Hi,
I just bought a cheap no-name phablet (tablet with SIM card slot) on eBay (used, I want to use it for my doorbell system). It has an Android 8.1.0 on it and the settings say it's a model "K4", serial number
Code:
0123456789ABCDEF
(which perplexed me a bit in the first place), the boot screen says "MediaTek" which I found out seems to be the CPU's manufacturer. Build number is
Code:
O11019 test-keys
and kernel version is
Code:
3.18.79
. The ebay article said the tablet manufacturer was Padgene which I couldn't find any information about (except for this Amazon article).
Now I somehow fear (for the serial number alone) that this is some kind of weird Chinese Android ROM no one knows what it really does in background. And so, I want to flash a custom ROM on the tablet.
Now my questions:
1. How is it possible to find out the real hardware manufacturer to find out which Android ROM I would need?
2. Are there even custom Android ROMs out there for those Chinese no-name tablets at all?
3. How do I flash it, should I use TWRP for it or choose a different way?
Thanks in advance, taiBsu
Not the manufacturer is of any interest, but device's hardware.

Any advice on how to obtain root would be fantastic.
Update
Right, I read on another forum about Chinese phones and tablets with a certain type of chipset can have the firmware / rom copied directly from the device in the form of a scatter file which you then use to create the image on your pc.
I already tried the tools but unfortunately, the software is not compatible with my tablets hardware.
I have now sent an email to the manufacturer explaining that my tablet is stuck in a bootloop and even the reset pin and recovery modes won't work and have requested a copy of the original firmware to flash to my device.
If I am successful in obtaining a copy of the firmware / rom, is there a guide explaining how to modify it in order to root it and how to make a recovery compatible with my device.
At the moment, this is all relying on me getting the firmware / rom from the manufacturer but, if I am successful, I will share my modded + rooted rom with the rest of xda.
While I am waiting for a response from the manufacturer, does anyone know if it is possible to "rip" the current rom / bootloader / etc from the tablet, just in case they don't send me the files I requested?
Any news on this at all? I have an 8inch cello win 8 tablet that won't start up so any future info on cello tablets would be handy.
Any news?

What is Bootloader?
•Every Android phone has a bootloader that instructs the operating system kernel to boot normally. But you need to understand one thing here that as Android OS is an open source OS and is available on a variety of different hardware, every manufacturer has their own version of bootloader specific for the hardware present in it’s environment.

★Advance Section★
1. Bootloop - Bootloop means your phone doesn't but up right, it's just starting and starting and nothing happens, or it's starting and shutting down and starting again. It just means your phone makes a loop while booting.
2. Brick - Brick means your phone can't boot up and you can only recover it with for example flash the stock rom. But there are different bricks for example soft bricks (for example bootloops) and hard bricks (for example doing and over the air=ota update when bootloader is unlocked). There are some other bricks and examples as well.
There Are Two Types of Bricks
1.Soft Brick - you can still turn your phone on but it doesnt really start (bootloop i think is a kind of soft brick. )
this kind of brick can be fixed through softwares like flashtool.
2. Hard Brick - you can't turn your phone on and it doesnt really start, you don't get any response from it.

3. Fastboot - Fastboot mode is used to flash a kernel if the bootloader is unlocked. With fastboot you flash a boot.img for your device, for example a kernel for a specific rom

Hi,
In a nutshell: each OEM use different frameworks, systemUI,... (+ closed-sources) devices have different kernels, drivers, libs, modules...
Before I start, here's what I have and what I don't have:
What I have:
BLU R1 PLUS
BLU R1 PLUS Kernel Source
A possible port device (An Intex Infie 3, to use the vendor from)
Experience with the linux command line
What I DO NOT have:
A kernel source for the Intex Infie 3
Now for the explaination:
I found several ARM64 devices and vendors, however the kernel source for my device is ARMv7 (even though the SoC is ARMv8).
I soon learnt that trying to build an ARM64 kernel would be a waste of time, so I decided to go searching for the needle in a haystack (which of course was another device, with android Oreo and an ARM kernel+vendor) I eventually found this Intex Infie device which I noticed did not have any arm64-related prop lines and ONLY had the zygote32 in boot.img
However I then discovered that even if the vendor would work, Marshmallow drivers in the stock kernel for the BLU R1 Plus will cause issues to boot any GSI because of the many changes between android versions AND I need "Binderised HALs"
I intend to use my cache partition as the vendor partition (which of course, I'll have to add early mount to the DTB in the kernel for)
I struggle with kernel editing and compiling as this is my first shot at developing for an unknown or unpopular device.
What I'm asking for:
I'm not asking for it to be done for me, but rather a hand that can point me in the right direction that would at least allow me to boot a GSI.
Curious if anyone has any experience good or bad about rooting these two tablets, if you have I'd love the method!
I haven't seen any methods, conversations, twrp for the iPlay 50 or the Blackview Tab15.
I understand these are not mainstream tablets and won't receive mainstream attention however I can always hope. A tablet like this suits my wanted specs and budget.
thanks
If the Linux kernel of both tablets mentioned is version 5.10 or higher then you can root via KernelSU: KernelSU is working in Linux kernel mode, it has more control over userspace applications. Only App that is granted root permission can access `su`, other apps cannot perceive su. KernelSU supports.

A Magisk successor at last?

Very interesting. I'll research and post an update.
In downloading a terminal emulator and using the command uname -a I've got the following.
ALLDOCUBE iPlay 505.4.161Blackview Tab154.19.191
ah well
I've looked and found a reference to an earlier tablet model an iPlay 40 where they say " you can use magsik app to modify the factory boot.img ,and flash patched boot.img ".
I'll take a look at this.
didn't have much luck. it seems these tablets are locked in not a conventional way. best to leave as is unfortunately.

I ended up just returning the tablet and grabbing something else. I no longer have this model to test unforunately.
