Hello,
I followed Hasoon's all-in-one root toolkit and flashed the included TWRP 2.5.0.0 onto my AT&T HTC One X. Now I cannot do anything, whatever I do, it tells me "Unable to mount /cache". Could you please help me? I can't mount the sdcard to the computer either, so I am sort of stuck.
Thanks!

I was able to wipe it. However, it still gave all these same unable to mount /cache error messages. The data is gone though.
When I connect the mounted device to the computer it still doesn't recognize it.
Thanks!

Does the PC not recognize that anything is connected or does it detect that its plugged in but can't find the driver?
What rom is currently installed on the phone?

Currently I think it recognizes the phone as a media device (or similar, I forgot the name), not as a disk drive. I am on a Mac, and I have Android File Transfer installed, which then tells me that the device cannot be opened. On Windows it couldn't be opened either although it talked about a driver issue. I currently only have a Mac, but from Monday I could work on a Windows machine again.
The ROM currently being installed is the original AT&T provided ROM.
Thanks so much!

What version? IS it already installed on your phone? I'm trying to find out if you require MTP drivers or not. Latest version of sense/stock Roms require MTP driver to access the SD card.
In any case I wouldn't suggest using any version of TWRP above 2.3.3.1
So, I would download twrp 2.3.3.1 and check the md5
then fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
select recovery from bootloader then try to mount sdcard with twrp.

I see, this all sounds like I need to wait for a windows machine.
I am not sure what ROM version, unfortunately. I bought the phone in December from AT&T, and it all looks like it asks for MTP drivers. I will try this with a Windows machine and then get back to this post - thank you so very much for your help.

Yes, you would need mtp drivers for the latest software version. They are included with the latest HTC sync.

Alright, I have tried this with the latest HTC Sync manager: the MTP Drivers however won't install. I have tried with the One X+ of my Dad (which is also brand new, so probably requires the newest version also), and it installs fine and appears as a media device in the explorer. Mine however does not do anything, and driver installation says it fails to install the driver. I have tried manually installing the drivers, however, it seems to have to do with the phone because when I disconnect it suddenly Windows 7 is able to install those drivers, and as mentioned before it also works with a functional phone.
Next week I will be back at work and I have a Windows 8 machine there. I don't have high hopes that it works there, but since there seems to be an MTP driver issue with Win7, maybe there's a chance.
Is there anything else I could do?
Thanks!
PS: don't use your vacation time to root your phone...haha.

OK, so on Windows 8 I am able to install the driver, and it does not fail like in Win7, but I still can't access the mounted storage. The message of the device is:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
The process hosting the driver for this device has terminated.
Is there anything else I can do, or should I rather get a new phone?

Yes, in fact, I cannot connect to the phone with this strange driver issue, which means none of the commands actually do anything.

Are you rebooting to bootloader to do the fastboot commands? In bootloader it should say Fastboot in red. Then after a couple seconds that should change to Fastboot USB. I don't think fastboot needs the specific drivers to be on the PC like mounting the SD card requires.

Well, when I turn on the phone, all I get is the TWRP interface. Mounting from there doesn't do anything. I am not in fact in bootloader. Maybe I am doing something wrong here!!

You are definitely doing something wrong. fastboot commands only work within bootloader/fastboot and adb commands only work while the rom is loaded up or in sideload mode in TWRP. It's assumed you know this prior to rooting.

Turn off the phone. Then hold volume down and briefly press the power button. Don't let go of volume down until it gets to the boot loader screen. Wait for fast bot USB to display. Then you can try exad's fast boot commands.

It should change to FASTBOOT USB if you are plugged into a computer. If you connected to the computer after you got to bootloader mode, you might have to press volume up or down to get it to switch to FASTBOOT USB Maybe this is the root of your problem. Have you tried multiple USB cables? Is there any crud in the micro-USB port on your phone? It's a little odd that the micro-USB port would break in a manner that charging would still work but not data connections, but I'm starting to wonder if that isn't the case.

I connect my tablet to my two laptops, one is win 8.1 and the other osx, neither shows any sign of knowing the tablet is connected at all.
it does not prompt me to instal any drivers, i dont see it in device manager though i could be missing it. definitely doesnt show up in file explorer as a drive. have tried switching from mtp to ptp and back again. I have no dea. The same cable when connected to the charger works fine, but no sign of life on a computer.
I'm trying to root it and get CM10 on there but this is stopping me in my tracks.
edit: i also just tried an older windows xp computer, no luck their either.

