[solved] North America firmware on the Global version? - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

Hello,
I bought this wonderful phone (Oneplus 8T) in Europe but it doesn't work in the USA.
According to this page https://www.kimovil.com/it/frequency-checker/US/oneplus-8t my "Global" version can't receive Band 71 (660 MHz) but the "Nord America" version can do it.
Is there a way to flash the USA firmware so to have all the needed Bands or it will be an HW problem?
Thanks in advance.

I bought the European version and mine works well in America. I'm on T-Mobile. Who is your carrier?
So, you bought the EU variant or the global variant?

My carrier is T-Mobile too. And the phone works very well in some places, but not where I need.
I am waiting for a confirmation but in the house where my daughter lives the only one band is Band 71.
Murphy's law, I think.

You can convert between the different oos versions without much problem but the band support can't be changed it is configured in hw, which we can't modify.

AT&T GSM Band Missing

Hello,
I have a question maybe someone has the answer. I live in the united states and my phone carrier is AT&T. I recently purchased the Huawei Mate 7 Model # MT7-L09. Its a great phone but is missing band 17 (700mhz) This seems to be the primary band for AT&T GSM. Is it possible to add this in order to use GSM on AT&T? Rom update? Radio update?
Thanks !!

Changing LTE bands

I purchased a Honor View 10 from Alibaba a couple months back with the international build (BKL-L09 8.0.0.131 C636) installed on it. I however live in Canada and the LTE bands installed in this version don't work in Canada. I just saw they finally released the View 10 a couple of days ago in the US and the band's will on the US version will have the LTE bands that will also work in Canada. My question is what is the US model of the View 10 and is it possible to unlock the other LTE bands?

I think you need rebrand your device to a US variant
I emailed Funky Huawei and they said rebranding will not change LTE bands. Unless of course they are wrong...
really? It's bad news for me. I have Chinese version view 10 already.

I was hoping it will be possible to switch bands with rebranding, I have US version and I'm in Europe
Rebranding will not change LTE bands!
A phone's bands are physical. Just take a look at one of jerryrigeverything's phone teardown videos and try to spot a long wire(s) going around the inside of the device.

Actually the LTE bands can be unlocked but not via rebranding but changing (or updating) the kernel. The bands are only locked to a specific region via software which is related to the kernel of the device. Rebranding only helps with receiving updates for a certain region but you gotta change the kernel.

I wonder if you can flash a l04 kernel in a l09.

I really don't know if it would be just something in kernel, but until EU version isn't on 8.1 we cant test or propperly compare kernel source.
We know Kirin 970 is capable for all frequency, because P20 is out only as one version for all markets,or at least for EU/US
Maybe with this way it is possible to rebrand from US to EU and get LTE bands

Did you solve the problem? I am in the same situation but with a P20 Lite
Actually.. You don't need the kernel
It's in the modem.. That's what dictates what bands your radio received.
It's that easy on Samsung.. It's that way here.
Wee used to flash different modems from different regions on the same model.
Trying to figure out a way for a universal flashing technique in these phones as most of them are the same with only the region lock and recovery check.
Since most of these phones contain the same modem, that's what needs to be done.
Trying to see if I can switch identifier in modems.. If I can fool the checks into thinking one modem is the same region for another
I have an Honor View 10 (global) that isn't working on the LTE bands in the US either. Is it possible to use the North American firmware and flash the global phone? Would that gain access to the LTE bands? Thanks.

I have a US Verson of V10 and not working LTE with some carries in Brazil... Works only on band 3, but here, the carries use 3, 7 and 28. Can you want to change your phone with me ? Rs [email protected]
So, did we figure out how to change bands on View 10 ?
I'm in Canada and using Rogers network. My device is bought from India BKL-L09
I have set the region to Canada
The LTE is working and showing
My problem is that the download speed is horrible (will never exceed 8 mbps).
I've switched my SIM in other devices and I'm getting up to 100mbps.
Any advice?

