Hi all, I'm a very unhappy bunny right now, bought the P20 last year on Vodafone UK. All was fab, loved it. I received an OTA pie update and now many of my apps aggressively closer in the background if they're off focus. Particularity hard for browser pages with a login. The app reloads and I have to log in, again, and again. It has rendered it effectively unable to multi task. (Much like me really). Even as I type this I'm afraid of losing the screen as I received WhatsApp messages. What am I doing wrong? It must be met since I can find no other instances of my problem anywhere.
Cheers
Mark
Anyone able to offer any advice here?
have the same problem. Multitasking on 8.1 worked like a charm, now with pie it sometimes closes my Spotify even if there are 2gigs of ram available
Same problem here, haven't found any solution to this problem yet
I changed the App-Starts to manuell and back to automatic and it seams to work for now...
That's simple. You can control your app activity simply by using Battery Optimizer and set permissions from automatic to manual. Also in System Settings type "ignore battery optimization" you will see a list of apps that are allowed to be ignored while the phone falls asleep or being optimized and you can add more apps if you need to and allow them to be ignored.

It works for a few hours than the systems ignors my stettings and kills the background apps again. In 8.1 everything worked fine

Might be a bug, needs to check. I'm still waiting for EMUI9 on my device.

I'm think about rolling back to 8.1
Rolled back to 8.1 everythings fine now. Hopefully Huawei will fix this problem with pie
Well to tell you the truth guys I just have received an update to EMUI 9 and I don't face any issues at all, I have apps which I need to be running in the background and as I stated before I just moved the badges in App launch section from Automatic to Manual and it's all ok as on EMUI 8.
It seems after about 48 hours of up time. The phone begins to lag extremely bad. Mostly when I first start typing it'll take 3 seconds or so for it to finally catch up to my typing. This happens Everytime I use the keyboard after those 48 hours or so. Apps seem to open very slowly as well after this time. A reboot seems to fix it and it runs fine after that until then. I've tried about 3 different kernels and face the problems with everyone. Not seeing any odd battery drain either. Just curious as to what would be causing this. Only module I have installed is google framework (for the dialer)
Doze.

Hmm really. I'll have to give that a shot ?
EDIT
I don't see Gboard even under the battery optimization. Doesn't give me an option to remove it from optimization. Pretty much all apps run slower around the 48 hour mark it's not just Gboard. But that's weird it's most annoying.

Could be an app leaking memory (not properly returning it when it's no longer needed). Have you added any new apps recently? Try freezing them.
Or perhaps a bad app update?

I'll have to check apps here and there cause I have a pretty long app list but nothing that would run in the background much. But nothing new that I'm aware of. Not seeing my memory usage maxed out or anything. I'll have to take another look after my phone's been on for 48 hours.

Show system apps from menu
Also if you have Alot of apps installed you can try to turn off sync
This should take Alot of strain away from apps trying to update/check for updates
Stuff like snapchat, Facebook, and other apps with frequent updates.
If you have magisk/EdXposed installed it could be these as well since they are trying to force the system to change code.
It kinda depends on what you have done to your device, if it's stock then sync or doze could be the problem

Sync isn't on for most apps I have. Everything is stock other than having magisk installed. Like I said oddly battery life and phone speed are great until 48h mark or so. I'll just have to work on narrowing it down from apps and stuff. Gboard isn't under any optimization settings. I can't remove it even with system apps enabled. Because if it's just cause the app is being dozed I would like to remove it.

Sync is either on or off. I don't believe you can select certain apps, atleast I'm not aware of this as I just turn it off unless I need updates
Is the battery dead or is it being charged over the 48h.
If the apps being forced to sleep it has the tendency to lag and be unstable (stuff I noticed with my s5 before this phone)
Have you tried another keyboard? (I use SwiftKey and have had no lagging issues unless I messed with stand by apps via developer options)

Haven't tried another keyboard like I said it's not just the keyboard the apps also seem slow but the keyboard is also slow. The battery is fully charged at the time of the slowness. Sync I see for multiple apps overall.

This is what I guess.
Some rouge app.
I'm running 10.3.0 and my phone is stable. No slowdowns and no reboots.
It will stay up for weeks if I let it.
Normally I reboot after a few days, just because.

Does clash of clans, cod mobile, or old school runescape run on your device? Or do you get blackscreen?
Seems it only happened on the new 10.3.0 / 10.0.3
It use to run fine on older 10.0.0
I think it could be the "backup" since it broke these apks into parts.
Its kinda annoying because I haven't been able to use these in over a month.
And OnePlus is in hiding due to the cornavirus.
It is the gboard sometimes and it usually starts to happen wit whatsapp and Instagram
It's the gboard it's hide arrow is sometimes visible even if you're not using now I don't know if this happens on your phone but using whatsapp or Instagram(nightly) whenever you go to Home screen from typing a message there's a small arrow that will appear at left bottom that collapses the keyboard. also there's a delay in status bar pull down sometimes whenever the problem latter mentioned starts to occur.

Just Remove that magisk module and tell the result ..
Anyone else have funky behavior with the notification shade? Trying to figure out what triggers it. Rebooting phone resets it, but breaks as soon as you open YouTube. I have premium and floating window and background play are enabled, I've noticed floating window can be buggy (doesn't always show video). Any ideas?
Using TMobile version converted to international. No other bugs to speak of. On lastest magisk with adaway installed.
Edit: seems to have something to do with adaway. Disabled it and issue went away. Funky!
Edit 2: came back even with adaway disabled. Maybe it has to do with the system putting apps in the shade to sleep? Seems to happen randomly after a few hours or so
Edit 3: beta 3 fixed it, woo!
Yeah got the same thing here, seems to be when I have a media control notification there. Its still showing Play music notification even though its been closed.
As noted a reboot does fix it.

