There are different models of Mate 8 (NXT-AL10, NXT-L29, etc) and different system verrions (for example, B165, B168, B170.) You need to provide more information before anyone can help you.

No i never did, but i updated to EMUI 9.1 and its notepad is back to how it was on EMUI 8.1
was going to ask to post the apk, but found out you can re-add the app via adb.
