Question Can I restore the "Data" i backup with twrp of Lineage modded 18.1 to Lineage modded 19? - Motorola Moto G100 / Edge S

Will this work or just break the system? Well, I just realized that the backup was made after my phone can not boot anymore after I changed the system language to a weird named one.So that's need to restore it even it work.Luckily, I have internal storage backup.Although I forgot my second google account password.

Hello,

Can't flash anything in TWRP

Hello everyone,
So today, I decided to flash the Adaptive Brightness Mod.
So what I did, I booted into newest TWRP, I flashed Adaptive Brightness Mod. Hitted reboot.
It didn't boot, so what I did is I flashed DP3 again. The system booted, so I thought "Yea **** that mod".
So I booted into TWRP again and tried to root again using magisk. I got again in a boot loop.
Does anyone have a solution? I really want to have root access.
Friendly regards,
Crewz

Wouldn't that be already backed up in the launcher data?
You shouldn't be that mad because of your homescreen set-up getting wiped! Yesterday I ****ed up encryption after trying to go back to Oxygen OS 5.1.11 from Havoc OS (which has August Security Patch), I couldn't boot the device up and TWRP and all my files were encrypted. After hours of trying and flashing, I had no other choice than formatting all my data. Including internal storage. And because I'm dumb, I didn't do a back up of my data for 3 month, so now I have 3 month old data on my phone.
So don't care about your homescreen set-up, as long as you have your pictures/music/data on the phone.
Btw, I'm not sure if I have a solution for you, but can you explain what exactly is the issue now? So you can boot up in the system without magisk installed but with it, you can't?

You can't flash Magisk 16.7 from TWRP. It causes issues more times then not. You need to flash TWRP 16.4 (1642) then let the Magisk manager update to 16.7.
Magisk 16.7 will often give you an error on boot which looks like a vendor mismatch message. I stick with 16.4.
the reason it fails only with root is because the mod he installed is still installed. It only turns on when you have root. remove mod and problem fixed. also, reflashing rom does not remove magisk mods. only uninstalling mod will fix this or a full format.
the mod lives in /data.

TWRP encryption problem

After i wanted to install Android P, i got a bootloop. so i wanted to go to twrp but now my files are encrypted and twrp is not asking for a pin or pattern so i can't decrypt my internal storage files.
Now the biggest problem is that i just came back from a family weekend and i made a lot of pictures, witch i can't acces now, and i really want them back.
Now i can't install a new os or anything ...
Can someone please help me! i'm really despirate
(sorry for my bad english)
Try downgrading twrp , night get it to ask for pin
downgrading is never the answer. In fact, that will cause this problem to happen. Now i must ask, are you temp booting twrp or is twrp installed to phone.
I got this when I temp booted the mtp enabled twrp the other day, although it still asked for my passcode and said description was successful. When I rebooted the installed (official) twrp it all came back....

Now i am booting from temp twrp, before that i got the latest twrp installed
Bringing this back up... Did booting from temp twrp work? Ran into the same issue.
Temp boot and use the usb c to pull ur data from the device to a computer. After that you can wipe and start over. Unbricking guide available in the help section
Having the same issue. If I boot using fastboot TWRP I'm able to decrypt data. I did that and flashed stock OOS and the same TWRP version (BluSpark) that was used in the fastboot. But the folders are still encrypted. It's weird how a fastboot can decrypt it but a regular recovery boot can't. Is there any alternatives available?
I'm in the process of backing up my data before I officially bite the bullet.

Omg Official TWRP is HERE!

Maintained by Dees_Troy, This build of TWRP will (probably) only work with devices using Full Disk Encryption (FDE) and may not work with devices that have been converted to File Based Encryption (FBE). FBE support may be added at a later date.
Full details can be view by their official website https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomipocophonef1.html
Or download the official TWRP app on the playstore
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year people! Happy Flashing!

Does that mean we don't need to format data? Getting a Poco soon and all rooting guides say you need to format data.

