Hi!
As @gj86 is stopping support for hlte* I'll be taking care of it from now on.
I'm also maintaining some other devices on crDroid, so I'm going to try to keep the common parts standard and not made specific Note 3 changes that may break other devices, that's why I'll be starting from a clean tree and not follow the one @gj86 has.
I only own the SM-N9005, so I'll need help on testing the other models.
Please let me know the problems that appear after switching from @gj86 builds (last one on December 2021) so we can try to find solutions for them.
I'll start uploading new builds with version 7.14 of crDroid starting on January 2022.
Regards.

The old thread by @gj86 is still available here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...id-7-x-for-samsung-galaxy-note-3-hlte.4284449 and may have important info.
Please note that @gj86 won't give further support for Note 3 like he has expressed on his thread, so, if you have a problem with the device from 7.14 and later versions, please comment them here so that we can address it properly. I'll be the responsable for those builds from now on. Of course I hope @gj86 can give me a hand when needed, as he knows the device far more than I do, but let's leave that as a last resort ;-)
I thank @gj86 for his great support for the device till now and I hope I won't breat it too bad on the new builds.
I also won't be building version 6 anymore, so if you are on version 6, you better update to version 7 once we stabilize the new 7.X series built by me. I'm sure the fellow testers will start posting how things are going as soon as we have the new builds around.
I hope we have 7.14 with January patches ready soon.
Regards.

thanks for the support...this phone is eternal...

Many thanks! Can't wait to flash this.

Thank you for continuing the journey with us

This phone won't die. Thanks for your commitment to the old beast. After the EOL announcement I was 100% it was the end of custom roms for note 3.
While I could get a new phone, and probably will soon (a bit scared of note 3 reliability at it's age), it just keeps doing what I need it to do. Still my daily driver although I'm on A7.1.2 for better speed. Can't wait to try out newer versions again.
When I get a new phone I'll hold onto my n9005 for assisting with testing.
Again thanks for not letting it die.

Cool !! Thanks for keeping the Note 3 alive mate!!

can you add the model SM-N9002 (china dualsim) to support? this phone could not charge the battery after flashing the lineage os, there was a file can fix the usb problem, but it only works on android 8 & 9

I can confirm i got build number RQ3A.211001.001 working on the SM-N900T (usa Tmobile)with full service ( Bluetooth, wifi, cell, mobile data,GPS) and fast enough to keep up with my lg astro 5. I did have a system ui crash on first boot and I noticed i still seem to have a issue with power drain i have it plugged in completing setup and its still dropping its like the phone isn't charging the battery but using the ac power will try magisk later

When will A12 CrDroid 8.x become your focus over 7.x?

Hey yall look as you can see i do have it running on a samsung galaxy note 3 SM-N900T with magisk but as you can see i seem to have a issue with power drain the last picture is on a fresh install and i cant turn off fast charge either i've cold chagred hot chagred i even tried a device reset where you pull the battey and with battery out press and hold the power button for 1min put the battery back, charger cords, and charger ports it will jump up to 1800ma for like a .5 of a min then back to 350ma i've tested all the different battery states but still end up with a dead phone Please Help I love this phone

Thx for keeping my Note3 alive. Checking for 7.14 every day! Will my 7.13 crdroid discover 7.14 via OTA or not?

You should be able to get it via OTA without problem whenever we have it, I hope to have it during the weekend, I'm starting to build right now.

A like is not enaugh! I must put it in words too! So, thank you so much bestiatester for your hard work and dedication! Chapeau!

Aah...super! Take your time! Better an error free release than an erroneous one! .

Well, thanks, like I said before... We'll be needing testers here
I'll be testing hlte on my devices but when I test it I'll upload it and then you'll have to test it, and the other hltes... well, those I cannot even test, so it's up to you.

When hltechn is available i will for sure flash it and do basic tests, unfortunately i'm very limited in time these days to do deep tests as i used to do. Hopefully some other hltechn tester will come forward to support.

So... there it goes, all 4 device builds for 7.14 uploaded, hope you enjoy it.

Will you let me compile at least one ROM? You are building every existing ROM
Will test it now.
Thanks for your hard work, and if you plan to compile halogenOS then include me on that one, coz I'm thinking to build it for Honor 8, and I would like to collaborate on that one.
Edit: nope doesn't work..
Will Android pay work on this rom? Is this room not rooted?
Susbstratum is not working.

It's been a long time, but I'm gonna see if i can get back into the XDA/Devices game. We got some work to do still to get us a killer tree, but we're off to a good start. This build is rock solid stable and has been my DD for months. We still gotta bring in some stuff like EAS but we'll get to that. Any feature requests, compliments, complaints, or general trolling, feel free to post up.
Thanks!

Thank you for the kind words. Honestly, the OP3 is a pretty mature device at this point. I've still got some work to do on the device tree, EAS for example, but it's stable. For the most part, I'll be doing platform development writing fresh original features. At the same time, i haven't been too active on XDA but I thought I'd get my feet wet again by opening a device thread.
Nice. Looking forward to the developments

Just because a OEM think the device is to old doesn't mean it dying. Just look at the Samsung Galaxy S2. This device is still getting love by the Community with recent TWRP and 8.1 ROMs.
Anyways: It's always nice to see a new ROM here - Time to flash
Thanks for this ROM!

