Is it possible to root this phone WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader and having all of the data wiped out? I just want to backup everything, but can't do it without root access. It wouldn't make sense to me to root it only to find that everything I wanted to backup is gone. Thanks.

I somehow lost root on my tf300t, stock Android 4.2.1 build US_epad-10.6.1.27.5, locked bootloader. Root Checker Pro shows the attached info.
It appears permissions are messed up? I, don't know how, I have both Supersu and Superuser installed.
Is there a way to restore root using ADB? Or do I need to re-root somehow?
New z3 D6653 factory unlocked need some help here. it's running 5.1.1 build number 23.4.1.A.200. How can I root this? It says my bootloader is locked but carrier is unlocked. Follow the process on the linked page above If you don't already have the Android SDK and ADB installed, you'll need to do that, or eventually just install Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
Edit: apparently got ninja'd.
Edit2: ups, apparently I also suck at reading questions - so unless you're looking to unlock your bootloader, just follow robkellie11's link.
You can root without unlocking bootloader Bro, downgrade to 5.0.1 and use kingroot root
I also want to root the z3 5.1.1. Can i restore it back after root and unlocked bootloader so i can still use the warranty?

If you Backup your TA Partition, you can restore the DRM Keys and your bootloader status, there for you should be able to use your warranty IF you're on a stock rom while sending your phone for repairs etc.
You can backup your TA Partition by using THIS
Hey guys,
I would like to change my LTE Bands with some software and guide I found here. I need root for this.
I am willing to root but not wiping data, if it can't be done without it, I would rather not root it.
Can you guys point me to a guide for Marshmallow? Found some on KK and some on Lollipop, none on Marshmallow.
Thanks a lot!
Dan
Almost the same as LP. Install or boot to TWRP recovery and use one of these solutions:
1. Use a custom kernel and flash SuperSU 2.52
2. Flash SuperSU 2.62
User data aren't wiped when rooting a Nexus 5.
EDIT: you must have an unlocked BL though. If it's not the case, you can't root without wiping user data.
BL is unfortunatelly locked. So basically I do need to wipe it. I think I would rather live without 4g until I upgrade to N5X.
If your bootloader is locked is no way to root without wipe data..to root M we need to flash custom kernel and custom recovery..its mean we need to unlock bootloader and it will wipe our data in intetnal storage
I have S-ON, unlocked bootloader, and root access on my One A9.. I need to remove my root access and reset phone to factory settings. Im new to phone-modding so this might be a simple process, however i'm not sure. Thanks in advance I also have TWRP installed.
I want to backup wife's Xperia E c1505 in order to restore part of the data to its new phone
The Phone has its bootloader is not unlockable (Bootloader unlock allowed: No)
The phone has the latest official firmware (11.3.A.2.33): non Root
FramaRoot doesn't succeed in rooting
Most of the backup application doesn't backup Data on non rooted phone
Helium lead to a phone reboot while associating with the PC
ADB Backup lead to a 41-byte backup
Has anybody any other solution to backup that phone ?
ADB Backup:
ANDROID BACKUP

none

Backed up my own c1505 with firmware 11.3.A.2.23 before rooting. Probably just "user"-accesssible data, the size was 700 MB. Don't have enough info to see what went wrong with your ADB backup, I'm afraid.
To root your phone you need to downgrade to 11.3.A.0.47 using flashtool (KERNEL only), root with Framaroot, and upgrade again (kernel only). See the thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-j-e/general/how-to-root-xperia-e-update-locked-t2409525. It worked for me with 11.3.A.2.23, the post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58185551&postcount=79 confirms it works with 11.3.A.2.33.
Probably you can backup the entire system if you've successfully rooted it, but I haven't got around to doing it yet myself.
