Question How to connect without calls going through it - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

I like to connect for emails, texts, and apps, but do not want voice calls going through watch. This is the first time I've had this happen, and hate it. I don't see anything in settings for phone or watch to eliminate this without disconnecting watch from phone. Help please

Go to settings then notifications and find phone and turn it off

Thanks, I'll try that. Although it seems like more than a notification when the actual call goes there

I'd say it'll work

I had the same issue. Just figured out the solution: Go to the bluetooth settings of your phone and disable call functions for your watch 4.

Thanks. I never would have found that. In several years with a Samsung watch, this is the first time I've had this happen

Incoming call notification

When I receive a phone call, the phone displays either 1 or 2 options.
Option 1: Regular notification where i can drag the phone icon to answer or decline, which is easy.
Option 2: It displays like the screenshot below. Nothing happens when I tap on the DISMISS or ANSWER. The only way to take a call is to slide the notification left or right to dismiss it, then pull down the notification center and click there. It is far too much work.
My LG G3 does not have that problem. Is it a bug? Does anyone have this problem. and how do I fix or avoid this?
Thanks.
UPDATE: I just tried reboot it, and it worked. Now I can touch DISMISS/ANSWER. Not sure if it will acting up again.
I never saw that. But I switched to a different launcher within an hour of getting the phone and may never have received a call during that time.

I get that too didnt realize it was a bug just an annoyance
Yeah I get that one one too sometimes and not sure why. Usually I screw it up and ditch the caller on accident when I get this notification bar for an incoming call. I hate it!
How did you enable that incoming call banner?
I always get option 1
Are you using the default phone app or hangouts

I use the default phone app.
And I don't think this has anything to do with launcher as I just changed to NOVA but problem still persists.

Gear S2, CPC5 update, notifications and non-Samsung apps

Anyone else lose non-Samsung app notifications after last week's update? My email, S health and messaging alerts still work fine. Skype, Amazon, Facebook, UPS, and about twenty others that I had grown quite fond of receiving are now no longer providing notifications.
Factory reset the watch, un/re-installed Gear Manager, and reconfigured the notifications - but still nothing from anything but the basic native phone apps. (Yes, I've confirmed that the phone's app notification settings are all enabled. )
So, everyone else's 3rd-party app notifications working just fine?

I'm not having any problems. You checked under manage notifications under the Gear app?

Lucky me then.
Not really sure what else a guy can do if resetting the watch and the app doesn't do it, other than to fondly remember when it used to work.
It does still show the time, so I guess I've got that going for me.

Yes, that was the reference to reconfiguring the notifications after resetting the watch and Gear Manager.

Sorry, misunderstood that part. Have you also just tried disabling all notifications and then re-enabling?

Yeah, I've been trying everything I can think of to get it working again. Disabled every notification except one and tested each (Skype, Facebook Messenger, etc.) with no success. Email and text continue to work properly so, technically it is doing more than just telling the time and I guess those other twenty or so notifications weren't necessary - at least not anymore.
I would say in hindsight that for $300 I'd probably just choose to take my phone out of my pocket and look at it when it beeps, which, interestingly, is what I have to do for those other notifications now anyway.
From the try-try-again approach, I've force-stopped gear manager, disabled the app, uninstalled the updates, factory reset the watch, restarted the phone, cleared the cache-partition, reinstalled gear manager, connected the watch, configured the notifications and retested Skype, Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
Yeah, that didn't work.
On the bright side, there is a positive to take away from this.
Relatively speaking, I am now markedly less disappointed about not having the promised Samsung Pay on the watch.
Update.
It wasn't application notifications, Settings -> Notifications, they were all turned on.
However, a quick trip to Settings-> Lock screen and security -> Other security settings -> Notification access, showed that Samsung Gear was turned off. Seeming a bit questionable in that state, I threw caution to the wind and turned it on.
Problem solved.
You might ask how, exactly, something like just turns itself off. Considering I'd never visited that menu previously, it remains a mystery.
However, at this point I'm pretty happy to have my watch do more than just tell the time.
Now, about that missing Samsung Pay...

Why do I stop getting texts on my S2 randomly?

