Not enough of an upgrade for me, far too similar to the S7 specs wise, and camera too

I feel the same.
As they've gone for new design, It seems, they'll perfect this in the next version.
Especially that fingerprint sensor location. Even though it is symmetrical or suits better for the design (Check the attached Pics), its still in unconventional location.
Have to wait for Note 8 to see if they're going to change anything

Fingerprint sensor is in a dumb place, this means I have to constantly pick up my phone from the desk whenever I want to unlock it, rather than just touch the front of the phone as with the S7
And no physical home button... I'm guessing there will still be a method to enter recovery and download mode, but it's not gonna be via the Home key any more
They should have added back the 16MP 16:9 camera sensor, or gone higher, 20MP 16:9
Battery also, obviously the Note 7 gave them a scare, so they've just cloned the last working battery capacity of the S7 and Edge of 3000mAh and 3500mAh, but now with a larger screen and higher resolution sucking more life out of it
Front facing camera resolution isn't really on my list of priorities, the S7's front facing camera is fine for selfies etc
It looks like they've run out of ideas, no new innovation, so are just changing things for the sake of releasing a new model, this could be the S7 v2.0 tbh
I still don't get it why had to movw fingerprint sensor on the back like on huawei models, is a bad move, getting harder to unlock screen with on hand

Hehe... Yeah everyone feels the same about the fingerprint sensor. But, as we have Iris Scanner, we may not prefer fingerprint scanner everytime.
We have to change our ways to handle our phone for different purposes. Thats what they think.
16MP of the same camera would've been better or if not, a dual Camera setup (which is something new and is the trend now).
As the processor is built on 10nm, the power consumption will be low. That's why they ended up being the same mAh (also due to the Note 7 fiasco & to make the phone thinner). Whatever the case may be, its not enough
After thinking about all these, most of us will stick with the S7.
Its better to wait for Note 8 / S9 for redefined version.
Will see how this S8 can hold up.
I'm upgrading, already preordered
pros:
screen
tiny bezels
2mm narrower than the s7
64gb storage
omg the screen!
software buttons
cons:
stupid fingerprint sensor location
stupid fingerprint sensor location
stupid fingerprint sensor location
stupid fingerprint sensor location
stupid fingerprint sensor location
i'll manage
I stay with s7...

Actually, I've just come from the S6. I was waiting for the specs of the S8 and am very much disappointed.
For me, the camera is the most important aspect of the smartphone, and they haven't really upgraded that on the S8. From the S6 to S7 there actually is a significant difference.
The small bezels on the S8 are nice, but for me not necessary, and the lack of physical home button and the horrible placement of the fingerprint scanner are for me not good design choices. I wear glasses, so I wouldn't be able to use the iris scanner.
It is just a S7 V2, for twice the price. Yeah, no thanks. So I just bought an S7 and plan to wait for the S9 next year.
I'm sticking with my S7 as well. The "Upgrade" isn't justifiable this go around.
Like others said, not enough changed for an upgrade from the s7 - the s8 looks really good but with a screen like that I'm worried that the battery won't be as good as on the s7.
no more samsung for me in the future. That KNOX sucks. who the fark want to use unrooted rom?
I was expecting at least a bezel-less phone, a real one not a gimmick, plus, same as others the specs are about the same to me, and after a cracked screen (in my pocket) and the way the support team handled it this will be definitely an assured NO. I'll wait to see what other brands have to offer for the next one.
I was hopping for a flat version edge just doesn't do it for me.
Is there any actual upgrade on the in display fingerprint sensor?
Should be Gen 2, so definitely faster and more accurate than the 6T :good:

Should be faster being Gen 2.
Should be disappointing due to still being an optical scanner.

6T has been pretty good for me so if it's even a small improvement on that I'll be happy

Unfortunately ultrasonic fingerprint scanner are much more expensive than optical even Huawei and P30 Pro got with optical and not ultrasonic.
I've heard that in Galaxy S10/10 Plus it's the second most expensive component after the OLED panel.
So in order to not increase much more the price of 7 oneplus deside use optical again but would be better implementation than 6T both accuracy and speed unlocking.
I would expect to be on par with P30 Pro and Oppo Reno performance.
On the other hand since BBK group having invest more than a year on optical technology evolving each generation every few months (We are now on 6th generation like on Oppo Reno has) I really doubt will ever use ultrasonic sensor near time soon unless become much more affordable to oneplus(oneplus 8 maybe)
But don't forget Vivo and Oppo are working on next generation that will work all across the screen without needed light up sensor)
That would be the ultimate solution not needed specific and very small erea like today both ultrasonic and optical using.

As per the rumor Oneplus 7 will sticks with the optical sensor like an Oneplus 6t. Ultrasonic is quite expensive, Maybe in the next series of Oneplus they can use USFPS.
This time the response time for the fingerprint will be faster than the One Plus 6t.

So, In upcoming years we can expect an Ultrasonic sensor on the Oneplus or an Optical which is very faster compare to this 2ndGen.
The FP sensor has 3 lenses and 3x optical zoom.

From where did you got this information??
Hi folks. is true that the fingerprint sensor is not so good when there is too much humidity and the fingertip is a little damp?

yup, consider your fingerprint sensor non-existent when "there is too much humidity/fingertips => damp.
This is true for optical readers as well (OnePlus 6T, 7, 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro). Just a bit damp finger => No unlock.
You can use...
- ultrasonic fingerprint readers such as on S10, S10+, Note 10/Note 10+ (as far as I know they work better with damp/wet fingers)
- face unlock
- voice unlock / pin / whatever your phone supports
Hi!
Fingerprint sensor on my Note 10 is moved to the left relative to the vertical axis of the screen.
Is it normal? Can someone confirm?
I am attaching photo of mine scanner.
My S10+ also did not have a perfectly centred sensor. I don't think that this is an issue.
I wouldn't worry much about it. It might just be the icon only moving around the screen to prevent the burn in. The AOD Homescreen icon in older samsung phones used to do the same.
I recently bought the following phone.POCO X3 NFC- Smartphone 6+128GB, 6,67” FHD+ Punch-hole Display, Snapdragon 732G, 64MP AI Penta-Camera, 5160mAh, Shadow GrayIt worked fine for six about weeks and now I'm getting the screen switch of during calls issue which I've seen commented on on this forum and elsewhere. I've tried all the recommended solutions with regard to the proximity sensor, but no success. Although I must say my settings don't have an option for the proximity sensor that some youtube clips are showing and I had to go down the other suggested route. I thought this problem would have been fixed by now. So does anyone have any new solutions (I've seen the previous thread)? It's pretty scandalous that they're still selling this phone when it's causing such issues.
