I bought an edge s several months ago and recently changed the os from the chinese version to the retail version (I found a link to the files in this forum)
I noticed that power consumption in my device has increased, is it just me or is it an actual phenomenon associated with the retail version of the os?, or maybe it has to do with the fact that I unlocked the bootloader?...

Hi friends,
I've just owned my first smartphone since October and it's a Moto XT1032 (single sim, running Kitkat 4.4.2, don't know if it's an European or US version). Yesterday I, a newbie, tried to upgrade it to Lollipop 5.0.1 Google Play Edition by following this tutorial (THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO FLASH GPE LOLLIPOP OTA 5.0.1 on XT1032/XT1033/XT1034 with ROOT http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/gpe-ota-lrx21z-5-0-1-xt1033-xt1032-t2969847). I succeeded, but I've notice some changes:
1. All Motorola's exclusive apps are missing :crying:, including Motorola Gallery, Motorola Camera, Motorola FM Radio. Very sad . Now I understand what GPE means, but it's too late.
2. There's no Motorola logo animation when the phone starts up anymore. Now it's just some colorful dots flying.
3. Most important, after powering off the phone and starting charging it, I notice that the screen does not completely turn off, unlike when I used Motorola's stock firmware, the screen was completely turned off while charging if I powered off the phone before charging.
My questions are:
* Q1: Is that normal if the screen doesn't turn off completely while charging? I'm afraid it can damage the screen in long term as well as lengthen charging time (as the screen still works while charging).
* Q2: In the near future, do you think there will be any Motorola genuine Android 5.0 which I can re-upgrade my firmware? I like Motorola Camera and FM radio. If there's any, can I re-upgrade?
Please help and sorry for my novice description.

Hi! I have the US-XT1032 (non-GPe).
Currently I'm satisfied with the GPe 5.0.1 because Motorola's 5.0.2/5.0.1 is still a few weeks away, and none of the 5.0.x custom ROMs are fully functional/stable yet.
When the "full factory image/firmware" from motorola, for 5.0.2 will arrive, I'll flash that.
Till then I have no regrets, converting to GPe.
I'd suggest, just enjoy pure google experience for a few more weeks, and then you too can do what I'm planning to do.
Downgrading is strictly not recommend. (also, it hasn't got much benefits as of now)
Yes, the screen remains ON during offline charging. Not an issue for me, as I (almost) never do offline charging, since last 3 years. I'm too impatient to keep my phone off.
Sent from my XT1032 using XDA Free.

 That's a good news. I'm following what you've suggested. As of now what makes me concern the most is about the screen not fully turned off while charging. Just hope it's OK.
Hello,
My wife's S6 just received Marshmallow last week. We're on Straight Talk service on AT&T's network and everything was working fine up until Wednesday night. First, her phone went from 45% to dead in the span of an hour. Then the next day she had issues with her mobile data where she had no connection. We deleted/reloaded APN settings but that didn't fix it. I have the same service on my Nexus 6p and the same settings and mine works like a champ.
I did notice that her Android OS was consuming 45% of her battery and without any idea how to fix it I went ahead and performed a factory reset, twice. She still has excessive battery drain (70%-40% in 5 minutes), she no longer has mobile data, and her cellular/texts work sporadically; however Android OS is now under control. She now has cellular standby eating up 30% of her battery and app optimization was at 28% (This could have been due to reinstalling all her apps). I would like to say it's a hardware issue but seeing as how multiple people are having some of the same issues I think it's an actual problem with her update.
Is there any way to fix this without going back to Lollipop? If that is my only option where is the best place to find a legit version?
Here are her phone's specs:
Model: SM-G920T
Android Version: 6.0.1
Android Security Patch Level: May 1, 2016
Baseband version: G920TUEU3DPD6
Kernel Version: 3.10.61-7610624