I go through this multiple times a day where out of the blue I'll get a text and it won't forward to my S2. It's really annoying, I have the notification enabled in the settings and it's connected etc. Just randomly stops.
Are you looking at your phone? I've noticed that when looking at my phone and not answering the text I still don't get it. My phone screen has to be turned off

Nope, screen is off. It also only seems to happen when my wife texts me.
Anyone? This only happens with one of my contacts.
Same thing happens to me. When it does, a reboot of the watch fixes it, but shouldn't have to do that.

Phone vibrates when I pick it up.

Well, as the title says, everytime I pick up my phone I feel a little vibration (and no, I don't have the "smart alert" thing turned on). I tried not to be worried about it but I can't not notice it. Any ideas?

I get this too if I have missed calls. I turned off the settings in phone app and it still does it.

May be you guys should try turning off the setting and restart, if that doesnt solve the problem go to recovery mode and clear cache. Let us know if any of that works.
On a side note: I have been facing weird ass issues with this phone just today my phone wont go to mute by using volume key while receiving a call. Like someone calls you and your phone is ringing, you just want to silence the ringtone you can use volume key (Press once), Flip the phone or put your palm over it (If you have the settings on). I tried multiple restarts and switched on and off the settings many times. It was fixed when i restarted my phone to download mode (This happened by mistake i wanted to go to recovery) anyhow that fixed it.

Did you follow the steps i suggested ?
Also try clearing system cache in the boot menu.
If that doesn't get it, modify the appropriate notification setting, lol.
That can be a daunting task but sort of fun because you can streamline your notification settings as you do so.

There are apps that log notifications so you can just check the log and quickly determine what is causing the notification even if nothing is showing on-screen

If they catch it. Consider which sensors and operation triggers it, cause and effect, to narrow it down.
Playing with Android is fun... Android witch hunts are how you really learn about Android's gooey layer tricks.
Google searches on older Notes and parallel Samsung models can turn up answers many times.
This model is too recent; so not near as much online troubleshooting info. Google searches encompass threads on this forum as well so it can be a good way to find the needle in the Android stack. Do not time limit searches.
On my 10+ with it's baffling bt poor audio I found the answer with something written about the N9.
Many of these issues are long standing.
Samsung finally fixed the bt settings issue in a Wearables update. That took years.
Only persistence is omnipotent...
I figured that out by chance..
It's the edge-compass app
Just delete it from edge apps and it'll go away.. cheers

Well, I've checked all that and nothing, I don't even have the compass edge panel. But I think I'm able to replicate the issue, it mostly happens when my phone is face down on a surface and I pick it up and turn it to me, I don't have a case on it yet and I'm starting to think that it might have something to do with the edge screen but so far no luck
Use good lock. It has a module to detect vibrations and tell you what they are
Nice catch

Yeah, I installed it yesterday. But no vibrations are registered there so honestly I don't even know what to think now.
On the other hand when I switched from my note 10 plus I used smart switch, and now I'm thinking I should do a fresh start on my n20U.

Exactly check if you have Notistar from good lock switched on. That cache might need clearing.
I just go with it lol. I'm nutz. I'll feel my **** vibrate in my pocket when its sitting on the table. So I don't pay much mind to phantom vibrations. ???

It does suck some battery life though. It's one of the features I disable on my 10+ mostly because I find it annoying.
It's cool though how much you can customize notification behavior; one of the biggest reasons to go with Samsung is customization.
I play around with Settings a lot.. never crashed a load doing it. It's just occasionally gets time consuming to sort it out.

Whatsapp sometimes not ringing when screen is off

I have a Samsung A04S with Android 13 en OneUI 5.1
For some reason when receiving a Whatsapp call while the screen is off, the phone doesn't always ring. When turning on the screen afterwards, a missed Whatsapp call then pops up. It always rings when the screen is already on.
It only happens when connected to Wifi, the issue disappears when using 4G.
I have:
- Checked permissions for Whatsapp
- Disabled "sleep" mode for Whatsapp in the background
- Switch automatically to 4G when Wifi signal is weak is ON, I also set this for Whatsapp specifically
The weird part is that it's random and doesn't always happen even when calling the A04S from the same phone.
What's the issue here and how can I fix this?
Did you find a solution for it?

Yea unfortunately. I tested different calling apps like Telegram, those calls do come when screen is locked. Whatsapp however, somehow puts calls in deep sleep or something