Frequency bands on Chinese Vs European OP8

Hi team,
It seems OnePlus is showing different frequencies on the 5G band for phones sold in China (IN2010) and Europe (IN2013).
IN2010: Bands 41, 78 & 79
IN2013: Bands 1, 3, 7, 28, 78.
Does anyone who if a Chinese phone originally intended for IN2010 bands are flashed the international ROM IN21BA, are the other bands accessible in Europe . Other bands being, 1,3,7,28 ect.
Or is there a hardware lock?
It's technically programmed into NVRAM, but the publicly found version of QPST doesn't support this device, so I don't know of a way to modify the bands.
1,3,7,28 and 20 are 4g LTE bands in France, so Europe. It's not 5g bands
These bands are presents on the IN2010 model too

Shame, when Europe starts using band 28 on 5G, the Chinese imported phone won't support this band then.
Also i recommend compare 4G and 5G Combinations between China and Europe variant:

Europe: https://cacombos.com/device?model=IN2013

In France B28 used for 4G LTE for now but i think they will transfer it to 5G like other countries. That will be low band 5G for many countries to build coverage.

Enable LTE+/4G+ in Europe for US model?

Hi,
I bought my pixel 4a in the USA last month and now that I am back to europe, I noticed that carrier aggregation is not working.
I found on google that on previous pixels, carrier aggregation only works for the region on where you bough the phone... so now, I am stuck with single band connection.
Is there any way to force enable LTE+/4G+ carrier aggregation / CA2 in Europe for an USA, unlocked model?
I don't have root... but I would root it if that means enabling that feature globally.
in Germany LTE+ is working out of the box. no root

Do you have the USA model and not the one released for EU?
And are you running Android 11?
I tried it in Portugal, UK, Spain and France on Vodafone and I couldn't get any 4G+ connectivity.
In the US I had no issues with LTE+ at all, only when I came back to europe.
eu model, android 11 stock

Resting Wi_Fi, mobile & Bluetooth...............or factory reset doesn't work I assume.
Maybe try this:

Thanks, but I am talking about using the US version in EU. The EU version will naturally work in EU.

I was hoping more for some mod perhaps.
I have checked that my phone is only connecting to one band, without aggregation.
It worked fine in the usa, but not in europe, so most likely, they lock it on the oem.
The bands are supported. I have B1,B3,B7,B20 available on my network, and they are all supported individually, but not aggregated.
It does look like the North American model is the G025J, and the European model is the G025N.
I do wonder if getting carrier aggregation working might require some special registration with the carrier though.
It doesn't require carrier registration. I have 3 sims and they all do 4g+ on my old galaxy note 8.
Pixel 3 had the same issue. They block carrier aggregation outside the region on where you bought the product, at the OEM level.
Maybe some dev knows how to unlock it on the software. I've see this for other brands.

Question US version works in India?

Thinking of importing the Pixel 7 Pro from the US to India since India doesn't have a 256GB or 512GB version.
Will I be able to use dual sim in India with VoLTE?
And will I get 5G to work in India?
Please help!
No

So VoLTE and 5G won't work and neither will dual sim?
Will installing the Indian ROM work?
According to youtube link, it may work but u need to buy unlock phone only and it should be bought with full payment with no emis
And regarding warranty only Google support would answer best.
5g update will be included in December with feature update
The model sold in India is GP4BC, and the one in the US is GE2AE. The main difference is the radio bands, but I believe it should work fine.
For example, the GP4BC model supports LTE band 32, but GE2AE does not. However, from what I see, LTE band 32 isn't used in India. In any case, carriers support multiple LTE bands, so you should be fine for LTE coverage with the US model GE2AE.
For 5G, GP4BC supports two additional sub-6 bands (75 & 76). From what I see online, these 5G sub-6 bands aren't used by any carriers in India as well, so 5G sub-6 should also work fine if you buy the US GE2AE model.
