Encryption Unsuccesful & Broken Buttons - General Questions and Answers

I bought a Mi 11 Ultra from Aliexpress (Global version & China Version)
I noticed after it delivered me, that it has Yumefone, and his ROM its too old, but the specs are 16GB RAM and 512GB Disk Space.
All was ok and good, until I decided to change the ROM from Yumefone to MIUI 12.5, and it was ok, the only problem is that the Recovery Mode, Bootmode and Download Mode keybinds don't work (But the Buttons works properly).
So, I just enable USB Debugging and I use an 3rd App (ReiBoot) for go into Bootmode (Because when I try recovery mode, it just restart, but don't acces to the files or explorer for reset from factory or something like that.
I try installing TWRP, and all work (I use Platform-Tools in my pc), and everything was perfect, until I forget to restore or reset from factory wiping all data (Last Step), and it just restart, and when I see that a message shown saying "Encryption Unsuccesful" and I search in Google solutions, and it just says that going into Recovery Mode, Download Mode or Bootmode, will work, but the keybinds are broken and don't work for acces these modes, I try connecting a USB to my pc, but I need USB Debugging option enabled, but I can't because It get semi bricked in Encryption Unsuccesful.
When I press "Reset" in Encryption Unsuccesful Screen, it just restart and it get stucked on Yumefone Screen, I let the phone some hours, but nothing happened.
Things I can do:
- Restart phone.
- Stay in Encryption Unsuccesfull Screen.
- Get stucked in Yumefone (Its the same that Xiaomi Screen, but with the Provider mark).
Things I can't do:
- Go into Download, Recovery or Boot mode.
- Enable USB Debugging.
- Do any keybinds actions.
Any solution? please.

Is it the Yumefone a clone phone:? Asking for a friend. if it is, then you're fked up..
I don't thing the Mi 11 Ultra comes with 16GB of RAM/512GB of memory
256GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 12GB RAM, 512GB 12GB RAM

If you bought the above phone, then you're out of luck.. return it to sender and buy the real one.
Most of the people who has this phone, has probably paid over $800, I bought mine for $1,000..

Sorry to keep telling you bad news, but you bought a FAKE MI 11 ULTRA..

Seems like you're not too familiar with phones, The picture below states that the phone you bought, it is a clone..
No Mi 11 Ultra comes with expandable storage..

Sorry, but I'm not here for discuss about if the phone is a clone, fake or other. I just want to know if there's a way I can enable USB Debugging, or enter Recovery, Download or Bootmode, without keybinds, and no access to the phone settings

He is trying to tell u: u r buying a FAKE phone, not Xiaomi Mi 11 ultra, and this forum section is about Mi 11 ultra.
And about FAKE phone, u will never find how to deal with it, because it just a FAKE phone.
In your situation, u should report back to aliexpress to get your money back. And last thing, never buy such a easiest scam thing ever

So you are saying that you managed to flash TWRP when no such TWRP version exists for the phone? Lol
Do you even have the relevant drivers to begin with? Are you sure that the bootloader is unlocked to begin with?
Your problem is your phone and the solution is to change to an authentic phone. As per advised by everyone else, return the phone and get an original lol. Your current phone will not be usable even if it's in an original state.
You ain't getting 512gb storage with 16gb ram at that price. There is absolutely no reason to go for fakes just to act like you can afford the original. You are better off with low-mid end phones that are original tbh.
Nobody here can help you if you are going to insist that your phone is a mi 11 ultra and again, you can't flash a random TWRP recovery and MIUI firmware on a random phone an expect it to work.
And if you're going to insist that MIUI is working or will work on your phone... Please attach a video for us.
We are not trying to be harsh here but your whole post ain't making any sense at all.

Thanks @ziotom2 thanks for sharing! Coming from the S5e this was familiar territory, although slightly different.
Speaking of the S5e here's a completely blatant advertising of my S5e debloat thread that AFAIK should also apply to the S6

Also, FYI, I've been very happy with the paid Play Store app 'CCSWE App Manager (SAMSUNG)'. Of course using adb you can achieve same results. Lots of guides available on xda.

