How to make the OnePlus Shelf the leftmost screen again. - OnePlus 8 Questions & Answers

Hello, yesterday I switched from OnePlus 6 to OnePlus 8. And I was very disappointed to see that the OnePlus Shelf was replaced by Google Discover.
I am not completely sure if this is the right place to ask but - are there a any way to replace the leftmost screen with OnePlus Shelf instead of Google Discover. (using the ADB maybe or another Launcher / app)
From what I was able to find online people may have:
- toggle switch on that "-1" page to choose which one they prefer (Shelf or Google)
- (or) a setting in OnePlus Launcher where to enable the leftmost screen and also specify if you want it to be the (Shelf or Google)
I am missing both of them.
What I imagine is that there may be a hidden setting which can do that, and that can be altered through ADB and USB debugging. Could someone please help me find it? Or share another way to make the Shelf the leftmost screen again?

Problems in EMUI 9 Pie Update

Hi everyone,
I just updated my phone to EMUI 9.0 (Indian Variant) and i have a few concerns which i'm listing below.
Wifi and Mobile Network icons have been moved to left side. Is there a way to switch it back to right side?
The recent apps animation and placement(side by side like the iphone) is quite weird. Is there a way to make it stack like in EMUI 8?
When you open recent apps the screen sometimes turns blue. Is anyone else facing such issue?
The tips in new EMUI 9 is quite irritating already. Is there a way to disbale it?
How to access the subscription menu for magazine unlock in EMUI 9? Earlier there was a way to swipe up from the lock screen that opened it directly but now that option opens photos added by me instead of auto downloaded subscriptions.
When you use splitscreen Emui stop showing the recent apps list. I get empty screen with wallpaper. It seems the windows are there, because when I click in the empty space the apps switch, but they are invisible. (Credits Medard22)
Huawei and Honor have officially disabled support for Google camera in their latest EMUI 9. All who got the EMUI 9 will not get the taste of Google camera anymore until they will enable it again. (Credits Zenkilla, Irshad Wani)
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance
1. The icons are moved to the left on the Android Pie, you can't move it back.
2. This is also normal on Pie and EMUI 9, and also can't revert. The 'blue screen' never happened to me, I don't know why is that happening to you.
3. The tips will stop appearing after some time. At least they did on my phone.
4. From the lock screen: swipe up, tap the settings button in the right bottom corner (the gear icon) and unlock the phone. It will open the Magazine subscriptions.
I hope I helped.
1. Wifi and Mobile Network icons have been moved to left side. Is there a way to switch it back to right side?
This is because most of the phone launching with notch and Honor has started moving that icon to left. No way to move back untill a working xposed module.
2. The recent apps animation and placement(side by side like the iphone) is quite weird. Is there a way to make it stack like in EMUI 8?
Not possible anymore unless on emui 8 or custom ROM.
3. When you open recent apps the screen sometimes turns blue. Is anyone else facing such issue?
Nope. May a theme you are using is causing this.
4. The tips in new EMUI 9 is quite irritating already. Is there a way to disbale it?
It was there for 2-3 days then stopped.
5. How to access the subscription menu for magazine unlock in EMUI 9? Earlier there was a way to swipe up from the lock screen that opened it directly but now that option opens photos added by me instead of auto downloaded subscriptions.
As mentioned in above comment but in my case, when i opened i found it opening gallery and that's blank.

Same with mine....clicking the gear takes you to "images added by me" tab and not the original subscription tab

Here it is
You can also try this way to get to the Magazine Subscriptions: go to Settings >> Home Screen & Wallpapers >> Magazine Unlock >> Subscriptions

Looks like you don't have Magazine Unlock option at all. Here's how the Home Screen settings look on my phone. It is very strange...

