Is it possible to root a galaxy s7(sm-g930a)? It seems no matter what phone I get it suddenly becomes unrootable
Same question here - just got a hand-me-down SM-G930V variant.

So i own a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920V) and a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T817V) Both sold by Verizon and both on Android OFW 6.0.1
I've been reading a lot of posts on XDA saying that rooting these devices could potentially Brick the devices should KNOX be tripped (Because AT&T and Verizon are jackasses).
I was wondering if this has changed recently or not (I know that KingRoot fails completely cause i tried today).
Also due to my PC being out of commision the only methods i have for rooting are those that can be done on the device itself without the help of USB external devices such as a PC.
This may be a bonehead question but...
I've been reading some of the forums for a few days now and Im at my wits end with not being able to root my Verizon Galaxy S6 (SM-G920V) due to bootloader blockage. I am noticing that it is seemingly possible to root an S7 on Verizon though. How is this possible considering the same stipulations, and an S6 being the more outdated phone??
On the S6 i believe it's possible via CF-AutoRoot, however, mine (G920W8) got it's IMEI/EFS lost and corrupted by the stock recovery it flashes back so not really recommend using it.
Protip: don't get Verizon Locked devices if you are willing to Root
Hi there, I am wondering if anyone knows if I can root my Samsung Galaxy S7 7.0, model number SM-G930W8.
Carrier is Rogers, purchased from T-booth.
I am looking to retrieve data I have lost. I tried Dr. Fone but they cannot root an android of 7.0 and said if I can get my phone rooted by another way I can still use their recovery tool.
It seems like I have to download Odin. Just want to make sure I do this correctly.
Thank-you in advance!
Have you successfully rooted your device? I have the same device and problem.
There is another user who rooted an s7 (different model from the Rogers/Telus/Bell version) and used Dr Fone which resulted in a fingerprint sensor error: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/finger-print-sensor-responding-using-dr-t3735296
So for a bit I've had my Galaxy S8 and decided that i want to root it. I've rooted my S6 just fine out of the box when i got it but it seems to be harder for the S8. I was wondering if theres a way to root tge phone without a PC and such
There is a post somewhere that has a method of doing it, however your BL needs to be BL3, BL2, or BL1. Any newer and the method of rooting wont work.
There seems to no longer be a way to root, since the kingroot method seems dead atm. Is it possible to root my device anymore?