It doesn't matter what the processor is. It matters whether the bootloader is unlockable, and it always is on the Tab Sx. I've been rooting these devices for years.
I'm also working on TWRP for this device, but I'm having a hard time getting a custom kernel to boot this machine.
Root happiness
So very nice to find out a way to have root on this new tablet. I came from a Tab S 10.5 running LineageOS, so a refreshing upgrade to say the least.
Tried removing Bixby using Titanium and it caused the tablet to not to be able to boot and hang on the "Samsung" logo. So I restored the magisk_patched file using ODIN and I hoping it would not erase the hours I already had into it, but it did. I skipped the step to reset back to factory defaults and I ran out of space on the device when doing my restore. So I'm wondering, does this have some kind of A/B partition scheme like the Pixel phones? So I did the factory erase in recovery and it freed up the space. So now I'm currently doing my Internal storage restore and then my Titanium restore after that.
So how to I install Samsung updates now? Do I have to use ODIN and have it erase everything each time?
Also hoping to use LineageOS 16.0 or another custom rom so I can get rid of this Samsung version of Android.

I bought the keyboard and I just hooked it up and I see that Dex turns the tablet into something like a Chrome like experience. That could make it very nice to take with me to do the occasional emergency IT work when I don't want to lug around my Thinkpad P70 workstation. I assume Dex is only part of the Samsung version of Android. If that is the case, then I may have to stick with just rooting the Samsung ROM. So I still need to figure out how to do updates then.

You follow John Wu's instructions on how to patch the AP file with Magisk. You don't need to erase anything at all when you perform the firmware upgrade.

Hi there,
Has anybody an idea why the bootloader unlocking isn't working with my sm-865?
I've checked OEM unlocking but the volume-UP button does nothing, when I press it. I've tried multiple durations from a few to 30 seconds

Do you need to load the recovery partition after every reboot of the device? I think the rooting is complete but I can't seem to boot from recovery partition. If I hold the volume up for any period of time it goes into recovery.
Reading thru the root procedures for S5e and noticed some issues reported where wifi stops and magisk/root is not enabled till after another reboot. Does the S6 exhibit the same issues/behavior after rooting?
Is widevine still enabled after rooting (Netflix, Amazon etc. HDR)

on new models, by booting, you have to switch on the device with on+vol up to start the recovery partition (not the actual recovery) in order to load magisk stored in such place. if you boot just with the on button, magisk is not loaded (thus not root on session). the secure storage of bluetooth and wifi connections are reset. So you have just to take care of each bootstrap.
by me no issues at all.

Hmm, sounds like a pain to deal with, however I will admit that I didn't really reboot my S4 much, mainly just quick power off/standby mode. Thus let me ask to follow up questions if you don't mind.
1. I assume once you do power on accordingly, root sticks such that power offs, meaning standby and not a full power down, retains root reliably?
2. Similar with Bluetooth and wifi, do the bluetooth and wifi stay functioning after correcting it upon reboot, meaning they stay functioning after each resume from standby? This would be my biggest deterrant on rooting if this was constantly unstable.
Thanks

1. confirm. root sticks.
2. I have no problems till now. You have just to ensure using the magisk module "libsecure_storage companion for rooted Samsung devices" to have the right retention. (this is necessary for note 10+. actually I didn't install in my tab s6 and my mouse and wifi is still sticking... so maybe is not necessary).

Did anyone apply GSI on Moto G8 plus?

[updated]
I consider buying a Moto G8 plus, or a G8 power. A disadvantage of the plus is that it only has Android 9, has not even received 10, and probably will never get 11. Besides, I read that Motorola's in general has a bad reputation regarding updating.
I came across the GSI/Treble topic. I have no experience with it. As I understand, it would enable me to the update to 11 myself. And keep doing that for later versions, or even 10 to start with.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
I found explanations like these.
Android 11 R GSI for Treble Supported Android device
Generic System Image
So my question are.
Is the G8 plus compatible to start with?
Has anyone actually used it already?
What did you do, is there a DSU?
Does it easily work? Did you run into problems?
How much did it influence functionality of your phone? For the Motorola part, GSM, other?
Thanks a lot!
Treble is supported by the G8 Plus, so if you can unlock the bootloader, you should be able to install it.
Unlock Bootloader code is available from Motorola.
Run a couple of GSI on other devices; Android 10.
Reluctant to try moto g8 plus. Carl
It is supposed to support treble project. But I must warn you. I got a G8 plus, unlocked the bootloader, tried to upgrade to Android 10 using a GSI rom and couldn't make it work. Not even with lineage, not even with the stock rom again. It is still semi- bricked without being able to make it work since couple days ago. There is something weird about this phone, all the things that should work and which do actually work on other Android phones , with this, they just don't.
EDIT//
I made it work again flashing all files from stock rom 1 by 1 after locking and unlocking bootloader again.
But i think for a long time i won't be in the mood to try and play with the system of this phone again.