Its being rolled out in batches. You'll get it soon.
Well my problem with he update is that function, where you could make the alarm ringtone grow louder over time is now gone. I always use very low alarm volume so that I would not get heart attack every morning. Got the update yesterday and the alarm was so quiet that I overslept. After years Google finally bundle it to the stock app and now huawei removes it. Now that´s a progress. Also having Honor View 10 I must say i don´t like the stock camera app. In EMUI 8 there were a handy swiping gestures bringing mode selection and settings, well they are gone now it´s now a bit more ... clunky.
How's your ram usage? I noticed before upgrade I usually have near 1.5~1.8gb free ram I think can't be sure I didn't screenshot it. Now I have 800+mb. Only diference between old android and new android is I add weather widget which didn't eat as much ram. Restart I get 3gb free.
I found a way to revert to the EMUI 8 vertically stacked recent apps, but it requires root. If you use Titanium Backup or something similar to freeze the Huawei Home app and switch to a different launcher, it will revert to the Android 8 style recent apps.
This is weird, because it's as if the Android 9 style horizontal recents is not part of the OS, but a component of the Huawei Home app.
I'm sticking with vertical for now because I was getting the same blue tint that you described on the horizontal recents.

That's quite strange, as mine is always 2gb free. See screen shot attached

Even i feel the same way now, but give it time to get used to and you'll surely like it.
Also as you said huawei removed what google made default, i have experienced similar thing in the smart unlock tab. Google provides a lot of options to unlock by location, bluetooth etc but huawei trims it as per outs own liking.

Even i thought that's the part of OS update, never expected it to be launched related. Although, i'm not rooted but i use a different launcher, so maybe i think i'll just root.

This is issue faced by only some users, so i believe we should make a factory reset as i'm about to do in the coming days.
Since you are having issue similar to mine, can you also confirm if you have the magazine unlock tab in the home screen and wallpaper in settings?
Is there any official feedback thread? I found some more bugs. Some webpages have problem rendering their mobile versions on Pie. Also the 3D panorama in gallery doesn't work. After you click on the 3d button it constructs the mesh then freezes Right now I'm not very excited about the update unfortunately.
So I'm the only one that wants to use gestures but can't because my case cover the Sides?

Disabling swipe up before having to enter your pattern/pin in lockscreen?

My current Zenfone 3 has this option, but I cannot find ANY way to turning this annoying thing off in Zenfone 6.
Is there any way to do disable this?My ZF6 is currently rooted if it helps.
Also, anyone else get annoyed with having to manually do auto-fill everytime watching videos?surely there should be an option to automate this also.
This is the way stock android behaves and ASUS doesn't want to interfere. Maybe there are some 3rd party screen locks and I don't think this feature will come out with an official update.
Instant edit: I didn't know your phone's unlocked. I'd search magisk repo for such module or try to find a systemui mod.
I also struggled with this once, and only on AOSP systems (Cyanogenmod and derivatives) were the options to disable shifting.
I currently have Asus Zenfone 6 and I am also looking for a solution.
I am also looking for the possibility of setting my own widgets on the lock screen but it's hard to think of something

How To Guide How-To Enable Two-Button Navigation on the OnePlus 9 with Android 11!

Hey friends! I don't know about you guys, but I really dislike the latest implementation of Gesture Navigation and the old 3-Button Navigation bar makes me feel like I'm stuck back on Ice Cream Sandwich! It made me really sad when Google forced all the OEMs to ditch 2-Button Navigation. Fortunately, we can now get it back! Even on Android 11!!
You will need USB Debugging enabled on your phone and ADB installed on your computer. You will also need your phone to be rooted with the latest version of Magisk installed.
It's a super easy process and all it takes is installing one Magisk module and an ADB command. I've created two versions of the module, one with the standard height nav bar and another with a shorter one that takes up less space on the display. You can find both versions of the module here: https://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.php?dir=Files/Misc+Files/Magisk+Modules/OnePlus+Oxygen+OS+11+-+Two-Button+Navigation
After installing the module, all you have to do is go into ADB and run this command.
adb shell cmd overlay enable com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.twobutton
Here's a helpful video we recorded that should help you through the process.
What is two button navigation? Don't think ever used this.

