Dear friends,
As we know in some country such as mine (Indonesia) Samsung locked the 5G capability on Fold 2, is there any idea on how we can activate 5G on Fold 2 with this issue.
Thanks!

Yup other newer device such as s21 ultra, z fold 3 and others have the 5g and worked well
So it's strange.
Maybe stupid question but are you have fold 2 5g version?
How symbol model have your fold?

Yes but for example are 2 version S20 Fe 5g and 4g with snapdragon 865.
So maybe are you have rare model only 4g.
How exectly model code are you have?
What they did with Fold 2 is that, Fold 2 have separate 5G chip and some devices doesn't have this or stopped working.

Has anyone tried using Chinese GM1910 model on EE 5G bands ?
As I understand EE uses n78 band, but I dont see it as advertised in GM1910 specs.
Thats a 4G phone right? so how would it support 5G Bands?

5G model has a separate modem X50 from Qualcomm for 5G currently all 5G enabled devices need this modem, So basically you need an 5G model from EE to use it.
Hi guys I have Note20 Ultra 5G Snapdragon version SM-N9860
And the 5G is working fine in the slot 2 but if I add another SIM in slot 1 the 5G disappear is there any way to make the 5G working if I am using 2 SIM in the same time
By the way
The exynos phones can do it without problem my brother using S20 Ultra and I tried to put 2 SIM inside the phone and I get 5G without any problem
make sim in slot 2 default sim for data/calls/sms
or whichever slot has 5g sim in it
Guess it's a Snapdragon thing since OP 8 Pro wouldn't let me use 5G while 2 SIM cards were active. Android 11 should bring support for it.
Like you said, Exynos allows it already.

I tried that doesn't work
Even if I'm using only one SIM in the first slot the 5G doesn't work.

Ah, yeah, that's the carriers behind that - cuts into their roaming business. Same here in Canada - which is why I ordered the SM-N9860. I have an SM-G9650 (LATAM S9+ DS) now, and can't see myself ever going back to single SIM.

Not necessarily - for example, there is still some question as to whether we can get 5G to work or not (it only has three 5G bands). That doesn't matter so much to me though - it has all the 4G bands I need, and it is Snapdragon, dual-SIM with 256GB of storage. You'd have to compare the bands it has to what you want/need for your carrier. There's a whole thread on it here if you want to check it out.

I ordered mine from PDAPlaza up here in Montreal - but there are several sellers on EBay, and the European guys got theirs from a distributor called Wondamobile. Your best bet is probably EBay, but there are lots of sources for these gray-market phones. Bear in mind it won't have a warranty in the US however - you'd have to go through the seller for warranty service.

Hi..I am in the UK and using dual SIM in my exynos N20U. Actually both of my SIMS are 5G and if i am in 5G area the Sim is use for mobile data ways connects to 5G. So it shouldn't be an issue for SD variant also..

Yes the official version in my country is exynos and I tried the exynos version of S20U with 2 SIM cards and it is working fine, but I bought the HK Snapdragon version of N20U but unfortunately if I insert 2 SIM cards the 5G disappear
I've got an exynos dual sim version and 5g works for me when I've both sims installed, but only on one sim at a time. See the screenshot in the link.

Hello everyone,
Anyone here can share your experience with Verizon on this phone?
I'm with ATT and signal not very good in my area,,i'm sure doesn't have to do with phone since it was always crappy signal where i'm at Gig Harbor WA. Also does anyone with Verizon used ESIM dual phone numbers with this Galaxy Z FOLD 2 enabled?
Thanks in advance! LOVE THE PHONE!
I am using it on Verizon. I have no problems so far, though I have been using it for less than 24 hours. I am getting about the same clarity as I had with my previous fold. Over all it is good. I have had a few blips of poor wireless connectivity in my house, but it might be the phone just connecting to new networks.

I have no idea. Sorry. That sounds like the type of thing that only Samsung will be able to answer. Good luck.
I've been using the fold 2 on Verizon since it release. I'm currently waiting for the update from Verizon for them to enable Esim. I heard its coming Thanksgiving.
I'm using the unlocked version on Verizon. No issues.
I'm on verizon, no problems except the visual voicemail is very buggy. Waiting for the 5G UW update. Who knows when that is coming ?
Verizon has eSIM.

Philadelphia. Allot of cities should have 5G deployed already. Just not mmWaves. 5G UW is low bandwidth. 5G UWB is mmWaves. If I got them correctly.
5g UWB is already available on Fold 2 out of the box. I assume you mean low band 5g. For that you need to wait for firmware update to enable low band 5g from Verizon

You need a 5g sim for mmWave not for the low band 5g.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G bought from the US (SM-N986U1) and I am currently in the Philippines. Is there any way I can make the 5G work here? If currently there is no way, would you think there will be in the near future?
Depends if the 5g bands are the same in both countries (and operators), you'd need to check that.
You could try the whitelisting method used on the Hong Kong variants which allows 5g use in Europe. Google it.
This is interesting part. I've been thinking about this not long time ago. My idea is as HK variant has same chipset etc, except storage with USA variant. So I believe it possible in some way to enable hidden or locked 5G bands on USA variant.
Not possible make to work because it do not support bands used bands and combinations used in Philippines: https://cacombos.com/device/SM-N986U

hi mate just for knowing, i had this idea to import myself a broken note 20 ultra 5g US variant, you said that the 5G is not working. Did the 4g,3g or 2g worked for you? im from italy and i found on ebay a good priced phone, but now im scared that the network will not work for me. i found the philippines band chart with all the frequencies and bands. like in italy, only one/two of them are supported and i would like to know if the network was working.

Hey there. Yes. My former Note 20 Ultra 5G US variant's 4G is working in the Philippines.
I recommend you get also the Hong Kong (Snapdragon) variant instead, as I have read somewhere that HK variant's 5G could work in the UK.

Well this answers my question. I recently bought a US version note 20 ultra 5g and having trouble activating the 5g on my phone which seems to be impossible. I should have bought a snapdragon hk version instead then. This is very frustrating cause I'm really enjoying the benefits of a Note phone.
Cause I bought a exynos note 20 ultra last year off amazon and it could only get to lte but not 5g and I got it to get 5g and be able to root. So I returned it and just got a snapdragon version and just lived without root which is honestly fine btw. Will the same thing happen if I buy an exynos s22 ultra? Or can the snapdragon version be rooted this time? Pls don't yell at me if this has been asked but the search bar here is confusing and I'm baked af

The most reliable way to ensure your device will support 5G is aquire your Service Provider's device.
Typically with the Exynos variants you can access root but since it's a brand new version ask a Exynos user if bootloader unlock is available in developer options. If you're going to be in US it probably won't connect.
Again typlically only the Snapdragon version from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong (SM-G9080) will offer unlocking the bootloader. If you're going to be in US it probably won't connect.
Be aware OneUI 4.1 may have eliminated bootloader unlock.

The T-Mobile device is a Snapdragon variant, if that's your carrier and you need 5G it's your best option. The T-Mobile device, if it's the same as it's predecessor the S21 Ultra, can't be rooted. T-Mobile only sells Snapdragon variants.
My experience with a HK s21 ultra that has the same bands as exynos s21 is that 5G doesn't work in the US asot didn't have
the key 5G bands. On TMobile it sometimes says 5G as the device has one if the bands tmob uses for 5G in the US but it's phantom, and you only get 4G.

Yep, I have the SM-G9980 on T-Mobile and Network Mode displays 5G but it never connects. For me 5G is close to useless and I'd rather not have T-mobile's bloatware and prefer the unlocked bootloader. Not to mention no long term carrier commitment if you're looking for a discount on a new device.
