Hi, I have Nexus One and want to make calls from it using my PC i..e may be just copy/pasting phone numbers in that app and using headphones to speak/listen.
If this is not fully possible, is there anything similar setup possible ?

You could try connecting your phone to the computer via bluetooth, then setting up the phone to use the computer's speakers/headphone as the sound output and the computer's microphone for sound input. On win7 that menu will most likely pop up asking you for you preferences as soon as you connect the phone to the PC's bluetooth. In case the menu doesn't show up, right-click on the speaker icon next to the clock on your task-bar than left-click on playback devices & recording devices. (I'm assuming that you are running win7/vista)

As the previous poster had stated you could try a bluetooth connection, but a lot of devices limit the amount of bluetooth services can be used.
An alternative would be to get google voice and activate that with your google account. You can call via your google voice number from your phone or from your pc. If you use google voice on the pc it may pipe it through a relay server though, which will change the number on the receiving end.

I already have a fitbit, so was hoping I could use this, however it turns out you can't, I think it is due to the way Bluetooth 4 is designed to minimise battery drain and it therefore not always connected. I was wondering what other people use , other than say speakers and headphones. I know Motorola have a device planned, but hasn't been released yet.

HX550 earpeace is the only thing I have used. The Moto 360 is the coolest option - but an expensive one. I understand the new micro power-bank is like your fitbit and doesn't do the trick.
I actually have the Power Pack Micro that I use as a trusted device. Works perfectly!

I connected mine to my desktop PC. Tried it for a bit and it was a cool idea, except that when connected to it the sound would go through the headsets plugged in to the PC. If I tried disabling the audio connection through properties on the PC the phone would disconnect. I couldn't find a way to keep it connected without audio so I ended up removing it.
Would be nice if there was a WiFi option, then I could pair it with that. For now I guess I'll just live without.

Have a look at Skiplock in the play store. I have been using that in the meantime, it works much the same as the trusted devices, but also does wifi. I have it set up with my home wifi network so when my phone is in the house I don't need to put the unlock code into the phone, does Bluetooth as well, just need to get myself one of those power pack micro now...
Advanced Keyguard Manager also let's you bypass the lockscreen based on WiFi connection.

Wifi trusted areas is supposed to come as part of Android L I believe.
You cant use it with your fitbit because it doesnt pair, it only uses bluetooth to sync to the app occasionally. It doesnt have anything to do with BT 4.0 afaik.
The only trusted device I use is my car.

Is there a way to quickly/easily lock the phone when using this? I'd like to do the same, but wonder about the security if someone steals both my phone and my keys -- the phone's power button won't lock the device if the trusted bluetooth is nearby.
Is it possible, for example, to use the button on the Power Pack Micro to disconnect or lock the device? Or is there some quick way to re-enable the PIN using the phone itself? It would presumably be easy with a Moto 360 or a BT headset -- just turn the BT device off, and the connection will be broken. But it's not clear that the Power Pack Micro can be turned off or disconnected without going through the Moto Connect app.

You can quickly lock the screen from the notification shade...there is a persistent notification at the top of the shade saying you're unlocked, and and if you tap it, it locks and stays locked until the next time you unlock it from the PIN/Pattern/PW lockscreen. You could also quickly unlocked it by turning off whatever device you are using as a trusted BT device. The Power Pack Micro has a power button you can turn it off with.
I've got so many things I use as Trusted Devices:
Moto 360
Moto Hint
Power Pack Micro
BT stereo headphones (Bluebuds X)
BT speakers at my work desk
BT HR monitor while at the gym
My cars Sync system
Cobra Tag - this one is really cool device, like the Power Pack it tethers your phone and lets you page it the phone if you've misplaced it, but goes one step further - if you get too far from your phone, both the phone and the Cobra Tag sound an alarm. Great for making sure you don't walk away from a restaurant or home or wherever with your keys in your pocket but the phone left behind (or vice versa). the Power Pack doesn't do that tethering alarm.
To your original concern, if someone walks off with both your BT device and your phone, you're screwed, unless you have time to get on Android Device Manager and remotely lock the phone.
Wow, you have a lot of devices, unfortunately the Motorola powerpack micro is not available in the UK yet, hopefully it will arrive soon.
I've been keeping my battery alive by using Battery Pro app but you have to monitor it 24/7. So I bought a couple of CHARGIE devices - a hardware controller that goes between the cord and charge block to turns charging on and off via an app.
My phone connected to the device only once during many tests. I've been trying various settings and suggestions by the company. They insist it will work with Android v6 so maybe the phone is the problem. Device requires bluetooth "ble" so I turned on full location options (GPS, Wi-fi, bluetooth, cellular networks). I turned on setting to display all ble devices - shows a printer from a neighbour's house but not a Chargie 2 feet away! Ideas or information welcome...
Bluetooth is required for basic communication with the Chargie device, but if your particular phone's Bluetooth doesn't work, you can use another phone to configure Hardware Limiter and use it on the 1st phone without the app. Location Access is unfortunately required by Android's device scan library. Chargie doesn't use it (no purpose). iOS doesn't request that, for example.
If that particular Chargie doesn't work at all, on any phone, please contact [email protected] and it will be replaced for free.
Thank you so much for the info. The Chargies work (I have 3), just not reliably or quickly. I can plug in my phone right beside the Chargie and the app says it isn't in "range". Or it continually says the BLUE Chargie isn't in range even when plugged into the RED one! I had all radios including GPS on during the testing but GPS isn't needed. Still not sure how Airplane mode with Bluetooth turned on affects it. BTW my Oneplus One has Bluetooth 4.0.
Getting the phone connected takes so long, it's hardly worth the time to figure out the "hardware limiter" option with a Windows laptop. Not much documentation on it. I certainly don't want to leave my phone beside the device while charging. I was getting some answers via email until I asked how to return the devices. I may have to just accept that the device works 'sometimes'.
I have been experiencing issues connecting to devices over Bluetooth. Sometimes it just works, other times it doesn't work at all, and some times it kinda works but not right.
All of these issues are resolved by restarting the phone, but that isn't a solution because the issue comes back.
3 Devices I have been having issues with
1. S Pen - Sometimes it won't connect to the phone, I get an "S-Pen Missing" message and it will not connect. If I t ry to connect to it manually via nRF Connect (The Nordic Semiconductors Bluetooth App) it tells me that the BLE device has a GATT error. It happens semi-randomly but I can always make it happen by doing #2
2. Car Stereo - This is the weird one, it will connect and play music, but it will not do "calls" if I connect to Discord it won't recognise the car as a Bluetooth device it can route to.
3. Raspberry Pi - This one it appears it will connect to ONCE, and then after a disconnect it will not connect again.
Again, each of these can be fixed by restarting the device, but they happen again after a while. The pen & RPi use BLE, I don't know what the car uses for calls.
Turn off global power management completely in Device Care.
Network reset, reboot and clear system cache from the boot menu.
Ok, I've done a network reset, and cleared the cache partition. I checked Device Care for something like global power management, and I couldn't find anything. Most of the pwm settings are off except the "optomise daily" setting.
I'll let you know later if I have the same issue again.
These, this is a N10+ running on Pie.
To check if you have disabled global power go to Developer options>standby apps, all buckets should show as active otherwise power management is enable.

