before anyone gets real nasty, I will just mention it... wrong section...Q&A is where you wanted to post
also the [REQ] tag is to request development, e.g. add OCR mode to Camera
but in answer to your question
yes... you can install Live Wallpapers found on the market
NB OCR in Camera was just off the top of my head, standalone apps on Market so no point

aslong as your phone has build.prop sdk=7 youll see livewallpapers in the market, most 2.1 roms have this in build.prop so just search
and might i suggest a wallpaper, LWP NexusMod <-- best one, but on the G1 might lag quite a bit

Anyone need graphic design/layout help?

Here's the deal–I'm a graphic designer who found myself sans job, and have been looking to do some different kind of work to keep from going insane. I have thought about trying to prog my own apps, but java is still a bit over my head. So if there are any devs that could use some design work for apps, wallpapers, or whatever, PM me and we'll go from there. Right now, im thinking this service would be free of charge...
If you really want to, you can even check out my past work here.

Preach on brother. AND it really pisses me off that having a grid of rounded rectangle icons with reflections is seen as the pinnacle of mobile design today.

Suggestion: make mock-up's of some popular apps with better layout and post them. You may get some attention and create a buzz.

This depends on how far you are looking to go. Just icons, full UX?
Perhaps a mockup of a file browser (root explorer for example) would be a good start. They are all quite rudimentary in layout/design but most function well.
Again, this depends on what aspect of design you are talking about.

Ah nice.
I would definitely overhaul a client app that has a TON of downloads in the market. Most devs have zero understanding about layout, nor do they care. File browers/explorers, chat clients, irc clients, etc are all big time offenders.
Just look at the top downloaded free apps and go for one that you actually use. By selecting one you use, the flow through the app is something you are familiar with and fixing/redoing the experience becomes personal and understood.
That's how I would go about it anyways

This is a key part, IMO. Great advice from deprecate.
Also, FYI - I just wanted to let you know that your portfolio is very impressive. As a fellow UI designer, you've got some skills.

Hey, thx for the kind words. Sometimes you can forget what you have accomplished inn the past when times are tough.
I just know that I've used the great stuff you guys have made, and I really want to give back to the community. Since I cant prog worth a damn, graphics is gonna have to be it.
I hope you are able to do some work with Android developers. They really need it.
Get the AppAware app to check out what is most popular and make som mock-ups of those. I'm thinking Twitter (though there are a couple of good ones), RSS reader, Dialer, File explorer, Media player (podcast streamer, video player, youtube! oh good it
s so baaad). Or you could make a base interface that can be used on several different apps.
Right now, I'm looking at Andchat with zer0day. When/if we find an improved layout for him,I'll post it up like I did with the Pandora concept.
How about looking into Meta Morph and theming?
Since everyone wants their phone to look different than the next guys!
You could do some theming of your phone, post screen shots, and get some more buzz that way.
Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.
I'm a UX designer and am willing to help.
Graphic designer + Dev + UX designer = great software

(Request) Sensation Clock/Calander

I am wanting to find a way to install the default sensation clock and calander on the new cm7 build, is there any possible way and could someone help me get this done... ?
Thanks.
Nope. And i mean it. A lot of very good Devs/Chefs tried it and failed.
True!! is it that difficult ??

Unfortunately yes. but there are of course alternatives like " beautiful widgets" in the market for the clock. And pure calender for the calendar. Both are available in the market but both are paid. Worth it tho if you ask me. That way, you can have your cake and eat it too.
The problem with this is that you need the Sense API to use the HTC widgets. It's sorta like trying to run a Windows program on Mac or Linux.
Beautiful Widgets free has a nice clock though

[WIDGETS] Chameleon Launcher Widgets

Now that Chameleon Launcher has hit the Google Play market for real, I thought it'd be a good time to start a thread on xda for widgets made for this very promising Android launcher.
NOTE: The URL to the Chameleon Launcher 'make a widget' page that contains all the information required to make a widget, including a template, is HERE
Please, post your creations below...
Cool! And I subscribed to this thread.
I want to dive into developing widgets because of the lack of them. Chameleon says we can use the source of their widgets.
So I wanted to make a EU style datetime widget but i cannot find the source of any widget except for an empty template.
There are links to the widgets landing pages but that only gives me the source of index.html. And I think I need more than just that.
Anyone knows more about it?
I published my question and then i thought that maybe i am posting in the wrong forum. If so, please Mod, teleport it to the right one.

