Hello XDA members,
I am running LineageOS 15.1 on a Samsung S2 GT-19100 Android version 8.1.0. Recently WhatsApp stopped support forthe version I was running. The app kept giving me a front page sying upgrade now. I coudln't upgrade. I installed the later version .apk file donwloaded on a desktop computer and transferred ot the phone. It installed ok but stopped me using it.
I installed WhatsApp Version 2.18.92. WhatsApp says it doesn't support custom roms. Also it keeps asking me to reset date and time but I've tried everything and i can't get past the incorrect date and time page. I sometiems got a page sying WhatsApp does not support custom roms.
Has anybody here got a way to make WhatsApp work on a custom rom?
Thank You

If anybody else comes accross this problem I installed the latest version and it worked a treat also restored all content.
The lates version runs on anything after android system 4.0.3 so there aren't any issues with outdated systems. Just install the latest version of whatsApp and it works fine.

Why is thread for First Ever's Oreo ROM locked?

I am currently posting on my Nexus 5 running First Ever's Oreo ROM. Strange to found that moderator locked his thread, which worries me as if First Ever done anything suspicious with the ROM or violating XDA rules. There is no notes what so ever to explain.
Can someone know about it explains, or ensure me the ROM is safe for continue use?
I wonder if it has to do with the GApps being included in the "ROM"
I have to add the download link to my thread on XDA - this is the only reason why my thread was locked!
Good news - I managed to add Pixel NavBar
New version 21-01-2018 will be available today on my website then on XDA.
BTW this is not a ROM, I'm sharing UBR (Update By Recovery), my private clean backup and I believe backup can include GApps.

One Plus 7 Pro (GM1910) Hydrogen OS to Oxygen OS

Hello everyone,
I have just bought my OP 7 pro (GM1910) in China and it came with Hydrogen OS 9.5.9. GM21. I have downloaded the latest Oxygen OS 10.3.0. GM57AA from the official website, but when I try to flesh throughout the local storage I get "System update installation failed" and I can't see the changelog.
Could anybody give me suggestion on how to upgrade to Oxygen OS:
I have tried:
Wiping cache
Factory Reset
Downloaded two different packages

Building Android 11 from source, need help with some questions.

I have been into installing custom ROMs and rooting Android for many years now, used many mid range Android devices, never tried to build one from source (did not have good enough hardware or broadband), now I have got both and want to try building ROM from source and got many questions, any help would be appreciated.
Important questions:(Need these answers before I start downloading Repos)
Is it possible to create any Android version Rom for any device? like I used to have Moto G2, if I can get it's source code, can I build Android 11 Rom for it? or am I missing something here?
I own Realme 5 Pro now, if I build Android 11 and flash it, is there any chance it could hard brick my device?
If I'd built Android 11 for R5 Pro, how would I know it's for my device? can I flash that firmware on another device? or vice versa? I know that flashing other device firmware can hard brick your device.
What are the chances of getting bugs after flashing? like ril not working, or maybe settings wont open, camera wont work etc. and how can I fix them for my specific device?
How can I ensure that the specific build only works for R5 Pro and not other device? like do I have to sign it with specific code or anything like that? any idea?
Not so important questions:(You can answer it if u know)
How much download is necessary to build from source? If u have built, is there any specific download size or different for specific devices?
Also if I want to build TWRP recovery for R5 Pro from scratch how would I go about doing that? and what about giving it a different theme style?
How long will it take for my specs pc to build? any estimated idea? (specs: 16gb ddr4 3600mhz ram, Ryzen R5 3700x, Nvidia 2060 Super, and lots of space)
Can I build this Rom to be flashed via recovery or is it has to be fastboot specific?
Can I build Android Kitkat or something old for newer devices?
So these are the initial questions that comes to my mind, I am posting this thread on some diff forums too, if u have any experience regarding this please do share, any help is appreciated, Thank you.

Can't Install WhatsApp on custom rom

Dear Forum members,
I have lineae 15.1 on my Samsung S2 GT-19100 Running Oreo 8.1.0.
WhatsApp stopped supporting my version and said I needed ot upgrade. I couldn't upgrade. Just nothing happened when I tried to update.
I couldn't download via the phone so I downloaded a good .apk file and installed it via my desktop computer.
After I installed WhatsApp the app said my phone date and time was wrong so I recalibrated the date and time but it still said phone date and time is wrong.
So it was stuck on that notification page... Phone date and time is wrong.
Then it said WhatsApp does not support custom Roms. Is there any way to get WhatsApp to work on my custom rom? I've tried all I know and I can't get it working.
Thanks Community
Tim

Looking at Whatsapp's FAQ it seems like Whatsapp doesn't support custom roms and/or rooted devices. And if I understood your question right, you are currently running Lineage OS. So I would think your best hope would be finding an mod that supports rooted/custom rom devices or modding the app yourself.
If my answer helped you please upvote it to show your appreciation,
Jamie
Did you download that apk from the WhatsApp official website? Is it the latest version, v2.21.23.17 or later?
The common prompt 'the date is wrong' means that the version you are using is too old.
The version I installed is 2.18.92...

Your question got answered by WhatsApp themselves:
About rooted phones and custom ROMs | WhatsApp Help Center
faq.whatsapp.com
Try using the latest WhatsApp apk from apkmirror. I think it has more to do with the version you have installed. WhatsApp tends to disable the old APKs.
Also, although they say they don't support custom roms, it's just a pop-up that says you may face issues because you are on a custom rom which you can just click 'ok' and move forward.

Get the lastest apk of v2.21.23.25 from the WhatsApp official website or update it through Google Play Store at first.
I loaded the latest version and it restored all my conversations and content. What a refreshing simple answer ! So easy..
I was assuming all sorts of mismatches but it worked a treat. Usually I avoid the lates versions because of matching issues.
Thanks for the guidance, I should have spotted that myself.. ! Enjoy your day.
