Hello, apologies for the lengthy post.
I bought a used G780F, noticed it was rooted after taking home, but no big deal. Tried flashing it with Odin with HOME CSC, but it got stuck in a bootloop so I had to factory reset it, but it managed to update and everything was fine until I noticed emergency calls only...
I checked the IMEI status on my countries website, it was blocked for not being registered, so the carrier unblocked it and I just had to wait to get signal again. It's been a week since it got unblocked, so I should be getting service. The carrier told me it's unlocked so it's likely an issue with the phone, and I believe so too. My IMEI and S/N show up fine when using *#06#, I've basically tried every fix except Chimera tool as the license is way too expensive for me right now. Any help or advice would appreciated, thanks so much!

Well, I have the same exact issue.
I found out that this is a live demo unit that has been modified to run on a fake IMEI number to make calls.
My concern was that the root was interfering with my banking app and so I had to flash a new firmware to remove the root.
Interestingly, when I tried to remove it prior to flashing it kept coming back everytime I reboot the phone.

I literally did the same, but I already knew that my phone is a Live Demo, and I took my chances and got Status NG, so I re Rooted the phone and went to a Software Shop that fixed the IMEI for 5$, and yesterday I updated the Magsik App and got the IMEI Status back and looking for what the shop did, as I confirmed he didn't use Chimera tool

Bought a new S6 from Ebay that had been opened up to all networks. Discovered it was rooted which I didn't want so I flashed it with a stock Vodafone ROM. The phone worked fine for about 10 days then all of a sudden I got the message 'not registered on network' when I try to make call. It turns out that the IMEI number has changed. Does anyone know whether this type of problem can be sorted out?
Flash back to stock via odin.

IMEI Corrupted
I'm going to use a Vodafone ROM as this phone was originally on Vodafone before the seller had it opened up to all networks. THE ROM is G920FXXU1AOCZ_G920FVFG1AOC4_G920FXXU1AOCW_HOME.tar.md5. Does this sound like the right one? Sorry for all the questions - I'm new to this. The other thing worth mentioning is the IMEI at the moment is 350000000000006. Where could this have come from? Any ideas? It's weird because the original IMEI was in tact for about 10 days before it changed to the one above. Any help at all would be appreciated

Corrupt imei is known issue when flashing and rooted. That's why firdt thing you do when rooting, is you backup your stock rom together with efs folder. Idk which is your stock rom, you have to do some research, download that rom and use odin to go back to stock. You will lose everything you got on the phone btw so save any pictures or music.

Thanks for that. The problem I have is that there's no backup of the EFS folder or the stock ROM. Without these, is there any way of sorting this out or is the phone dead? Cheers
hi
i have same problem did you fix that if yes please help me
Bring S6 back to Samsung for repair
My guess is the phone you bought was stolen and after 10 days it got blacklisted.
Or the seller claimed he lost his phone to insurance company, sold it you, got a new one on insurance, and then after the 10 days the "lost" phone (your phone) got blacklisted.

I have the exact same problem, bro. All of the sudden my IMEI changed to 350000000000006 and I'm not able to register on my network. Did you manage to fix this? Please, let me know.
The same story, any help?
How I can fix this? Please help
Get Chimera tool and you should be able to fix it no problem
Did you manage to fix?
My baseband shows as attached after installing vador rom so I'm confused
If you didn't formatted/wipe the efs/nvbackup, there's a chance you can retrieve your imei.
But if it doesn't, the only way is to bring it up to Samsung or a good phone technicians to repair or get you a new branded IMEI for your phone. Mine was fixed by a technician using Octopus box tool.
You may try my method, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63693480&postcount=28

Already look diferent videos and post on internet but nothing is making work.... Any sugestions????
Hi,
This is my first post but, I'm an avid lurker. I am having some issues with my girlfriends 920i. It received an OTA update to marshmallow and ever since it won't read the Sim card. I've tried to flash the official fw through Odin and still having the same problem. Because it doesn't read my Sim card, I have zero access to any mobile network settings.
I am wondering if when they updated the marshmallow, I lost unlock capability.
Also, her imei and sn still match. Most of the problems I see people have are mismatched numbers, and her phone seems fine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So, I checked the firmware that I flashed and it was INS which seems to be the locked version.
I flashed the INU firmware this morning but still not reading my SIM.
I'm out of options at this point, I'm going to go back to lollipop and see how that goes.
Hi,
I am having this issue for my SM G-920I since 2/3 Jan, 2017. I am using fine on US Tmobile network since Oct 2015, but all of a sudden got the no SIM, emergency calls only and continues to stay like this.. I am curious to know if you resolved the issue and how. Thanks for any feedback!
Help me please
I'm having the same issue. Just flashed INS 6.0.1 firmware on my brand new G920I and now i can't get any mobile signal or data. Tried to flash ZTO firmware for my country, but same issue. My phone was fine before flashing INS firmware. IMEI it's fine too. Recovery shows: Applied multi-csc. What can i do? ((((((((((

Already updated and tried to downgrade to 5.1.1, but no sucess. I don't think it's a hw problem, cause it was working before the INS firmware flash, and IMEI number still shows right, no matter what rom i flash (now on MIUI). Can i clean EFS partition and try to flash ZTO firmware again, or i might lost my IMEI and get more problems? Also, wondering if advanced wipe with everything checked on TWRP can help. (data, internal storage, system, sbfs, cache, dalvik cache)
Can you open the phone dialer and enter this code *#*#4636#*#* then clikc Phone Information, and send a screenshot of what you see in the screen (Make sure no IMEI in the screenshot, before you post it here) ? Also check if Radio is OFF or ON.