Almost all the neccessary files are linked in the index.html; you can find all the stylesheets and javascript files there. Also, you know there is a manifest.xml-file in the template-folder, so maybe you can find that by adding /manifest.xml to the url. (don't know if it works!)
If I may request, a reddit widget that allows you to login to your reddit account and display your frontpage
Chameleon it's an overhyped %&^$ !
I regret paying my hard earned money to backup this &^*%&
Thank God Google didn't bought it to use as the future interface of Android ), it wouldve mean total surrender to Apple and it's ios.
@hobolooter - It's ure right to disagree, as it's my right to say it's and overhyped crap.
The idea behind it seems good but the result...
Maybe with the help of the community it would become useful indeed - good, practical widgets needed ! , not just stupid widgets for the teenagers, which are cool for the first 10 minutes and after that....
Mod Edit: I am sorry but you must be confusing your right to post with Freedom of Speech. It is not your right to undermine someone else's work like this (let alone laced with profanity - it doesn't matter if you hash it, you are still cursing), regardless of how you may feel about it. Try this stunt again, and you will be penalized for it.
Theres a lot to be improved.
Good luck with your work!
I disagree and think it was in poor taste to post that in this thread. The fact that they opened up HTML5 widget development that actually works well is awesome. I'm working on a few widgets myself and a starter kit that doesn't suck (the one they provide is nauseating to a js dev).

Needs a decent calendar widget (needs similar functionality to GO Calendar, I haven't found better yet) and a News Republic widget before I'd consider purchase.
Also I hear custom wallpapers aren't supported?

You can use any wallpaper you like - just send it to Chameleon Launcher from the Gallery. No live wallpapers though.

Interesting... You tried the one by j4velin just called 'WallpaperChanger' on Google Play, as I don't believe his is programmed in such a way as to make it a 'live wallpaper' ?
Can your Chameleon homescreens slide/rotate like other launchers?
Sorry for hi-jacking, but I've been following Chameleon's progress and couldn't find these answers elsewhere.

Custom wallpapers are supported. Just share any image to Chameleon App.
I've been playing around with a Chameleon widget that displays unread emails from an IMAP account. It uses PHP (with the IMAP extension) to fetch and process the email headers on the server, which works nicely but is less than secure unless using SSL (which I am), since the email account credentials have to be sent to the PHP script in plain text.
I'll admit that I've had very little experience writing for Android--most of my recent work has been with Javascript and PHP. I seem to recall being told at some point that it would be either difficult or impossible to fetch email data from the native Android email app to use in an HTML5 widget platform like Chameleon. Is that the case? I'd prefer to get the data from the local device, particularly because I need to support Exchange.
If you've got more experience with Android's bowels than I do, can you confirm (or unconfirm) the information I'd been told? Is there a practical way to access the email files with Javascript?
Thanks!
D.
I tried it for 10mins and I think it sucked a lot on my Nexus 7, I think all the free ones are better I can see why it is paid but 10$ is kill.
Also I am surpsised we are allowing a PAID app to be supported on XDA we should delete this thread

[Q] Launcher, Music, and Best Music Mod

Hey all,
I have four(4) questions for all of you!
1. Which is the single most innovative launcher that works on our SG3? I'm talking innovative. Like SSLauncher, Sweeterhome et all. Please don't say Launcher Pro and ADW and stuff
2. Does the newest versions of ADW not let u change icons? Or am i dumb enough to not be able to figure it out. Please help me.
3. When i listen to music, there is always a buzz at the start or end of a song. Like the recording buzz. How can i get rid of that? Any mod or equalizer settings?
4. The best mod Music listeners? I'm currently using Beats by Contradictor
Hey, I'm not actually part of this forum but I used to own an I5800 and played around with it for a while.
1.) Launchers? You said quite a few there already. But maybe search for something called Sliderscreen through Google (its not on Play Store anymore). Or go for Launcher 7/LauncherWP8 (if you're on 2.2+)? Those two are quite unique.
2.) Yep, the new ADW doesn't allow you to change individual icons. You'll have to find a workaround for that. I know there's an app that let's you create shortcuts to apps that allows you to select your own picture but the name escapes my memory :L I'll update my post once I find it.
EDIT: Yup, found the app. Desktop VisualiseR. The link is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.bii.android.app.dskvzr
3.) I'm not quite sure of the answer. I never had a buzz whenever I listened to music. Proper equaliser presets are only available is 2.3+ I believe (or so I've seen in all those other music apps).
4.) Sorry but I don't know about this one either :/
Hope I helped though (in one way or another)
