Can LineageOS 18.1 run on a Google Pixel G-2PW2400? If so, how can I root it and install LineageOS 18.1? - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

I am using a Google Pixel G-2PW2400. In this forum, there already exists a thread that deals with this kind of phone.
First of all: Is it possible to root it at all?
And second: What kind of ROM would be suited for it? It is currently running on Android 10 but I would like to upgrade it to Android 11.
I would prefer to use LineageOS 18.1. Could this version of LineageOS 18.1 run on this device? And what TWRP version do I need?

The model number you entered doesn't exist. I'm assuming you're referring to G-2PW4200; the international Pixel XL version?
Yes, it's possible to unlock your bootloader and root your device. Unlike other devices, all custom ROM's are compatible with USA and international Pixel's. Just be sure to download the version that's specific to your device (i.e. Pixel (sailfish) and Pixel XL (marlin)).
It comes down to personal preference when it comes to choosing ROM's but it seems like you've already answered your own question. I don't have much experience with using other ROM's besides LineageOS and Pixel Experience but I think LineageOS feels more stable.
I would recommend installing official ROM's over unofficial if you don't want to loose any functionality and want stability, LineageOS 17.1.

Is (was) CM and OxygenOS officially supported by OnePlus?

Hello,
i am new too oneplus one, i am bit confused. Was cyanogenmod up to version 13.1.2 officially supported by the manufacturer? Later they released an other OS called "OxygenOS" but as i can see, CM was longer supported and had more updates. And it stoped with Android 6.0.1, officially?
So the manufacturer supported 2 OS Versions officially?
Just asking, cause i want to sell my second Oneplus one and the buyer wants an official stock rom. Right now i have it on the latest (supported?) CM 13.1.2.

You're better off with cos13.1.2,just sell your device. And tell him to check XDA if he decides to upgrade to Nougat unofficially.
But is it an official OS which (was) supported by the manufacturer?
Yes, the OPO shipped with COS and got official support and updates up to COS 13.1.2. The software support was up to Cyanogen inc which has now shut down (I mean check the bottom back part of your phone and you'll see the branding).

Newer devices don't have the branding.
OnePlus one sets sold in China came with Color OS instead of CyanogenMod. So these sets did not have the CyanogenMod brand name at the back.
Just install CyanogenOS (not CyanogenMOD). It was officially supported by the manufacturer.
6.0.1 to 7.1.2
My OnePlus One was bought recently with Android 6.0.1 and Cyanogen OS version 13.1-ZNH2KAS1kN. I have rooted it and have been searching for some time to see if there are prerequisites involved before flashing a current ROM (7.1)? One other devices there are upgrade processes but for the life of me cannot find any threads on this subject....

I have been reading Heisenbergs threads for hours, I used his method for rooting but still do not see an answer to my question in them. I just installed [ROM][LineageOS][Android 6.0.1] TugaPower M104.0 and now I have a blank screen guess I'll go back to factory image then...

Google-less replacement for Oxygen?!

Is there a package that is Android or Linux based that will work with the OnePlus 8t yet?
I have a OnePlus 8T popup unlocked version.
Thanks.
The chinese version of the Rom hydrogen OS comes without any google services what so ever. But probably have some chinese bloatware instead.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed.

Thanks for the reply. I see that LineageOS is probably the way to go. Would you wait for the official version to be compatible with the 8T or give the one posted by LuK1337 a shot? I haven't done any rooting or modding since 2012 or so.

I haven't done any custom roms on any of my devices since 2014-2015 so can't really give you any advice there. Unless I needed a super stable phone and would be reluctant to wipe it and start over any time soon. I would probably give the unofficial one a spin for a few days and see if I find it stable enough for use. There is no way to know when a official one will be released.
The oneplus phones are almost imposible to hard brick though. As there are official unbrick/MSM tools avaible in case anything go wrong. So in worst case you can just roll back to oxygenOS again (but it will wipe your phone completely)
There might also be other alternative custom roms that might be google free. Even though there isn't much custom roms released for the Oneplus 8T yet.
Rooting is a most for me (I used the oneplus 8T unrooted for 2½ day, which is a new record for me. Can't really live without the possibilities that root gives me).

OnePlus 7 - HydrogenOS or LineageOS without GAPPS

I bought a OnePlus 7 (GM1900) China Version. But, when it was sold to me. It already had OxygenOS on it with Google Apps. Now, I want an OS that does not have Google Apps. I found the official HydrogenOS at https://www.oneplus.com/cn/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574150159914. It is Android 11.
I was wondering if there is a collection of the different official Hydrogen builds. I was not wanting Android 11. I was thinking of trying to stay with Android 10.
I know that there is a LineageOS 17.1 for this phone as well. Any thoughts as to whether to use LineageOS or HydrogenOS are greatly appreciated. My main thing is no GAPPS.
I am also interested in call recording too.

Curious as to what you found out about Hydrogen on your OP7. I'm looking into this for my OP7Pro. I too don't want Gapps and will use MicroG instead.
I didn't do anything yet. It still has Oxygen on it with GAPPS.
But, I did get a Pixel 4XL with LineageOS 17.1 (Without GAPPS) on it. I got it from Brax.Me
It's pretty good. I just think a Chinese phone with the original OS, shouldn't have GAPPS on it.
I guess I could flash this Hydrogen ROM to it and see how it goes.
I think I would also need root access too. Because, I want call recording.

Custom rom vs Stock?

It's the first time since i bought Oneplus 8T that i haven't installed custom rom + root day1. I have the phone since summer. I want to know if it's worth to install a custom rom or not, and why?
Also, can you install most custom roms without rooting?
I guess i need a unrooted phone cause i use many banking apps.
Last question. I don't see many posts at this thread. It's cause people nowadays don't playing with custom roms as they used to be, Oneplus 8T maybe it's an old phone, or people talking about custom rom to other places like telegram?
I remember the Oneplus 5/5T topic was full of posts.
1. Depends on what you want. If you don't care about oos cam.
2. Yes there are Custom Roms that support banking apps.
3. You can also use magisk if you want root and also use banking apps.
4. Yeah most discussion ls are on telegram.
What's oneplus 8t telegram?
Have been using my 8T with custom ROMs since pretty much day 1. I had the best experience with the official LineageOS 18.1 build. Works like a charm, doesn't come with any Google spyware and can of course be used without root. I recently switched to the new Android 12 crDroid, which looks pretty stable too. Again, no Google and nobody is forcing you to root there.

Converting to international/rooting KB2007 and ROM support

I've had a T MO KB2007 for some time (both sim and bootloader unlocked). My daily driver is a Google Pixel 7 running GrapheneOS with root and I'd like to use my 8T+ for NetHunter/pen testing.
I'm trying to find the simplest route to running LineageOS with root and working 5G accommodating the latest patches/firmware and a reliable, tested route.
I'll maintain the guide/information instead of the several here on varying versions/methods in a super thread. I'll also maintain the stock firmware, etc. I want to differ as to not brick using other 8T models.
Details:
Unlock status: Both SIM and bootloader
OOS: 13
Security patch: Feb 5, 2023
Version: KB2007_11_F.46
My questions are the following, as some guides have changed since my last attempt a year ago:
What is the simplest route to go from T MO to rooted international with 5G and dual SIM?
Simplest way to root?
Any special considerations for LineageOS? I remember there were some modifications as KB2007 is no longer under supported for kebab from LineageOS.
Any help would be appreciated, id prefer to not buy a different phone for pentesting.
Cheers!
