Hallo everyone!
I am new to this board and i have a few questions.
I recently bought a Samsung i5800 with android 2.1. Unfortunately i have problems with the pin requesting (i read in forum, that this is a known issue, my provider seems to use a modified firmware, that causes the problems).
So i want to update my mobile because people in forums say, that this is fixed by updating to samsung original 2.1 or 2.2
However I read, that I should make a backup, before I do so.
So please can you give me instructions how I should start(with links)?
And do I need to root my phone? to do upgrading or to install an official firmware?
And how do I unlock my mobile for all sim cards?(In my Country Austria it's absolutely legal to unlock the sim card).
And shall i first root it and then upgrade or upgrade and root it?
And how do i do a backup without rooting?(I want to have this current system as backup, for warranty issues).
If possible, i want to do an upgrade without rooting.
Thanks for the answeres.

thanks slumpolo
I read this, but i dont know where to start ...
shall i root it first?(do I need to?) or shall i upgrade it first?
and there is no instruction for backups...
ok
I began with downloadin odin a.s.o
now i just noticed, that the download mode (vol- + home+ power when you turn the mobile off) is not working...
I bought my mobile 2 weeks ago from telering.
Is there a way to enable this download mode?(maybe as root?)
ok
now i rootet it, however i have the problem, that i cannot back it up
i tried clockwork recovery... with rom manager
I go to recover system, then it reboots and then i come to the recovery menu but there is no option for recovery...
is there any other way to recover a samsung galaxy 3 i5800?
Hello guys, I post here because I don't have access to dev forum.
The case is that I have Nexus S 2.3.4 GRJ22, and I have some questions:
1) Can I root the nexus s so in the future I can unroot it like factory (for example to sell it to another person, or if I need warranty) and nobody knows it was rooted sometime?
2) Can I install [ROM] Nexbreed S12 (5/4/12) (AOSP/GRJ22) without unprotecting bootloader, to preserve warranty?
3) Is the data preserved when installing the custom ROM or enabling bootloader?

your answers are in nexus s development forum.. for to read you mustnĀ“t stay registered
1-you can root and unroot your device when you want, mate.
2-ask this in the Q&A of nexus s paragraph
3.- for preserve de data use titanium backup apk (download form market) and google sync (automatically) stores your phone numbers... calls of the dialer, and downloaded apks of your previous rom, after installing new rom automatically restores it.. but the rest you must to restore it manually with titanium backup.
cheers and sorry for my poor english
My phone is Samsung Admire carrier is MetroPCS. The phone is rooted. I want to have a copy of the factory mod because I am somewhat of a Noobie when it comes to custom roms. Is there anyway to make a backup from my phone before I flash it to another or is there a image of the original out there somewhere for me to download. Any suggestions would be benifical.
OK on May 7 I upgraded my Samsung galaxy s4 i545 to lollipop the official firmware on sammobil.com.
but then my messenging app won't send and my phone glitches and it's annoying I tried downgradin back to firmware 4.4.2 NK1 but couldn't I kept getting an error message on odin saying write fail and authentication fail.I couldn't find a way to root,so I can use flashfire to downgrade,if anyone can help me I will be greatfull.
Also the root process I'm not using no Chinese apps no kingoroot.com or anything that can look into my phones information.
Please make sure you clear data, clear cache and dalvik cache and then flash the ROM!! I also had same problem, clearing data and other things saved my day

MISTAKE
Hello,
I have an LG G4 H815 with android 6.0 software version v20p-EUR-XX
I have sent this phone in for repair a long time ago and of course because of protocols they deleted my entire data. I've been wanting to recover some of the images that were on my device storage (screenshots are almost always saved on the device storage). I've tried numerous softwares such as dr fone in which it will tell me their root service has failed and that I need actual root acces to recover files.
A couple years ago I succesfully recovered files from my Samsung Galaxy ace, however this phone I already had rooted.
So I have a few questions now;
1. I have ended up using the device numerous months after, how much will this reduce my chance of even recovering the lost files from before the formatting?
2. To root the phone I need to unlock the bootloader, however this also deletes all files on my phone. Will rooting even give me my lost files back as by that time my phone will be formatted TWICE?
3. Does anyone know (prefferbly experience with the same phone as I do) a software that might be able to recover the files without full root acces?

Data recovery isn't very reliable on android.
Try the EaseUS data recovery software on Windows.
If the space where the data was stored has been deleted and then overwritten since the deletion, it's gone, if the space has been formatted, its gone.
