My display is F.U.B.A.R. how can i utilize adb/fastboot on a MacBook to access it?
If you connect your phone to external screen, shouldn't it work then?

Hi there, My nexus 5 is having screen issues and the screen basically doesn't function due to what I can only assume is a bad connection on the mainboard ( if I press in the right area with the back cover off the screen will flicker and work a tiny bit if I reboot the phone.) My issue is I still have tons of pictures that are very dear to me on the device and need to get them off of it. When I connect it to my pc (windows 7) it connects and shows up as a nexus 5 device but nothing will appear in the folder. Im fairly certain I have the correct drivers installed as well. So how can I get it to connect properly with having basically no access to the screen? Ill even paypal you $5 if your answer works for me, thanks
Did you enable USB debugging? Did you enable MTP when connected to a computer? Is the computer a trusted device?

must have at some point because i connected it to a computer in the past, no idea and i dont know how to, and i dont know.
If the the phone is running a stock ROM and has a lock screen PIN, pattern, or password, you probably need to unlock the phone and select MTP as the USB option in order to have the Nexus 5 files appear in Windows Explorer.
If you have access to another N5, you could swap motherboards, copy the data, and swap motherboards again.
Hi all,
someone bought me a damaged (screen cracked and not usable) phone, and they want to get their photos off the device. But in order for me to even interact with the phone via terminal, or use any recovery app on computer, the adb option must be enabled! now this is where the problem is, cuase how can i enable the adb option when i am flying blind with no screen?!
SO my question is this. Is there a way to connect the phone via the cable and push a command to the phone to enable adb option?
The other problem when connecting the phone is that all that comes up when you connects to the computer is the drive to install the drivers, and not the other drives for the system. SO maybe even a way to send a commnad to the phone to enable data connection so can get access to phone internal memory?
Hi everyone,
Sadly, I broke the screen and digitizer of my beloved OP3T :crying:
The bootloader is unlocked, android is rooted and I have TWRP as recovery.
Unfortunately, usb debugging is disabled as my banking application refused to work when it was enabled.
I don't plan to replace the screen as the A3010 as poor/non-existent 4G support here in europe, I didn't know that when I bought that phone
I would like to use the phone as a media player or home automation system through a DisplayLink adapter, but I have trouble to set it up blindly.
I tried to use this tool but I wasn't able to connect to the phone.
I think I manage to enable usb debugging with adb in twrp recovery but I'm not 100% sure. It keeps saying "state: rejected", I don't know if that means that usb debugging is disabled or that I need to approve my host PC (which I can't without the digitizer working)...
Plan B was to use a DisplayLink adapter...
I installed "DisplayLink Presenter" on my OP3T through the play store but It displays nothing on the external monitor.
Maybe I need to unlock the phone first? But I can't type the pin code without a digitizer...
I'm out of idea so your help would be very welcome :good:

Cédric
TL;DR: Is it possible to install a USB > DisplayLink adapter on a phone with broken screen and digitizer?
Hey,
some days ago, I dropped my phone so that the screen is broken (black) now.
The other functions work fine though, for example I can still connect the phone via USB to the PC and access to the files.
Nevertheless, I have some important files which can only be accessed via Private Mode. But in order to activate the Private Mode, I have to see the display (unless you know another way how to activate Private Mode?).
I think the best way for that would be Screen Mirroring on PC. Unfortunately, Samsung's SideSync does not recognize my phone although it's connected via USB. Probably I have to open SideSync on the phone as well but with a broken screen, this is difficult (Or do you have any ideas?)
I have also checked out other programs like MirrorGo, but this one needs USB debugging enabled on the phone. Again, that is not easy with a broken screen.
So do you have any ideas how I can either mirror the phone on a PC or enable the Private Mode in a different way? (Apart from replacing the whole display for 200€)
Thanks a lot for your help

Are there any solutions out there for people with broken screens to mirror the screen to another device to backup data? The screen itself is totally black. If I can connect it to my PC and view it as a storage drive I could simply copy and paste files but the phone is on Android 9 and therefore I have to "allow" access to the phone when I connect it to a PC. I can't do that with the black screen.
What options do I have to get the phone connected to a PC that won't require the phone screen to authorize the connection?
Any help would be fantastic!
