Upgrade to OOS 5.1.6 from 5.1.5 using unofficial TWRP

I am using the Oos 5.1.5 and running unofficial TWRP 3.2.1-0 (i think, but sure its the unofficial build). I am rooted using magisk 16.4.
I want to upgrade to oos 5.1.6 using the zip file and also be rooted and also upgrade to twrp official version for oneplus 6 (if its better than unofficial).
So i want to upgrade to oos 5.1.6 using the twrp through the oos zip file.
If its possible please guide me. Btw i dont want to lose twrp or root or magisk......
Thank you in advance.....
I have upgraded my device using vpn for my phone now frequently freezes after so.e time of usage. I need to than power off and on the phome again.
You will lose twrp, root and magisk when you upgrade - it is unavoidable because of how the A/B partitions work. However , it's easy to get back.
There are multiple how-to guides in the Guides forum. Here's one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/how-to-update-oos-5-1-6-install-t3801822
Just download the full zip locally. Flash it in twrp. Boot into fastboot. Flash twrp boot img through adb command which boots you into temporary official twrp. Then flash the official OP5 twrp zip which your can find through Google. Reflash magisk.

Hi,
Yes you can, flash the latest installer via Magisk as a module, please note however that you need to reboot into TWRP and flash Magisk again.

Mi 10 lite - Magisk and Twrp ??

Hello all !
I've got a question about rooting and TWRP on Mi 10 lite.
I saw threads about that, but my Mi is on MIUI 12.5.1, and so it's Android 11 now..
My question is : could i put latest TWRP and magisk without risk ??
I download TWRP app on play store, and the Mi 10 lite is not on the list to download the recovery, so i don't now if it's possible or not.
My goal is to install TWRP (and would like to know if this will wipe all my data or not ?) and after install Magisk to root.
Is there someone who can help me please ?
Thanks a lot
Ps : i saw another recovery, so TWRP or another don't matter
Yeah, I'm using both. Not sure about the TWRP app but I flashed the custom recovery from fastboot and installed magisk from the recovery.

Hello coomac,
Thanks for your answer so in custom recovery you're using TWRP ? Which version ?
And for Magisk which version are you using please ?
Because it's my only phone and don't want to brick it
Thanks by advance,
I've used all versions of TWRP and the orange fox release for monet. They all work fine, but I'm partial to this one. I'm using magisk v23 stable.

Is it possible to pre-root a TWRP image prior to flashing it?

Hello. I'm trying to flash a TWRP custom recovery on a SM-A305G (Galaxy A30). While reading the official A30's post on the TWRP website, in order to properly flash the custom recovery, they recommend me to first root my device with Magisk (which I understand how to) but THEN flashing a pre-rooted TWRP image for my device. How could this be done?

Thanks in advance to who could answer this question. Internet hero.
Rooting Android OS is adding an user with elevated rights ( comparable to adminstrator in Windows OS ) to it, nothing else.
TWRP recovery does not require a phone's Android is rooted.

That just isn't how it is done, we don't root TWRP, we root the phone's OS. There isn't anything to "root" in or about TWRP because TWRP has the power to modify a device without needing root.
It isn't required, but, it is possible to root a device and then use an app such as Rashr, Flashify or TWRP Manager along with root permissions to flash a TWRP img or even use a Terminal Emulator app with root permissions to install TWRP via dd commands. It doesn't "have" to be done this way, it's just an alternative way to achieve root and flash TWRP on devices that are capable of doing it this way, in this order, not all devices can do it this way.
I want to have Magisk AND TWRP.
I rooted the phone with Magisk and had Magisk running.
Then installed TWRP app and flashed TWRP with root permission.
Now TWRP is installed but Magisk is gone again.
How can I have BOTH?

Flash the Magisk.zip via TWRP just to be sure binaries are installed, then wipe cache and dalvik cache in TWRP then boot into system and install the Magisk Manager app(if it dosen't get installed when you flash the Magisk.zip).
Unfortunately not working.
I installed Magisk via Odin wirh a Magisk-patched stock rom ( Galaxy A10). WORKED
Then installed TWRP via Odin and got TWRP and Magisk working by immediately booting into recovery after flashing.
But then I installed the CrDroid custom rom via TWRP and now Magisk is gone.