I'm in the same situation. The most weird thing was that the GSI ROM from android official developers website worked. (but that ROM is just for testing apps on a simulator or something like that)
Even TWRP is not working 100%.. It boots fine into recovery but touch stop working after flashing into boot partition.
so I flashed back to stock rom and is running again.
I just managed to install the GSI from phhusson/treble_experimentations, but I had to flash vbmeta.

I have gotten lineage os 17.1 successfully working on my g8 plus with the help of a unofficial build from Andy Yan I think. There was also a Android 10 gsi build but it wasn't as great as lineage os so I flashed lineage and it booted right up first try successfully working with root and mauronofrios build of twrp working so you get all things working with the g8 plus but nothing has released officially. Hope this helps!

Yeah sure. Go to https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAAegQIBRAB&usg=AOvVaw26jTQFwtpMBNoOek36E-3g
And make sure you get the latest twrp build and download it, after that put the build on your PC and your phone. Then on your PC open a powershell or command prompt on your desktop (shift plus right click) put your phone in bootloader mode and on your PC do the following command: "fastboot boot name.img" name is the name on the build btw and if successful you should boot into twrp, after that click install and choose the twrp build img and flash it. After that reboot your phone and go to magisk manager and download the zip for root and go back to twrp and flash that and then reboot and you now have root.
As for custom roms just follow this tutorial I found from

The ROM plus flashed gapps (google apps) uses less ram then the stock ROM but it takes away motos core features including the double chop to turn the flashlight on and other things. Plus you can't use the ultra wide lense anymore and you would have to have a aftermarket camera (I use a google camera port) there is a lot of wins and losses but in the end I think lineage os is better than stock for the customization imo.

Hi everyone, first post in a long time here. Just bought an unlocked Tmobile Oneplus 8 off Ebay. When it arrived the back of the phone has the model# IN2013 on the phone but there's also a sticker that says model IN2017. Everything looks fine with the phone but it has a floating number bar on the bottom. Does anyone know how to remove this floating number bar?

Why are you covering the numbers? Is it the serial or IMEI number?
Using the ebay seller's photo as my screenshots aren't showing up here with the Insert Image tool. The floating numbers are different than the IMEI and Serial # showing in Setting >> About phone >> Status
Hey! I have the same thing as you and am wondering exactly what you are wondering. The difference is I have a verizon variant and the model number is IN2019. Did you notice a strange app called NXP Device Test Application? I did a factory reset and it's still there. I'll attach pic. I'm thinking that these are demo store versions and just need to flash to stock, but would prefer to know more about them before I do it.

interesting, and thanks for sharing! I'll note that flashing to stock may be a thing to try. I don't see a NXP Device Test Application in the app drawer though
AFAIK OnePlus internal ROMs display this bar showing the phone's IMEI to avoid leaks. All prototype and internal (secret_mea_X) ROMs have that line at bottom.
---------- Post added at 07:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:00 AM ----------
If you're interested in backuping the ROM before you flash to stock, please do that. Also check your ROM version if it starts with secret_mea
Thanks a lot for the information. This bar isn't the IMEI though... or the serial or matching any other information that I can find in the phone.
I think I'll back up in case in flashing somerhing goes wrong or isn't compatible. Now the flashing question. Can verizon variant, which mine appears to be, be flashed? I looked at the firmware on OPO official site and only see 10.5.12.IN21AA. Can this be flashed on top of whatever I have? This I assume is the unbranded firmware.
I'm currently running 10.5.IN67CD. Software version IN2019_12_200213.
Any good HOW TO's for flashing back to stock for verizon variant?
Thanks for all the insight thus far.

Sorry I'm not sure about the Verizon variant. I'm currently using the global model.
Is it possible to use this tool from https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tool-tool-one-driversunlocktwrpfactory-t3358711 to flash to stock?
I was always taught to stay away from ALL IN ONE TOOLS.... and I imagine it would depend on your variant. As far as I can tell I can't flash verizon variant.

Any luck on trying to flash stock firmware?
Found this on the OnePlus Alpha build bug report page.

