I have done some searching on the forum about rooting the T-Mobile version of the OnePlus 8t and seeing road blocks when it comes to unlocking the device, that was this spring.... Has there since been methods found since then to unlock and root the kb2007? TIA!
If you want to stay on T-Mobile rom you need to first get it sim unlocked with code/help from T-Mobile and then request a unlock token from oneplus to unlock bootloader.
Or you can use this modifed MSM tool to convert to the EU rom. But to be able to unlock bootloader you need to be sim unlocked (and you can only do that while on the T-mobile rom)
[GUIDE] Convert TMO to EU via MSM Tool, no SIM Unlock or Bootloader Unlock needed!

Thanks for the reply... I don't need to stay on t-mob rom. That being said how do i check if im sim unlocked? I suppose which ever way would be the most painless route to take would be ideal.
Also you can type this command adb shell
Code:
pm uninstall --user 0 com.qualcomm.qti.uim
then go into developer options and oem unlocking should be togglable.

what does it mean when it's toggleable? that the bootloader is unlocked?
I received unlock from one plus, inserted and unlocked the bootloader.
I'm on 11.0.13.15.KB09CB.
Spent 4 hours getting twrp on & now can't load the custom boot img created in it from from oxygen updater (local option is not there.)
Is the the kb2007 just not root-able now?
Have been reading about flashing international firmware through fastboot but am confused of that process.
I am using an KB2007.
Unlocking:
https://www.oneplus.com/unlock_token - To get your unlock token.
Command:
fastboot flash cust-unlock unlock_code.bin
fastboot oem unlock
select yes (reboot the device and wait for the wipe to complete)
Do you plan on keeping the stock firmware or an custom rom?
Assuming stock -
fastboot boot twrp-3.5.2_11-0-kebab-20210904-alpha.img
Select Advanced -> ADB Sideload
adb sideload Magisk-v23.0.zip (This depends on your version of Magisk or root pkg)
reboot system.

T-Mobile OnePlus 8T can now be rebranded without unlocking the bootloader
Here's how you can easily convert the T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 8T to the international version without an unlocked bootloader.
www.xda-developers.com
That is an article on using the MSM Tool to rebrand your device. You will need to install the Qualcomm Drivers first though.
That MSM Tool did the trick, Thanks!
Now Havoc isn't installing ..fails at the end on install from twrp and their recovery.
Boot loops.
Had to redo the MSM tool in EDL because of it from different attempts. Ugh.
Havoc, or another nice slim/clean swift rom is my intended end result.
Do all ROMs "suggest" you use their recovery? Is TWRP still viable?
How's that Bliss rom & kernal @Daystars ?
Should that be easy for me to install now at this point?
Thanks for any more advice moving forward!

I really like the Bliss Rom and Kernel, has all of the features I want. Good battery life and very very stable. Not sure why they didn't keep up with their listing in the rom's section though.

Yeah, use TWRP, otherwise you'll need to dump the payload and manually flash most roms via fastbootd

Not going to say all "ROMS" since that is an catch all. From what I have personally seen, if the "ROM" has an auto-update feature, it is going to use its own recovery.
Havoc and Bliss I think share an code base since their is some overlapping branding between the two.
Installing an rom from the zip file for the most part is pretty straight forward. Make sure you have the newest ADB / fastboot tools though, I had some issues installing things like Havoc and what not until I download the newest package from Google.

This tool won't work if the bootloader is working, you will need to flash something that break it (on moto g aboot or tz partitions)
I will be the first to ask what is probably an insanely stupid question... Would this work for flashing back to previous android versions on an updated phone?

No, only works if "emergency flashing" is running, and only run if the bootloader is broken
Even if the bootloader is broken intentionally, it is still not possible to downgrade from what I've read. 4.4.4 is locked tight, well done Google.

I think that is issue of motorola, google don't do the bootloaders and afaik, if you flash only system & boot, you can downgrade without downgrading the bootloader

I meant Google locked down 4.4.4 so tight that nobody has been able to root it. If we could root 4.4.4, we would all have unlocked bootloaders thanks to Sunshine. I would expect a phone running 4.4.4 to bootloop in the best case scenario if you flash 4.4.2 system and boot files only, most likely soft brick. Which is why everyone is saying it is impossible to downgrade.

