Linux on Android rockchip box - Android Stick & Console Computers General

Hi everyone !
Which Linux distribution do you recommend on Android box with Rockchip chip and more exactly RK3566?
For you, it is better to buy Amlogic X3 and X4 or Rockchip 3566 Android boxes such as X88 Pro 20, H96 Max ...?
All opinions are welcome.

Armbian is the go-to distro because it's lightweight and already have many models already working

[IDEA]Tab 3 10.1 update

I'm a total noob in building kernels or Roms but I found something interesting.
1.The Acer Iconia One 7 B1-730HD has the same chipset like our Tab3 and maybe someone could find the kernel to port it over.
2.The Asus Fone Pad 7 ME175CG has Intel Atom Z2520 inside and I have got the kernel for this one. Is there a way to build something based on this ? ( www(.)asus(.)com/Tablets_Mobile/ASUS_Fonepad_7_Dual_SIM_ME175CG/HelpDesk_Download/ )

You want CM based Custom ROM, right ?
You can check Angel_666 post here on Tab 3 forum.
The Intel Atom Z2560 is different from Intel Atom Atom Z2520.
CPUs frequencies are different (1200mhz vs 1600mhz) GPUs frequencies also different (300mhz vs 400mhz)
Asus bootloaders and Kernels won't work anyhow on Sammy target.
You need a GENIOUS to make such port.
The bad thing with Tab 3 is PowerVR GPU which won't work anyhow on CynogenMod or Android-X86 images.

There it is.

May I ask you, what you are trying to do ?
I would recommend you work with the developer of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727771
He has built a custom 4.2.2 kernel for the 3.10 and should be able to get you started.
hey
doc, ua,
thanks, just tinkering, looking for clues, learning stuff
some things are device specific, some things not.
mostly i'm trying to find a way to override/bypass what seems to be a preference/flag in
bootloader in gt-p5210 for android specific/approved kernel, so ..... :silly:

Intel Atom x86 SOC, how hard is it to load rom from a different atom z25xx device?

I am on a Asus trio tx201la INTEL x86 tablet on android 4.2 on the tablet part. I researched that The zenfone 5, dell venue 7 and the samsung galaxy tab 3 10.1. All have the same intel atom z2560 cpu soc and some are running Android 7 & even 8 now.
The Galaxy tab 3, zenphone 5 got a lot more attention and thus a lot more custom rom attention. Dell venue and my Trio got little to no attention due to poorer sales.
The galaxy tab 3 has been updated to 7.1.1 see:
http://techbeasts.com/install-android-711-nougat-galaxy-tab-3-101-lineageos-141/
Now How can that help the Trio? I found this tool, but no flash.xml so no luck using it:
https://01.org/android-ia/downloads/intel-platform-flash-tool-lite
Here is a guide on how to use it: http://www.aryk.tech/2016/04/how-to-flash-stock-firmware-using-intel.html?m=0
This is all NEW as of 2017. So its not been available before this.
The TX201LAF a french tablet version of the TX201LA is in the same boat but it at least it is on 4.4. Its kernel firmware is here: http://support.asus.com.cn/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=TX201LAF&p=3&s=587
My big question is with all these roms for x86 atom z2560 & z2580 soc's shouldn't I be able to get an updated rom somehow? I imagine that would involve building a rom myself but if the base soc is the same isnt it possible to build the rom for a different device and use a different kernel source like I linked above? The kernel source has the drivers I need right, for the device to run? Ive heard a lot of people talk about you wont get the touch panel to work or the wifi. I understand that but isnt it all loaded from the kernel source? So basically if I have kernel source and grab an updated rom from lineage 7 for the galaxy tab 10.1 and replace the kernal i'm good to go right? I know there is more to it but really looking for some help here?
Even if I can just get the tx201laf image to load on my tx201la that would be
something, its an update from 4.2 to 4.4. Both devices are identical, so that should make it a lot easier right? Looking for any insight to xda experts can provide.
Hi ! I'm still using my trio so I'm very interested ! Did you succeed ?
Thks a lot
no luck yet
I had hopes that this would turn out to work but you cant use the intel flash tool without a flash.xml which is written for the device. SO that stopped me dead in my tracks.
I recently found this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/efidroid-t3447466/page37
Hoping this dev will give the tx201la a shot. There is also this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...g/tool-multirom-recovery-replacement-t3102395
Do you realize how simular the tx201la is to just about every zenphone made since the newest. IE almost all of those roms would likely boot on our tablet.
??
Any other input?
Come on guys, has everyone moved on to the shinny new toys?