The floating number is the PCBA number. Dialer code *#888#
Okay folks, here's the solution!
The firmware zip files already have the MSM tool zipped up in it.
Make sure to download and install the OnePlus USB device drivers and install in addition to the Qualcomm drivers from the linked site
For T-Mobile

For Global

No more PCB watermark. Make sure to backup any data you want to keep as this makes the phone factory fresh.
does this still work?
I've sent you a message OP, I had the same issue

Thank you so much for this solution! I’m in the same boat and only bought this phone because I came across this post before buying.
Do you have any tips for a noob on how I can get this phone into EDL mode as per the instructions you linked? Tried via the volume buttons and via adb with no luck.
The phone screen just turns black when I try to do it via adb and it can only be turned back on by holding the volume up and power buttons. Holding the power button by itself won’t turn the phone back on.
I’m trying to do this right out of the box, haven’t even connected the phone to wifi or anything, not sure if that matters. I’m pretty new to this and have been getting more into phones lately so I thought I’d try to fix this OP 8.
Just in case, sorry for replying to such an old comment, not sure if that goes against etiquette here, I just created this account. Would appreciate any help you can offer!

I wish I can be of more help. My phone went into EDL mode with the buttons. If I remember right, the EDL mode looked like the phone was still off and I think I had to plug it into a USB 2.0 port on my computer. Anyways, try all the different USB ports then try different computers.
Traded that OnePlus 8 for a Galaxy S21 several months ago with T-Mobile.

Thank you for the reply! I couldn't figure out if EDL mode looked any different since the guide I saw online seemed to suggest that there would be some indicator on the screen.
I noticed that a USB 3 port wouldn't even register the phone on my PC but a USB 2 port seemed to do the trick. My other PC has malfunctioning ram but at the worst case I'll have to wait until I get that fixed.
My plan is also to trade it in, assuming I can get it to work. Thanks again!

OK...I'm an idiot, never read the end of the guide, figuring everything was in order and I wouldn't need that information until later. My phone was showing up as QHUSB_BULK instead of QDLOADER 9008 in Device Manager and for some reason the drivers I downloaded were being seen as incompatible with the phone.
After running Windows update, the drivers were successfully updated and on the very next attempt, I was able to get the phone into EDL mode and it was picked up by the MSM tool. Just figured I'd leave an update in case anyone is having the same issue and wondering how to move forward.

Please help, Samsung A11 - TRWP problem

Hi everyone,
Recently I purchased and Samsung A11. I wanted to root it and unlocked the bootloader first. Than I used Odin to install TRWP recovery. Odin showed "PASS" and I was supposed to press certain buttons which didn't work. Phone kept coming back to "Download Mode" although I pressed those buttons. So I was stuck. The only option was to cancel the download mode, so I pressed volume down + power button for more than 7 seconds. That was the end Now the phone turns on until I see the Samsung logo, there's a small vibration but it can't go forward. It resets back and now stuck in a loop. None of the buttons work including Volume Down+Power combination. Don't know what I am supposed to do now. Can anybody help?
Thanks...
1. Add Samsung A11 to this thread's title thus mainly owners of such a phone get addressed
2. My recommendation: Re-flash STOCK ROM to get rid off of all mods you applied.

As I can see you are proud owner of a softbricked phone.
Take it to authorized service center and let them fix it.

Yeah, veeeery proud
I plan to let it die on battery and will try to see if I can turn on "Download Mode" after recharging. Do you think it may work?

it wouldn't ... usually the cause of bootloop is certain corrupted partition and as long as that partition is corrupted it would keep bootlooping.
if you doesn't know what your doing your best bet is Take it to authorized service center and let them fix it. like what @jwoubeir said
I don't have the A11 model but have used this on other A models that were in the same loop.
Press the volume up and down at the sametime and plug in the usb cable.
This has to be done within a second or two after it vibrates and before it reboots and will likely take a few tries. Good Luck

great tip work on ADB too anyway OP is provably using sp flashtool since his phone is samsung so this method would be rather tricky
Yayy, I managed to get into the "Download mode" doing exactly how @sammiev told and I tried flashing another TRWP file thinking that might have caused the problem but nothing has changed. Same loop again ! So I flashed the original ROM back using Odin and it's back live again Thanks for the help guys. But to be honest, I am still curious. What might be the problem in not getting TRWP flashing going right?

