Question Firmware Upgrade - Joying JFW-UQD11N4G - FYT Android Head Units

Feel like I'm missing something obvious - what is the firmware upgrade process on for the JFW-UQD11N4G?
11.6" 1080P UIS7862 head unit.
I've downloaded the latest ZIP from Joying, tried to use the update app, tried to update via settings and saved as "update.zip" in the filesystem root, but that failed.
Any ideas?

I've found this which suggests it needs to be done via USB stick
Wondering if you can do it by downloading/extracting the ZIP on the head unit itself.

You need to post full details of the head unit, System information /MCU version.

Yes, you can. Unizp the firmware to a empty USB-stick and simply insert the usb-stick into the unit. It will recognize the firmware and start the update.
Next time please read the Joying blog where you downloaded the firmware. That exactly describes this process and which firmware is suitable for your hardware (This has to do with sometimes deviating resolutions like for Tesla like units)
That recovery mode is only necessary in case you soft-bricked your unit.

The instructions aren't actually on the page with the download. They were on a different blog page.
My question is, is it possible to do without USB stick/drive since I've downloaded the firmware update directly to the headunit? I guess not.

No, that is indeed not possible. It checks for an update on connected mass storage. usb-stick, sd-card via reader, usb-disk, etc.

I'm trying to update mine to android 12, I found the firmware blog but don't see the instructions. I seen someone say there's a blog with the instructions but I haven't found it. I've tried downloading the files and put it on an SD card and plug in the adapter but it doesn't start automatically so I assume I'm going something wrong. I can find any actual instructions. If someone can help or give me the link to the instructions that would be great. Ps after looking through I might want to do some of the mod y'all have going if it's easy enough to learn how.

Android Radio update MTCD_KGL RK3188

Hello,
I have a car radio on the Android MCU system version MTCD_KGL_V1.53a_1 compilation number rk3188-userdebug 27052016.
Can I update to a newer version of android, because it is 5.1.1 now?
On the forum I found MCU updates for KGL v.2.83. Where can I find a ROM for my radio.
I tried to update the MCU, but unfortunately I'm making a mistake. I do not know what I'm doing wrong. I downloaded the MCU from the site
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3246386
I copied to the card and changed the mcu.img file to dmcu.img. Unfortunately, it lights up the error.
I do not know if I should update the ROM first and then the MCU first.

I have read that if you upgrade your android system to the newer version; something about the GPS maps will no longer work. Not sure but you might want to look for that.
I have the same system A-Media Auto, MTCD-KGL_v1.53a_1
I found a newer version KGL_10-20-2016_1.92a_4_dmcu.img but I can't get the Head to find the .img file
I tried the SD card in the slot, GPS slot and a USB cable. Still System Update cannot find the .img file. Frustrated I gave up.
I did find that the SYGIC maps works good with the unit. I didn't like the IGO that came with it and wiped the map SD.
I also loaded Car Launcher v2.4.074 which is more appealing.
The backup camera is kind of squirrelly, works when it wants to.
Thinking about getting a new head unit with a flat screen, no buttons and knobs, but not sure if I want to go with a name brand or pure android version.
Will try to insert an image of my unit but I am new at this. The image wants me to put in a http url

T9 RK3318 Custom ROM

Hello, Do you know a custom rom compatible with the Box T9 RK3318 ? The stock rom is too ... Stock ^^ Thank you in advance.
searching too ;-)
I found a Android 9 Stock rom for the T9 64GB 4GB ram version of this box. Best way to upgrade it is by using a SDcard formatted in Fat32 and use the SD card using SD_Firmware_Tool_v146_eng_AndroidPC.zip and the firmware file name is 3318_9.0-TVBOX-Z2_0820.img Make the SD card with the program. Insert the SD card while the box has no power. Hold the button inside the AV port while holding it in. Plug in the power. Then release the button when you see the T9 boot logo come up and it will automatically program the TV box to version 9. The only issue I had was with playstore would not install the apps. But if you install them manually it would update them or using a phone or computer and pick what you want from playstore works it will download and install from there when you select the TV box. Also it will not connect to WIFI while plugged into Ethernet where as the 8.1 allowed both Ethernet and WIFI to be connected at the same time. I am currently searching for the Android 10 version.
Update:
This file is more updated. 3318_9.0-TVBOX-Z4_1025.img Then once its installed run the updater to get the next update to have the latest 9.0 installed.