Codes on my dialer doesn't work, but i'm sure the IMEI is right cause it's showing in phone information. Also, radio is on cause when i search for mobile networks the carriers of my country appears on the screen but when i click on then, just appears a message saying that can't connect
Same problem, any solutions?
I had same issue for over a year, you can check details in my thread, resolved by factory warranty motherboard replacement (free of charge, even thou knox was tripped when I bought it, and I told lady in authorised repair shop that i don`t have warranty).
Forgot to mention that I also tried to repair it via Octoplus box, both by me and some other people (wanted a second opinion), DRK fixed, few new certs written, etc.), not only by flashing fw via Odin or Smart Switch.
And I was 99% sure it was hw, turns I was right.
P.S. country dependable: - in some countries they will probably want to sell you a new motherboard in Samsung (happened to me), but in other factory warranty will be accepted (probably, if the phone is not older than 3 yrs I guess)
I'm the dumbest person on Earth. I own now a G930F brick that lose IMEI after updating to Nougat and I did the steps to recover my EFS from a Post here and now I have a Kernel Panic that says Power Reset or Unknown Upload Mode. I tried several times to flash on Odin my latest stock ROM but nothing happens. My laptop recognize the phone so as Odin but I don't know if I have to use other software to recover my phone. I can't get into bootloader mode, it just says some codes and the android logo saying power reset or unknown mode. When i press vol down and power to shut it off it gets stucked on samsung logo and some codes on green and pink upside to the left. I just can't turn off the phone so now its plugged to the wall.
I hope someone can help me... I'm really sad about it, sounds funny but I really I am.
Try holding Volume Down & Home & Power until the phone reboots 2 times, on the second time see if it boots into download mode

Try a different network SIM, maybe it's SIM locked to a specific carrier
And check if the IMEI is blocked, that happens a lot with 2nd hand phones, either reported stolen or the original owner got them on contract, sold the phone then stopped paying the contract and the carrier blocked the IMEI

Yeah that's what happened. I went to a service center and they told me that my phone has the imei blocked so they flashed a stock mm rom and then they plugged some kind of special cable to change the imei again. They told me that i can't update anything so now phone Is working on mm and i just have a last question about it. Can i update to nougat on odin without flashing the modem or something to not lose the imei again or Is just impossible to update. Phone Is rooted and twrp installed, that's how they gave it to me.

IMEI is on the EFS partition, you can backup your EFS partition using TWRP and other tools, so I guess you could restore it if you killed it again
Don't see why you couldn't flash an updated custom ROM via TWRP, but if you're flashing with ODIN you'll lose TWRP
Unless there is something else they did that requires that exact firmware
But we are reaching a grey area of what is allowed to be discussed on XDA as changing IMEIs is illegal in most countries and not to be discussed here

Disclaimer: So its not a stolen phone, prior owner was just being nasty. I bought the phone from a 2nd hand shop (Cash Crusaders, Kathu, South Africa), where they told me that a lady sold the phone to them, came back after 3 months and wanted to buy it back for the same price (they guarantee buybacks for 1 month), they refused to sell it back to her at selling price, so she went and had the phone blocked. They went through the process of unbricking it through the ISPs, but in the meantime also got repair shops to try and fix it... They changed the IMEI number... So I bought the phone, fully functional, did a factory reset, saw that it had OEM unlocked and figured it was the cause for the biometrics not working, turned that on and thats where my mission started. OEM locked, custom firmware detected... Used Odin to flash on stock firmware (from Frija), got the phone functional, but emergency calls only and no cellular. I have tried rooting and using console, I have tried changing it in the EFS file, I have tried changing it via ADB Fastboot, via dialer (does nothing even with Google Dialer Framework V5)) no dice, it keeps the incorrect IMEI. I have looked up the IMEI on IMEI.info and its clean, so I take it they managed to get it unblacklisted, which is why I want to get the original IMEI back.
What I would like help with is does anyone know how exactly I can change the IMEI number on my phone (Rooted with Magisk and TWRP, but eXposed framework is finnicky and doesnt register properly, even through I installed the RIRU (V23) and RIRU EdXposed (Canary, both Sandhook and YAHFA on seperate occasions) packages via Magisk (V21.1 and V8.0.3 for manager) as per instructions.
P.S. I am a student on a tight budget, so I would prefer to do it on the cheap/free and I live in Namibia, so sending it to Samsung isnt quite an option.
Also please let me know if there is any info, logs, etc. I can attach that might help.

Thing is phone got cleared. Original IMEI is clean, which is why I wanna reset it back to it, only problem is they seem to have used a flash-kit to change it in the recovery partitions too (bricked the damn thing when I recovered it (accidentally turned OEM lock on...), I've tried everything down to loading the engineering combination file (interesting though, its android 8.1, which shouldn't actually be possible to do from Android 10) on it and trying through there, no dice. Also asked local repair shops if any of them have a flash kit, none have 1... So I'm stuck at this point, cant even do the normal 'pay a repair shop to fix it for you' method.
I have a samsung a12. It was rooted and I tried to software update it with odin, but failed and led me to factory resetting the phone. After it was done, for some reason it said "IMEI(or MEID) is empty".
I think it has something to do with my sim card? But I have it inside already and tried putting it out and back in but no success... Now I rooted my device again and tried a lot of stuff but nothing worked. Any suggestions?
IMEI has nothing to do with SIM-card:
IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity and helps identify a specific phone across all mobile networks. Think of it as a social security number for your phone, or a fingerprint. It’s a 15-17 digit number that allows networks to identify a phone and get information on what kind of phone it is, including where it was manufactured and its model.