So, google is bad for repair an insecure issue? if you want to root, unlock the bootloader, if you can't unlock the bootloader, buy a phone capable of unlock the bootloader, or found a exploit.
Moto G with 4.4.4: Unlocked BL & Root.
PS: This tool is for people that had a bad downgrading, you can downgrade from 5.0 but only if you know how to downgrade
How did I imply that Google was bad for patching up security issues? "Well done" means good job. The only reason I posted is to save people the trouble of trying to downgrade in order to achieve root so they can unlock boot loader. Not going to happen. I'm typing this post on a Moto X Developer Edition so spare me the lecture about buying a phone that can unlock boot loader. Lol
P.s. what is the boot loader version on 5.0? Most custom Roms out now doesn't even touch the boot loader partition so not sure what you are talking about when you said you can downgrade from 5.0 back down to 4.4.4. Of course you can if you didn't flash motoboot and gpt. I used to run 4.4.4 on my Droid Maxx with 4.4 boot loader (30.B4 I think) and with that setup I could downgrade back down to 4.4. But if I flash the motoboot and gpt from 4.4.4 then I can only downgrade to 4.4.4. Make sense?

If you flash 4.4.4, you can downgrade to 4.4.3 or 4.4 flashing all exept the bootloader.
The thread isn't about downgrading, so, please, stop offtopic here
PS: the custom roms don't touch the bootloader, the only problem in 5.0 is when you flash the OTA, the zip updates the bootloader, and you can't go back the bootloader.

My original reply was to Fadelight when he asked if he could downgrade with this tool. The answer is still, NO!
I didn't realize that the lollipop OTA is out for the xt1060, oh wait, its not. So only custom Roms are available and relevant to the discussion. It would be a bad idea to take an ota without undoing all the modified stuff first. Using your example, if the boot loader is mismatched with the system, 4.4.4 boot loader and 4.4 system and you try to take an ota, it would end in failure. If you are lucky, the ota will not install, if you're not, it'll install and on reboot you have a nice brick.
The point is, most doesn't have this info and I'm trying to save them from having to do the research or the time they spend using this tool to undo their mess.
Your reply with the lecture summed it up best. Get a DE or Pure or Nexus if you want to have UBL & root. Or else, just wait till somebody comes out with an exploit. But as of now, don't waste your time. You'll know when an exploit is available long before it is released due to the amount of traffic it will receive. Sunshine for example.

Yes, this tool don't work for downgrade, and tell him to the Moto G users, that flashed 5.0 OTA and he tried to go back bootloader to 4.4.4 and we brick their phones, only a few that only downgrade system get your phone working. The others will have to wait until a 5.0 release to add on my tool

Hello everyone.
I live in Brazil and I bought at the Aliexpress MI4C Xiaomi. I haven't received it yet, but I've already started researching ways to use it with another ROM than the original. The seller sends the device with google apps and multilanguage option. So, he makes some modification in the ROM, and says to not update the ROM officially on Xiaomi servers.
I see a lot of complaints about the Chinese bloatwares in ROM and so I wanted to install one that was good, but nothing with applications in Chinese or unnecessary ones.
My question is: in this case the bootloader is already unlocked?
In the meantime, I sent my request for unlocking bootloader to Xiaomi and received the SMS containing a link. As soon as I get the cellphone I intend to do the procedure. There is a risk of bricking the phone?
I’ll do appreciate good links with how-to and good ROM to daily use.
Thank you.
The seller shipping a modified ROM and telling you not to update the official would suggest your bootloader will not be locked. For now only flashing the latest official China dev builds will lock your bootloader.
Getting pre-approved for unlocking couldn't hurt though I guess.. just in case. You might need to have a working Xiaomi framework in your ROM to register your phone once though. If your ROM does not have the xiaomi services, I would suggest either Xiaomi.eu or sMiUI as a ROM, both are pretty much stock MIUI with some chinese bloat trimmed.
But most likely you will not need to unlock your bootloader anyway. You will need to check your bootloader through adb anyway before doing the steps to flashing a new ROM. You will best be flashing your recovery through adb, the instructions can be found through most ROM pages or simply searching TWRP Mi 4C. The command to check if it's unlocked is
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
A very extensive directory can be found in the INDEX thread, first in this forum.

you cannot check the bootloader locked or not by that way. My phone when checking this, gets the input "bootloader unlocked: false" but I can flash other recovery freely.
in his case, he is using a modified rom, it means his bootloader is not yet unlocked. Right now, if he wants to come back to chinese rom, he should use Mi flash to flash his phone. If he wants other rom like CM13, he should download the latest TWRP and the rom, put the rom into his phone storage. Then try to go to fastboot to flash the recovery, then go to the recovery and flash the rom.