Used that method of a few peoples Samsung phones. Worked for me every time. It's just to get the timing right.
Sure you have the correct TWRP?

I tried again from scratch with a new TRWP file and the result is the same. Odin shows "PASS" but the "Download Mode" screen gives the error as in the photo:

The version I used is "twrp-3.5.0_10-3_afaneh92-a11q.tar"
I also tried rooting with Magisk without the need of TRWP installation. That was also unsuccesfull. Odin was PASS but I got bootloader screen saying Secure Check Fail : vbmeta
Here's the screenshot of Magisk fail in "Download Mode"
Can't figure out what's wrong ...
Have you flashed the latest stock rom to this device?
Was there other TWRP files for this model?
Is other people having trouble with this model?
I never worked on A11 Samsung yet
I would hate to give you bad info and have you brick your phone.

Following your advice, I managed to get into the Download Mode and I flashed the original rom. So phone is up and running now but not rooted. So I've been trying to root again first with Magisk to bypass the need of TRWP installation and with others which need TRWP installation first. There seems to be something blocking the flashing of anything other than the original rom !! On the link I shared above, there are other (older version) TRWP files. Shall I try them?

Usually the latest TWRP with the latest firmware.
Check my profile, your KG stated is ****ed. There is nothing you can do about it, there is abosulutly no way to fix this without unsoldering the eMMC and resetting it entirely. Some people on 4PDA had the same problem and found no fix. I was hopping to develop a custom rom but I cant as my kg state is prenormal. This mexican dude on youtube fixes devices with KG and FRP issues, but yeah this aint something that you can do at home. At least I learned not to buy any samsung devices in the future https://www.youtube.com/c/TeamOcmineMMCBootRepair
edit: nvm your oem is unlocked, you can just flash the vbmeta reset script via odia and everything should flash fine.

So what can i do to update the tablet? thanks
You probably have a "Chinese" version disguised as a global version. The hardware is the same, but there is a difference. You should take a look here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/check-region-unlock-p11-tb-j606f-l-n.4356451/
Or if you've unlocked the bootloader or become a superuser, you won't wait for updates.
Your firmware version is not here: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/lenovo/Tab_P11_Pro/TB-J706F/ that means something is wrong

I have an update of my problem... its fixed! but not with the method you shared(i tried it, but its not working for P11 Pro, at least on mine i dont have that hexa numbers). I used the official lenovo app for PC(yes, that app i said didnt worked), i tried it again and worked and now its on Android 11.
Well before of trying again the app i changed my country code from the settings of the tablet, on search i wrote ####6030# and i put my country(in my case Spain). I dont really know if this country change has some impact on the equation but... it worked
Well, if anybody its on the situation the tablet never update, do it with the PC app. If it fail try lot of times, one of them probably will work.
Just updated to the latest ROW firmware - TB-J706F_S620108_211124_ROW.zip (global rom) using LMSA. Just be careful in flashing the tablet. This will wipe out all data in your tablet and will start with a clean slate (choose language, connect to network etc). Also, make sure that you have the updated qualcomm USB drivers in windows else the flashing will fail or possibly brick your tablet.

In the LMSA menu, make sure that the tablet is detected and then go to rescue option. Just input the series/model of the tablet and the app will find the correct firmware to download. It is about 2.8GB after which it will proceed with the flashing.
I have an issue trying to flash with LMSA, it tells me it fails every time I try.

What is the error? Did you install the USB qualcomm driver? Also, there is a step by step flashing instruction guide like disconnecting the USB first, turn off the tablet and then reconnect USB simultaneously pressing one of the buttons ( if I recall it is the vol+ button). Did the LMSA app issue such instructions?
BTW, I used power-off rescue mode. Check it out in this link...https://support.lenovo.com/ph/en/solutions/ht102605-how-to-use-rescue-and-smart-assistant-lenovo-moto-smart-assistant-smart-device-with-android-system

Power of rescue mode I all I usually use. On my old computer and my old Lenovo tablet it just worked. Maybe I installed that driver on my old computer and forgot I did. We got a new PC for Christmas with windows 11. I can't remember the error, I will try it again.
Currently I am on an Android 12 GSI that is working fine along with finger print, the only annoying thing is auto rotate doesn't work properly but I download and app that I can switch manually so I will just stick with this and hope for an update. Rotation seems to be an issue on this tablet with Android 12 GSI builds.