It's the best! You have a Back button and a Home button. To get Recents, you swipe up on the Home button. If you want to quick switch between apps, just swipe right or left on the Nav Bar.
Wait... Isn't that just the Pixel navigation?

It was available on the Pixel 3 but the official name was "2-Button Navigation".
Some OEMs, like OnePlus, included it in their Android 9 implementations but then they were supposed to phase it out with Android 10. OnePlus left the app in place but hid the menu option to enable it, so you would enable it with ADB. With Android 11, OnePlus took it out completely. The Magisk module adds it back so you can activate it via ADB.

Help with Terminology so I can Search

Hello.. I'm trying to research an issue (or known change) with my phone, but I don't quite know what to call it or how to describe it in a search engine, so hoping you humans might be able to either advise on the issue, or help me with the correct names of things so I can further investigate.
Phone: OnePlus 8T - upgraded to Android 12. After upgrading, my notifications no longer let me go straight to an app. I'll use Gmail for example. Before the upgrade if I had multiple new email, I'd have a single notification. I would swipe down and see it, and I could one of two things. 1. I could just click on the notification and it would take me to my Inbox. Or 2. I could tap the little side button that expanded the notification and click on one of the emails to be taken directly there.
Since Android 12 upgrade, I no longer have option 1. I bought a OnePlus 10 Pro - it came with Android 12 installed, and I have the exact same issue.
What do you call it when the notification is inside the main notification and how do I describe that to search for it? Notification Nesting?
Is this an OxygenOS or Android thing? I will repost in OnePlus if I need too, I just didn't know where to start with describing my issue.
Thanks
I am not on OxygenOS, but on another Android 12 based OS. Look through two menu options: Notifications in the main menu and Notifications in the OS specific menu. Maybe your issue is solved via the switch Heads up.

Thanks. I am beginning to think this is exclusive to Oxygen OS, and that there's no way to adjust the setting. I'll keep digging

Question How to swap buttons, show network speed etc

Hi everyone,
I just bought the Pixel 7 Pro and rooted it. I am coming from a Oneplus 7 Pro and there are few thing I would like to change to make my phone closer to what I am used to, maybe using root or a module?
Swap back and recent buttons, I use the back button a lot more and I often use my phone with one hand which makes it hard to reach, is there a way to swap those buttons? (fixed with AOSPMods)
Show network speed in status bar, this is a great way for me to know when I am having internet issues (fixed with AOSPMods)
Change audio output device – on the oneplus I can stay connected to my bluetooth speaker but output sound from the phone's speaker just by using the menu that shows when I press the volume button, is there a way to do that here?
Is there a way to remove the widget at the top of the home page? I do not care for it
Is there a way to move the google search bar to the top of the home page screen?
Change the quick setting from internet to just wifi (I often toggle wifi on and off, having it merged with data is a pain)
Double tap to turn off on home screen (AOSPMods allowed me to have it on lock screen but not home)
Let me know if there are hidden settings or other tricks that I am missing to achieve these
Thank you!
1. You can't 2. You can't, 3. I don't know. 4 No. 5. No.
I hear you on the navigation buttons. My Samsung Galaxy S21U let me swap the back and menu buttons but it appears the Pixel does not (at least not without rooting or with a custom rom).
This drove my crazy at first, but I ended up just switching to gesture navigation and it's actually really grown on me.
As for your bottom two questions, I personally prefer Nova Launcher and I know that both are possible with Nova. I'll let others advise whether it's possible with the native Google launcher.
Root + AOSPMods (XDA thread) can enable point #2 and probably others.

I was wondering the same thing about the repositioning of the gesture buttons. Samsung allowed you to do that.

Do I need Xposed? I remember on my OP7Pro that Xposed did not pass safetynet, did that change?
It worked, with AOSPMods I was able to swap the buttons and show network speed!
Still looking for the rest and:
Change the quick setting from internet to just wifi (I often toggle wifi on and off, having it merged with data is a pain)
Double tap to turn off on home screen

LSPosed is required. Everything is system-less and I'm able to pass safetynet with the mods installed.
