want to bing back the normal animations?
================================
3- let's say that my device is rooted, it has CWM installed, and also, has the . zip enabler flashed already and in use. I'm planning to FORMAT my phone in a couple of weeks because I want to use it as if it's rooted with the whole storage available (I don't have storage problems I just want to do that) but my question is...
************************ ==========
-Q3: if my goal is just to delete my data and apps only, can I just use the factory reset from the settings? Do I need to do anything regarding CWM or the zip file I've flashed? Will CWM be deleted? Will I have to flash that .zip reader enabler again? What do I need to do if I needed to reset my phone without any problems?
================================
4- is there a file size limit for the bootanimations.zip files on Samsung files (galaxy s5 android 6.0) and also the audio file size limit?
================================
5- what is the condition in which I have to flash the bootanimation4U . samsungani . zip file and not the other one?