Yes, works very well, no need to format, and has sd support too.
Anyway, if it's a new phone, like mine, format as many times as you want lol. Which I did while trying out other TWRPs, and I still get them asking me for a password that was non-existent. My first time after so many phones where a TWRP was asking me for a password (which caught me offguard), and all Poco F1 TWRPs except this official one.
I have settled with this TWRP first, lost some time with the rest, my main goal was to root anyway, TWRP upgrade can come later. I do hope nandroid backup and restore is good as I have not tried it yet (just backup which went fine). Will try restore soon. I have Titanium and Migrate working anyway, and Nandroid Manager too.

I don't know how I missed this, this one is also good. I just flashed it just to see and it's ok too.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-3-decryption-t3853004
Ok, I tried to restore the Nandroid backup from official TWRP, and this is exactly what happened to me :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/help/nandroid-backup-fail-t3887678
Restore gets completed, I reboot to system, it goes into fastboot mode. Tried again, same.
So I reinstalled latest MIUI ROM Global beta, which I prefer, and run Magisk again, and restored only Data partition. This worked and it rebooted into system, without me losing my data. I also didn't bother to remove my pin while taking the backup a suggested in another thread, and it's ok, no problem.
So still ok to backup, but can only restore data. Always have a copy of the ROM too in your SD Card or even internal storage to flash when needed, as well as Magisk if you use it.
As for the unofficial TWRP in my link above, restore was worse. It ended up in "extractTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255".

Guy's Nandroid will working fine, if you save the right partitions!
Use system and vendor image! Instead of system and vendor.
Don't forget data as it is.

Yes, I just tried 2WildFirE's solution, and it works perfectly. And from this article, system image and vendor image are apparently even better than normal system/vendor.
https://twrp.me/faq/whattobackup.html
So, no more problem with Nandroid and I can use this official TWRP or the other one. I won't use a custom ROM for my Pocophone as I like MIUI, so it's just fine for me.
As for the wrong date of Nandroid, it's ok, I enter my own file name backup anyway.

T-Mobile Root

Has anyone successfully rooted their T-Mobile variant as of yet? My bootloader unlock token should be available in a couple hours, and I'm trying to decide which is the best method. I was thinking of going with patching the boot.img myself, however I can't find a full ROM zip of 9.5.5 (which I'm on now). The next choice is obviously TWRP...I'm just hesitant because of the encryption issue. Does anyone know if formatting data and then moving files back to my internal storage will allow me to decrypt, just as it did on the 6T? Thanks in advance

Mine should be here today. And I'll tell you my plan.
I'm going to try to flash twrp and try to get the stock img files from the unmodified slot. Then I will feel safe. To do anything
Well, I did it! I unlocked my bootloader and flashed TWRP! I then formatted data, and transferred the TWRP installer and Magisk to internal storage. I flashed both, and rebooted to recovery. Both files were still there, and did not get encrypted! Now, my wifi and sound seem to be broken, but I did see something about that somewhere else...now to find it, hah!

It did! About 10 minutes later than the time I applied for it Now, I rebooted to recovery again, and now I don't see my files anymore I guess formatting data DIDN'T fix decryption. Now to get my sound and wifi working again...
Figured I'd try formatting data a second time. It's worked for me on the 6T in the past
I think your going to need the boot.img to restore WiFi and sound.

Try flashing this patched 9.5.5 boot.img . The boot image has to match the same version your currently on. From your screen shots it looks like your on 9.5.5 so it might be your best bet in restoring your Sound and Wifi.

Question Full encryption on rooted (but no TWRP) device

Hello all, help me making sure I understand the vbmeta_disabler correctly.
If I flash an original stock rom patched with Magisk, but don't flash TWRP, does full disk encryption work ok?
Even if I install Magisk and have root, does full encryption work ok?
I'm assuming that you can use the system settings to activate it.
Thanks
