File transfer to pc (windows 10) doesn't work with android 11 based custom rom (Only sounds when connect usb cable to pc and click on file tranfer option in usb preference in phone then also sounds but Device doesn't show in windows file explorer). It doesn't work.
But other option in usb preference like ptp, usb tethering, charging work.
I reverted back to android 10 to check whether it's my usb cable fault or any other problem, it again worked on android 10 custom rom. Then I again flashed android 11 based custom Rom but file transfer with usb doesn't work.
I think it is a problem or bug with android 11.
If any guy has it's solution or anyone's file transfer option working with usb on android 11 based custom rom, plz tell.
I have redmi note 4 device.
Custom ROMs - as name implies - are after-market ROMs, have nothing in common with Stock ROMs what come with Android device.
Hence some features you expect may not be present or may not work. Live with this.
You should also report this issue to developers of the Custom ROM you use, IMO.

I have the mobile in s-off and with root permissions, MIUI had installed 2.2.17, and had no problem to connect the mobile to the PC and the mobile ask me if I want to connect as mass storage or just load. Until a few days left to ask me ... Mac thought it would be and the same probe in windows, restart the phone and nothing. I tried to install another ROM the CyanogenMod 7.1 and the problem continued. Now I'm back to the latest version of MIUI I think it's 24 and still have problems. I tried to format the microSD card from android and pc / mac but nothing. To say that from a file browser in android if I see all the files correctly.
I tried installing a version prerooted but the problem continues.

Have you installed the required drivers for your phone? Just install HTC Sync and it will do that for you automatically.
(At least for Windows - I don't have a Mac so i can't comment on that)
I tried with HTC Sync and nothing. I changed the kernel version of a saga tiamat 1.1.5 (before had the kernel 2.6.35.14-cyonagenmod + [email protected] # 1)
............ UP!!
Have you tried to mount as USB disk when in recovery?
Yes. Nothing

A friend once ran into a similar problem. It turned out to be luck had run out on his micro-USB port. A similar problem I once had turned out to be faulty USB ports on my laptop. I'd suggest you look into both scenarios.
*I'm saying it's likely a hardware problem*

If he tried to mount on other computers, with different OS, and still no luck, then yes, I guess it is definitely a HW problem.
@pasteles
Does the phone still charge?
I have the same problem with my TouchPad, no mounting as usb disk at all, when charger is connected the charging symbol comes up, but the current coming through the port is not enough to charge it. So I think the USB port has some faulty pins. In any case, faulty USB.
You can take a chance with the warranty or find someone able to replace the port.
i ran into this problem a few weeks back also and the problem was a faulty usb port and cable........ i changed the cable and reinstalled the drivers and i was back to a working usb

Right, I forgot the part about the faulty USB cable. Most often, it's actually the cable. Then the computer's USB port. Unlikely (and worrisome) is the probability of the micro-USB port of the Desire S having gone bad.
I'm on Open Your Eyes VRBLK3,with rooted & Unlocked Bootloader. I was going to flash a ROM so I made a nandroid, etc. I went to transfer the ROM from my PC to my SD card via USB but when I plug in my phone it makes the noises windows makes for USB devices, my device shows the USB symbol in the pull down and says "Connected as an Installer". When I touch for more options they are Media Device (MTP) or Camera (PTP) and my device doesn't appear as a drive like it always has in the past.
What am I missing?
Thanks
Did you try Samsungs newest driver? I randomly get problems with usb connecting too. Usually after I flash a non stock kernel it kills usb working right for me. On windows 8 and 7

I found out that bluetooth is not always working in Bliss Roms. It can be solved by searching a Android x86 rom like 9.0 R2 that works good with bluetooth
And then upgrade to Bliss OS 11.1 by going to the advanced option and choose upgrade to Bliss OS 11.1 what normally not working with bluetooth if you just install Bliss OS 11.1
It seems that there is a connection between de Android x86 roms and the Bliss OS rom if they are the same version of android that can fix problems like wifi and bluetooth problems.