Ok I checked out the Russian thread, which I cant believe I had never found, seriously what search engine do you use? Or are you Russian?
Anyway that lead me to this: https://cs5-3.4pda.to/10031052/20170404_145326.jpg?6c8bd0e99d5f5d5ce8c14e92c456565c
That might not mean much to many but its the TX201LA running the Asus memopad 10 android 4.2.2 and its actually working. So that is a huge deal.
Then I found this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../rom-8-0-0-lineageos-15-0-unofficial-t3693838
There is a updated rom for the memopad 10. Now I hope I can get this rom to run with slight variations.. Will see..

[Dualboot] Android Boot Manager

Hi!
I would like to present you Android Boot Manager dualboot solution.
For now we have 4 work in progress devices:
Volla Phone
F(x)tec Pro 1/X
Moto G5
Galaxy S3 neo (nothing done yet)
Our wiki
Why new solution?
There is a lot of them already, such as: efidroid, multirom, dualboot patcher.
Now all of them are dead, because google implemented SAR, A/B, super partition.
We aim to support all that.
How it work?
ABM consists of 2 parts: bootloader and app+ sh scripts.
App with sh scriptes is used to install bootloader and add new roms.
Bootloader is used to display list of roms and load linux kernel with right dtb and optionally initrd.
What is used as BL:
Anything that can boot kernel. It coud be either 2nd stage bl, or in some cases even phones main bl.
For now:
Volla Phone (MTK's lk based bl)
F(x)tec Pro1/X (custom abl + uefi app)
Moto G5 and S3 neo (lk2nd)
Thanks to:
nift4 (Android app dev, co-creator of project)
LVGL team (GUI library)
lk (little kernel, used as bootloader on some platforms)
Fxtec (HW)
Volla (HW)
Reserved
Reserved#1
i am looking forward for your project ,Good work and hope if support come also for xiaomi poco F2 pro

I have a F(x)tec Pro1 ready for some stunts, I'm happy to serve as a test pilot as soon as I can find some instructions!
You call it Android Boot Manager. Does that mean it is made specifically to boot things that are based on Android, like Stock, AICPQ, LineageOS, or is that true for any ported OS that runs on libhybris with the Android kernel (plus some patches sometimes), like hybris-mobian, ArchARM, SFOS, etc.?

Hi, now we have work in progress wiki https://www.wiki.abmanager.tech/index.php/Main_Page
We plan to implement no-bootloader-workaround that will work on devices without 2nd or 1st stage opesource bootloader. And we plan support for Das U-boot
Great news! I see that the Pro1 msm8998 is not listed among supported devices, but count me in as a tester as soon as it is. Curious if it would be possible to dualboot mainline + libhybris OSes too, but I reckon this would be difficult.

It is not listed as wiki is really WIP. And yes it will be possible to dualboot libhybris based OSes with mainline based.
how is the project going? think that your android boot manager will be a cool thing!!

I am one of the developers, and well we are working on something easy to port, it isn't totally generic.

that‘s because i deleted the post. It was logic anyway that it will be (hopefully ) a universal solution, bc its also in the topic android development. But nice that you working on that! I also have Dualboot on my Poco F1 because the dev vasishath brought Multirom to this device.
Hi Luka,
any info on the progress of dualboot for the f(x)tec pro1 x? ABM would definetely be great for this device.

Update my phablet BQ Elcano2 (MT8393)

Hi everyone! This is my first post so..first of all I apologize for my grammar, I'm Spanish.
A few days ago I found at home a BQ phablet model Elcano 2 Quadcore. After charging and turning on the device I realized that it currently runs android 4.2.2. I managed to root my device so that I could update it to a more current version of android. The problem comes when I can't find any TWRP recovery or support on Lineage OS.
I have read that you can use the recovery of another device with the same specifications as mine but I have not found anything on the internet either.
Hope you can help me update my phablet. I don't need the latest version of android, by making my device useful I'm satisfied.
I downloaded the Aida64 application to know what processor I have:
MediaTek MT8389
4x ARM Cortex-A7 @ 1508MHz
1Gb Ram
32Gb ROM
7inch
Thanks dudes

64 bit for Redmi 9A

Hello
i just want to ask that are there any development to build 64 bit roms (MIUI version 64bit or any unofficial rom) for this device?
seems like none a single dev is currently using this device.

i don't think that's 64bit OS, do you? that's a64, means the partition tipe, means chipset support 64bit but the software is 32bit. a64 doesn't mean 64bit version unless there's specific info says 64bit. 64bit would be arm64 or aonly in my experiences.