Rush, what have you done to the ROM that makes phone calls sound louder? I've used your ROM since the last update, but now I'm on pixel experience. I can tell that there is a difference in the sound quality from Invictrix rom to other ROMs

doesn't support flashing on encrypted devices ;(
How does it compare to ResurrectionRemix? I'm eyeballing alternatives to RR that sport signature spoofing and CarbonROM seems like a good candidate.

I played with this ROM for 30mins or so earlier when I was choosing to go with CarbonROM or DU 13.1 and it has some nice features.
Not nearly as many as HavocOS for examples but a good amount of the core ones you expect.

Nopes! I'll wait before flashing it then. At this point, I'd hope every Pie ROM has that patch but I understand Carbon is still new to this device on Pie and the maintainer must have missed that patch. Thanks a ton for answering my query!

Thanks! Considering the mantainer is active, I'd definitely love to give it a shot as soon as it'll support FDE.

I think these commits might be the required ones to make it work. I did some digging and found about them. I can be wrong as well but hope it's worth a look.

Thanks for the pie update. On Oreo, there was a bug where going into data settings would crash settings app. Does it happen on pie too?
Edit: No more crashes :highfive:

CarbonROM is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled ROMs, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub...
Disclaimer:
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! These builds are experimental and can contain Bugs (as listed above). Make sure to do backups.
Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
5) Please keep bugreports to this thread or Discord. Do NOT create a Jira ticket. This is still in early development so we don't accept any bugreports yet.

Be sure to check the 2nd post, you'll find all the needed info and updates there.

As I said, 10.3.2 is the recommended vendor.
As I do not have the device myself I cannot debug the fingerprint issue easily.
eekeek:O Thank you so much for this!
Will flash tonight and run some tests.

Also, will there be updates to this ROM or is this it? Hoping for just a slice of pie, maybe? Since its open source, does that mean other people can provide patches to this? My android skills are limited to flashing and backing up only haha

Sorry, I wasn't rushing you. I'm currently backing up now, so excited
OK I'm writing this as I do it:
Was MIUI 10.3.2 as recommended. Also used TWRP 3.2.3-1020 by L.R.team
Wiped DATA, formatted data, then formatted Dalvik/ART Cache + system + cache, Flashed ROM, Flashed gapps pico. Reboot.
At first I got a bootloop, but then I rebooted into recovery and tried to reboot into fastboot, but then I "accidentally" rooted (believe it or not). And then I got to the splash screen. Then it said that "my vendor image does not match the system. Please flash the O11019 vendor image for your device." (This might be because of my root, MIUI gave a similar error (system error, etc)., I pressed OK, my phone started to encrypt itself, and then 30 seconds later, it rebooted.
First boot took 60 seconds only. Setup was easy and went smoothly.
Camera (picture+video), hotspot, all working. It seems to be stable. (Except fingerprint ofc) Calls working fine
Thank you so much for this! I will test battery life after installing greenify overnight.
EDIT:
I take this back. OUTGOING calls work fine, but INCOMING calls do not work. INCOMING and OUTGOING TEXTS (SMS) DO NOT work..
Sorry for the confusion. At the moment I can't see any more bugs. After I get CarbonROM setup and everything I'll make a full backup, then revert to MIUI for the moment.
Still, thank you for your development, I may search around the forums for a solution. This issue was common on other custom roms for ther edmi 6
One more edit: Apparantly LTE was causing issues. I changed to 3G and everything is fixed. But now I can't select LTE again. (Mobile Network>Preferred Network Type)

July security patch. As CarbonROM doesn't support Oreo anymore, I had to manually patch the update into the ROM's sources. Thanks to LineageOS for providing the patches.

Can you provide some logs please? I've tested the builds on OB11 and older (as thats still the newest on the German OnePlus download page...). Will check against 10.3 (I assume 10.3.2, the latest?), but logs would still be awesome

There are plans but I can't provide any specific information yet. I'm part of OnePlus' dev seeding which means OnePlus will provide me with a device from the OnePlus 8 series, likely the OnePlus 8 Pro. However, due to the current situation, internal approval and processing was and is delayed which also delays us getting the device, so I'm unable to provide you further information at this point.

+1 could someone on this please test the WiFi connection? On other custom roms e.g Havoc, when further away from the router (therefore a weaker connection) the WiFi would disconnect/reconnect. This does not occur on OOS in the same situation. A log shows some error going on.
Also to the dev @Myself5 , if I were to switch to this rom, experience this issue, would you be willing to analyse a log in hope of finding a solution?
Out of curiosity also, is this based on the same source as Havoc?

I didn't experience any unnormal WiFi behavoir in the past 3 months I've been daily driving it, but if you get it I'd gladly look into it.
I don't know what kind of device sources Havoc uses, but I'm working together with the Lineage maintainers on device trees. Apart from that the only common thing Carbon and Havoc share is being based on AOSP, i think.

Ah thank you so much for the response, really appreciate it!
I'm gonna aim to load CarbonROM soon, hopefully tomorrow evening perhaps and I'll see if the issue exists. If it does, I'll capture a log and see it we can get to the bottom of this!