hello, sorry for my English I live in France I would have a question about the box: TV T9 RK3318, 4gb / 64gb. the problem is that the time is desynchronized on restart and creates problems to connect to applications when the time is out of order, I tried everything changed the time zone to deactivate and entered the time Manual it goes out of order all the time . is there a custom version or a version 10?
As far as I know there is no Android 10 available for this TV box. If you want Android 10 time to buy a different Box other than a rockchip based one. As for the time resetting whenever the box is restarted this is normal it only resync when it connects to a time server on the internet. Not sure how you go about fixing that. There is no internal battery to keep time on it like a other devices would have.
Android 10 GSI ? Since the T9 was released on Android 9 and hence Treble compatible
yes no custom rom no Android 10, for now, even with an internal wifi connection sometimes she does not want to synchronize
Hello,
Before going further with this, if you wish to test those firmwares go ahead but you are the only responsible for your acts
I don't want any credits it's just to help ppl out, I was just testing the device myself.
I was also looking for a custom rom for the T9 Rk3318 but couldn't find one (in the box it was mentioned 3318 but when I opened the device in the mainboard it was saying rk3328 :/ )
I flashed some firmwares that I found (not custom) and finally bricked the box.
Then I did the testpoint and recovered it with two firmwares that I found in the link below that seems to be very compatible, all the credits goes to the owner.
https://cloud.mail.ru/public/PqyA/6YkwGagu9/ANDROID 10/
A95XR5_RK3318_Android10_2020-07-10 -- is working great
The one below I found it a bit slower but it also works
RK3318_DC_R1_AP6330_10_20200707.0137working
What doesn't work:
- original remote control
- display leds
...you can tell
You need a tool to flash them
-Rockship factory Tool
-Usb male to usb male cable (you can also find some videos on youtube to make one yourself)
you can find some instructions how to flash here:

This post helped me a lot, didn't have to search aimlessly and after flashing the a95xr5 rom its way better than the Z5 one the tvbox had before. It's still slow but man, compared to the old ROM its usable and not so damn sluggish. Thanks for taking the time to post this.

I've found an Android 11 ROM for this box, works amazingly well compared to the A95X and the sluggish T9 Z5 ROM. Here is a link to it:
RK3318_DC_HK1_COOL_AP6330_11_20210522.1453.zip
drive.google.com
WIFI works, only the front panel and infrared remote does not work. By the way, I flashed this ROM with an SD card because the USB cable I made was wonky and stopped flashing midway causing the box to not boot at all. It's simple, download the tool I've attached to this post and use it to either flash or just boot the img if you don't wanna flash it to eMMC (Haven't tested the SD Boot function myself but it should work)
This website also helped me a ton: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/17597-csc-armbian-for-rk3318rk3328-tv-box-boards/

Question China FYT flashing to Joying?

Hi. I bought a Chinese FYT head unit that look exactly like Joying...
Was wondering if it's possible to upgrade it's MCU to a Joying one.
I tried downloading Joying firmware however when I plugged into my head unit... It doesn't work like Joying where it automatically update the firmware.
The zip file from Joying consist of a big zip file.. after extracting, there are some folders together with another big zip file.
I went to settings, factory, and selected MCU Upgrade .. but it doesn't recognize any of the files within.
If possible I hope this community could teach me how to upgrade my MCU....
Thanks in advance.
My unit information can be found in the attachment. PS. Not sure why XDA don't let me attach image.

short answer, no. Note, MCU is not android.
You have latest mcu (53) = YIN. what is it you actually want or think the joying firmware will provide?
Suggest reading forums.

Hi, so my issue is that the UI that it provided is not to my liking... i would want to change the UI but the seller told me that he have no idea how to do it. my friends model... same but 10 inch.... has the option in changing the UI.
In my Factory setting page... the only available UI is UI17. I was looking at other threads and was wondering if TS10 firmware works for my device. The UI that TS10 provides looks nicer.
Sorry... but i dont really understand much despite reading. IMO its just a hardware trying to flash with different firmware... and base on the similarity of the device... i fail to understand the complexity in it.... (Im probably wrong in this aspect)
P.S. Im totally new to this and is trying to digest....
I'm not sure if your firmware will allow it, but there are other launchers that can be installed from the Google Play Store. They will change the interface and many of them have different themes that you can switch to. You can view them directly on your head unit from the Play store. Here are a few:
CarWebGuru Car Launcher - Apps on Google Play
Car launcher with themes, widgets, music control, gps tracker, and customization
play.google.com
Car Launcher - Apps on Google Play
Launcher for use in the car
play.google.com
AGAMA Car Launcher - Apps on Google Play
Home screen for car multimedia systems for Android OS (30 day TRIAL)
play.google.com
After installing one or more of them, they may ask you to switch the default launcher when you run them. You don't have to. You can try them and if you don't like them, delete them. I believe if you go "home", if will go back to your original launcher if you didn't switch the default. When you go into the settings, under Apps, one of the options is to display and define the default applications for different functions. You can also change them there. I use CarWebGuru and it looks very different from my original launcher.
If anything goes wrong, as a last resort, you can always switch back to your original firmware.
Just out of curiosity, go to Google Play and look for "Fake Device Tester" and check if that is really an Android 10. I have an unbranded FYT in my car (vertical Tesla-style) and it's a fake.
I need firmware for this car stereo I don't know model and name can you tell me please? Where and how to download?