Ah, that might be incorrectly reporting indeed. In any case when trying to flash recovery, if you're locked it'll simply fail and won't be harmful.
But why would you think his bootloader is not unlocked? If he's using a modified rom, it was probably flashed through fastboot or a custom recovery, both require the bootloader to be unlocked.
But even if he was not on a modified rom, stock Mi 4c have always come bootloader unlocked. Someone would have to have gone out of their way to lock the bootloader and I doubt any reseller would do that, they would risk a lot of refunds from angry customers.
I strongly advise against using miflash to flash any official rom unless you have no choice, since then there's a chance you WILL lock your bootloader. For now only dev builds are locking it, but the next stable release might very well too.
The first step should be to flash TWRP

The safest way is flashing via computer, using mi flash or flash twrp image. You are right

Even as a last resort to getting your phone working if you did something wrong, please don't install the newer official roms, it's the mistake I did this weekend now I have a locked phone with a rom that has force-closes everywhere and absolutely no way back.

No.
The only scenario where you would want to use miflash to flash a chinese rom would be as a last resort to flash the fastboot version of V7.1.6.0.LXKCNCK to restore your phone. Any later version will lock your bootloader.
If you don't care about locking your bootloader and the arduous process of unlocking it, you're easier off just taking all the latest updates OTA via the updater.
Hello everyone. Thanks for the help. In fact my bootloader was unlocked. I flashed twrp 3.0.0.3 and flashed the CM13 teamluminial, Android 6.0.1. Excellent. Thank you.
Hi!
Same scenario here..
I will receive Mi 4c with the Bootloader Unlocked, Rooted and the Multilanguage ROM.
But I have already received from Xiaomi after my request also the number for the official unlock procedure but now I'm a bit confused..
Do I have to unlock the bootloader once and for good with the official way?
Because I've read that the unofficial way isn't so secure in long term.
Do I have to install from the Updater the latest Cina Dev ROM and after that to proceed with the official unlock? Or it is better to use the Fastboot ROM?
Please could some one tell me in any case what to do ?
Thanks !
If you don't flash something that will lock your BL, no need to Unlock.
Ok first I must check the status of the bootloader to be sure that it is unlocked (via cmd control or cpu-z)
And after that can I choose an unofficial weekly miui.eu international ROM and install it?
Can I download and also update every week via Updater this ROM without issues?
At the moment my problem with flashing is that I don't have my pc (the one I have now runs win xp) and I don't want to stuck with the eventually malware or fully spammed modified rom of the reseller..
Which options do I have?

TWRP works perfectly. The backup is simply stored in your internal storage。
Note-
Applicable for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10
This will only root your phone with Magisk. and no other fancy stuff (Safety status may not be true)
If you need TWRP installation as well, please follow here
This requires an unlocked bootlaoder so if you have the code proceed, else it is available via paid services only.
Prerequisites-
Enable the developer option in settings-
Go to Settings--> About Phone-->Tab build number 7 times to enable this setting.
Go back in setting page, check for Developer Options
Scroll for the debugging section and enable the USB Debugging
You will be prompted for the confirmation with RSA key, just accept it.
Enable OEM Unlock in Developer Options
Please note down you build number, this may become handy in case something goes wrong to restore your phone via DLOAD. In Settings- About phone- Build Number
have your stock boot.img (Ramdiskig) handy from update.app file of your current firmware.
Installation of required Drivers.
Connect your phone to PC and install Hi Suite on PC and it will additionally install all the necessary drivers to PC and HiSUite on Mobile.
Download and Install ADB from Link
Accept all the prompts and install ADB drive system wise.
Once installation is completed, if default options are chosen, it will be under C:\adb
Unlocking the bootloader-
Backup all your data as unlocking the bootloader will reset the device and all your data will be erased.
On windows machine, go to folder C:\adb or wherever you installed the adb drivers.
Press shift+right click together and select Open command prompt here (it will be open PowerShell here on Windows 8 and Windows 10 machine)
Run - adb reboot bootloader (this command may prompt for acceptance of RSA key if not already accepted)
This will boot the phone into bootloader mode.
Run - fastboot oem unlock <16 digit unlock code > (This step will unlock the bootloader and will erase all your data)
Phone will restart automatically.
Rooting Instruction
Install latest Magisk Manager from the Official Thread or directly from here
Press Install > Install > Patch Boot Image File, and select your stock boot image file
Magisk Manager will now patch your boot image, and store it in [Internal Storage]/Download/patched_boot.img
Pull the patched image with adb pull /sdcard/MagiskManager/patched_boot.img, and flash the patched ramdisk via fastboot:
fastboot flash ramdisk patched_boot.img
Reboot and you shall have a rooted device
Credits- Thanks to @topjohnwu for Magisk.
@ante0 for his patience and guidance always

