Android 11: How to access and modify all files in root/data/data? - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
My phone is Samsung Galaxy A72, Android 11, already rooted with Magisk
I currently use Solid Explorer as my file manager, and I got this notice when I accessed root/data/data:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And as you can see, I can only read and edit the files only in these two folders, with Solid Explorer
The same case happens for Amaze File Manager (with no notice though):
However, it seems that ZArchiver can navigate everything in root/data/data (well, this app is not for editing anyway):
My search about this only leads to me to other people's issues about "Android/data in Android 11", but I can access that normally.
Can someone explain to me what's going on? And is there any file manager, or any way to access and edit all files in root/data/data on Android 11?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, look like it works
And there is a built-in code editor as well, which is pretty neat.
I still don't understand why Mixplorer can access and edit while some other apps I know cannot...

It is the favorite used by the majority of root users and device modders. It should serve you well.

Mixplorer isn't working for me on my Xperia 5 III with A 11
all apps i tried don't get writte acces

Hello,
A mirror of root/data/data is root/data_mirror/data_ce/null/0/, with full read and write access.
Tried successfully with Solid Explorer on Pixel 7 Pro (Android 13, Magisk 25.2).
I discovered this mirror thanks to Total Commander.

can u explain a bit more how to do it.?!

This is by far my "goto" file explorer. It just plain WORKS whenever I need it. Thanks for this great app. I've recently needed a text editor, so this is a welcome update for me. Just one question: how do I use it? If I select a file to edit how can I get it to show in andtext?

Okaay, I uploaded the res folder after decompiling apk, i think you'll need to edit \res\values\strings.xml file, open it with notepad++ (yes, it's necassary) & there's a line like this:
Code:
<string name="app_name">ES File Explorer</string>
Not sure if it will work, just edit the "ES File Explorer" to how you want it.. Then u can send your edited strings.xml & i'll compile & see if it's changed

S-Style Digital Clock Widget MOD

Hey some may have this already as I've been packaging it with previous work.
It's as close as I cold get to the new Xperia Digital Clock Widget using various font combinations along with Red Wizard's DCW available from the market.
DO THIS:
1. Place apk in System app folder & set permissions.
2. Launch application and set settings according to screenshots.
3. Select widget from desktop.

Just in case you have any trouble achieving the info fonts from the screenshots I've also posted a zip file of my current font set from cm.
Should work w most ROMS, just extract and replace system font files as needed.

you tell me how to setting permission..?
Hey monk, first of all are you sure the app is not functioning properly already? There may be no need to mess with permissions depending on how you installed it. Otherwise to answer your question I'm hoping you have root access because it would be necessary to set permissions manually. I'm assuming you do and have dropped the app into the system/app folder with Root Explorer or equiv. If so and you did in fact use Root Explorer just navigate back to the root app (use Root Explorer to system/app/digitalclockwidget), long-press on the app then select "permissions" and check all three from the top down in the first column, only the top box in the second column then leave the last column fully unchecked(sorry I'm on vacation and do not have a way to post screenshot). Alternately you can use ROMManager and just select Fix Permissions to allow it to perform this task for you. The manual method is well worth learning though so I recommend trying that first. If you do not have Root Explorer you will need a file browser that allows root access. The version of Root Explorer that will allow root is paid but well worth the investment. It is an invaluable tool I use on a daily basis. There are others and if needed you could probably find something for free to get the job done, I recommend Root Explorer. Currently on vacation for another week week but I will try and check back to see if I can help further. Good Luck and let me know if this helps. earbrain

[Q] Google Calendar on Stock JB??

As the title says, when I was on ICS, i had Google Calendar and its useful widget, but on JB, it is gone.
Is there any way to get it back??
Mine is there....Is the entire application missing? I'd think being on stock none of that stuff would be touched/modified.

The .apk must be installed normally or it should be put in /system??
please help!
you have to install it to the system. try using a file explorer or adb, i prefer adb cos its faster. if you use root explorer, set the permission to wr-r-r. and you put it in /system/app

Did tried that, but it didn't worked either. After some little investigation, Calendar.apk was in system/app the whole time. It seems the problem comes from CalendarProvider.apk. I went to system/app, tried to install CalendarProvider.apk, and it gave an error, telling me that the same app was installed, but with a conflictive signing.
Can anyone provide me with a clean, JB version of CalendarProvider.apk??
the internets is full of the GB and ICS version of that one...
Thanks in advance.

I will upload one as soon as I get home. And make sure you have a root explorer and move the app to the folder and set permission wr-r-r.

Downright the best F-droid client when it comes to UI/UX. I'm glad it wasn't deprecated in favor of Neo Store, as iirc it was planned initially.
I use it since 2 months on my Pixels with CalyxOS. It is far better than the native FDroid client.
Just one question: Where do it store the downloaded apk files? Had a quick look but was not able to locate their location.

As far as i know i use a filemanager without root access. Until your reply i do not saw a reason for using one with root. Can you recommend one or do i have to "root" my phone. What was the reason for hiding the downloaded apk's? The APKPure app is putting them into the users download folder. This seems to be a good place for them.