Yo, this is probably the best advice/option I've heard regarding non-working WiFi/BT modules in Bliss OS to date. Seems no streamer/tutorial has covered this route to solve these hardware issues when installing the OS, specially on the latest versions. I'll definitely be trying this on my HP Stream 11 laptop which has a Realtek 8822be WiFi/BT module. Now just gotta figure out how to make a clean install iso of the latest Bliss OS with the drivers working.

"going to the advanced option and choose upgrade" bit
the advanced option where, i've tried going from 9.0r2 installed and then booting a USB with bliss11 and there is not upgrade option, or am I just being thick.....(probably)

Upon usb boot and selecting the Bliss OS 11 iso from your USB, you should be greeted with several sub menu options. Amongst them, is the normal Bliss-os USB live option and several other debug options. At the bottom, there is a menu stating "Advanced options - >"; select it. On the next page to display there should be a few more boot options for "vulkan support, no setup wizard, and no hardware support". Next should be an option to upgrade or update Bliss-OS to the iso version you want (which you selected to boot from earlier). This will update the existing OS directory as if you did a fresh install in my experience using said option. I'd recommend saving a copy of your data.img file from your existing os's root directory so you can replace the fresh default data.img file with the one that has your apps and credentials for accounts, etc already on it. Otherwise you'll have to reconfigure the OS all over again and who wants that, right? The other option I'm aware of is the built in bliss updater utility within the system, but if you're on bliss os 11.13/14, it fails to connect to servers for updates to the OS to move up to 12, 14, or 15. In bliss os 14.3 though, I haven't had a chance to test it to see if it works as far as connecting to servers to update from within the OS to preserve your apps, accounts, etc.
Thanks for a comprehensive response, appreciate it

No problem bud. I hate it when others do that to me when stuff like this is hella' technical to understand/follow and most of the time it's just some snarky comment telling you to look it up in the forum(s) or Google; yet a direct answer would be much faster and save everyone else time responding and such and the issue can be tagged as solved,
hi, i have managed to install BlissOS 11.13 (Android 9) with Windows Installer : https://docs.blissos.org/install-bliss-os/install-from-windows-uefi-esp-64-bit, combine it with grub2win and i got working dual-boot win11 and BlissOS without the need to usb boot or make ext4 partition separately. The BlissOS work awesome, the Wifi/Bluetooth working fine, but i loved the BlissOS 14, it's slightly faster in my device (Lenovo Ideapad D330). So i tried "upgrading" by following docs here : https://docs.blissos.org/install-bliss-os/updating-bliss-os-ag-builds. Again, the upgrade went success, until i try to turn on bluetooth, which is failed . Any clue how to resolve this?
hi, i have Ericsson f3507g mobile broadband hardware, how do i make it work in bliss os for call and internet connection. Thank you
I have tried evolution x pixen os , carbon rom paranoid quarts 4 and I was not able to use usbfile transfer only stock rom is the one in which I am able to use usb file transfer any help would be appreciated.
Please see the attached screenshot .
When connecting my Mi 9T Pro (on a custom rom ofc, miui sucks) to my iPad Pro and then switching to PTP mode (which is what you’re supposed to do) I’m unable to see any pictures or videos, on any ROM including miui. My friend however, with Poco F2 Pro (Imi) on a custom rom that he built himself, it does work for him. He’s using the usb config from vendor/qcom/opensource/usb. I wanted someone to help/guide me on how I can build a rom with that same usb configuration (or implement it in the current rom that I’m using am maybe by replacing the file in /vendor partition?). Please keep in mind that I’ve never built a rom before and I really want this PTP to work coz otherwise sending huge videos is a pain!
Thanks!

Hey, I've tried that, on recent versions of android it's called "file transfer" but nope, iPadOS doesn't recognise that, it only recognises a device in ptp mode (
as you can see in this video, skip to 2:01 ), provided the USB config of that android device/rom supports it
