I'm currently developing an android app that needs to communicate with a device over Bluetooth, so using the emulator is out of the question.
What is the best android device to buy for testing/development, if you don't have any specific recommendations what are the things to look out for? Coming from the iOS world here.
Any help would be appreciated

Any device will do the job, there is no need to use a specific device. Apps are apps and they work on all phones, provided that the app is compatible with the android version on the device. Some apps require at least a certain version of android but that should not be an issue as long as you are using a relatively recently released device and if you are working with current android versions.

This was their response to my questions related to the Viewsonic G-Tablet:
----------------------------------------
Hi,
Thank you for your reply. After further research, according to our records, the device that you are using is not supported for use with Android Market at this time.
The Android operating system is open source, which means that any device manufacturer is free to use Android on its devices. However, Android Market is an application created by Google that is only made available to devices that pass Google’s compatibility requirements. In addition, manufacturers must obtain a license from Google in order to install Android Market on their devices.
For more information about the Android Compatibility Program, please visit source.android.com/compatibility/index.html
If you have any further questions, I recommend contacting the manufacturer of your device directly.
If I can assist you further, please let me know.
Regards,
Jenna

What did you ask and did you really expect support on an unsupported device?
Sorta like taking a netbook with snow leopard to the genius bar and asking for help with iTunes.

Wow.. you found this site, you found this forum, and you missed the million different posts for Market Fix, Full Android Market, etc...
You need to do some work to get the market working on the GTab. Out of the box it's not supported. It's likely never going to be officially supported unless by some miracle we get a honeycomb update from Viewsonic.
In the meantime, it is pretty easy to get access. Just don't ask Google for help doing it.
And, there's always the Amazon market, which works just swell...

Someone wanted to keep you away from android development.
You can get Android Studio for free, and it is amazing as well: developer.android.com/sdk/installing/studio.html
To get it working you will also have to download and install Android SDK (free as well): developer.android.com/sdk/index.html?hl=sk#download (click on "USE EXISTING IDE" to skip downloading Eclipse)
Finally, to publish Android App you need to pay $25 once, and publish as many products as you want (-30% from sales to Play Store).
This
https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html?hl=sk#download
Select 32 bit or 64 bit and download...(It has better features than Android studio , and product from original devs) IT IS FREE

ohh! Really thank you Man! Thats what I was looking for !
Hi guys, i've been looking online all morning for a way to find a proper emulator that will help me use ios apps on android. i am looking specifically in using imovie which has the automatic function to create a small video with effects and everything. I've seen many people talking about iEMU but also other people saying it's been taken down and the source should not be trusted. Was just wondering is there a walk around to this. or not possible at all? The phone is not rooted and i prefer not to root it anytime soon. If it could be done on rooted phone only it's ok tho because i have a rooted s6 edge. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks
Use HTC Zoe instead. Does a great job in creating videos.
iOS emulator for Android
You can easily find many advertisement, who say that, this and that iOS emulator is best for you. But still iEMU and Cider APK are the best iOS emulators in it's class with the fearture: they provides you parallel interface to iOS device, authorize you to download and easy run iOS applications on your Android device. Where there is pro, it is also cons.
There are few limitations related to storage capacity, Android versions and compatibility of these apps in your Android device. For information related to these cons you can check PruhTech.com I am sure it will help you out to clear your doubts
Thanks
Hi,
I'm working on an Android Based Robot, and I have difficulties to find answer to my questions.
I would like to use a SoC (system on chip, basicly creating a device from the chip) with android to manage all the controle.
I'm wondering what are the constraintes and limitations for using the android system.
(for instance can I use all the services such as android voice recognition ? Is there any declaration/fee to use android as OS ?)
I have been looking online already but it seems I'm not using the right keywords.
And it seems really uneasy to contact people from android.
Do you have any idea where should I look ?
Also if you have experience/answer, I would be happy to hear it.
Best Regards;
Hi !
We appreciate your enthusiastic attitude but unfortunately there is not much help here on building devices , xda is about software development basically rather than hardware
Some hint can be found here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-university
https://www.xda-developers.com/xda-university-building-your-own-android-rom/
More help might come from Google and other enthusiasts
Good luck !
Thank you for your answer,
concerning android I will have a look to the custom builds tuto,
concerning the feature I will post specific questions for each topic.
I want to get an app created that will work on both Android and iOS.
I'm new, and THIS looks to be a Magnificent forum for Android stuff,
but I need the app to work on Both systems.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