Are those the only three devices you connect via BT? What other apps do you use that need to use BT (i.e. Galaxy Wear, Apple Music, etc.).
You mentioned "Nordic Semiconductors Bluetooth App." I looked it up. Why do you need a third party generic BLE connecting app? It seems to me that could be the problem. You shouldn't need a third-party app to connect your BLE devices. The S22U's native pairing will work with any BT device that adheres to BT standards.
Try uninstalling the nRF Connect app and see what happens.
The only other Bluetooth devices I have are other in-house hardware, running on SiliconLabs BGM13P chips or NRF52840 chips...
The NRF app isn't a replacement for your bluetooth pairing app, its a debugging app... it can connect to BLE devices and show their GATT profiles, update devices that have Nordic's OTA update code and copy a devices GATT profile to act as a BLE Server.
We use it for testing and debugging.

Ok. I recommend uninstalling nRF Connect anyway. If anything, to rule out the app. How old is your car and the Raspberry Pi? Even though BT 5.2 is backwards compatible, sometimes older BT devices won't work with newer devices. That doesn't account for the S Pen issue though.
I uninstalled nRF connect, and changed all the settings you both recommended. Exactly the same behaviour when I went to leave work. My car stereo would do music but not calls, then when I restarted my phone, it worked. Then when I got home, my S Pen would not connect to my phone, then I restarted my phone and it worked.
Its not a problem of not being compatible, its a problem of something stops working.
Please also note that these devices worked fine together in the past. I am concered that it is either a change made by an update or a Bluetooth chip that is faulty....
OP- Have you debloated at all and if so maybe you've removed something relevant that might be causing these issues?
No, stock image, no OS modification beyond the things that Samsung offers (GoodLock and Stock customisation)
I have our in-house apps for interacting with our equipment (over Bluetooth) installed, but #1 they shouldn't affect anything if they are not open and #2 they don't do this to ANY of our other test equipment.
I would just like to say, that I appreciate the assistance that you are all offering! I have used many forums over the years when looking for support on things and I rarely find a place that is more ready to try and help than XDA forums!

I've seen the issue of the spen disconnecting but only a couple of times and the issue worked itself out within a couple of minutes with me not having to do anything.
I've also have had a couple of wonky issues when connecting a new Samsung phone to my car. I've narrowed down my issue to the fact that when I transfer my data & settings via Samsung smart switch, it includes the details of my Bluetooth pairings. To fix it, I have to go in and delete my Bluetooth phone settings from the car and from my phone and re-pair them.

As cool as I think Smart-Switch is as a program, I actually never use it when moving from one phone to another. The junk that Google drags with me from one phone to the next is already too much, I like to use a new device as a chance to do some housecleaning. So no old-data oddities here.

Hmmm.. Ok. You're probably right about the suspect causes. I know there is a code you can dial to get into diagnostic mode, I just don't know what it is.
The only other option you can try (as a last resort) is to factory reset it. If it is update caused, a factory reset MAY fix it. If you take it to a service center, send it in for repairs, or do a warranty replacement, they're going to factory reset it, or have you reset it.

I tried the codes, neither of them work as the first one is for vanilla android and the second is for older versions of Samsung firmware.
I've tried completely unpairing from the car radio and re-pairing, disconnecting and connecting from the other device to no avail.

I'm not entirely sold on the idea that it is a hardware fault. It could be a hardware limitation; meaning you cannot connect to more than a certain number of devices simultaneously. I don't know how many BT devices you can connect to at once. I know at least two simultaneous connections (I've only had two simultaneous connections at a time).
You said you have other BT devices in your house other than those three your having issues with. How many are there? How many are you connected to at any given moment?
Is it possible that you have too many simultaneous connections?
When you try to connect to your car.. Did you check under BT connection (your vehicle) to make sure both audio and calls are checked..

Yes, and I've disconnected, reconnected and even unpaired and re-paired the phone to the car.

Unless having multiple connections causes the BT to fail completely, no. Even after turning the car off and walking away, it still will not connect to the S Pen. The only BT devices I use with that phone regularly are:
S Pen, Car (Music & Calls)
At work I develop devices that use Bluetooth and I sometimes connect to them, but only ever one at a time.
