Question Developers: Gboard for Watch4 - more languages? - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

Hi,
Would it be possible somehow to install more/new language packs for our smartwatch?
I like Gboard because its swype typing method is quite precise in my native language, Hungarian and the speech to text feature also works well. But the Wear OS version - although it has 29 different language packs - has no Hungarian. (And I know that Greeks are also craying because of the lack of their language support.)
So it would be very nice to have more downloadable languages -- mainly Hungarian in my case
Please, help us; those who don't belong to a wider language community...

Gboard for Wear OS yesterday released a new version (2.1.09.402048158) which supports much more languages, including Hungarian. Problem is solved.

[Q] Making Mi4 an english phone

I am thinking of importing one of these phones to Europe from China. I've read the reviews and seen the videos and I am sold. The only thing holding me back is that this is a phone created for the Chinese market and I live in Europe.
Will I be able to change the language to English and remove the Chinese language from the interface. The videos I've seen show the device using the English language but there are still a lot of UI elements in Chinese (i.e. a video showed someone writing a message using an English keyboard but even that had some Chinese buttons).
Another video showed the installation of Google Play Store (as it does not come preinstalled) and even the Google apps had Chinese text written next to the English name of the app.
I'm fine with all Chinese text in Xiaomi apps like their own app store (as I will not use those apps) but I would like the rest of the phone be entirely in English.
Thank you.

There is a Global ROM that is stripped from chinese elements. Just look it up in en.miui.com

The OS default has English as an option. But bear in mind, the phone is designed for Mainland China market,so some software, features you will not be able to use it else where. Surely ,can flash with your own ROM. It is a great phone with competitive price.

How much did you pay for it?
Is it announced a UK release date in UK?

I ended up paying 385 Euro for the 64GB version. This price includes DHL shipping cost to have the phone shipped to Cyprus. I also expect to pay import charges when I receive it.
I don't think they announced any releases outside of China. From what I remember reading online there might be an international version of the phone coming out during Christmas.
The retailer price for MI4 64GB is about 320Euro then you can work out how much the shipping cost would be.

Yeah, don't worry about the language. Just use the multi language ROM from miuiandroid.com. Comes pre loaded with Google play services, Chinese apps are removed, and is pre-rooted. It is also updated weekly with the official MIUI ROM.

Uninstall Chinese
1. First download the developer rom from en.miui.com/download-240.html
2. Flash the rom as per the flashing instructions provided.
3. Install the application from Play store - Unininstall
4. Provide root permission to this application
5. Uninstall chinese apps especially - Google pinyin input

How do you "use" the ROM? Can you send the link and explain how to download? Thanks

Download latest cancro zip from xiaomi.eu and follow "2. Flash MIUI ROM in Recovery" guide.
Is the ROM available at http://en.miui.com/thread-51839-1-1.html is for the 4G-LTE one?
Unofficial ROM error message

Change the default language for a single app

Hi,
Is there trick to change the default language for a single app?
I have my OS in English and I have installed a French subway application.
This French subway application is using automatically using English language because my OS is in English. I would like to have this application in French (because the English version is badly done) and there is no option to change this in the app settings. This application is normally in French, but I cannot have it in French.
I have a rooted Android phone (Galaxy S4),
Regards, Chris

This app was posted some time ago. Hopefully it helps. I've tried using these before - I live in Taiwan and the naming conventions can be monstrous. There are several variants in the app store. You might also consider setting up a widget for a quick EN-FR change over before launching the app.
Bon courage !
Best, Eric

Thank your reply, this app is not working on my Galaxy S4 unfortunately. I have Android v4.3 and this app is compatible until Android v4.1.2
"This app only works until 4.1.2, some permissions changed after that and the app is not allowed to change the phone's configuration"

Apps crashing - Contacts, Google maps and more

Hello,
I have huawei mate 8 4/64GB Chinese version (Build: NXT-AL10C00B197, EMUI Version: 4.0, Marshmallow 6.0)
I have noticed when i try to add a new contact (From the Dialer / Contacts App / Whatsapp) doesn't matter, the app crashes.
Tried Cleaning app data (contacts) , tried factory reset and nothing seems to work.
I also noticed that this happens in other apps like google maps for example when i try to type an address.
So i thought maybe its a language problem, The Chinese version comes with Hebrew support built-in, so i changed it to English (US) and the problem was solved (GREAT!)
But does any one knows how to make it work with Hebrew support ?
I can use English but its not the best solution.
Thanks.
Some one have any idea?
Did you root it?

I have a solution for the contacts and work around for the rest of the google apps.
The work around for for google map or google keep is to uninstall them from the HiApp app that came with the device - this will solve your problem. In addition fo to google play and disable the auto update since once it will update the google maps or keep again it will start crashing again. the HiApp contain the latest version so no issue with that.
The solution for the contact is to download from http://www.apkmirror.com/ 2 apps: First is: google.android.contacts and the google.android.sync - install them and the in the applications/permission check the trust this app box - to create new contact use the contact app you just installed - it will work also with Hebrew.

Can i have the newest Google keyboard APK?

Is there a pixel user who can kindly share with me the APK of the latest version of Google keyboard which has the latest improvements in voice typing? This version is currently available for the pixel phones but I would like to try it on my honor view 10 phone. This can be done by an app called "App backup and restore". Here is the link to what I'm talking about.

I'm in the beta program and I have the same version that's available on Apkmirror gboard beta version 8.0.8 238291163 arm64
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...38291163-beta-arm64-v8a-android-apk-download/
I verified that Offline voice works on my pixel. Fyi though Google has many ways to verify your phone is a pixel or not so Good luck!

Is Swiftkey keyboard dying?

Hello. Does anybody have a clue what is happening to swiftkey keyboard?
There is supposedly a great update to v7.2.6.* but it is impossible to get it, i cannot check it from play store directly as I do not like gapps but with the alternatives:
Yalp store (play store front end) - "the app cannot be installed" or something
Aurora store (play store front end) - there is NO Swiftkey Keyboard there at all...
Aptoide - there is v7.2.3.24 which wont allow to resize keyboard to large enough..
As a conspiracy theory - Swiftkey Keyboard is inbuilt in most huawei devices I think... Huawei has stopped exclusively offering bootloader unlock codes from late summer 2018, Huawei is being disputed more and more in the western world due to economy politics... Whats going on? Should I be afraid of this keyboard? I'm not letting it to access internet anyway
Any ideas? Or maybe anybody has the 7.2.6.* apk? It doesn't seem to exist anywhere else than Play Store with its bug
All that I have found from open web is [email protected] and it has a weird blue android icon (not swiftkeys) and it crashes.
Thanks
Huawei has nothing to do with Microsoft.
Also, I have this version, updated yesterday, I can extract the apk if you want.