I'm using 8/256gb MIUI 12.5.1.0 global version and I have some issues.
I can't upload anything anywhere from gallery or any file manager. It's really annoying. I would attach a video I've recorded here, but I can't.
I'm having more and more problems with this phone. Photos don't save to gallery, so I had to use Google photos and some third party file managers to do the job. It forces dark mode on every app when you have dark mode turned on, even when it sometimes looks ****ty and I had to turn off messenger heads, cause they disabled them and instead, now they look square and don't work like they're supposed to, so I had to turn them off. I've created this account just to ask this, cause I felt like you people might know what's going on. Thanks in advance.
Looks Mike 12.5.1 is a public beta (have it on my phone as well)... File a feedback report to POCO, post some comments at Play Store... and wait for upcoming update of MIUI or switch to some custom ROM.
Edit: after turning on MIUI optimization, most of the problems are fixed.

Same device, same issue. I had it on MIUI 12.0.5 and have it now on 12.5.1 (both debloated). It believed it was because of the debloating but reading this it might be a problem only on the 8/256 GB version?
I can share from MIUI gallery but not from any Messenger (WhatsApp) or Edit App (Snapseed). I always need to save the pic/video and only then I can share. So annoying.

Had to look this up (was not sure if debloating killed it). Had to reenable the developer settings again by tapping multiple times on the MIUI version in the About 12.5.1 section.
Then Phone settings > Additional settings > Developer options > Turn on MIUI optimization (was off)
So I enabled that and so far checking it it really seems to solve the issue. Weird that this is causing such file sharing problems.
So are you guys saying that it may be a better idea to buy the 128/6 version because the 256/8 is really buggy?
It's MIUI that is buggy. 256/8 is fine.
Other custom ROMs do better.
MIUI optimizations is just crap.
Firstly, someone at xiaomi was drunk who chose a name like this.
If its turned on, i have experienced, few apks fail to install.
Once its turned off, you can install those apps, but then whole of UI is messed up(like circle icons go square, and dont know what else..)
So basically miui chose to hinder people of turning optimizations off, by deliberately introducing these kind of wiered issues.
I just cant handle miui .. just cant.
No one should use MIUI.. its just a piece of CRAP.

Yeah. I turned off MiUi optimization now my notification shade is all buggy and icons are square which makes it awful to look at. Also, notification of the same app won't bundle. I even tried turning on miui optimization back on, didn't fix it.

Lately ever since the last update, my Poco x3 phone, which I purchased in January of 2020/2021 has been acting rather weirdly.
Before the update or patch I could easily edit my documents, now it won't let me write anything or it double collies the text/writing or puts it in odd places that I didn't command it to do so, this is really annoying because it means my work turns into Gibberish.
I've tried everything from a hard reset to uninstalling then reinstalling my apps, but nothing works.
I even tried to o email Poco about this problem but all my emails suddenly vanished once I seid send like they never existed, also my work has been mysteriously disappeared like I deleted it when I know I didn't.
Anyone else having these problems?
If so why, and is there an easy fix?.
Yours sincerely

Best fast easy fix is get a custom rom and get rid of miui...
Now on a serious not, you may need to wait for next update to fix it or take the phone to a xiaomi service center for them to try fix it...
Hi everyone,
My Poco X3 Pro switched to MIUI 13 and Android 12 a few days ago, and apart from some slowliness in the first few days, it's working fine now.
However, I've noticed that some applications require my pressing the Home button twice before actually closing, and it's annoying as all hell.
It didn't happen when I was still on MIUI 12 and Android 11, so I presume it's a new setting in Android 12 and/or MIUI 13 that triggers that.
Anyone know anything about that?

my phone is also running on miui13/android12, i do not have this problem .... can you give names of apps so i can check these specific apps to see if i encounter same problem ?
Hi,
Sorry it took me so long to reply, it's been a busy couple weeks. The apps in question come from the same vendor, which is the public transportation agency in my home city in the South of France, Montpellier:
This one gives all kinds of info on schedules, routes, etc... : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.micropole.android.tam&gl=US
This one lets you buy dematerialized tickets: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tam_way.mobiletickets&gl=US
I'm guessing the devs have purposefully set the apps not to close on the first tap, so they would stay loaded in memory, perhaps, but it's annoying as all hell, and I've noticed the same behavior in other apps, though I don't remember which ones.
Apparently, adding some snippet of code can make the app act this way, but it didn't happen with those apps when I was still on Android 11 so maybe there's a setting in the OS that allows that.
Hmm I also experience this on miui 13 that I need to press recent button to go back in app drawer. weird.
I think it's a JavaScript code that makes the app act that way. I found a post in Stack Overflow about it. I can't find it at the moment but there's a way to make apps act like that. Strange thing is, both apps haven't been updated since I upgrade to MIUI 13, which means there's something in MIUI 13 that wasn't there in MIUI 12.x that makes those app act this way, and I can't for the life of me figure out what it is.
One of the games i play started requiring two press's of the home button to quit after i turned on the game turbo feature on my xiaomi 12 pro. It was in the security app. Maybe the apps you use got picked up as games by your phone I don't know.

THAT'S IT...!!! I suppose the apps activated Turbo Mode because I never did, or maybe it activated on its own when MIUI was upgraded, I don't know, but I just deactivated it and those apps stopped acting up!
You, Sir, are a genius!
Glad I could help
