The app you are trying to install is trying to use permissions/functionality that is already dedicated to your Google Search app and the Google Assistant which are both system apps, disabling or deleting the Google Search system app or Google Assistant will break things and cause issues that will require reflashing the stock firmware which would put you right back where you started and it would remove root in the process of reflashing the firmware.
If you are trying to install the app as a system app, stop trying to install it in system, try installing it as a user app and then use a root explorer app with root permissions to move the app from your data partition to the system partition, then reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache(DO NOT factory reset) then reboot the device and see if things work correctly.

I'll give this a try, but it won't let me install at all, my device is Android go edition and for some reason, it only lets me install the fo version of Google . Trying to find a way around that.

[Q] SuperSU update fails

I know there's a dedicated SuperSU thread but being a newbie on this forum I cannot post there.
I have Teclast P78HD tablet (A31 and Android 4.4.2) which I have rooted using Kingo. There is no custom recovery available for this model, AFAIK, so zip option is out of question I think. Kingo installed SuperSU 1.9.1 which does work, but as Play offered an update I accepted it, got 2.0.1. A big mistake.
The system still works, it prompts to grant root access when an app needs it. But I cannot run the SuperSU app anymore, it asks if I want to update. If I select yes after a while it fails and tells to reboot and try again. Which of course gives the same result. Selecting cancel closes the program. Uninstalling the update returns the system back to working 1.9.1. I have tried also Settings / Cleanup / Reinstall and Settings / Cleanup / Switch superuser app but both fail similarily. I also tried to replace the APK in /system/app using ES File Explorer but this method also makes an app to ask for update.
Any ideas how to update SuperSU on this tablet? Maybe I should just forget the problem and use the current one, but it is somewhat old and the changelog lists many, many changes. Plus Play keeps offering an update which is somewhat annoying

uninstall supersu and try this one. some people have issues with supersu and have found superuser to work correctly.

Is there any way to install an app in twrp recovery mode?

Earlier today I successfully rooted my phone and uninstalled a bunch of bloatware. Foolishly, I also uninstalled the Samsung keyboard (figuring I only use the Swype keyboard) which I now suspect it is used to enter my pin when turning the phone on. Now I can't get past the pin entry because the keypad does not show up. Is there anyway to reinstall the app in this situation?

You can get a copy of the .apk file and then boot to TWRP, then use adb to sideload the .apk to /system/app or /system/priv-app (wherever it was at before you deleted it).
Or you can reflash your stock firmware or custom ROM if you're using one.

I flash magisk.zip but it is normal app not system app
Magisk is a 3rd-party-app. Take note that a system-app is necessary part of Android OS. And Magisk isn't.

Not quite right, when a 3rd party user app is installed or pushed to system, it then becomes a system app. The term "system app" refers to any app that is in the system partition, it has nothing to do with whether the app is a necessary part of the OS. Stock system apps, or, at least, "some" of them can be considered to be necessary parts of the OS but this isn't completely true because a lot of devices come pre-installed with non essential bloatware apps in the system partition. These non essential bloatware apps can be removed via root or by adb on non rooted devices because they are not necessary parts of the system.
For me a "system app" is - as already mentioned - an app that comes pre-installed in Android ROM's one of the partitions /system/app or /product/app or /product/overlay or /vendor/app, is a "system app" an app that is intended for the functioning of the Android device.
Your admission to this view of mine does not change my opinion.
private app is also a system app but seems to be an add-on. and i flashed the zip but it was not set as a system app, it seems the zip is not related to install like the system in twrp, and twrp mounted the system but couldn't delete any folder in. rooted but so bad!

Delete "Google Maps" stub

I've got my shiny new Pixel 4 XL up and running on the stock ROM after coming from a worn out Note 8. Everything is better except the new version of GMaps. I was using 9.47.x and this new 10.x.x is just awful. I want to completely delete the stub from the system so I can install the older version. I've tried several root uninstallers, even using the adb shell command. It always "uninstalls" but the stub is still there. Therefore the older APK refuses to install. I've even gone into the root/product/app/maps folder to try manually. It doesn't work, nor does changing any permissions. I have a feeling someone is going to tell me that this can't be done without installing a custom rom.
I'm guessing the culprit is not being able to remount the system with read/write permissions on newer versions of android. Unless there's something I'm missing.

It may be having a conflict with cached data from the version that you installed, removing the cached data might allow you to install the version you want.
Uninstall the app from system partition, then, power the device off, then, boot into recovery and wipe the cache partition, then reboot into system and try installing the older version.

That is right where the issue is. I can get it to the point from being a 66mb APK down to 200k where the system; or play store, even recognizes it's installed. I need to get write access to the system partition to get rid of the "Maps" folder persistently living in the root apps folder. If that can be done on 10 in stock recovery then I've never done that. Mind you I'm rooted on Magisk with the flashed boot image, no TWRP yet.

After flashing the Magisk patched boot.img, did you install the Magisk Manager app? Magisk Manager is what is used to grant root permissions to your other apps. There is more to it than just flashing the boot.img.
You can also use adb shell to remove the app as demonstrated in the second method described in the link below.

So I tried what you suggested, I got the same result. Maps uninstalls but still lives in the root directory. Not being an ADB expert I went into adb shell super user mode and tried the the rm command to delete the folder, also the remount system command. Neither of those worked. Trying to install the older APK results in "App not installed"
And yes I have Magisk manager. It installed the latest version automatically. I use RootExplorer and it has superuser permissions.
Would something like this work? I'm not completely clear on how this works.

You are getting the prompt "can not find root helper" because there is data from that app left behind, when you boot your device and the system sees the data from that app but it doesn't see the app and that confuses the system because it thinks the app should still be there. The solution to this issue is to boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache then reboot.
Always remember this, anytime you add or remove system apps, you must boot to recovery and wipe the cache partition and dalvik cache then reboot, if you don't, it will make things buggy. The reason why is because it causes conflicts within the system because there is data there that shouldn't be or because there is no data there that should be.

Removing YouTube from system?

Hey guys, so I tried using a system app remover to remove YouTube. On reboot, phone froze, crippled my OS. No biggie, just reflashed my rom. My question is, is freezing YouTube with titanium backup a better option or will that likely yield the same result? Making me just have to reflash my rom again anyway.
I'm running OOS beta 9.
xxx-No Limits works at doing this. As well as replacing it with You Tube vanced if wanted. I prefer NewPipe as my replacement.
Use magisk module Debloater(Terminal Emulator) to remove any system app, you also need to install magisk module busy box and Termux from the playstore.
If you want to install YouTube Vanced you can only disable official YouTube app and install non root Vanced and it will work without problems, root methods will need to disable apk verification, and magisk modules will overwrite official app so, the playstore Will update it even if you deactivated automatic updates.

Navigate to /System > /System > /App or /Pri-App Some apps are moved into /System > /System > /Product > /App or /Priv-App
With a file manager with root capabilities or just file manager in TWRP don't forget to mount system first. There you can delete any pre installed apps you want just careful what you remove as could lead to issue or loss of features etc. The tomato debloat script or xXx module should have a list of safe to remove apps.
twrp file manager has been the best. Just follow the confusing steps below
Reboot to twrp
Go to mount
Mount system and vendor
Go back to main page
Go to file manager
/system/system/
App
Data
Priv-app
Vendor
Product
there are several folders with these apps installed into so you'll have to go around and delete them
Only thing it doesn't delete is India.img (because oneplus has been sucking Indias dxxx while letting everywhere else struggle)