Boot to fastboot and check the phone status or check while phone is booting, if you get any message like phone is unlocked and can not be trusted, it is unlocked.

Is there a way we can reigate this process to unlock bootloader?
Is it possible to rebrand and then unlock using the oldest security patch for view 10 Lite firmware as THAT is basically the same as 8x?

Unlocking is possible via paid services. DC unlocker is the cheapest.
You can not rebrand and then unlock but it has to be other way around.

Is TWRP out for the OP7 yet? Or is this AIO tool basically still a work in progress (not all functions operational yet)?
I don't see the OnePlus 7 posted on TWRP's official website. Or on xda for that matter. I can find a couple dodgy "how to root" guides for the OP7, but they just look like clickbait. One just links to the TWRP main page (instead of an actual file download specific to the OP7). Another actually contains links for the OP6! Not just deceptive, but can possibly cause folks problems!

Hi, this tool has all function ready for op7 and op7 pro ( i'm only waiting for the branded unlock bootloader procedure). Actually for what i know there is not a twrp available, but in all cases the tool allow you to flash a third part twrp.img and not only the twrps in the list (I can update the twrp list without updating the tool, so when a new working twrp will be released i will add it in the twrp list). The other functions, like reboots, bootloader unlock,or apk installer/uninstaller are perfectly working because they are a bit generic. For the root is the same problem, the tool use the twrp to root the device so without it you can't root the device with the tool. This tool is available for all others OnePlus devices and i'm official TWRP maintainer for Op6 and Op6T, so when a stock rom will be released i will start also to work on the TWRP and the others features.
anyone got the stock recovery for the Oneplus 7?
Thanks for the good work. However, the tool fails for me. I have an unlocked bootloader.
Version: 1.1.1.6
1. MD5 check error after TWRP download
2. Skip MD5 check throws "unable to open zip file" error
3. Deleted all files and tried again - still the same.

Hi... I want to unlock my oneplus 9 bootloader so I can install the pixen os but I don't see any guide here to do this.
I literally just sent you those links here. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unlock-bootloader-oneplus-9-global-na.4448653/post-86929439
Stop flooding the forum with requests, this isn't a very high traffic place.
Saw your post and your answer wasn't clear... do I need to downgrade to unlock bootloader or do I need to downgrade to be able to install custom roms.

You have to downgrade to be able to use custom ROMs. The ROMs require Android 11 because apparently OnePlus posted incomplete/unusable sources for Android 12.
I don't know if the downgrade package re-locks the bootloader so I would just unlock the bootloader after you're back on OOS11. I had issues trying to unlock the bootloader after doing the OTA to the latest OOS11 so I personally would do it in this order:
1) downgrade to OOS11
2) unlock bootloader
3) OTA to latest OOS11
4) flash custom ROM
This still doesn't work for me. I have downgraded to A11 and still get the error "FAILED (remote: 'Command not supported in default implementation')" The device shows up when I type fastboot devices but continues to return this error when attempting fastboot oem unlock. How do I fix this?
Boot into OOS 11, unlock Developer Options, and switch "OEM unlocking" on. Only then can you unlock your bootloader.
You can also search "oneplus 9 unlock bootloader" on Google.