You first should have read the documentation on this forum, including how to make a flashable backup of your unknown FYT unit before flashing it with something else.
And what did you do? Flashing the firmware or trying to upgrade your MCU with a Joying MCU (rule no. 1: Never ever do that !!!, and this is also rule no. 2 to 15)
Your flashed Joying firmware probably has in its config.txt the following line
Code:
sys.fyt.bluetooth_type=1
I guess your unit needs either 0 or 2.
The radio not working is probably due to a mcu firmware mismatch. Joying is type 43 (ro.build.fytmanufacturer=43). Your unit is probably 0 or 116, or some other value. Do you still have your orignal firmware with the original fyt.prop?

Hi to everyone, I have an android headunit that I found on the car that I bought that is slow like hell.

So I decided to do it from the recovery but I am not able to access it.
At the end I decided to update it but I can't find any certain firmware for this headunit, I know that is a sofia 3GR BUT with only 1GB of RAM.

It’s working fine for me. I only use it wirelessly, never plugged my phone in, I’m using CarPlay. Headlight dimming works too on my M300S, but I had to change that in the settings for the headunit itself and not in the app.

Not sure why but this version of CarLink doesn't work for me. I plug in my phone and it doesn't detect it. Only version 2.22.0107.1105 works for me but night mode doesn't work with headlight dimming.

What's your firmware version? Joying mentioned somewhere in May that you have to update the firmware to make it work with the newer versions of Carlink.
Other resellers simply add it to a complete new firmware to prevent these kind of issues. That's why @daviddosa took it from the latest complete M300S firmware.

I'm honestly not sure how to tell. The firmware is stock from when I got it sk I assume it's dated back to 2021. My HU's brand is "D-Noble" and I haven't been able to find a website that has all the unit's firmware. Searching on XDA, there's only like 2 or 3 mentions of this brand. The seller ghosted me on AliExpress so can't get it from there. I was thinking about flashing the firmware from another brand like Joying, but I was afraid that my HU's firmware is too "custom" and I didn't wanna mess that up. By custom, I mean that it looks like it was specifically configured to work with and look like a VW HU.
Edit: Just checked my FYT.prop and my FYT manufacturer is 94. I found an FYT manufacturer list on here and it only says 94 is "VAG". Sorry if this doesn't help much.
I just flashed Joying's 8-15-22 update from their website (just the kernel, no apps) and still no luck. I plug in my phone and Carlink fails to detect it. Still only works on 2.22.0107.1105.

Then I suppose the "support" for the new carlink is in the AllAppUpdate.bin. You need to adapt it for your unit before you flash it.
I can't help you further as I don't use Carlink. I have a nice uis7862 Android unit who has all functionality itself (just like you).

Thanks for your help! I know you wonder why people want to use AA on a full-fledged Android unit. For myself, I like the seamlessness between my phone and the screen. I don't want to fuss much on my unit, including having to use my phone as a hotspot just to get internet on the unit. AA provides a simple car-centric interface that I can use to simply navigate, get messages from my phone and listen to Spotify.

Its probably best to obtain a genuine Android Auto headunit instead of knockoff Kang emulator, the latter you could expect to be endlessely chasing updates for bugs.
@surfer63 I was able to figure it out. As per your suggestion, I flashed the full firmware from Joying (including the AllAppUpdate.bin) and I was able to successfully get the newer of version of CarLink to work. It even switches day/night mode with my headlights too! Unfortunately, the firmware update broke some other stuff such as
UI and MCU not matching error
I now get a "hybrid driving" page that doesn't go away every time I drive/switch drive modes on my car
RDS text no longer appearing on radio apps
I know how to fix the first error, and I think I can fix the second error by replacing the com.syu.ms.apk from my backup. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to fix the last issue but I guess I'll have to live with it. Seems like the latest FYT firmware updates may have changed something fundamental with how the MCU handles RDS text?
Anyway, thank you for your help!

If you change the FYT manufacturer id back from 43 (Joying) to your manaufacturer (I assume you saw my script at the bottom of post #1 of the "General FYT based Spreadtrum uis7862 (unisoc ums512) - Q&A, Mods, tips, firmware" thread), issue 1 should be solved. However, this might also solve issue 2 and 3.
Note that the FYT firmware also checks this manufacturer ID to send/receive different commands/codes/data to/from the MCU. The Android ms.apk, plus a few other apks, behave differently towards the MCU based on the manufacturer id.
Hi, when I get a call on carplay I just noticed quality is poor. How can I fix that.