USB debugging has been enabled and disabled multiple times. Multiple reboots. I'm going to try rolling back the firmware from .10 to .8

You don't need to root it to install a custom ROM, you need to unlock the bootloader.

I wouldn't start installing custom anything without working fastboot and adb access.
- Make sure the contacts of the connector and cable are clean.
- Do the equivalent of "lsusb" under OSX to check if the tablet is detected.
- Try different USB ports.

Have tried five ports accross three computers on three operating systems. Two usb cables, and the use of the dock should have bypassed any dirty connections. I can try Ubuntu live boot tomorrow if it comes to that.
Sent it off to get fixed, they verified they had the same problem, waited weeks for a replacement part, they replaced it and sent it back. And its doing the samn damn thing. So done with this tablet.

How do you connect the tablet to the PC? Always through the dock USB?
Do you have the same problem when connecting the tablet directly? Undock it, use the original cable to connect to different USB ports.
when I turn the phone goes in a loop, you see the icon MI and fading and so forth ad infinitum, I log into recovery and when I connect to the PC does not see it, but if I connect it to go off in battery charger .... so I can not load any roms, I must have inadvertently deleted the backup, what I have left to do? you can restart it from off to load rom. Although part in fastboot sees no connection with Pc. I have to throw it away?
usb driver issue.
tried installing at least fastboot drivers?

When you have installed TWRP recovery you can backup your SD Card via USB and maybe flash a fastboot rom after this.
I have already installed TWRP but I can not establish dialogue between mi4i and PC. I tried with fastboot by phone and Miflash but the phone to answer and after a few seconds goes into battery charger. I think the problem are not good drivers. can you give me a good linck to download drivers?
I tried with two PCs, one win 10:01 win 7 but nothing
thank you
My phone is not recognized by any computer even if it's in download mode, I have twrp, and I am willing to do the nandroid backup method, the question is, if this process failed for any reason, would I be able to get a previous working status that I am on right now?
I am on a custom ROM LeeDroid Nougat 7.1 and latest TWRP.
Please advise me on how to get my phone working normally as it was, thanks.

Yes, the USB debugging is enabled and also the MTP is mounted as well, but how do I check to update the sdk tools?
If you are talking about the computer, I think the issue is in the phone, and that's because when I discovered this issue I noticed that when I connect my original charger, it was telling me Charging Rapidly, and now ain't say so but still charging well.
Your response is much appreciated.

I have tried everything you can imagine, different cables, different ports and even different computers (desktop and laptop) I think the issue is in my device as it used to write rapidly charging while connected to the DC charger with the original cable and tried multiple ones with no success, it still charge well but I think something is missing in recognition the device USB, I am totally lost the connectivity between my phone and the computer even if I am in the download mode and/or recovery mode.
Any further ideas would be much appreciated.
I have found a thread that posted document for RUU installation and that includes Nandroid backup recovery file which is doable for me to copy the file into the recovery folder and to do the restore from the recovery (TWRP latest version) this file has a stock firmware for Oreo version, but I am not sure if I proceed with this what would happen as I mentioned earlier, I have no connection between my device and any computer which is mandatory to recover the device from any brick could happen, I need a confirmation on this step (Nandroid restore) so I can check, thanks in advance.

Yes indeed, I have tried it 1st thing but it was useless, because whenever I connect my phone to the computer it gives me error "The USB is malfunctioned and won't work properly" something like that, it gives me this error once I connect my device.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Situation:
Everything is formatted and wiped. There is no OS/ RedWolf is there now. I press any key, either Volume plus/ volume down with power key or anything, I can only go into fastboot mode. That's it.
Now, I installed Minmal ADB and Fastboot, drivers, and everything, so that I can flash RedWolf again.
The thing is:
My Xiomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is connected to HP Win 10 using USB cable. Minimal ADB and Fastboot command prompt is opened. I entered "fastboot devices" command. Nothing is showing. So I restarted the phone. So it detected again. I immediately enterd the same command again. Deviced is showing. "c6165464". I again entered the same command. Now. ???????? fastboot is showing. and third time onwords empty showing.
So it is getting disconnted automatically. What should I do?
I am facing same problem with my realme 5 pro device. Is their any solution of it . Why it is shown?????? Fastboot and next time I put command then it shows no. And then if I put sma command or any other it gets disconnected . What should I do now?
Maybe you got a faulty cable or a faulty USB. Either try with a different cable or a different computer.