Look, I'm going to tell you this straight.
Marshmallow has had a lot of problems.
Just scrolling through a few threads reveal most of peoples problems come from after updating to M. My S6 is completely untouched, in fact, the battery life is better.
Google released M way too early without testing it with their lab devices enough. Too many bugs, too many things missing. My best guess is uninstall any apps your wife got recently and if that doesn't work, carry a cheap power bank until Google releases an update.
I was able to downgrade to 5.1.1 and it solved her battery issue, but not her mobile data. I called Samsung and we're going to get it serviced to see if they can fix whatever is wrong. What I find funny/frustrating is that any time a new version of Android is released (and lately apple too) there are always tons of problems with battery life and other issues. You figure they'd get it right one of these days.
I upgraded to M just over 2 weeks ago & my battery life/phone experience is excellent. I was also reluctant to update, but no regrets at all in hindsight. My advise: Watch out for OTA updates - rather download new firmware & use Odin to flash.
Head on over to good ol' Sammobile and download the latest firmware for your carrier and then follow the instructions to flash. Perhaps that might help.
Just wanted to provide an update. We just got the phone back from Samsung. They ended up replacing the motherboard and that fixed the issue with no mobile data. Also, the new motherboard may have fixed the battery drain issue. It's a little too early to tell but battery drain appears normal for now.
Hello
I have UMI ROME MTK6753 Octa Core 64Bit 4G
From about 1 week, the phone turns off suddenly even if the battery level is above 90 % .
Even not hold a charge even if it is connected to the charger .
I bought the phone in January.
I Wind operator .
For six months there have been no problems .
Suggestions ?
Stefano
Same here.
Which firmware are you on? I have two Umi Rome phones, one on 3.03 and another on 3.04, and neither have this issue. I suggest you go to the umidigi forum to get the latest version (currently 3.05)
I ordered a new battery. Now it works fine...I hope for almost a year...
Hi.
Same here, bought a new one!!!
Firmware 3.01.
Now i have another UMI Rome problem!!!
Everything i touch on the display, do another process, menu or letter!!!
Made a factory reset and stays the same shi...
Thanks.
I had the same problem with my UMI Rome. Noticed the charge dropping very quickly, or the phone randomly shutting down and then after re-enabling the smartphone it was like 40%. Also, battery got a little swollen and I got a new one. It's working but the battery life / time on is not as good as was the stock one (even though it looks 1:1 the same).
I am on Firmware 3.04, updated via UMI software.
I also have a problem with the touchscreen, it's like its getting inaccurate, I have to press way lower than I actually need (like press below a big button to actually click on it). I have to look into recalibration.
On another note (sorry for a bit of an offtopic), anyone tried unrooting / magisk / phh's su to successfully play Pokemon GO? I haven't updated since their 0.35 version because I heard of the root checks and now that they enforced 0.39, I'm looking for a way to play it...
I am really unhappy with the UMI Rome, they promissed way more than they delivered. Battery life since the beginning wasn't satisfactory, now it's super bad. Screen isn't amoled, and there are multitouch and generally touch issues... the metal parts get scratched very easily, the plastic case I got is lowering my wifi reception really bad... Everything seems wrong.
Hi, I just bought phone on the local ebay version site and I have a problem. I figured this is some kind of prototype or retail\store unit, probably not meant for selling. Anyways, the phone works ok, most of the time, but it has lot of games preinstalled which i cant uninstall, only to disable. And I mean heavy games like Asphalt, COD etc. Also I am unable to install any benchmark app, I cant visits some sites including xda, I just get some prototype protection warning.
And battery problem, its draining pretty fast, I cant get no more than a day of bellow average use which is dissapointng. Android OS, System and Phone idle are 3 top consumers, about 25\19\15% have each one. The order between these 3 are changing but they remain 3 top consumers most of the time . I dont think thats normal. I am running 7.0 version.
Is it possible somehow to remove this restrictions and solve this battery problem?
Thanks
Try using flashtool to flash a non retail FTF. However, retail version or shop version are usually pretty tied up, its to prevent people stealing them from shop fronts and selling them on.....

I bought mine a month ago in India.
And the bloat is same, with all the games and stuff, they can't be uninstalled.
So I purchased two pocox3 NFC phone at once, both can at once, so a Mr and Mrs have both the same phones, we have used for a few weeks. Now we noticed a big difference between the two phones. See image. Any help be great
It's normal that some are factory updated while some may be from a older batch. Since you're on the NFC Europe version you obviously have access to Android 11 while the other device probably has an update waiting. Just check for updates and both phones will be on Android 11 (12.0.6).
As far as the navigation buttons...those can be disabled/enabled on Full Screen Display - Show Buttons.
